Accessing Archived Data
"The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? Motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then one day . . ."
"I got in."
Flynn had a hand in making an entire world and a large number of the beings that inhabited it but through his own failings or his inability to entirely understand the nature of what he mad the grid fell to Clu and his forces. The ISOs programs who came to be without no hand of man from the sea of simulation, were hunted down and thought to be entirely exterminated. This however is far from the truth and some still endure a existence of constantly on the run with no way out.
Deelel had mentioned this to many with in the union and Syndicate about the situation on her world, that if she'd ever caught wind of any she'd need help. That day had come, a tip off came from an old friend of Deelel's who had informed her of a rumour about an ISO in Purgos.
It hadn't taken long for Deelel to act asking for help, but there had been one stop for those who'd not been to the grid before a Siren, by the name of Aurora the white light suit clad program had outfitted the party with light suits. ID discs, basic covers and some grid native gear, a light cycle and a baton which could become a staff or several other tools. Oddly firearms did not seem to be a think for people on this world. They'd have been warned to not bring clothing they cared about as it was unlikely to survive the process.
Some time later?
The group is in the region known as Purgos, it's known as a nasty and mean slum? Yet doesn't match up with the concept for a human or like species mental image. The place like all the grid is clean, there's no dust, no dirt, no paper trash, no old cans, no gum on the ground /nothing/. For all the bright lights it seems a bit run down and Deelel notes to her companions.
"If we run into General Tesler's forces activate your helmets. You do not want them seeing your faces, got it? Now the rumour was saying out target is one female and has been working as an information broker of sorts here if the rumour is true. We have to assume that the General is aware and has people looking into it."
Deelel normally bubbly and bouncy was seemingly very tense and on edge from how she carried herself this was pretty big business after all.

- Sona Buvelle (586) has posed:
Sona, and her distinctly techno-colored light-flashing Etwahl and rather Grid-like tight outfit so common to Programs here, is with one Deelel. She wandered into the woman 'accidentally'. The deaf woman simply remained, smiling, and occasionally strumming her instrument as she floats along. No name, no words, simply her presence. The fact that Deel hasn't kicked her out? She must be a friend. Definitely not a union operative.
Still, the woman gives a silent titter and a little grin to Sona. Her instrument floats a bit closer as she takes it all in, the Maven otherwise keeping to herself.
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Xiaomu.tan has taken to the Grid like a duck to water, as the saying goes; she actually would have needed to be persuaded to let somebody put one of those suits on her instead of trying to use her own shapeshifting to mimic it. Good luck getting her to part with her staff, though; unless the batons can pass for a sword as well as a staff, she's keeping Suiren .... although she's not above trying to make it LOOK like it belongs in the digital world. And the baton itself, she accepts with glee, just as she takes advantage of the other gear being provided - she's taken a couple of test throws with her ID disc, nothing TOO flashy but getting a feel for it.
Now as long as the helmet can cope with her hairtails, she'll be fine. For now, she's walking along with the group, listening to Deelel's instructions, and nodding. "So, typical undercover mode, don't give the authorities reason to take an interest in us while we're trying to find Ms. Info Broker?"
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Something about doing anything in the Grid made Kyra kind of nervous. Oh yeah the part where she couldn't USE ANY OF HER NORMAL WEAPONS, which consisted of a small arsenal filled with guns. She's had to leave most of them behind, save for her normal regular Galianda handgun which was pretty easy to conceal. But this mission had been a long time in coming and Kyra promised to Deelel that she would come help look for the remaining ISOs.
That is if any really were remaining.
"Right, stealth. I should be good for stealth here." Her overwhelming magical field might not even register to these guys since magic was not a thing here. Hooray!
- Reker (631) has posed:
Not the first time Reker has been down here on the grid. And oddly enough, he might get picked up as a program anyway, even without the skintight getup with the bright white designs on it. At the moment, he's actually twirling his ID disk around on his finger, like one might expect an old school cowboy to do with a revolver.
"You know I realize there's some kind of weird irony with me being here...I mean I'm a digital avatar...Who's digitized into a digital realm. I mean what are the odds I'd even be compatable with this system?" He wonders out loud.
