Village Groot and Meat
Date of Scene: 24 May 2015
Location: Pine Core
Synopsis: (A bad pun on Meet and Greet...)

Rocket disarms an old bomb that some digimon found.

Cast of Characters: 781, 782

Golden (782) has posed:
The 'village' has sent out a very quiet call for Groot and Rocket, having heard they could possibly help with the plants. It's well hidden, though there's probably some tell tale signs of inhabitation. But ultimately the trail leads to a cluster of rocks that form a large natural cave with a truly large fir tree with roots intertwined into the rocks. Signs point to something really large living here, with claws.

Rocket (781) has posed:
Rocket and Groot, upon receiving the call, fly the Rack 'n' Ruin to a starport out in the void and then, though a series of warp gates they find their way to one in close proximity of the location they were asked to visit and then walk - well, Groot walks, Rocket rides on his shoulder - from there to the area of the village in Pine Core. Both keep their eyes out for potential hazards, including the kind of various dangerous digimon fauna Golden had warned them about when they met him in a different area simply as a precaution. Rocket is armed, a rifle nearly as large as him is strapped to his back and a pair of large, for him, pistols are strapped to his thighs - gunslinger style.

Golden (782) has posed:
There isn't really a tell-tale sign that this is digimon territory, no markings like on the ruined temple that Groot and Rocket ran across Golden at before. There is signs that the cave is inhabited though, with a dim firelight visible in the cave. A bulky shadow shifts and suddenly the firelight is blocked and the dull thud of heavy footsteps can be felt and heard.
From the cave emerges a red dinosaur-looking creature with huge green ridge-plates on his back and wicked looking claws on his hands and feet. The bright blue eyes look surprised to see the tree man and orange-clad raccoon there, snorting a bit. A low rumbling voice starts speaking from the dinosaur digimon. "Hrm... giant walking tree..." one claw gestures at Groot, then the claw and big head moves to gesture at Rocket. "... and furry firepower." The tyrannomon taps his chin thoughtfully.
"You must be the two Golden told us about then." He finally says.

Rocket (781) has posed:
"I am Groot!" <<Golden called for us, so we came!>> Groot exclaims. "If we aren't then I'm going to faint from surprise. We're here because we got a signal from Golden," Rocket calls down to the red dinosaur creature before climbing down Groot's back and then stepping forward between the arboroform's legs. "We weren't told any specifics though, so what's up?"

Golden (782) has posed:
The Tyrannomon ohs... "Golden called you guys? Man, he was just here, but. Guess couldn't hurt. Hope you don't mind children, taking care of a few. They found something in the back of the cave. I'm called Bigwig. Come on with me."

Rocket (781) has posed:
"Children? As long as they don't put stuff into my fur I'll be fine with them, Bigwig," Rocket says. "I am Groot." <<Lead the way,>> Groot says. As the pair follow the Tyrannomon into the cave, Rocket asks, "'Something', eh? What kind of 'something' is it that you found?"

Golden (782) has posed:
Bigwig lumbers into the cave, which has about a half-dozen small round beings talking and chasing each other, only about chest high to Rocket. The tyrannomon hushes them and tells them to not bother Rocket or Groot, since they are distracted by the arboroform and anthromorphic racoon for a moment. New people! One of them even asks the pair if they're digimon like them.
Finally, Bigwig gets them to where a heap of compost seems to be farming mushrooms in neat rows and there's water pooling on the bottom of the cavern floor. The pungent smell of the compost clings to the nose here. But the tyrannomon gestures towards the back. "We were digging more space for more mushrooms, and we found this."
It looks like a large metal object that a tree has grown around, embedded in the cavern wall.

Rocket (781) has posed:
Before Rocket can answer the younglings, Groot speaks: "I am Groot. I am, Groot. I am Groot." <<No, we are not digimon, I am a Flora colossus. You can call me Groot. My companion is an augmented mammalian life form from an unknown planet.>> Groot's incomprehensible explination, if it was understood, would let anyone listening to him know that they have yet to interact with enough Earthly fauna to recognize him as a raccoon.

Smiling at the kids, Rocket says, "Hi, nope, not digimon. I'm Rocket and as my friend said you can call him Groot." The pair follow Bigwig to the compost area. Groot is crouching as the cave is not tall enough for him to stand at his full height and Rocket is clearly bothered by the stench but stalwartly not commenting upon it beyond his body language. "Hey, that looks interesting," Rocket says as he leans in close to examine the object.

Golden (782) has posed:
Bigwig is crouching too at this point. "Sorry, it's cramped. Haven't dug enough for big guys like us to be comfortable down here. Mushrooms for food, and some kind of metal thing. I was thinking of digging it out and selling it, see if I can get some real food for it. But uh, I don't really know any place to go to find out if it's worth anything."
It's round... ish. There's panels on it. It /might/ have been olive drab green at some point, and it has some rust on it. It /might/ be a bomb. Maybe.

