- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
Momoyo was confined to the Dojo grounds for however long it took the resolve the situation with the Gate. For a lack of anyone with a better understanding of the situation and appropriate power to manage it, Kawakami Tesshin was not only surprisingly amiable but laid-back about the affair. While the Gate's arrivals were a leap and a stretch, it seems for this land they were not as much of a shock as they otherwise could have been. Thusly, after explaining his granddaughter and the area's samurai history to Amalthea, in order to maintain good relations and a fair impartial grasp of the situation... enforcement of her was left to the Union. This began to set the precedent for using the Dojo as a formalized prison for Gate miscreants and a preliminary neutral zone headquarters for both factions' affairs since the Fed were able to talk to Tesshin as well later on.
None of this was good news for Momoyo, however. Someone actually powerful enough to handle her loose cannon attitude aside from her grandfather had shown up and after hearing about Amalthea's experience as a leader and drill instructor was more than happy to wash his hands of the whole ordeal regarding her usage of the Human Bomb technique with civilians and defeated fighters in the potential blast radius. While still quivering from the adrenaline of the brawl for most of the week, she was still strictly confined to the Dojo grounds and in no mood to violate that quarantine until she was handed off to the Union just now with Tesshin's signatures.
Thusly, she sat sulking like a teenager in detention, dressed in her black slacks, sweater and vest as her shoulders hunched and hands remained in her pockets. Red eyes continue to constantly trace over the training monks and Union-heavy presence in the neutral zone trickling in with Japanese government permission. The air was thick with tension around the woman that could be cut like a knife.
- Amalthea (395) has posed:
So there's a unicorn in a dojo.
This isn't the beginning of a joke, but by the end of this debacle there's probably going to be a punchline anyway. Out of a vague and basic understanding and respect for local culture, Amalthea ta least took her boots off on the way in, but the armored old knight is about as awkward about thie civility and diplomacy as ever. She feigns it well, but a man like Tesshin probably won't be fooled at the mechanical mythic's discomfort at being selected for a diplomacy mission, when her forte lays in other fields.
Still, she is here, representing the Union, and that means she is at least as professional as she can manage to be, listening intently to the explanations of the Samurai lineage. And that technique she had almost used.
"So you're telling me she could have caused a catastrophe if Priscilla didn't step in." Mused as she whistles quietly through her teeth. "Well I think that helps gauge the Elites of this world somewhat, at least." She ponders, amid tucking away the tidbit of the destruction that COULD have happened. "I think I'd like to speak with her."
That's about how the conversation with Tesshin had gone.
It's not too much longer before Momoyo's confinement is no longer so solitary. Though the door eerily makes no sound, and her footsteps are inhumanly silent, Amalthea makes no attempt to HIDE her arrival in the room anyway. "Kawakami, Momoyo. I'm Kuklos Ka Amalthea Schmendrick-Fortuna. We've already met, though not quite so formally. ... Care for a little chat?"
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
Momoyo slouches in her room, looking at the monks outside the window. Amalthea may have come in silently, but she could tell the unicorn was moving down the hall at least five minutes before her arrival. "Alright." she replies, coolly. She clearly wasn't in the mood to chat, but the fact that her grandfather had spoken to the Union first and not her spoke volumes. She tosses her hair a little bit, over her shoulder, but for all the power she had, it was clear from her room she was more or less a typical tomboy. It was not entirely clean, a bunch of clothing piled up in one corner, videogames strewn about she'd been playing up till a half an hour ago. Her sulky attitude itself showed she was wearing her heart on her sleeve...
She was not going to enjoy the forthcoming conversation and was /NOT/ pleased to have been stopped by a demi-god out of the blue during a good fight either. However, her behavior was pretty clearly as if she totalled a car and had no idea what was coming next. The rainbow robot was not who she expected to step into her room... but the unicorn was too powerful to just dismiss. For all of her sulking, simply sizing up the other... thing... had shown that while she had been through plenty of her own fights, the other one had seen multiple wars.
- Amalthea (395) has posed:
More than Momoyo can potentially imagine. The unicorn carries herself more like a wild predator than a knight, despite her armor. It doesn't even rattle or clink as she eases into a seat opposit the samurai-blooded girl, blatantly ignoring the girl's sulking, she stares. Meeting gaze with that lone eye is like staring into an ocean. Dark, endlessly deep and otherworldly fathomless, she says nothing for a long moment. Truth is, even in this moment, she's sizing Momoyo up right back, albeit subtly and without intent to start anything. Not right now anyway. Not if she can help it.
"I can tell you're strong, we all saw that much, but you're also a little wild, aren't you."
It's not a question, it's an observation. "The damage you caused could have been a lot worse. Especially if Vance, of all people, hadn't kept civilians away, and Priscilla didn't intervene when she did. It was almost a mistake on my part pitting Xiao Long, a rookie, and Kawasaki, a trained and professional Shinra Agent against you. One could have been badly hurt, the other could have ended up much differently." How it sounds so much like a lecture as she drums her fingers on her knee, thoughtfully.