Reker has also brought some non-grid weapons with himself. Nothing /too/ crazy, but he'll be able to fight if a fight breaks out and not feel too out of his depth.
- Corona Arclite has posed:
It's becoming a bit of a running occurance that Corona keeps wandering into strange new things she's got no idea exactly -what- she's getting into.
Case in point, she knows very little about computers. So she was looking for someone that could maybe look over the AI for a ship she recently, ah, 'salvaged' and make sure there weren't any bugs or hidden programs in it. Someone suggested she talk to the girl that actually is a computer program. Somehow. After thought-afterimages holo-zomibes last night she wasn't really concerned with -how-. Which led to her coming across other people apparently going to meet up with the 'computer girl', and here she was.
Instead of trying to render a new facial model for the foxgirl the Grid gave her a headpiece with angular ear-like protrutions on the sides and a visor in-place of her goggles. Corona had grumped a bit at the lack of a hat more than she did the alternate look.
Right now she was turning over the baton in her hands, utterly confused by the fact that it was some sort of device yet no mechanical parts for her disconcern because everything is made up of code and programs. It was kind of messing with her general perception of things.
"I reckon this is in the top 3 weirdest places I've been yet." Pause. "No offense to the locals, o'course."
- Rory White (673) has posed:
When Rory appears... it's at the same time that everyone else has entered the grid. She didn't show up physically to be digitized, but she's here now and seems to have gone through a similar process.
The reason is almost certainly that she's already an AI - why go through the process of converting herself several times over?
When she spots the others though she half-skips over in a hurry, apparently not feeling at all safe without some kind of numbers here!
Strangely her overall face hasn't changed either... still the bluenette with the kind face...
Just lots of new spiffy Grid gear courtesy of Deelel instead of the scientist outfit!
"So one question... how will we get them OUT of here once we retrieve them?"
- Deelel has posed:
Normally Deelel would not ask for stealth when it came to weaponry but given the grid? If they exposed there were uses in that would cause a lot of problems for the moment. If they were looking for ISO making too much noise would be an issue, right now. Which could send the ISO or ISOs running. Worse it would bring the enemy down on their head thankfully explosives and non lethal grenades were there.
She smiles a little bit at Sona for the moment before turning to Xiamou nodding.
"They say her name is Turing, we should almost be there and thank you Kyra your help along with everyone else means more than you know."
Kyra might not be aware that basics see humans as their /gods/ and basics wouldn't be exactly wrong.
"I try to not think too hard about things like that, it's not something I was made for, and sides I don't question things like having a /sun/."
She looked Corona with an amused expression.
"I'll take that as a compliment which means it's different."
She now starts down the alley way keeping her cool as she goes she also notes.
"Keep an eye on your discs. There's rare times they are stolen."
It had been something to meet Rory basically another basic but from a whole other world, Deelel is excited and would love to get to know her better, however it will have to wait for after the mission. She makes sure Rory seems to be all right.
"Let's get a move on shall we?"
IT doesn't take too long moving through the twists and turns of the slum to find their way to the 'shop' if you could call it that it's unassuming there's no real sign out front but it's clear someone is there as Deelel heads inside.
"Greetings Program! I'm here to seek out some information and I can pay in energy up front."
There's a counter and there's a woman in a light suit but also seems to almost have a duster on over it for lack of a better term there's a grids up display band over her eyes and she's clearly working on something as the party comes in.
"Depends on what your looking, how hot is the information you want?"
"I'm looking for a friend a vet from the ISO war."
Deelel notes and while there's no visible reaction from the woman there's a feeling that something has got her attention.
"That could be pretty costly but your wanting what?"
"To confirm they didn't get cubed and find a way to contact them."
The woman nods.
"That will be two full units, if they are not a pile of cubes it will cost a third for the contact information."
Deelel pauses to hand a data slab with the information.
- Corona Arclite has posed:
When it's mentioned Corona idly reachs down to where, out of habit of having tool belts and stuff, she 'hung' the Disc at her hip instead of sticking it on her back or whatever they normally do around here. Yep, still there.
