- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
The Devil's Hand, site of many battles in the past-- and the site of many more to come. Including one today! Seated in the stands amongst spectators is a large, round-bodied man, his slender wife, their boy, and a pug wearing a hoodie. Chattering noisily amongst themselves, the four pass around a rather large bento box filled with steaming fried croquettes of undefined ingredients.
"We've come this far!" Barazo declares, holding a croquette overhead with his chopsticks, "Just cheer Mako on all the way to the finish!" Sukuyo mimics her husband's gesture, her free hand resting on her cheek, while the boy Mataro just shoves up two handfulls of croquettes he'd been eating with his hands. The dog just barks a sharp "Guts!" in response, while stuffing his face.
For once, Mako is both in the battleground already and also awake. Fully dressed in her Goku Uniform, she stands in the center, in the looming shadow of the Devil's Hand, with her eyes fixed on the sky. While she's present and awake, her mind might be elsewhere as she stares into the clouds with a drawn out 'ahhh...' sort of noise.
"Mako!" Barazo calls out, rising to his feet and planting a shoe on the railing in front of him. Hauling back, he hurls a croquette from the stands. Still seated, Sukuyo turns slightly and holds up the hilariously oversized bento to what may be the most hilariously oversized person to be sitting in the front row. She says nothing, but there's that warm, motherly smile on her face.
"Ah!" Suddenly the girl in the field points skyward, "That one!" Her other hand shoots out without her eyes deviating from the sky, snatching the snack out of the air, "That one looks like a rabbit!"
Whatever else she says is lost when she jams the fried croquette into her mouth.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Directly beside the Mankanshoku family, and mysteriously free of people crowding in against him from the other side for some strange reason it's almost certainly impossible to discern, is the towering and imposing figure of Honnouji Academy's own Disciplimary Committee Chairman and Elite Four member, Ira Gamagoori.
(It's because he's scary. No one but the Mankanshoku family will sit by him because he's goddamn scary.)
With his massive arms folded over his barrel chest, Gamagoori sits in silent, stern observation of the Devil's Hand battlefield, the people on it... and to some extent the Mankanshoku clan as well, cheering their family member on. He doesn't quite seem to know what to make of them, although Sukuyo's gift of food gets a slightly surprised, "Thank you," and an experimental bite. Before he can comment, though-
"...MANKANSHOKU! THIS IS NO TIME TO BE CLOUDGAZING, YOUR OPPONENT COULD ATTACK WITHOUT WARNING!"
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Fiora is here, standing quietly, as the wind whips around her, tossing the cape on her shoulder around, in addition to her hair. She pays no heed to Mako's daydreaming antics, though she does finally open her eyes as she hears that incredibly loud voice, calling out a warning. "Tch. How dare you insinuate I would strike first, without my opponent being prepared. Rude." Drawing her sword, she flicks it through the air. "I have a match to win. I've come much too far, to falter here."
She brings her sword up, saluting her opponent, the woman standing at attention. "Come, when you are ready. I am prepared." She drops into a fighting stance, her sword held out, turned sideways with her sword arm facing Mako. Her other arm is tucked behind her back, and her feet spread slightly.
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
The Commentator for this match is here. She appears to be a giant, floating, severed head with many large snakes in place of hair, reptillian eyes and fangs, scaled skin, and generally looks pretty monstrous. Her name is Medusa (not the nurse), and she has been told to provide commentary by her master. It's a chance to get out of her Garden for a bit, and see if there are any good statues to add to her collection, so she considers this an acceptable task. Even now, she gazes upon those gathered before her, peering closely for any sign of someone handsome who could become her next art piece.
She thinks she spots some good candidates in the stands just then, but before she can take a closer look, she hears a loud voice, and her gaze is drawn towards it...! "Ahhh! What a fine specimen that one is! So bold! So fierce! So..."
She is looking right at Mako's father. "...Round!" Her attention snaps back to the field, however, as she realizes both of the challengers are here already. "Oh. Yes. Ahem." The giant ball of snakes then begins doing her job.
"I, Medusa, shall be commentating on this battle of martial skill between mortals! We are at the location known as the Devil's Hand, and the competitors have already arrived! We shall be starting the match between Mako Mankoshoku and Fiora Laurent shortly! ...I demand it!"
