Vacation at Costa Del Sol
Date of Scene: 07 June 2015
Location: Hydaelyn <HD>
Synopsis: Yari Takane changed Scene 2401's Title to: Yari's on vacation in Costa Del Sol. It's time for Sanary to meet Yari's mom! Gaius Van Baelsar helps.
Cast of Characters: 522, 691, Sanary Rondel

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The sun was shining brightly over the beautiful white sands of Costa Del Sol. The waves were crashing in and even on this summer day, the breeze was keeping it refreshingly cool with the smell of the sea. Over on the Castrum side a few of the XIV Legion were on break and enjoying the sun. A few even playing beach volley ball which they seen take place somewhere on the Multiverse.

For Yari and Sanary though, they were to meet someone special here today and meet them over at a stone and wooden structure with a self service bar and a waterfall running down the rocks not far from the location feeding a stream heading out to the ocean.

Thankfully this location was also in its closed off area, so the Eorzeans don't have to deal with the Garleans on this side of the beach.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary was tense, to say the least. She was dressed in her finest/only suit, a dark purple affair consisting of a suit jacket, matching pants, a vest underneath, and even a vest and tie under the suit to complete the ensemble. Her hair was cleaner than usual, having been recently washed and tied back into a tight knot without the usual canary decoration, and her combat gear was nowhere to be seen.

Needless to say, she looks completely out of place here with all the vacationers not too far away from the meeting place. She's here a little earlier than she would normally be for a meeting, and she's even washed her eyepatch! There's got to be a good reason for all of this, right?

It's just a matter of actually getting everything together now. And not making a fool of herself.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari might be part lizard, but she /loves/ the beach. Particular one populated by her fellow Garleans, rather than the Eorzean scum not all that far away. But she has other things to worry about, as Yari leads the other girl towards the bar in question.

Similarly, Yari has dressed herself up for the occasion. With Sanary going for that wonderful purple suit, the Centurion has chosen a matching silken purple dress. It's another one-strap affair like her red one, but a little looser at the hips and more flowing in the sea breeze. She's worn /heels/ here, and even the ninja is having some trouble with them. Thankfully she has backup sandals in a bag with her.

Her hair, rather than the usual pigtails, has been tied back and braided. Both have really gone all out!

Yari sneaks a smooch and squeeze to Sanary.

"Don't be nervous. It will go well." Then, to the bar!

"Give me an Angry Legatus, on ice. Make it a double!"

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
Drinks come and it takes a bit. However it wont be long till a woman can be seen walking toward them, only thing is-- where they are dressed in their best, she is far from it. The woman has her hair slightly down which hangs on her shoulders. A deep green bikini top, with bikini bottoms and a veil-like skirt sash around her waist.

The woman had a few scars on her body, but over all she had beautiful body that could fit any gymnast, and there was sandals on he feet. Age had not found her at all, because she looked far younger then in her 50s and that oval 'gem' could be seen in the center of her forehead.

She comes up silently on the two and her thin fingers trace along the edges of their chairs before she leans in between the two of them with a smile on her face. "My my. Are you two so nicely dressed for such an occasion. Lord Van Baelsar said you were nervous, but never thought my dear Takane would be so concerned to impress."

Without a moment of rest, the woman steps back, placer her hand under her chin. "You," She says with a slight motion of her other hand resting at her below, pointing to Sanary. The voice becoming more of a predator, but still gentle. "Let me see stand straight and center."

This was indeed Yari's 'mother'. Lady Isaura Van Vitulus of the IX Legion.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary nearly jumps out of her skin at Yari's sudden arrival, eventually relaxing and giving her a peck in return. "H-hey, Yari. I hope so. This.. Uh. I've read of some real crazy stuff happening with this type of thing before, so..."

Breathe. She needs to remember to breathe. Sanary closes her eye to take a deep breath of the fresh sea air before reopening it and smiling lightly. It's still incredibly tense and awkward, but it's... Better than before? And once they reach the bar... "Milk tea and apple syrup."

She's developing her own taste now! She doesn't have much time to enjoy it or even see the bartender's reaction to that strange order before her attention is drawn to the voice behind her, however, and any hint of ease in her expression goes right out the window when the healer sits straight up.