She turns over the baton in the other hand again, then lets out a huff of annoyance. Normally she's great at figuring things out, but the lack of any mechanical components due to being a code construct has the engineer absolutely baffled. So, she's got to do something she rarely ever does.
"Don't these things have some sort of an instruction manual?" Or file, as the case may be.
She's only paying partial attention to the conversation between Deelel and the shopkeeper. The puzzle of the local technology or what passes for it since they're IN technology has got most of her curiousity.
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Kyra's well aware that a stolen disc is bad news. Or more accurately, being mistaken as a stray is bad news. Fortunately, she has already had the whole disc speech taken care of-not that she's any good at using a chakram.
She's pretty quiet for now, other than checking out the other people that have come with them on this mission. Xiaomu and Corona get longer glances than the others because she hasn't met either of them yet but she did recognize their voices from the Union radio.
- Reker (631) has posed:
"Honestly it just kinda comes naturally." Reker offers to Corona as he hears her question, "You know, you'll know what to do when it comes time to do it." Once they get to the location where they're meeting their contact, Reker finds a spot near the door, waiting and looking for any other entrances or exits.
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
It belatedly occurs to Xiaomu that maybe she should have just gotten a hat - a nice big one, like the straw travelling hats of her days travelling as an itinerant Buddhist nun-novitiate. Oh well, too late to bring one in from the outside - but she's keeping her eyes open as she looks around the area, following Deelel. She seems content to just look around the inside of the shop while Deelel is arranging her transaction with the shopkeeper ...
Kyra gets a friendly smile, though, when Xiaomu catches her looking so curiously at her. "Name's Xiaomu," she introduces herself briefly. "Good to meet you."
She'd introduce herself in more detail than that, but talking about the outside world COULD draw unwanted attention, even from ostensibly friendly locals ...
- Rory White (673) has posed:
What a strange place this is! Rory's looking very, very lost. Or perhaps like some dazed tourist. Either way she's tagging along with the group and resisting the urge to poke her own body more often than not. It feels SO WEIRD.
But she's remaining quiet. There's not been any need to introduce herself...
But she does give Deelel and then Xiaomu both concerned looks. Likely for very different reasons!
- Deelel has posed:
There's various odds and ends here, coms, the local analog to personal computers, datapads most of it is pretty dated by this system's standards but thankfully it all works fairly well but the prices are in energy. Normally that's not how it works on the grid but in the slums not everyone gets the energy they need to live and that's forced an more traditional economic system generally things work in favours or you were made to do this generally how things work. Rory would be right at home in that economy really. Given one's rep mattered more than material wealth really.
The only bits of Buddhism that hit the grid came from a few sayings that Flynn shared a long time ago.
Deelel seems to be working and the woman looks to Xiamou for a moment raising an eyebrow.
"Greetings program and for what it's worth yes. I'm Turing."
That name should ring bells for people form earth who know a bit about computer history.
Deelel is focused on her negations as the search engine goes to get to work, she's just focused on business her though it's very likely she does catch the look and well this is the slums often the broken are found here whom have not yet gone stray or managed to avoid becoming such.
"This is going to take a bit to crunch the data, so feel free to look around tell me if you see something you like and we can talk about an exchange."
Turing notes.
Meanwhile some distance away elsewhere in the slums a group of re lined suited heavy sentries and a few black guard are fanning out.
"How did we end up in a hole like this?"
"Simple you saw the mission briefing we need to confirm, and if we do? We Derez the target and anyone with em. Make it another one of those damn glitches went mental and rampaged."
"I don't like it."
"You don't have to like it you got your function, got it? Now lets hurry up on the sweep. I don't like being here any more than you do."
The security programs fan out as they continue their sweep.
- Corona Arclite has posed:
Great, and empathic weapon. Just what she needs. The concept of having to rely on it knowing what she wants when she needs to use it just makes Corona twitch a bit, before sighing again and 'holstering' the baton at her side. Hopefully it works when it needs to work.
And the shopkeeper -is- Turing? Well at least that makes this easy on that regard... unfortunately it being that easy just makes her more twitchy. "The things I do for my craft," she murmurs under her breath.