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
"Wah!" The shouting from the stands causes Mako to throw both hands over her head. Whirling in place, she shades her eyes and looks over those very same stands until she spots the towering monolith that is Ira Gamagoori. Once sighted, the girl's face lights up and she raises both arms again, waving excitedly, "You made it!"
Whirling in place, the girl settles eyes on her opponent more directly, a grin still on her face, the clover in her teeth angled upward, "Okay! I guess it's time to get started, huh? As the only member of Honnouji Academy present, I'll fight my hardest!" Raising her hands, she slams a foot down, scattering cracks around her feet, "Your opponent is the Honnouji Academy Fight Club President!" Hands swing down, her fists slamming together and throwing out a brief burst of air pressure, "Mankanshoku Mako!" Behind her, in response to her stopping, enormous letters burst out of the ground.
HONNOUJI ACADEMY
FIGHT CLUB PRESIDENT
MANKANSHOKU MAKO
Stance shifting, Mako slams her other foot down as she assumes a more conventional fighting posture, "It's very nice to meet you!" The impact causes the letters behind her to crumble into a new sentence.
NICE TO MEET YOU
As the lettering crumbles, Mako's feet dig in and she hurls herself forward, each foot digging a divot into the Devil's Hand. One might expect Mako to ready a weapon during such a reckless charge, or at least throw out an arm, but nothing of the sort happens. She simply uses her most consistently solid asset as a battering ram to open the match.
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
The letters are.. unexpected. So is the girl charging into melee, and headbutting Fiora in the chest. The woman staggers back a bit, and tosses her head, flipping her hair out of her face a little more. "Fiora, of House Laurent. Grand Duelist of Demacia." Again, she salutes her opponent, but after doing so, lunges forward, her sword arm lashing out with a quick, lightning-fast stab.
"The honor is mine!" The strike is quite fast, perhaps enough so that Mako might not be able to see it, much less evade.
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
Medusa is mildly offended that Mako should use such a nearly-primitive opening attack! But it also seems to have some elegance to it, like a well-trained maneuver that has been mastered by a true warrior! And she must admire that at least! "The conflict begins! The 'Fight Club President' launches the initial attack with a boorish and yet elegant weaponization of her own head!" Fiora's return blow is too fast for Medusa to follow, but she thought she saw that the other fighter had a sword... Hm, hm~! Such amazing speed! If only more of her challengers were gifted with such rapidity! "But there is a counter-attack that springs forth quickly with a blade! So quickly I am actually not sure where it landed or how! Witchcraft!"
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
Mako is in her element in a close range fight, hence her charge to close that distance right away. Though the Duelist also has her tricks, the Fight Club President isn't about to back down from a lady with a sword! This sword is like a toothpick compared to the monstrosity Ysabel used! Though the counterattack is faster than most eyes can see, Mako's body twists in such a way that the pierce strikes her Uniform rather than her body, slicing through it with a spray of glittering crimson motes from damaged Life Fibers.
Though when that blade comes back, there's some telltale crimson on it. The girl's wince is harder to notice, as she plants one foot forward to arrest her motion while the other stays back in a spread posture. Her left hand leads in a jab, though it's a feint, as she follows through with her right with a step forward, bringing her fist up in an uppercut. The gold starburst-patterned knuckleduster catches the light in her upswing, "Ey~!"
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Perhaps Mako will learn that size doesn't always matter. Fiora has to deal with the girl's strength, for now, though. And Fiora would be a poor duelist, if she couldn't take a couple of punches. She sees the feint, but that's still a very strong blow, and she staggers back again, before recovering. She leans back, into a slight crouch, and lunges forward again. It's Fiora's turn to demonstrate a feint. A blow from the front..
Becomes a blow from Mako's left hand side, the woman able to change direction in the blink of an eye as she closes the short distance again. Speed and precision against raw strength on full display, again. Finesse against sheer power.. Fiora has met these opponents before.
