Date of Scene: | 14 May 2015 |
Location: | Boston-666 |
Synopsis: | Psyber meets Mordred about appropriate outlets for aggression. |
Cast of Characters: | 12, 253 |
- Psyber (253) has posed:
What could Psyber possibly want with Mordred?
Knowing Psyber's general nature, it's probably just to hang out and chat or something. The meeting place for the two of them is fairly mundane. Due to the onset of Summer, the sun is going down later and later. Right now, it's just at Sunset on the piers around Boston Harbor. Some of the food stands are closing for the night, while others are opening. There's a pretty decent spread of food if Mordred wants to pick up a bite.
The piers are actually pretty bustling with tourists and the view would make it almost seem romantic if Mordred and Psyber weren't almost totally platonic in every interaction they've ever had. The half-angel is kinda walking the length of the pier over and over, up and down it as he thinks and smokes a cigarette.
- Mordred (12) has posed:
The player having no idea where they're staying right now, this pose will omit mentions of Mordred's current life arrangements and prior occupations before showing up.
The Servant appears at the harbor, forming out of red and blue wisps of magic in the air. She's wearing a pair of jeans, with a white shirt and that cool jacket Psyber got her. That one isn't going to go out of style anytime soon.
"So what, are we taking a boat."
Why say hi when you can get to the point.
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"No," Psyber answers sarcastically, "I'm out here to ask you to marry me."
"I wanted to see how you've been. It's been a long couple months and I had to cut off our social contact while Nathan was having a meltdown," Psyber comments, putting his hands in his pockets and looking over to Mordred, "So now that shit's calmed itself the fuck down, I'm trying to re-open communication. Figure out how you've been doing."
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Oh, you know. My house burned. Coulda killed the cause but my master was like noooo we need him alive, don't shank him. That was a thing." Mordred shrugs. "She's taking it weird. Talking to herself a lot, sorta. Not bad self-talking, just... schemer self-talking. Said she'd send your BFF a copy of all her plans or something. Might already have, I don't intercept the outgoing mail."
Too much work.
Especially all those ban appeal requests for video games.
"So what, we're just going to hang out on the piers? I mean the view's nice but this ain't prime excitement."
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"I appreciate you not killing him," Psyber says in a somewhat honest tone, looking sideways to Mordred, "Despite the Shajem of Rage inside you, or perhaps because of it, you have become less Violent in recent months." Psyber replies in an even voice, looking over to Mordred.
"I know she's planning, though. I'm not allowed to know most of it, but whatever it is I guess I'm going to back her play when it comes down to it," His hands go to his pockets, "Anyway, I did have a thing I called you here for."
He points over towards an 8 foot tall werewolf, "That guy owes me 800 bucks. Said if I wanted the money, I had to take it from him." He kinda trails off the statement there.
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Yeah well when you have an angry thing inside you always asking to be let out to play I guess you learn to not let it do what it wants. It's not like I wanted to change." Tsun tsun? CLOSE ENOUGH. Mordred huffs, crosses her arms and glances away.
"Anyway, she'll probably let you in on it, she kinda promised an integral copy of her plans with some sort of key to reading it all? I dunno. Gotta ask her, not me." Communication's not overflowing these days, anyway.
Psyber's matter causes the Servant to grin and regain her composure, at least. "Oh, is that the second part of your proposal? Asking me to beat up a guy? You shouldn't have."
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"That was to Nathan, not to me," Psyber says in a serious tone. He knows Elliana well enough to know there's parts he won't be in on. Plus she told him that some parts were going to be a secret and were going to hurt him.
He looks over to Mordred, "Anyway, yeah, I guess. I don't disagree with the use of force or with violence as a solution, when applied to appropriate situations or contructive outlets. Boxing... roughing that guy up a little to get me some money he owes..." He waves a hand vaguely.
"If you do it right, with enough restraint, you can have a little violence and get that job done. An exercise in letting go while still holding back."
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Yeah, yeah, I know the song and dance. Dead men pay no taxes. Though, dead men can't stop you from raiding their house. Just sayin'." With this factual history lesson on the table, the Servant gives a wide shrug. "But, I get it, just a bit rough. I can do a bit rough. Who's this guy and what does he do?"