So this is Yari's mother. Truly an intimidating presence! Still, this is what Sanary had been preparing for. In one smooth motion, she rises from her seat and steps away from it, then offers the woman a bow at her waist not unlike that of a proper gentleman. "Yes, ma'am. It's an honor to meet you. Sanary Rondel, at your service."

She sounds calm, and it's clear she's practiced that line several times. Even her posture is good! If only she wasn't sweating bullets and if all the tension from the rest of her body hadn't concentrated itself in her jaw.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Siiip. Yari briefly looks to Sanary's order. A smirk.

"My little Sanary is growing up~." She teases lightly, just before fingers crawl about their seats and the young ninjette lets out an utterly girly little squeak of surprise.

Even now, her mother has decades of skill and experience on her, enough that she's outright blushing at being snuck up on. To her credit, she's forced to hide away a kunai she's kept on her person. Even here, assassination is a threat.

Then she's standing, and saluting.

"Lady van Vitulus! Thank you for meeting us here!" Comes Yari, formal, but with an uncharacteristic nervousness to her voice. Though she doesn't show it as much as Sanary, she too has her heart hammering in her chest. Worst of all, she /knows/ her mother knows. Awkward.

And doesn't even go to at-ease as it's Sanary's turn to get looked over. Eyes run from Sanary, to the Legatus, and back.

There's a little pride in her look to Sanary though! Nervous or not, she's killing the attitude and posture!

"Mmm! I...well, some customs in the Multiverse require it. Besides, I wanted to match Sanary's efforts. I will not become a burdensome partner!" She ends with characteristic feeling. Au Ra or not, she's a Garlean through and through.

Ahem. "You look well, Lady van Vitilus." There's the tiniest injection of warmth there. She can't so openly speak, but it's the subtle banter she's used to around the woman. Yari already looks more relaxed than she has in an age, despite concerns.

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The woman's eyes were like swords as they stare directly at Sanary. There may been a moment of silence, perhaps to long for anyone' comfort, unless you were just use to how this Legatus operated. With a quiet, ghostly step she started to gently walk around Sanary, never changing her posture or her gaze. Like a shark slowly swimming around its unexpected prey.

"Sanary," Those words roll off her tongue gently. "Rondel." The last name much sharper however. Eventually Isaura comes to halt in front of Sanary once more. Those eyes never seeming to lose their focus or place. She then lowers her arms and reaches out with her hand, unless Sanary moves away, those fingers will gently take hold of the young lady, and try to move her head side to side under the critical eye.

For Yari-- this is probably common. For Sanary, well, this is probably very odd. "Are you sure this is the specimen you desire to be with, Takane? She seems very... feeble, but promising. Though I do admit," Her hand at last moves away with gentle slide of the finger before turning to face Yari, "I would have hoped you brought home something with a bit more... package." Van Vitulus then shrugs gently. "Oh well, who am I to speak of choices of bedside manners."

She then walks over to Yari and paces around her as well, before reaching over to fix the collar just slightly. "Why thank you Centurion. A compliment is always good to have at a lady of my age and it seems Lord Van Baelsar has been taking very good care of you. Your horns actually don't look damper and your scales are starting to get a proper shine."

There was a soft smile, a motherly smile even in her eyes, before she lets out a gentle sigh. The child she has raised was indeed becoming a woman. A fine one at that. "Please resit and enjoy your drinks. Let us talk."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
At least Yari looks about as tense as Sanary's feeling. It's a small relief, although it's definitely not evident on the healer's face as Van Vitulus looks her over. Despite every fiber of her being telling her to watch the woman, however, weeks of training in combat, tactics, and handling nearly-dead people are all that's keeping her focused and facing wherever Isaura's hands will aim her.

Being called feeble isn't really doing her self-esteem many favors, though, and she does shrink juuust a bit at that. It's not enough to break her out of her semi-disciplined stance, however! What does is...

"P... Package?" There's a muffled snort at first, potentially mistaken as the wind or someone else from further away. It's much harder to hide when she just starts snickering, though, eventually covering her mouth with her hand and shaking her head slowly. "I... I definitely don't have one of those. Would probably notice if I did."