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
Medusa approves of Mako's skill, even if martial arts as a concept is rather foreign to her. She has still seen some nimble fighters in her time who don't hold a candle to this Fight Club President girl, in terms of agility, skill, or offensive power. "Mako recovers from the belly-cleaving blow! I saw red, but not even my mighty eyes could discern if that was her blood or some manner of trick! And she retaliates with an unusual, if effective, manner of fighting! Some sort of... Fisticuffs!" Then Fiora seems nearly to teleport to the side of Mako, and strike at a vital location! "And now Fiora has relocated as quickly as her blade to attack from another direction! Such splendid speed will be difficult to defend against, in my estimation! This style of fighting these two use...! So different from how monsters and vampire slayers battle! Is this what is called 'mortal combat'!?"
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
The brunette presses into the attack, that grin still on her face. When she sights the blow coming from the front, though, she backsteps once and prepares to counter. When the sword instead comes, lightning quick from the side, Mako's fist snaps out to meet it with the golden knuckleduster on her right hand. The sword strikes against it with a metallic clanging sound, the girl's weapon sending off crimson sparks but not giving under the Demacian's blade.
Twisted as she is, Mako cheers, "Pretty tricky! Almost got me with that one!"
Her coat's right sleeve, hanging limply as she only wears the jacket on her shoulders like a cape, quite suddenly produces a large, white-gloved hand from the end of the sleeve. Fingers flexing, this snaps out at a low angle, attempting to wrap those fingers around Fiora's ankle and yank the swordswman off her feet, just to introduce her to the ground in a somewhat more violent way.
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Fiora looks a little shocked, as she's grabbed by the ankle, lifted up, and slammed back down, again. Nevermind the fact this girl seems more durable than she appears. Armor is.. not something Fiora is unaccustomed to dealing with, thankfully. She rolls back one she's let go, and dashes around Mako, swiping with her sword a few times.
Again, her movements are blindingly fast, and her sword seems to move even more so. If that coat is the issue, she does her best to work around it, jabbing and slicing where its protection might not be as useful to her opponent. "Tricks aren't my forte. Just skill."
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
And Mako somehow manages to defend against the speed of her opponent, her body almost reacting on its own! Medusa is quite startled that this teenager could track an attack that the legendary monster could not. And now Mako has three hands!? "Mako managed to notice and defend against that piercing blow, only to produce new appendages from her pinafore! She uses this to seize Fiora and slam her to the earth! Is this fighter even human!?" Then Fiora herself survives that crushing through and leaps back up to launch a barrage of sword strikes that appear as no more than flashes of quicksilver to the monsters' eyes. She is wanting more and more to make both of these fighters into statues. "And now Laurent has struck repeatedly with her deadly blade, leaving only traces of her movement behind, as ephemeral as the moonlight that fades upon the cursed dawn! How will Mankanshoku deal with such a flurry? Is it even possible to deal with such an attack except by hoping to survive it!?"
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
With Fiora bursting into a flurry of motion, Mako lifts up her arms to protect her face, much as a boxer would by using her forearms. The blade dance attacks from multiple angles and Mako simply soaks through it, tears and cuts appearing across her Goku Uniform as well as her exposed skin. Being accustomed to pain, she pays the injuries little mind and simply waits for an opening.
"There!"
Declaring her opening, Mako ... doesn't move her arms at all. Her left sleeve however swings out from inside her jacket, weilding a crowbar, and swings the gold-colored weapon in an upward arc straight for Fiora's chin during her dance-like assault.
At the end of the upward swinging arc, the sleeve-hand releases the crowbar and Mako catches it in her own left hand, giving the improvised weapon a twirl before returning her attention to her opponent.
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Fiora catches a good one, that's for sure. Just what on earth is that thing she's wearing, anyway? Not much time to figure that out, unfortunately, as she's knocked down by that heavy blow. She gets quickly to her feet, and spits out a bit of blood. "Hnn. I see." No sense in playing her game, while her opponent just counters everything she does. She doesn't get frustrated, and instead tries another approach. She draws her parrying dagger behind her back, and quickly tosses it at her opponent. She's only done so as a distraction, however.
She grabs it in mid-air, as she lunges in again, and lashes out with both weapons, the sword and dagger aiming themselves, hopefully at some more vulnerable areas.