Inwardly she hopes 'he's tough and defends himself' is in there, because it's easier to justify 'not being gentle' if the guy is actually putting up a threatening fight. But if he doesn't, oh well, stick to the plan for once.
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"Normally, I get work from a lot of people for mundane stuff," Psyber says, teasing Mordred a bit with it being boring before he adds, "But that guy? He's a bouncer at a local club. Takes care of rough guys that start fights in bars. Hired me to serve his ex-girlfriend, a succubus, with a restraining order. Magic eyes, couldn't break up with her."
Psyber slaps Mordred on the back, "You get my 800 bucks, and two hundred of it is yours." He grins widely. This might be a test.
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Mystic Eyes, yeah, huge pain in the ass. Thank god for Magic Resistance." She does know her basics. Her mother was an alchemist slash magus, she spent time with freaking Merlin, and let's face it the days of Camelot were days of dealing with magical bullshit all the time. Oddly, especially around lakes. Something about lakes. Never really got it.
"Sure, seems easy enough. And more exciting than boxing. So where's this guy live? I take it not far from here or you'd have called me somewhere better."
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"Haha, actually." Psyber points to the werewolf again, "He works at that bar a couple buildings down. He just picked up his pay and was gonna go buy some stuff. Figured you could just intercept him on the pier~," Psyber grins to her, looking over at the servant chipperly. It's an almost perfect arrangement of situation, but then again, Psyber runs a huge business so it's not infeasible.
"I figure, if you can do something like this. Collect bills from deadbeats that wanna threaten me, instead of pay or negotiate a payment plan, I can get Elliana to vouch and maybe put you on payroll. Get you a productive social circle of not sociopaths."
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Oh. That's unusually convenient, sure."
Mordred will not question an easy job.
"Got a picture? Wait, hang on. You want to pay me to beat up people who owe you money? WAIT. No. That's not the part I want to object to. I think it's the sociopath one." She considers. Lifts a hand, lifts two fingers up. Touches one, muses. Touches the other, muses.
"Yes, it's the sociopath one. No. The productive one."
Damnit.
"Fuck you I'm questioning all the things, there."
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"Your master is a woman who, for all I do adore her as one of my best friends, had to progressively learn human interaction at a genuine level over a four year period," He points out, thinking it over, "You are in a faction in part led a woman who attempted to kidnap a seventeen year old girl to hold her hostage because negotiations were too hard."
"I'm not saying the Union is full of winners, but the Feds are kinda," He wobbles his hand, "I'm also not trying to get you to LEAVE the Confederacy. But I know you wanna start getting back in with the Round Table, right? Having some alternative social contacts outside the Feds might be good for you."
He holds out his arm to her, "Here. If I upset you, you can slug me in the arm to make up for it."
- Mordred (12) has posed:
Mordred considers punching Psyber.
And then she just sort of lowers her hand.
"Yeah okay I can't argue that. Your general is a ticking timebomb though, don't you go writing that off. And you know, I'm not sure Dun Realtai's such a good idea. No 'ffense to Father, but... he's welcoming people with less than noble intentions in his ranks. Bad shit's gonna happen, and it won't be my fault this time."
But, obligations. She can't say more than that.
"'nyway, you got a picture of this guy I have to slug? Or a description?" It might help! Or she could start slugging people at random. That's fine too.
- Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber walks along with Mordred for a bit, "Nathan's a time bomb. And he almost killed one of my best friends." He agrees with Mordred, "I can hope we defused it for now."
"Dun Realtai is good in spirit," Psyber says, leaving the statement at that, "I will not speak out against Bedivere or your father, for all I dislike some of its regular residents." Loros, mostly. Others.
Psyber fishes out a picture from his jacket and hands it to Mordred. On the front is a big looking guy with a goatee and a shaved head. On the back is a giant furry werewolf. It shouldn't take more than about a couple minutes for Mordred to pick him out. Even without transforming, he's a half-foot taller than Psyber.
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"I'm not saying they're idiots. I respect Father and... Sir Bedivere's intentions are where it counts. I'm saying our rules, traditions, vows, were not made with the Confederacy in mind. They were made with like-minded people in mind. And this might cost them a lot in the future."