Her jaw isn't clenched any more, at least! Nodding to the Legatus before taking a seat, a great deal of the tension in Sanary's face seems to be gone. Granted, it's a lot easier to disperse it everywhere else while sitting, and she's still looking a little stiff. "Thanks-er. Thnak you for coming out here to meet us today. I-uh. I'm a healer with the Confederacy. Axe-fighter, too, and I've got armor to... Block things."

she can only go down from here.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
The usual inspection by her mother to Sanary doesn't even register on Yari's 'worry-o-meter', at least until the head inspection begins. Then, she's forced to not /smile/. Her mother is a frightening woman, and seeing her lover worked over is a test of Sanary's will and spirit! Yari looks on hopefully!

At her mother's question, she stands up taller. Eyes level with the Legatus, she's all business for a moment, young and stubborn.

"She is a loyal woman who has survived when others have not, and has never betrayed me. I will accept no other. She has proven herself to me, and will do so to the Legion in time." A strong statement of confidence!

Then she actually blushes, and looks away. Even Yari isn't above the occasional pout at her mother!

Then she sits with a sigh, letting out all of her tension. She drains half of her drink. Legatus /and/ parent is a rough combination on a young woman.

She then is having her collar fixed, leaning up slightly to let her mother preen. Yari smiles here.

"I have been taking good care of myself. Even the..." mutter molting mutter "Is not so bad with some help from Confederate medical." A glance to a certain medic beside her!

"Lord van Baelsar is more than I expected." She says. Simple words, but there's respect there not unlike to a father rather than just a leader.

Sanary's snickering has Yari blushing a bit. Her mouth opens, she reconsiders, and then closes it.

And then drains the rest of her drink as Sanary is stammering.

"She fought well at the operation on Reptilon. I doubt I would have come back alive without her healing magic."

Then she tosses poor Sanary a bone here! "Tell the Lady Legatus where you are from, hmm, Sanary?" A glance to her mother.

"How are things at home?"

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The female Legatus takes a seat near Yari, but where she can stare directly at Sanary. Her inspection perhaps was far from over. Now it was just--- more casual. "Stop stuttering so much." The woman says directly to Sanary, glazing over the kind words from Yari. "If you are to be someone worthy, you need to cease your stuttering and take firm hold in your words."

The woman then places her index finger down on the bar table. "If you can not be firm, then you are weak. No matter how much you have done." Those eyes sharpen then, there was hiss in her words, like a viper ready to strike.

Then a male voice cuts from all this. Stern, but knowing to all three of them. Gaius Van Baelsar has arrived in his more casual of clothing, causing the man at the bar to snap a salute. "You are being to harsh, Van Vitulus. She can be firm when it is to act upon it."

The woman glances over. "...Van Baelsar. I was wondering when you would arrive." She then crosses one leg over the other as he walks by to side on the /other/ side which may be near Sanary. Isaura then looks over to Yari. "Home is well, for now. There has been a few citizens who have forgotten their place, but nothing that we as the Empire can not handle."

She then orders herself a drink, before her eyes go back to Sanary. "Yes," there was that serpent smile. "Tell me of your home."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
There's a slight blush on Sanary's cheeks at all that puffing up from Yari, and she tries to distract herself briefly with a sip of that tea. The mention of the molting does make her pause for a moment, trying to recall just when that last molting session was. "I'll be taking care of... That again you need me for it." Thankfully, she doesn't actually name what THAT is, although she does give the Au Ra a brief nod and smirk.

Just because she's on medical doesn't mean can't tease her a little about that.

Isaura's command and choice of seat does cause her to straighten up again, though, and she takes a moment to recompose herself before responding. "Yes, ma'am. Lady Van.. Vitulus." The words definitely seemed to have an effect on her, her jaw tensing again in an ironic attempt to not show weakness. Gaius' arrival is rather timely, though, giving Sanary a chance to straighten herself out once more and regain some of that confidence that went flying off moments earlier.

"Sir." She stands up briefly to give him that same practiced bow and an appreciative grin before sitting again, taking a slow breath before turning back to Isaura.

"I'm from a border village between Plegia and Ylisse. We didn't have a name for the place since it was..." She trails off and takes a strategic sip of her tea to reconsider her plan of attack. Talking about a shitty village isn't flattering at all!