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Xiaomu inclines her head politely to Turing, internally recognizing the name - one of the grandfathers of computing; she's not sure if this Turing was named after him deliberately, or if it was just an interesting coincidence. If she had energy to offer in trade, she'd probably be browsing more actively in the shop; she's mostly just looking around, window-shopping as it were.
Although on the subject of windows, are there any in the shop? If so, she may be glancing out to check who's on the street ...
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"...hi!" Kyra grins. "Kyra. I've heard you and your partners talking through that mission the other night. It's cool to finally meet you in person." she pauses, "I'm surprised your partner's not here though."
Too bad her world doesn't have a Turing. Though that was the name that Deelel mentioned earlier, right? Inwardly, she shudders a little.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
Wait, weren't they LOOKING for a Turing? Now Rory's staring at Deelel with the MOST confused expression ever. What the heck are they all doing here? Buh?
- Reker (631) has posed:
So that's Turing? "Hiding in plain sight, huh?" Reker asks, as he shifts his position a little bit from the new revelation. Sure Turing is the one they were supposed to meet, but he still doesn't like the situation at hand. This place is probably too exposed. Too many doors, though the front one would be the most likely point of entry. These guys don't exactly do subtle.
- Deelel has posed:
Well it's not that alien of a name here Deelel had done digging a lot of digging to get the information. Deelel nods a little and chats about some very program things something about grid games, and a few other things go on between Deelel and Turing for the moment. Xiamou and maybe even Kyra would notice out the window that red lined programs are coming and one of them clearly is in heavy duty armour from the looks of him, if it's even a him.
Deelel's job was a pretense to get Turing to /talk/ to her in the first place it was likely if they asked about ISOs it would go badly, really quickly.
Generally basics were very to the point and direct and Turing pauses for a moment as she checks a feed.
"Odd the security feed's down...this is bad, very bad."
She mutters.
"I may have to cut this job short!"
She's looking nervous now and the Security programs are almost at the door! Those looking about might notice some odds and ends that might be of use what looks like flood lamps of some sort rest on a shelf, notable Corona might notice it . Rory might notice what might be a grapple of some sort and Kyra might spot what might have been some sort of portable power unit which might be explosive.
Reker's military mind is a hell of an asset here given Deelel is not trained or programed for such she's had to learn what she could by doing which has painful learning curve.
"Turing ... if this is what I think it is we're here to help."
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
"Security feed?" Xiaomu turns from the window to look at Turing. "You mean the one which would tell you if the local gendarmerie are coming to look for you or people like you?"
She pauses, looking out the window again, then switches her staff to her left hand and reaches over her shoulder with her right, unlocking her disc from its mount on her back. "I'm asking because there's some guys in black with red circuit-lights making their way down the street. One really big guy, heavy armor, a few in more ordinary-weight gear. If you've got a back door, now's probably a good time for all of us to use it."
For all Xiaomu's fooling around at better times, she's all business at the moment.
- Corona Arclite has posed:
You don't have to be an empath to notice the way Turing and Deelel start to tense up. If her tail was visible it would be twitching, because Corona doesn't really like the idea of what's coming without having a gun or something she's assured of rather than having to rely on a weapon that's suppose to just know what to do when it's needed.
However being a specialist at defense does have it's perks, and Corona adapts quickly. There's a part of her intelligence that just goes with what it has even if she doesn't entirely comprehend how, and that's the part that kicks into gear as she looks over the shop. Aha. She offers a quick "Pardon me, borrowing!" as she darts past the others to grab the floodlights off a shelf. It at least looks familiar, and it doesn't take her long to find a way to turn it up to the max.
Okay, now this she can work with.
"Get her outta here if ya can." Corona holds up the floodlights. "When they walk in I can blind 'em with these, but it pro'ly won't last very long."
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
Xaiomu speaks up about seeing red-lined guys outside. Kyra moves up to the window next to the kitsune to peek at them. "...I think the red lines mean CLU's forces. Which is bad. They might suspect that she is here if they heard rumors about the ISOs too." She moves away from the window slowly, worried that movement would attract their attention.
"I'm agreeing with Xiaomu here. I think it's time we all left the building. Like. Pronto. Grab what you need and go because one of those guys looks like he might be packing heavy ordinance."