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
Mako uses more trickery! Maybe it's magic? She produces an unusual lever-like weapon from somewhere and wields it upon her foe! "What's this!? In addition to being able to conjure limbs, Makanshoku can also conjure weapons that she then wields with them! This is most definitely wizardry of some kind! It is possible that she is in possession of a magic item of some kind! She swungs at Fiora and strikes true, right in the face!" Then Fiora demonstrates a skill Medusa only sees among exceptional hunters who come to Bernhard Castle, the precise and rapid throwing of daggers... But no, it's something even more amazing, because then Fiora grabs it right back out of the air and attacks with BOTH weapons! "Fiora continues to impress with her speed and dexterity! She throws a knife of some sort but then catches it right back out of the air before it reaches its target, and wields both that and her sword simultaneously to lunge forth and strike! How can a human move like that!?"
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
Pro tip: A crowbar isn't a very good fencing weapon. The dagger comes in and Mako swipes at it with her makeshift weapon, a clear miss when the knife is suddenly caught and its trajectory changes. Thrown off balance, Mako bounces on one foot for a moment, making an awkward noise, before she's straight up impaled. The dagger catches a bit less flesh than the sword, tangling up in the crimson threads of the girl's Goku Uniform, though the sword pierces right through and out the other side in a spray of crimson blood and glittering crimson motes from damaged Life Fibers.
"Ghn..!" That one hurt. The girl isn't about to give in, though. Eyes jerking downward at Fiora, so close, and her smile widens. That alone tells the story: This close is probably not a good idea.
The left sleeve snaps out in an attempt to wrap its beefy hand around the fencer's middle, simply to hold her in place while Mako herself pulls back enough to unseat herself from the sword. But then she's right back in punching range, jabbing with both fists in a rapid-fire working over of the fencer's upper body that ends with her right-arm sleeve balling up into a fist and striking hard enough that the left hand is forced to drop her.
"Ey~ ey~ ey~!"
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Fiora has never liked the brawler types, and certainly doesn't enjoy having to fight them. But, she's taking the tournament quite seriously. She doesn't try to stay in range, however, and is quick to dash backward, cutting at the sleeve that attempts to wrap around her. She at least ensures it doesn't, and uses her sword to deflect most of the blows, though a few find their mark. "Nh.. Two can play at that.."
Fiora flourishes her sword, the arm holding it twisting like a coiled snake, ready to strike. And strike it does, the silver of her sword blue of movement, as is the rest of her arm. Thrusting over and over, with the intention of piercing through those defenses. She isn't just lashing out at random, each blow seemingly aimed.. Somehow, despite how random it might seem, the woman able to control where she wants the tip of that blade to go.
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
Mako is once more forced on the defensive, shielding her face with her forearms while her left sleeve balls up against her side, absorbing the majority of the blows aimed at her body. Though it's cloth, and tears, the glittering crimson Life Fibers within reveal the source of her clothing's unnatural durability. The clover in Mako's teeth bounces upward when her grin returns.
"It's pretty fun, isn't it? This is what a fight really should be!"
Her right sleeve dives into her coat once again, unfastening something and then drawing out a long golden rod, curled slightly in a curious way. This is no ordinary weapon-- It's a length of pipe. And at the end, glittering in the light, is the unmistakable shape of a sink. With her arms and left sleeve focused on defense, Mako's right sleeve rears back with this impromptu weapon and then swings it forward in an enormous arc, sweeping the entire area in front of her, "A knock-down, drag out fight to the finish! C'mon, I'm the president of Fight Club, don't expect me to go easy on you~!"
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
And the Fighting Club President seems to take some serious damage! "Mako is IMPALED! And there is much glorious blood! And... Glitter! ...So much glitter. But Mankanshoku does not appear to be defeated yet, as she retaliates with a flurry of fists!" And then the swordswoman slices and dices Mako! "And Fiora retaliates with blows so fast they seem to trail ghostly images! Such speed has not been seen by these eyes in thousands of years at least! The swordswoman strikes again and again!" And then Mako pulls out a sink! "Is that...? What... What is that!? Is it some sort of strange chair? Yes! That must be it! Mako Mankashoku has picked up a chair! What is she going to do with it!? Is she going to ATTACK with it!? No, she couldn't be! BUT SHE IS! She strikes her foe with the chair! How brutal!" Medusa turns as someone from the tournament runs up next to her, shielding his eyes, and whispers to her. "What? A sink? Ah, a wash basin! I retract my claim of it being a chair! But it was still a brutal strike!"