"... My family raised a lot of pigs. Good meat, and one of them made for a great guard. Now, I'm working for the Confederacy in medical and in another company as security and in medical."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
The interplay between her mother and Sanary has that edge returning to Yari. She's a tough woman to impress, and Yari has to remind herself of that. She's spent most of her life working on /that/. There's a reassuring squeeze of tail upon ankle underneath the table.

She'll let Sanary handle this one. The girl has to prove herself to Momgatus!

Yari has her second drink in her tail as she stands, snapping off a textbook salute. Being in the presence of /two/ Legatus is an honor to any Centurion. To actually know the two to a certain degree is dazzling.

"Lord van Baelsar, hail, Sir!"

Eyes close, and there's something mournful in her face.

"...Idiots. Don't they realize that..." Ahem! Best not to comment on politics when she doesn't know the full situation.

"A useless gesture." She finally adds to the whole situation. Indeed, she seems more than a little infuriated by such rebellion.

And then Sanary's teasing her! In front of her mother and legatus. She actively flushes here.

"Th...thank you Sanary." It's /her/ turn to stutter a little. Her weak spot!

Ahem! "...She makes an excellent field medic." Yari adds. Yeah, 'tiny pigfarming village' isn't the biggest pedigree. Then again, she got pulled out from under a pile of corpses as a kid. In some ways, they're both paupers like that.

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
Isaura listens to what Sanary has to say about he village as she takes her drink on both hands. Her foot moves side to side as she listens. Taking in every word from the young woman. She does raise a brow slowly at the 'pig guard' part and then how Sanary is doing things for the Confederacy, along with some company. "You sound to be a busy woman. Medical is not easy after all and even harder when dealing with us trained soldiers."

Gaius for now remains quiet as he too listens and orders himself a drink. Bourbon seems to be his choice. Which only gets him a look from Isaura. He picks up the glass and shrugs his shoulders as if to say 'what?', before taking a sip from it.

Van Vitulus then leans foreward a bit as her leg uncrosses, a smile creeps across her lip as she stares at Sanary. Those eyes looking her dead on. "Do tell me more however about the pig farm and your family of farmers. As who you were is ever important as to who you /will/ become."

Van Baelsar meanwhile, just takes another sip of the glass. It is hard to say /why/ he is here, though he does speak up to maybe reassure Sanary. "Do not be afraid to speak of the humblest of beginnings. Even if it is poor or low. Matters not the place, but the drive within."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
"Heh... It keeps me busy. Lots of injuries to tend to, things to learn. Didn't even know there were two... 'Kidneys' inside people until about three months ago. Didn't stop me from doing a transplant, though." Sanary sounds rather proud of herself at that, smiling slightly at the compliment from Isaura and opportunity to stroke her ego a little.

Taking a sip of her tea, the healer keeps herself from drinking too much at once as she matches Van Vitulus gaze with her own. That uncertainty returns at the notion of talking about the pig farm again, although she does straighten up a bit at the encouragement from both her and Gaius.

"Right... Well, there's not a whole lot to it. My family's been in charge of the pig farm ever since my grandparents. Don't know if their parents ever did it because nobody really kept records or... Uh. Wrote anything back home." She chuckles lightly and takes another sip to steady herself before continuing. "Still, we did good work. Real big pigs, really bad smells, and it kept us going when we weren't getting attacked by bandits and deserters."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari for the most part stays silent, having finally relaxed just a bit in both the presence of her Mother and Sanary. What's keeping her just slightly on edge is her current Legatus oh-so-nearby. She certainly likes the man, but she's not about to drop formalities that her calling requires!

And so, as Sanary spins her story, she offers gentle smiles of encouragement and love. She finally pipes up. 'Pig guard'. That's a new one!

"Why did you decide to take up a blade, Sanary?" She asks suddenly, more for the benefit of the female Legatus than anyone else. May as well encourage the whole story to be brought out!

Otherwise, she's downing drinks like a soldier on her day off. Because she /is/, blast it.