That being said, Kyra will gladly help herself to what looks like an explosive device on the shelf. Even if it's not an explosive device, Kyra will figure out how to make it explode.
- Reker (631) has posed:
"Security feed is down?" Reker says, as he hears that being mentioned, "We're about to get attacked. Do you have a safe room?" Reker asks, as he grabs his ID disk off of his back, and picks up the weapon on his hip which looks like somebody took one of those staffs the troops usually use and cut it down to be one handed.
"Somebody barricade the door with something. Most likely they'll have sentries on the back door, but there'll be fewer than going out the front."
- Rory White (673) has posed:
Rory IS taking a look around the place. And her Muse helps her out of the confusion funk to realize... the gear spread around here is... VERY unusual.
And now there's worries about the security feed. Plus, the person they're looking for is right here...
"...Oh dear...!"
Trouble is coming NOW!
She goes scrounging around and decides to grab the grappling hook and look it over. "Why is this in here?!"
- Deelel has posed:
Turing is looking scared at this point she aboard her search and engages another protocol the screen flashes red. She enters in a string of command rapidly with almost mechanical precision and the terminal starts to purge it self.
"I started a purge, my employer won't be happy but? The alternative would get me cubed."
Yes let Tesler's forces get Java's files it would be bad news.
"Who are you and why should I even trus..."
She pauses.
"You offer me an alternative that has a chance I wont' be dead. You try anything I won't die alone I promise you that."
She seems to be quite tense. Turing notices Xiamou doesn't seem to realize much about Clu's people other than bad news. That's odd then again most of these people arte pretty odd, more odd than she is. Who are they Turing wonders?
"I was trying to trade or sell if, this is more than just an search engine!"
Outside Reker's words ring true as they move.
"We have activity, you know what they say a runner's got something to hide! Move! Capture and confirm if this is a bad lead they still want her for what she knows!"
Not one says the word ISO, hell no, they don't want to say it they almost seem /afraid/ of their target.
"You don't think this one's viral like Abraxas was?"
"...I hope not, we're not getting any viral signatures this one's stable."
They all are stable after all someone /twisted/ that ISO into the infamous virus.
Deelel moves to try move a crate in-front of the door and she nods to Corona.
"They will have light charges the door won't last long either way!"
"Yes there's a way out the back if we can make it to the access tunnels we should be able to make a go of it also forgive me. Being with me may be a death warrant for you all."
She start to move out as does Deelel who pulls her disc off her back.
"Xiamou and Kyra are right we need to go, come on Corona don't wait to long set them up on their own. The access tunnels are a maze we're going to need to use our light cycles!"
Deelel follows Turing out the Exit and there's a good reason the Black Guard don't have it covered, why? It's not on the plans. All their information reports to this being a solid /wall/.
The Black Guard, meanwhile are moving in and the lead one in heavy armours calls out.
"I the name of Clu Halt!"
- Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite considers that for a moment, then nods. "Good idea." She sticks one floodlight up on the shelf again, aimed at the doorway... grabs another bit off the shelves and sets it to go off at soon as someone steps through the door. Fortunately motion sensors are a small but advanced technology she's familiar with. "That oughta suprise em long enough ..." She hops down from where she was standing and scurries after the other. With the other floodlight, just in case she needs to blind someone again later.
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
A small exchange happens with Xaiomu over the radio. Fortunately for her, Kyra actually /likes/ the suggestion so she decides to go along with it rather than defy it out of hand. She looks around the rest of the room for something that might serve as a good tripwire to activate the explosive if she set up a trap. Assuming she does find something, she'll take it.
Kyra doesn't stick around after that, moving to join up with the other people fleeing for the tunnel. She tries to get ahead of them just a little so she can buy some time to set up a small booby trap with the explosive. That way if the Blackguards do follow them, they'll have to contend with a bomb.
- Reker (631) has posed:
"You guys go first, I'll bring up the rear." Reker says, as he waits for everybody else to clear out of the back of the building. He's been itching for a fight with these guys since Deelel firs told him about them. He does remember to activate his helmet, though, in order to obscure his face from them.