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
She turns to face the unicorn finally after looking in those eyes. While she understood how strong martially the robot was through her aura, she was probably well out of her depth looking at that eye. "Did you really expect it to go any differently?" she replies, looking her up and down. She leans forward with her elbows on her thighs now, sitting on the edge of her bed with a wry grin. "Other than the bored... uh... demi-goddess," she didn't know what to call Priscilla at that point other than to understand that being had no place on the plane she stepped on to. "You were the only one worth fighting. I kept the police away for a good reason, but everyone else through that gate knew the risks the moment they saw me." she sits back a bit, folding her arms. In other words, even though Tesshin explained her technique and probable strategy, she was still certain an equally strong and furious fighter was one she could blow away to get to the knight.
"You guys really are something, though. The blonde has the potential to master Kawakami Style completely and be as good as me... and that guy was no slouch... you have no idea how BORED I was this past year. Even when people try to kill me they never cut the mustard like you guys did." She was still admitting a grudging respect. Reckless, but definitely not a stupid woman.
- Amalthea (395) has posed:
The only one worth fighting? Now that earns the quirk of a brow, the unicorn's face shifting slightly with a buzz into a particularly inquisitive expression as she tilts her head in a particularlt curious angle. "Was I?" A genuine curiosity, rather than arrogant acceptance and bluster in the face of such a comment. "Meanwhile. I felt it wasn't worth fighting. Not because I find you lacking, but because when I fight it is not for the sake of a fight itself. But what I choose to fight for." She says very simply, that lone eye practically staring through the girl with a silent, immortal, intensity. "You will find, now, quite often that people from other worlds are very different from those here that try to kill you. Much different." She lets that hang. Her point is frankly made simply by her being there breathing, but she doesn't completely halt.
"Quite frankly I think you're dangerous. A loose cannon with a nasty temper and a penchant for high collateral damage." Very blunt there as her head tilts again, turning to better regard Momoyo from her good eye. "And I suppose that's why I think I've got an offer to make you."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
Momoyo shrugs, leaning backward on her hands. "Alright, I'm listening." she replies. Her visitor wasn't going to take the bait, but neither was she going to let her get a word in edgewise to argue. Tossing her hair again (the costs of never bothering to really maintain it other than an occasional wash) She plants one heel on the edge of her bed, draping one hand over her knee. It seems like it wasn't the first time she's tried to rile a teacher up, but it wasn't the last time she'd shut up and learn something either. The only thing that continued to bounce was her knee, belying a whole bunch of pent-up energy still.
- Amalthea (395) has posed:
Listening huh? The unicorn goes stock still for a moment, eyeng the girl and her body language. Everything about Momoyo felt like a taut spring waiting to snap. Non-Elite union delegates would probably be intimidated by this point, by the brusque demeanor and sheer force of presence. But no. Amalthea is not biting. Not now anyway.
"Do you want to fight me?" It's an idle question as she reaches into the surcoat of her armor. "Because we can do it. Find someplace out of the way, where there's no one around for miles, andback and forth it until someon's a wreck."
This is when she pulls a folder from her armor and tosses it on the bed. "Or you can fill those out and turn them in to me by tonight, and I can give you something to fight for." She lets that hang for a long moment.
"It won't be glamorous. You can't say you're part of the Union. Too much of a wildcard to have on the official rosters. You'd be worse than black ops. But you'd have a better direction than challenging anyone who walks out of the warpgate."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
The red-eyed woman grins widely at the question. She didn't expect it to come so easily! She could have cared less about what else the Gate meant.
But then her eyes drop to the folder.
She starts to flip through it, reading through the titles of the forms, the job description, various details. Training, drills, both to be taught and to teach. She hadn't even really thought to question why it was called the Union, but now that she was actually putting effort in to reading the paperwork, things started to click. Definitely not stupid, just intellectually lazy.
"I couldn't join you until one of you defeats... me..." she trails off lamely. The reality of the situation was that she had already been beaten, she just wasn't fighting the opponent that did so at the time. Even the folder indicated her current prisoner status, her grandfather's signatures to sign her over until the paperwork was resolved, what the crimes and sentences were. She might have been 'grounded to her room' but the legal reality started to really bear down on her, what was really at stake compared to her behavior and how much worse she could really make it for herself.
She continues to flip through the paperwork and a few dossiers. "I can teach. But... who will I fight?" It was only now finally a touch apprehensive, even though she was still very much willing to tear loose. She was finally paying attention.
- Amalthea (395) has posed:
"You can teach. Okay." Amalthea confirms that as a skill of use, but the next question earns another long, deep, look from that eye. Far too deep and old for a face made to look rather young. "Who will you fight?" Mused for a moment, once Momoyo has perused the files and paperwork.
Amalthea is already standing up and waving a hand in a lazy motion. "Well, I guess that depends just on who you want to fight, now doesn't it?"
She's already heading for the door. "It's a war. It won't be pretty. It won't be pretty at all, and you'll be considered so not on the record that you'd be more expendable than expendable. But it'll give you a direction. Think about it and get back to me. If you want in, all you have to do is sign. If not, I scratch off those charges of public menacing, endangering civilians, and assaulting union staff, like they never happened, and you don't hear from me again."
This is about where she pauses in the doorway and glances back over her shoulder with that lone eye.
"But something tells me you wouldn't enjoy that as much."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
"Being expendable suits me fine, Amalthea. I go my own way and stay honest, after all."
- Amalthea (395) has posed:
"Fair enough." Amalthea replies. "Just pass the papers over when you're done looking through them. Report to Colonel Zelgius first thing." Added as she slips out of the doorway and closes it behind her.