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The male Legatus glances over to Yari who is heavily drinking away and smirks faintly. he does a mild thumb direction at her while glancing over to the female Legatus in that bathing suit of hers, who simply just smiles sweetly. It was like some odd silent conversation! It probably was.

Isaura listens to the story and then glances over to Yari as she pipes up, before looking back to Sanary, "Yes. Do tell me /why/ you picked up the sword, child." She leans back in her chair. The glance held in one hand as her nail on her index finger runs up and down the glass slowly. "After all, I am sure a humble father from a people who do not write, has a very good reason to decide to fight." She then takes a sip of her drink.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary perks up a little bit more when Yari asks her question, taking note of that convenient point to elaborate on her other duties at home prior to leaving. It even gives her a bit more time to think up a better way to answer it when Isaura asks that question herself.

"Oh! It was a... Survival thing. Either we learned how to fight and defend the place ourselves, or let the raiders take whatever and whoever they wanted. Started when I was pretty young, and I turned out to be really good at it. Best one in the village, even."

There's that grin again. She takes care not to mention how little that really compares to the multiverse proper, of course. She's gotta make herself look good in front of Yari's mother, after all! And from the looks of it... Were the two Legatus... es? Were they...? No. They couldn't be.

"My parents didn't really fight much themselves. Good eyes, so they kept watch sometimes, but it was just me and the rest of the other healthier guys fighting. Only thing we could do since the nobles didn't want to get involved with a border town." Her expression sours just a bit at that. "Only times they did come by was to gather tributes. But... Eh, I'm not involved in that any more. I'm here." She glances to Yari, that smile returning after not too long. "And I'm a lot happier because of it."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari, at Gaius' motions, at first seems to act like she hasn't caught it. Instead, that tail of hers tap-taps lightly atop the bartop while one scaley ridge on her face rises in the tiniest of smirks.

Let it never be said that Gaius and Yari haven't learned to work together well.

Then Yari intently looks to her mother and Sanary as she sets the question up, her own legs crossed. Time to see how she fares!

And it seems Yari's satisfied, by how her tail sneaks up and squeezes Sanary's ankle.

"...I really shouldn't complain about circumstances, but leaders who fail to protect their people like that have no right to continue ruling."

And then Yari gets hit right in the heart. Uncharacteristically, there's a tender look on her face, just staring for a moment in Sanary's eye. A little gulp, and she holds back the touched little hiss that those simple words are strangling out of her throat.

She recovers by downing the rest of a fifth of vodka. Tomorrow morning is going to be terrible, but she's getting /through/ this.

Ahem!

"And has been growing much stronger thanks to her experiences with us, and other Confederates." Adds the woman. That's right, grease wheels Yari. Don't flub this up.

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
The female Legatus listens and listens closely. Her eyes narrow slightly almost a lazy, tired look in her eyes, before she leans over and rests an arm on the bar. Her hand smoothly lowers down the glass. This gets Gaius' attention actually who holds the brim of his own glass to his lips.

He knows what is coming. He knows the woman to well-- just as she him. Though when Yari speaks up, Gaius glances over. The tail tap not lost on either of them. "Aye, just as a ruler whom seeks solace of false gods to aid them in rule."

Isaura Van Vitulus then rests her chin in the palm of her hand. "My dear Van Baelsar." A smile was on the edge of her lips. "Why have you not picked up this woman for training and given her a proper education in combat?"

Gaius then rests down the glass. "Because another sought her up before I could see if she was worthy of our Empire's blade. I do not disagree that with the growing relations, we could use blood of the Multiverse among the ranks, but at the time..."

"You were just to slow." She says with a playful 'tsk tsk'.

The Black Wolf lowers his head, his eyes looking over his brow as the knit slightly. "Hardly. Just timing." He then downs back the glass.

"Yes. Always a game of timing with you instead of /snatching/ at the moment." She speaks back with a low tone to her voice, before she pipes back up. "Well, either way. I am glad, Sanary that you are finding yourself in the world. Sadly for us Garleans we are still adjusting to the fact we are /not/ the biggest fish in the seas anymore, but rather just another shark in the ocean with possibly /bigger/ sharks."