Once the helmet has digitized around his head, he moves towards the back, weapons at the ready in case that door comes down faster than they anticipated.
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Xiaomu is starting to follow the others out the back, but she just turns and *grins* as the Black Guard calls out to halt. She activates her helmet as Deelel said we should (and as Reker reminded her, by doing it himself!!) in case of running into bad guys, though - even though it hides the grin on her face.
"Whaddya mean 'in the name of Clu'?" she retorts. "You guys don't even HAVE a clue!!"
And with that, she lets her Identity Disc slip down to hang around her wrist, freeing her hand up to grasp the headpiece of her staff and pull out the blade concealed within. "XIAOMU FREEEEEZE!!!" she yells, jabbing her blade into the floor in front of her and unleashing Suiren's elemental magic ...
And as long as said magic *WORKS* here, she's aiming to conjure a solid wall of ice that divides the back of the shop (and the escape route) from the front of the shop (including the door and the Black Guards). She's trying to make it a couple of feet thick - a full meter, if time allows, although that'll chew through a fat chunk of her own personal energy; ideally it'll be thick enough to require a logic probe or similarly heavy equipment to break through in a hurry.
Once she's done putting up the ice wall, she heads through the tunnel with the others, sheathing her staff-sword and replacing her disc on her back, then pulling out the lightcycle's standby rod. She may be stumbling a bit after exhausting herself on the ice wall, though ...
- Rory White (673) has posed:
"...H-how did it get like this so quickly?!" Rory's startled. Yet one more weird thing in the Multiverse. Xiaomu's strange abilities are enough to get her understanding how quickly it is. Still clutching the grappling hook she heads out for the back with the others! "Now the only question is... what now?!"
- Deelel has posed:
The group makes some quick plans and so far is's a very good one. It's alien things the guard won't have an idea about, one way or another it should work pretty well as Corona moves to set up her floodlight trap while the others make their plays. Kyra does her thing and moves to head out with Deelel and Turing. It's not long before Corona joins them followed by Rory. Leaving only Xiamou, Reker and Rory in the shop for the moment.
The Lead Guard keeps his staff ready, and well Program laws are lot more /direct/ than human ones. They don't even have lawyers, because they check someone's ID disc for the time index of the crime.
The guard narrows his eye an is going for his staff, he suspect she's trying to do something much like he can do however. He brings it down as Xiamou's magic does work she starts forming a barrier of ice.
"What the?! Environmental control Privileges?! What the Mac is this?!"
He's so distracted he doesn't even comment on Xiamou's insult but one of the others is.
"Stop gawking and get through that ice!"
This now leaves Reker alone to face the System Monitor or if you will Black Guard patrol. Either way they are now trying to bust their way in but the led sends two of the detail off to look for alternate ways in.
The group fleeing would come to an access hatch and they would find both Deelel and Turing fighting with the thing.
"Well are we not just nulled. Someone put a new lock on this thing!"
Turing hunts for information but this tech looks /new/ so new she's not seen before she's going to need help from someone to breach it however she pauses.
"Why are you even doing this for me? What do you want out of me?"
Deelel meanwhile has deployed her staff and is looking to the group as they arrive. She's also got her helmet up and formed too.
"Rory can you get hatch we don't have long!"
Back at the shop one of the guard has a brain ans is setting a low yield charge to try and break through the ice. Reker is going to have his moment.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mnl5ksV68yc
- Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite glances over her shoulder for a moment, then grabs her baton. "Either you hack, or I'm doin' it my way. Which is -break- it." She shakes the baton. Then waggles the other end. "... Once I figure out how to make a hammer outta this thing...." Darn multitools! Takes forever to find the right one.
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Huh? Xiaomu looks blearily at the hatch, then leans against a wall to get her bearings better, tucking the lightcycle rod away for the moment. "Don't suppose anyone's got a bag of fried tofu?" she inquires blearily ... of course, she's sure nobody will. That really *is* her limit on fancy tricks, though.
- Reker (631) has posed:
Still up in the shop alone, Reker watches through the ice as the Black Guards set up a charge on the ice. He looks at them for a moment, considering his options. His ID disk in his right hand seems to hum for a second, before he locks it onto his back and grabs the two cut down staffs, wielding them like batons in either hand.
