Synopsis: | Gaius goes undercover once more to explore the Multiverse, this time he meets up with a woman named Inga who has some very note worthy abilities. |
Cast of Characters: | 522, Inga |
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
Visiting this city had been on Gaius 'to do' list since he heard of it, but had not the chance to ever make it down. Given that walking around in his Magitek suit armor would be a dead give away, secondly probably scare the locals, and thirdly he rather not be down here with an air that screams 'Confederate!'. Thankfully given that none except for a few within the Confederacy have ever seen Gaius out of his armor, none of the populace of the Multiverse, or anyone really, would be the wiser.
This brings us now to the bustling streets of Chicago. Where a man standing six foot two, with a bit of lines of his face and peppered hair walks down the sidewalk. Hands in pockets with his thumbs out and the brim of his hat kept down with that soft top. He moves about easy enough as he looks through the stores that he passes by. Peeking through the windows time to time to see what is going on inside. Those odd gold eyes examining everything, before he moves in.
When he does pass by a lady on the streets, he taps down the brim of his hat saying, 'ma'am' gently and being rather polite. The only part that stands out from him and might get some attention is his sidearm that is visible-- but then again, in this time period? Was that so uncommon? The sidearm was also--- odd. It looked like a revolver pistol with a long barrel, but the design on it was very elegant and a bit out of place being a touch more high-tech then perhaps the common weapons used today. Though one might say it was very confused on what era it belonged too.
- Inga has posed:
Inga just happens to be the ma'am in question here, though she looks a little surprised at being greeted. Generally, strangers on the streets of Chicago do not greet each other--which she had to learn the hard way, and had decided it actually rather made sense considering just how many people one passed. If you had to greet all of them it would be exhausting.
The woman is dressed in a long black skirt and a violet sweater, belted at the waist, a few pouches attached that made the outfit seem far less modern even if it was purchased at Macy's. She carries a staff in one hand, wooden and carved with various runes, and in the other, a shopping bag filled with food. She was just making her way home from the market. "Ah...greetings," she says, nodding her head to him. Did he know her? Did she know him? Was he one of those people she'd only met on the radio?
So she stands there for a moment, one eyebrow raised slightly, wondering if he will just pass by or not.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
When Inga greets him back, those gold eyes peer over his brim toward her, perhaps because so far none of the people here have actually said anything to him. Though the cops may have been keeping a taps on him given the firearm. He then turns to face her and smiles faintly. "Hope I did not startle you any." His voice sounds rather neutral, not really from this area, though hiding his own Garlean accent. "I'm not really from around here, you see, and," He then takes notice of the bags, "Hm. Would you like some help with those?"
The only place Inga may have seen his face was some time back dealing with Beli's home-world when this man actually stepped in to give aid. Another time was when he worked along side Alexis to deal with some criminals in Defiant's world that even goes back further.
- Inga has posed:
Inga blinks, shaking her head. The face is unfamiliar, though the brimmed hat gives her pause. She pointedly looks him over, noting the weapon. Most people around here do not carry weapons openly, strange land that it is. The voice...perhaps familiar?
Ah, he's not from here. "I have gathered that," she replies, then looks down at her bags as he offers to help her with them. She shouldn't immediately distrust him, but at the same time, she doesn't really want him to know precisely where she lives either. "No, thank you. I have it," she protests. "Ah...are you lost then? I'm not from here myself so I am not like the best person to give directions but..."
Inga trails off, body tensing as if she is bracing herself for a sudden impact. The pupils of her eyes rapidly grow wide, dark pools expanding, opening a shadowy channel... "A young girl quiets her tears in a war-torn land, a hand of black metal caresses her back to calm her as he carries her away. He smells like sweet and blood and iron," she says, quietly with a trance-rhythm.
Her eyes close and a shudder runs through her body. She drops the bag she'd been carrying.
When her eyes open again they are normal and aware, rapidly putting together what happened and soon feeling quite embarrassed about it. Not again! "Apologies...I, um," she says, but can't think of what else to say. She leans on her staff and reaches down for her bag, thinking she'd best just move on and hopefully the man would just be a little creeped out and decide to leave.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
When Inga's eyes suddenly go distant and she speaks, those gold eyes suddenly narrow. That gentle look takes on the man's true military general air for that moment as he lowers his head slightly to where the brim hides his eyes.
"...echo...." he says softly under his breath.
Once she seems to snap out of it, he furrows his brows for a moment, but keeps the brim of his hat hiding his upper face as he reaches down and picks up an apple that escapes from her bag. Easily using his sleeve to clean it off, he hands it back to her. "That was... interesting." He says with a soft chuckle and looks back at her with those gold eyes that seem to have returned to some manor of more common composure. "You sure you will be alright?"
- Inga has posed:
Inga takes the apple with thanks, shoving it into the grocery bag, grumbling. "I am sorry. I cannot help it sometimes when the visions come. It is terribly inconvenient sometimes--like now for instance," she replies, glancing down. She may be looking to see if he has a metal hand before looking back up to meet his eyes. "You're from out there--the multiverse, yes? Have I heard you on the radio perhaps? Your voice seems familiar," she adds. May as well see if that can be figured out. Maybe he's Union.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
"I doubt it," The man says with a gentle smirk. "Though maybe I have one of those voices." His hands on tan leather gloves and that go up under the sleeves of his shirt. No black metal hands here! "And visions hmm? That is a remarkable talent."