Isaura picks up her glass and looks at both Yari and Sanary through its crystal surface. "Mmm... but a shame though--- I think if we could have taken you under our wing, you could have been a fine soldier, much like my dear girl." She then sits up and finishes off her own drink. Her eyes then look over to Gaius, "Whom has taken her under their wing, by chance?"

"A Corporation whom believes in all talk, but little action. The leader or perhaps, second fears to step into the field to display his own works to aid in the resources being grabbed up by the Union and thinks they have the right to speak on equal terms." Gaius remarks with a low rumble.

"Guess we are oddities in this world." She replies back before snapping her fingers at the bartender to get another drink.

"More that the political game is full of fools, idiots, fat bellies, and fatter wallets." The Legatus of the XIV Legion remarks in disgust.

"Don't be so harsh, Van Baelsar. At least not in front of the girl, after all again-- it is your fault."

Gaius just stares at her and grunts in response. "Perhaps, but it is still a game I have no love for, but have had to learn to play in it."

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Sanary straightens up a bit at the ankle squeeze, resisting the urge to look down just to make sure it's Yari's tail doing that. Of course it'd be her tail. Who else could be doing that? She nods in agreement with the Au Ra's comment about such leaders, another laugh escaping her shortly afterwards.

"Ah, it'd be one thing if they actually did any leading. No, they just came by to make sure we weren't ignoring our duties to Grima. 'All hail' and... All that shit."

She sounds just a little bitter at that last bit. Just a little, though, since Yari's reaction does temper it somewhat. The extra compliment doesn't hurt, either. The exchange between Gaius and Isaura does draw a raised eyebrow from the healer, inwardly grinning again at the notion of actually being considered as being worth training.

"Sharks and bigger sharks... Hm. Sounds like me in coming out here, then." She laughs again and pauses, then adds quickly. "Er... The Multiverse, I mean! Not here as in... Sitting here." She casts a quick glance to Yari as the two continue speaking about her employment and politics and... Something or another.

A lot of it is going right over her head. At least it's an opportunity to keep drinking that milk tea! "It's a decent job, at least. Good pay, lots of perks. Lots of medical training to go with the work in the Citadel, although the combat training has... Well. Mostly been with Yari or just throwing myself at dangerous things and seeing what happens."

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari does her best to play a good Centurion here at a conflict between her superiors. She appears to not be listening, even as she's intently listening. Her nose is even up in the air a little as she works on killing her liver even more. Scotch, neat, not some fruity drink like a non-Garlean. Hmph.

Her tail does curl in little circles, the Au Ran equivalent of a teenager rolling her eyes at her parents fighting. It's a pretty apt description right about now.

It's here that she finally speaks up again. "A shame indeed. But, I think that her circumstances have made her who she is. So in that sense, maybe things have turned out for the best." Posits the Centurion vaguely.

"After all, we need new blood."

Then a shrug. She seems to lighten up as Sanary is finally laughing again.

"We only bite weaklings, fools, and those who profit without working with their own two hands! We might be sharks, but we are selective on our prey." It's right then that Yari leans in and gives a many-Au-Ra-toothed grin to Sanary.

Truly, she's relaxed around Sanary. She straightens up.

"It has been, well, fun. Training with you, Sanary. I think we bring out our best in each other, even if it's painful sometimes."

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
Isaura Van Vitulus lazily looks back at Sanary. "I suppose long as you are enjoying yourself, but-- remember there is a difference between games and war." Then a small smile, a very dark smile, plays on her lips. "Though they can sometimes join together in the most entertaining of ways."

"Yari though is a good instructor. She learned not only from the people she disguised herself as, but from me as well." The Legatus smiles softly. "She is skilled, so you are in good hands and if--" Her eyes look over to Gaius. "Lord Van Baelsar will still teach you, even under the wing of another. You will then be guided by a man who is revered and feared by many."

Isaura picks up her new drink and takes a sip, "I also would train you as well, but..." She smirks softly. "I need to continue investigating into a little detail about someone who still escapes my coils. I do not like it when someone plays coy with me, nor do I enjoy having to stalk about in my own backyard when there is a possible fox in the hen house."

Gaius raises a brow gently. "You sure it is one of ours whom employed the assassination attempt?"