He looks at the side for a second, and then shakes his heada, "This is so dumb." He mutters to himself, before he takes a running leap and dives through the window to the side of the blocked door. He takes a quick roll as he hits the ground on the other side of the window and sweeps his leg around to catch one of the Black Guard's feet out from under him. Those batons ignite with energy as he swings the both of them at the second guard, trying to knock him into the one who just placed the charge, since he knows that charge is probably about to go off. If he can eliminate the both of them, or at least knock them out of the fight, it'll make the one guard that's left all the easier to deal with.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
"I-I wish I knew. That's freaky!" You know Rory's losing her cool when she starts using highly informal words like 'freaky.' She dashes along and away from Xiaomu's crazy magic, through the tunnels and... encounters the hatch. Her expression's pretty pale, but...
"I'll give it a try..."
This might take a bit but her fingers start flying at impossible speeds across the panel's interface.
The joys of being an AGI!
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
MEANWHILE IN THE TUNNELS...
tKyra had been moving quickly since the time given to set up a boobytrap was pretty short. Somehow, Kyra manages, crafting a bit of a tripwire trapp that will activate the bomb when pulled against. She's crafted it in a way and at a height to hope the pursuers tag it. If they aren't on foot-on a lightcycle perhaps, she has it up high enough that a vehicle would trigger it too.
She's done by the time Reker and Xiaomu bring up the rear, allowing her to point out where the trap was so nobody on their side sets it off.
"Why?" Turing asks and Kyra shrugs, "Nobody should have to get purged like that. It's just not right." It's all she offers before Kyra activates her own helmet.
- Deelel has posed:
Things are just going south here Deelel's on over watch at this point and she seems on edge. Turing pauses at Xiaomu.
"Tofu..? What is Tofu?"
The program looks very confused here, they do look very human, yet? Even with what they got in common they are alien in some ways to those whom have come to help.
Rory gets to work here and she is a high end Turing and even Deelel are staring at her now as she works like some kinds of system Admin program or System Utility program it's a sight to behold. for the other two. Everyone else is safe but what of Reker? Reker who is engaged the enemy that much is clear.
Reker now has lept out and as the timer it ticking down on the detonation charge blows shattering the ice. This is quite the bit of chaos which works in Reker's favour as the first guard hits the ground, and hits the ground hard he's not getting for a while from that. The other one however isn't so lucky as powered ends connect he shifted so it didn't hit his torso that save him but it costs him an arm which goes up in a shower of cubes, then he end sup going flying into the shop. That's when the spot light goes off, he's maimed and blind now.
The last guard however seems to be on the ball , for he drives his staff into the ground. There's a glowing pulse from the impact and the very ground starts to give way under Reker.
<This is team one we have a hostile two men down! We're at Street Seven, block four! Unknown military program!>
Reker should be fast enough to get away but it may be time to get the hell out of here. The last one did the smart thing and call for help.
Back in the tunnels as Kyra arrives Turing looks to her and says
"So you know what I am and ... your here. I didn't think anyone was left alive who cared most ... died with us."
She looks haunted and sighs, just at that moment Rory finishes getting through the lock and Turing looks to her.
"I will have to ask later but lets go."
she leaps down through it and one would hear the sound of a light cycle forming as she does so. Deelel follows suit as well
"Programs? WE ARE LEAVING!"
With that Deelel is gone into the tunnels below.
- Reker (631) has posed:
For his part, Reker is a little more carefree with his life than most people should be. Maybe it's because he had to respawn recently and doesn't have any skills that are nearly finished anymore that he will lose if he has to respawn again. Maybe he thinks this is all still just a game. Who can be sure.
When the ground starts to give out under him, he dives forward, not to the side, and not back, but straight at the program with the staff who's calling for help. He doesn't lash out with the sticks this time, instead he decides to go for a more, shall we say, distracting technique. He'd watched the programs put the charge on the ice, so he has a good idea of what to do.