Mordred puts the matter aside as well; tht's that for now.
She takes the picture, looks on both sides. "A werewolf, huh. OK, I can handle that. I bet. Doesn't look like just any other guy either."
Off they go. And finding him is easy!
The five foot tall blonde knight will just walk straight up to the guy, get in his way. "Yo. Got a second, Big McLargeHuge?"
- Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber hangs back and watches while Mordred goes to work.
The guy is actually hanging out looking at some tacky knock-off Rolexes being sold at a store. He stops and puts down a watch as Mordred comes over to him.
"For you babe? Sure. You come by the bar where I work later, I can spare you a whole lot of seconds~." He gruffly states, looking down at her.
- Mordred (12) has posed:
She WAS going to ask nicely.
Was.
Mordred's left hand pulls back, and then just goes straight for a boosted hook. Not enough to kill or cause permanent damage, but then this guy's a werewolf, he can probably take it anyway. Her intent's to floor him-- away from collateral. Not through a store window or anything like that. That'd escalate things needlessly.
"I'm not a babe. Also you owe a dude a thousand dollars."
- Psyber (253) has posed:
The hand connects solidly. To this guy's credit, it's like hitting a solid slab of meat. He'd probably be a mid-20s PL Elite under most circumstances. The hit staggers him back and he grunts, slamming square into the railing of the pier and slumping down against it as he holds his stomach.
"Damn, ow." He grunts, trying to stand up but clearly having had the wind knocked out of him (and probably a couple busted rubs). He looks to Mordred and says, "Ugh, what're you, his muscle? Can't he come get it himself?"
Still, he reaches into his jacket and pulls out an envelope. Taking a stack of cash out of it, he holds it out to her, "Here. A thousand. We're square, right?"
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Yeah I guess I am actually. Hadn't thought of it that way. We're square, have a good day!" Polite, no hassle. No more blows while he's down. She'll count the money to be sure, but she's going to respect the 'restraint' part of the deal. This is a BIT more fun than just killing, anyway.
Assuming he doesn't come after her, she'll get back to Psyber, and briefly rub her hand. She wouldn't show it to that werewolf's face but that actually hurt her knuckles. Coulda been worse, he could have bitten or claws her, at least.
"Here, eight hundred. Already got my cut."
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"Hey see, look? You refined the fee. If I have to send you after people, they pay 25 percent over the original cost," The half-angel comments chipperly as she hands him the cash. It was all there and she made a clean couple hundred dollars.
"If you want the job, it's yours. Couple conditions, though. Get Elliana to sign on board with the idea of you working for me, that's the first one," And then he looks at her seriously, "Second one is this: Swear to me on... I dunno, something that will invoke your knightly honor. That you won't betray or leak secrets from my office, that is."
- Mordred (12) has posed:
Well, it was just twenty percent.
But if Psyber's giving her a five percent raise on her first day of work she's not going to argue with THAT rate. The more serious questions though, she hrms thoughtfully.
"I'm in. Uh. I'll ask master, sure? That second one, though. Well, I think any Confed stupid enough to ask someone to betray you is gonna end up in a world of pain and truths regardless, but if it makes you feel better, I swear on my master's life that I won't betray your office as an entity. Can't promise ya anything about you. No more than master can. Long as you understand factional work's business and nothin' personal. But I'll turn down anything that comes down to attacking yer place. Pretty sure that's how master already operates anyway."
The amount of times Elliana could have struck out and didn't probably speaks for itself there.
- Psyber (253) has posed:
"Swearing on Elliana's life? That will work for me, yeah," Psyber says in a serious tone. No need to really handshake on it or anything, if she's giving her words like that, "But yeah, business is business. I just try to keep my office a neutral ground. You'll probably get the same kind of restricted access she has, eventually. After a probation period of a month or something."
He rubs his hands together, "Welcome aboard, then."
- Mordred (12) has posed:
"Sure, sounds fair," Mordred says, nodding, before stuffing the money in her jacket's pocket. She crosses her arms and glances around, hrming.
"I'm hungry, though. Can we stop somewhere, my treat. Buffets only." Fuck all other restaurants and their "reasonable" portion sizes.