This doesn't seem to scare the man away at all, which is probably not what Inga was hoping for. Instead he seems far more fascinated, intrigued by it. "Though that was a strange one. Sweat, Blood, iron? Sounds like quiet the military setting hm?"
"Do you see visions of anyone? Must you have contact with them?" Though as he asks, he pauses and frowns a little. "Ah, forgive me. I have forgotten myself and I am sure speaking to a complete stranger over such matters is highly uncomfortable."
- Inga has posed:
Inga frowns gently in thought as he dismisses that she could have heard his voice. Truth or lie? She cannot tell. He is practiced at hiding his thoughts, she thinks. Which leads to her more to believe it is a lie.
"A troublesome talent, often," she grumbles in response, letting out a breath. Perhaps he's not secretly sinister. Why as she so on edge? Perhaps because he seems too casual about it. Asking questions.
"Proximity is usually what triggers the visions--and most anyone, yes. Sometimes they are just flickers, little bits of possibilities. Sometimes they are stronger." Sometimes, they scream. This particular vision seemed innocent enough. How did it relate to the man before her?
"Well, you could introduce yourself and make yourself a bit less of a stranger," she suggests. Would he stop her if she tried to leave?
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
"Ah, yes. Let me introduce myself." He then nods his head to her, "My name is Baelsar Garlond, it is pleasure to meet you, miss...?" He places out his hand toward her, as if now waiting for her own introduction.
- Inga has posed:
Strange name, but most were to her. She takes the offered hand. "Inga Freyasdottir," she replies. She'll leave out all the other formalities she might have been inclined to give under different circumstances.
In the back of her mind she is thinking; Please don't be a psycho. That would be very awkard.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
As Inga extends out her hand to take his and introduces herself, Baelsar takes it gently and goes to kiss it in a proper gentleman fashion. As he does so, the poor woman may get another vision sent her way, one far darker then the man saving a child.
One of marching soldiers, by the thousands all in dark armor with red. A large crimson red ship in the distance with curves and it stretches out several football fields as a voice speaks up, 'The Agrius will soon be ready, my lord...' The image skips suddenly to young boy in proper noble like cloths with white hair, blue eyes, maybe only nine. A oval-white like stone in the center for the forehead like a third eye, as he goes running right to the man's arm. He is lifted up with ease as another man steps out from around the corner cleaning off grease from his hand. 'It is good to see you old friend....'
The image rapidly skips over to that very man dead, a bullet through his head. There was a figure standing beside him. A lance with a barrel on it, with a voice that speaks up from the figure who holds the lance though as it was drawn away. 'He had gone mad... It had to be done.'
Then the man the vision sees through the eyes of speaks, his voice like Baelsar's but with a slight accent, 'It had to be done...? Is that what I am to tell his /son/?!' As he goes to turn to look it shifts once more to a room ink black with glowing blue lines along the wall heading up to the windows. Pillars stand with glowing orbs of light in their center and the floor black, polished marble. A sword swings cutting a man in half, before moving around to block another and then taking that same revolver and shoot another man down.
A man in the background sits on a throne, a long white beard and his age easily seen on his face. His crown large with a dragon for a design on the crown and on the garment he wears over black and golden armor.
Five bodies lie on the ground, one still standing, hands shaking as the one the vision focuses on turns to face him. Two other men can be seen standing behind the throne, as the other man out in the open steps back, he drops to his knees and drops his sword, before looking to the Emperor, 'Father! Please! Am I not your favored son?'
The Emperor speaks up as the man moves in closer to the fearful man. 'I will not have my blood bickering over my throne as I already heard your whispers on. For we are a nation built on strength, merit, and courage. Your death is an example to the two behind me and for all future generations that /we/,' his fist slams down hard on the arm as the metallic echo rings, 'Are built on examples and on what we do. We rise by our actions. We fall by our actions and you my son... have fallen far.'
The sword can then be seen raised up high, before those eyes peer down at the man's own. The sword then comes down and it is here that the sudden flashes end as Baelsar steps away. "It is a pleasure to meet you Inga. Though I have perhaps taken up enough of your time, given I am sure you have a family to return such groceries too."
- Inga has posed:
Inga thought it was over. They don't usually come in rapid succession. A snatch of vision when he takes her hand, then suddenly she is pulled along as if the strand of wyrd had wrapped around her soul and pulled her into the tapestry. Physically, she groans, her eyes rolling back and her lips moving in almost silence as she's strung along.
This time, she is shaking visibly. People who pass them by look worried. A few stop and ask Gaius what is happening. Is his friend having a seizure?
This time, when the vision is finished, Inga drops to her knees in a faint, groceries forgotten. Someone's dialing for an ambulence. There's a commotion. Maybe Gaius can use the distraction to slip away.
- Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
When Inga goes to faint, his gold eyes go wide and he goes to catch her quickly before she can fully impact the ground. He then rests her down gently on the ground. He could also place a tracker on her... he could even try to run off with her.
Yet he does none of these things, but let the people help her, as he slips away, giving an idle shrug of I have no idea when someone asks him. Concern on his face, an honest concern. Though as he walks away, he notices an apple roll by and kicks it up with his boot before catching it, then cleaning it off with his sleeve once more.
He looks over the red apple, before hopping it into the air and catching it. "Well... this has been a surprising adventure." He then notices a kid in the corner looking worse for wear and toss the child the apple, "Eat up kid." before continuing to walk on.