He reaches out with his right hand as he nears his target, and taps him on one of the grenades, intent on arming it. He's assuming these work similar to the grenades in GGO and don't require any kind of fingerprint or anything. Otherwise this'll be really embarassing.
"Tag, you're it!"
Grenade armed or not, Reker sprints away from the Black Guard, headed for the back of the store, and the tunnel that the group has just opened up, "They called for backup, go go! Go!" He yells at the group as he comes around the corner towards them.
- Kyra Hyral (626) has posed:
"Some people still care. They've been quiet about it so far. Waiting for the right time to move. Obviously we can't wait forever and here we are." Kyra smiles behind the opaque face mask. "Just stick with us, we'll bring you somewhere that they can't hurt you."
Reker comes running in and Kyra's quick to point out the tripwire to him so he doesn't activate it. "Get you're lightcycle out, we're taking it the rest of the way!" she tells him as she pulls the baton off of her own suit.
She leaps down into the tunnels below, the light cycle forming in front and around her in freefall so it can hit the ground moving.
- Corona Arclite has posed:
"Don't gotta tell me twice!" Corona heads into the tunnel with everyone else, flicking the baton up between her hands like one would grab the handlebars as she jumps down. At least Aurora covered how this part works.
The light cycle not only hits the ground of the tunnel formed and running, but pops a short wheelie as it actually takes off. She doesn't have a hat to wave around but that doesn't stop Corona from giving a "Yeeehah!" as appropriate as the bike drops back to two wheels.
It may be an odd computer construct, but a motorcycle is a motorcycle. And that is one technology Corona is very intimate with.
- Xiaomu (707) has posed:
Lightcycle time, huh? Fortunately, the chance to catch her breath has let Xiaomu recover her equilibrium, so she pops through the hatch and activates her light cycle. She doesn't have a lot of skill on a real-world motorcycle, but hopefully lightcycles are more intuitive than that ... they're basically game equipment, right? And Xiaomu *DOES* know her games, almost certainly including at least one motocross-related title ...
"YA-HOOO!!!"
- Rory White (673) has posed:
The amazing thing is that with very few priveleges and no familiarity at all with the syste, Rory manages to adapt in blinding speed to the challenge. The door whooshes open after almost no time at all after she manages to access a hidden maintenance mode and bypass all of the permissions restrictions.
One could almost see her sighing in relief if she breathed. She doesn't so she instead just shoulder-sags. "This is a very strange system... the capture group must be very well-prepared!" But now it's time to RUN!
She's seen the Lightcycles once before, and they are SPEEDY!
Which is why she finally manifests her own and REVVS OFF!
- Deelel has posed:
Soon everyone is in the tunnels and the light cycles are going at high speed through the old tunnels under the city which date back to the early days of the GIRD, from local time which would be more than 700 years ago from how the locals keep time. Even if there were programs who were alive back then the old information is not always readily out there after all. With the Purge and the betrayal somethings got lost.
Turing is at a loss her mind's reeling out of nowhere a large number of at least system monitor class programs and one system admin program show up to save her? What's going on? She doesn't know Deelel is moving out on point with Turing at they go, her reflexes and that of Turings are inhuman with how fast they are responding to things ahead.
Deelel loops around going up the wall for a moment the coming back down. She does smile as she lived for this sort of thing. Driving was a passion she was not made for but loved it none the less. She keep tabs of everyone else and she's having fun. Turning can only wonder maybe there were users other than Flynn? Maybe but she'll follow her strange saviours now out into the out lands, where they can make their way to a gate and out.
Top Side a woman in a light suit with red lines comes flanked by another six heavy sentries.
"...What happened here Program?"
"Commander? An unknown Military Program, there was another which some sort of environmental privileges as well and there were likely more."
The woman narrows her eyes looking the Guard over. The one who got clonked by Reker is up and dragging the armless one out.
"MEDIC!"
He calls out and the woman nods once moving to help him with the wounded.
"We need an evac light chopper we have injured."
"Commander Paige but what does this mean? Who were they?"
"It seems out ISO has friends, there may be more ... than just the Renegade to worry about. Sweep the area I want anything of note found, the target likely purged her files but we may recover something yet. It seems out intelligence was more important than I thought."