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
"Fun.. I suppose."
Fiora rolls her shoulders, "Nor shall I go easy. Nor am I." Fiora, still, has to manage to evade this new.. weapon. She does, somewhat, but it catches her in the side, and sends her rolling off to one side. "That clothing you're wearing certainly seems special." She lunges again, lashing out at the girl's more exposed areas with her sword.
With the tide of the fight swinging away from her favor, she seems intent on evening the playing field, a little bit. Her attack is very precise, and might prove quite painful, if not immediately damaging.
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
In the backswing of her unorthodox weapon, Mako releases the pipe and lets it sail out of her sleeve's hand, discarding the sink and pipe to bounce to a halt several yards away. Her hands dive into her coat's numerous interior pockets while the sleeve-hands raise, fingers splayed out menacingly. Despite the front displayed, Fiora's blade finds an opening, nicking in between coat and body with a distinctive snick sound that causes the girl to wince, blood escaping down her side at an alarming rate. Something important was cut!
One eye closes, though Mako isn't one to give in and her smile is ever-present. Her hands swing outward, abandoning the apparent goal of digging out more weapons, and her feet simply dig in with those spike-toothed geta sandals. Given the short distance, she gives very little warning when she suddenly surges forward, right hand drawn back like a loaded weapon. At kissing distance, she thrusts her right fist forward with all her strength. It's enough to scatter motes of dust and small stones even behind the swordswoman. In the distant Devil's Hand mountain formation, there's a sudden impact, stamping the stone with a large starburst shape surrounding four big block letters: MAKO
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Fiora coughs, and falls to her knee, in the wake of the attack. ".. Nngh. That's enough. I don't think I can stand. I concede." The woman slumps back, onto her backside, and lets out a tired sigh. "I suppose that's it, then."
- Walter Bernhard (726) has posed:
"It seems that Fiora has likewise caught the scent of blood in the air, as she is aiming for those areas previously left exposed by her expert strikes, in an attempt to weaken her opponent through blood loss and pain! Glorious!" Medusa is really getting into this. Especially with the increasingly serious injuries being suffered. What? She's a monster. "Mako may be bleeding and in pain, but she has now unleashed some ridiculously strong attack that has left the impression of her name on the mountain! The sheer enormity of the blow blasts Fiora so hard that she stumbles and falls to one knee! Too tired to continue, the fearsome sworswoman concedes defeat! Mako Mankanshoku is hereby the winner!"
Medusa was thinking of making one or both of them a statue but is no longer certain she wants to tangle with them. Who knew mortals out in the Multiverse could be so incredibly strong!?
- Mako Mankanshoku (191) has posed:
Standing with her arm extended, Mako remains still for several moments while it sinks in. She slowly returns to a more normal stance, arms dropping to her sides while she stares down at her kneeling foe. It's another long several moments before Mako's left sleeve raises, wiping across her forehead while she lets out a "Whew..!" sound.
Wasting no further time, Mako drops down onto her butt right beside the swordswoman, her sleeve-arm wrapping around her midsection to staunch her own bleeding. Her regular hands raise up, fingers wiggling, "I wasn't sure if I was hurting you, you're really strong!" One hand pulls out the top of her blouse while the other dives in. Seconds later, she fishes out a battered bento box far too large to have any business being down her top, then sets it in her lap. Almost gingerly the lid is lifted. The top partition is also removed, stuffed full of rice and fried croquettes, which she offers towards Fiora with one hand while the other picks up another croquette from the bottom partition, already stuffing it into her mouth.
- Fiora Laurent (824) has posed:
Fiora can't help but chuckle a bit, "Thank you, but no, I don't think it's food I need. Rest, perhaps. Now that I'm seated, I don't think I can move." She lets out a sigh, "I'm certainly not as young as you are, anymore."