Rocket (781) has posed:
Speaking to his friend, Rocket asks, "Groot, can you get it out of these roots without jarring it?" Groot nods, "I am Groot." <<I can.>> he says as he reaches over Rocket and touches the root structure. While Rocket is pulling a toolkit oug of a pouch located at the small of his back, the roots begin to writhe and ungulate like mating snakes, pulling away from the metal without jossiling it. ZZZZIIPPP Rocket opens the toolkit and unfolds it first like a book and then like a centerfold from the center of the book leaving a large variety of tools at easy access. He then pulls out an electronic device and says, "Voice Command: Activate." From the device an electronic voice says: "I am the property of Timely Inc. Mail Division, and /must/ be returned as soon as..." Rocket cuts it off, "I hear ya. Give me a break. Can you sense any explosives in this thing in front of us?" The scanner has a feature for scanning packages for explosives... but he isn't sure if it will detect this though a metal shell.

Golden (782) has posed:
Bigwig looks at the pair curiously as the roots move. "Uh, everything okay?"
The device detects multiple shaped charges in a row, with a large incindiary device after these, designed to penetrate and then incinerate the interior compartments of heavily armored vehicles after being launched out of a large rocket tube. It is most definitely a bomb, and who knows how long it has been here.

Rocket (781) has posed:
"/That's a BOMB./" the electronic voice says. "/Return me to Timely Inc. at.../" Rocket cuts the thing off mid sentence by saying, "Voice Command: Deactivate." and it says "/Deactivating./" as it complies. As Rocket puts away the tempermental scanner Groot says, "I am Groot," <<Don't worry, Rocket knows what he's doing,>> to Bigwig.

Rocket nods at Groot's comment but doesn't translate. "Keep it steady there with some of those final roots, Groot," he orders his friend who immediately complies even as Rocket pulls out the right tool for the job and begins removing the shrapnel plate on the first of the shaped charges. Speaking to Bigwig without looking away from his task, Rocket says, "You might want to evacuate the cave and make darn sure that those kids don't bump into us while I'm doing this." The plate comes off to show a tangle of wires around some sort of explosive material and a detonation device.

Golden (782) has posed:
Bigwig ohs... "Yeah." And trundles off to get everybody out of the cave. There's only about a dozen digimon or so, judging from the voices the pair hear as Bigwig gets everybody moving. A smaller blue and white saurian digimon comes down with a sack and starts grabbing the mushrooms that have come out of the compost and shoving them in the sack. "Gotta get the food, gotta find a new place if this one blows up." the veemon mumbles as he tries not to bump Rocket or Groot.
The bomb interior has a damp earthy smell, and when Rocket opens it up, centipedes, earthworms, and other small crawling things come swarming out, their hiding place disturbed. While the bomb's design is not too complex, the fact that the shell itself has been breached enough to allow dirt and organisms in presents a problem since now one has to dig around the interior to find the bits to disarm it.

(OOC- Veemon reference: http://wikimon.net/Veemon)

Rocket (781) has posed:
Rocket remains focused on his job, although in this case that includes stabbing a truely nasty looking critter with a screwdriver after removing the last of the shrapnel plats. "Groot, can you get the dirt out of these with some careful root manipulation?" he asks as he cleans the screwdriver by burrying it into the dirt by stabbing downwards. He then shakes the soil off the tool as pale, fresh roots work their way into the soil and delicately remove the soil from around the parts of the explosive devices. "I am Groot," <<That is easy, Rocket,>> he says regarding the response.

Golden (782) has posed:
The veemon peers at Rocket and Groot. "Hey, how big a boom? Little? Not so little? Freaking huge?" He says in a hushed whisper, somehow afraid that being too loud will set the bomb off.
With Groot's green-thumb aid, the bomb's guts are mostly cleared of the dirt and bugs. Just those little bits of soil that cling to everything are left, really. The only way it could get cleaner is if somebody rinsed the interior with water. The bomb is easy to disarm now, being something along the lines of being Earth 1940's technology. It goes pretty smoothly for Rocket.

Rocket (781) has posed:
"Small crater sized," Rocket says off handedly as he, holding a pair of cippers, visually traces wireing in one of the devices. It might give some observers the equivelant of a heart attack when he finally makes his decision and performs a surgical strike into the heart of the first device. CLIP Once that wire is clipped he glances over the other identical devices and rapidly repeats the action both of them. CLIP CLIP

"I am Groot!" <<Rocket, you are being cautious, aren't you?>> If trees could sweat, Groot would be doing so. Rocket chuckles softly and spends a few moments examining the incindary charge behind the three shaped ones and clips a wire there as well. "All disarmed," he says. Then, with a slight bit of mischieviousness in his voice he asks, "Mind if I dispose of these for you?"

Golden (782) has posed:
The veemon uhs... "I'm sure Bigwig won't mind! Especially since we didn't all blow up thanks to you!"

Rocket (781) has posed:
"Do you have a bag we can use?" Rocket asks and then quickly adds, "And maybe some of that meat on a stick you guys grow?"