"I do not wish it to be, but possible." She says with a gentle shrug. "All indicators are pointing that way and you know as well as I, that is the very likely of cases... unless you changed your mind, Van Baelsar?"

"No, my Lady. I have not. Only hoped your trail would leave you outside the gates, not further within." He frown at this before taking a drink of another glass.

Neither argue on what Yari has to say, neither add to it either. Instead Isaura goes to stand up easily and finishes off her glass. "Well, Sanary. Long as you continue to prove yourself worthy and continue to better yourself for the future. You shalt not have to worry about midnight assassinations from the shadows." She gives the young girl a playful wink before she walks over to Yari. Her finges run along the young Centurion's backside, before she goes place both hands on her shoulders.

Then Isaura leans in to her, speaking softly. "And you, Takane. I desire to spar one last time before I return to Garlemald. I want to see how you have grown since you been out here and I want to see if you are still worthy to one day become a Tribune."

Her eyes then gaze over to Gaius, no words are said to him, and she turns on her heels. "Take care you two." Yep. Completely ignoring Gaius, whom only simple chuckles at the fact with a playful smirk on his face.

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Have things been turning out for the best? Maybe. Sanary's made loads of connections and amassed more power than she ever though possible in less than half a year, and that fact doesn't go ignored by the healer as she grins appreciatively at Yari.

"Good to know I won't get bitten, then. Well, not boy any of you, anyway." She rubs her side absentmindedly at that, another laugh leaving her at that toothy grin. "Especially as long as we keep training like we've been. Ah... I don't think either of us plans to stop any time soon, so you won't have to worry about that, Lady Van Vitulus. And if G-uh. Lord Van Baelsar is willing, too."

She's getting better with formalities, too! Sort of.

Raising her eyebrow at the speak of assassination attempts and potential traitors, Sanary finishes off her milk tea just before she's addressed once more. "I.. Uh. I won't let you down. It was a... Pleasure meeting you, ma'am." She sounds just a touch nervous about that last bit regarding midnight assassinations, and she looks to Yari and Gaius for reassurance.

It's not until Isaura turns to leave that she finally deflates, drooping over the table and not even caring that her head hits it a little too loud. She gives Gaius and Yari a questioning look, however, gesturing at the Legatus and Yari's mother a few times as if that would get her question across.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
Yari can't help it. She's sitting up in pure pride as her mother gives her one of those rare praises that make it all so very worth it. But she doesn't bask in it /too/ much, that would be unsightly for a Centurion. Sanary and Gaius, however, might catch that brief moment of true familial love buried under all the rules and strict discipline of the Empire.

The news doesn't bode well, however. She doesn't speak on it, it's not her place. But Yari eventually rises with her mother. Only when they're close does she shoot a concerned glance to her. There's no words needed. 'Be careful', it screams.

Then there's fingers on her, and she eeps and stands straight with a blush, and then her shoulders are grasped. The Legatus finally wins, as there's a pout befitting a girl her age rather than a Centurion for a brief moment. It turns into a smile.

"I will be honored to fight against you, Lady Legatus." There's a smirk.

"It might just be you who ends up on the ground." A challenge, cutting, and yet playful. Her mother's certainly rubbed off on the girl, competitive, youthful invincibility at the forefront.

And then she's off.

"I will not dissappoint you, or the Emperor!" She calls.

Then Sanary's slumping, after all of that. Instantly, Yari is hugging Sanary to her without the slightest trace of dignity.

"...As you can see, the woman who raised me is a frightening woman. Well done. The fact that you are still alive means you passed, Sanary." Smoooooch!

Then she twitches a bit, and makes a thumb-across-neck about the topic. Oh no. Not going there.

Then, she offers a salute to Gaius.

"I appreciate the support, Lord van Baelsar." It's formal, but there's really appreciation there.

Gaius Van Baelsar (522) has posed:
Yari chooses to not go into the territory regarding Gaius and Isaura. Sanary does hint to it, but the Legatus only knocks back the drink, before flipping the glass and placing it on the bar. He then goes to stand up. "Think of it this way, Sanary. You get to see another sunrise and not have to worry about a knife at particular locations."

He then smirks ever so faintly. "'Tis why she was a bit upset you are not male. She is not called the Green Viper for nothing after all. She is beautiful, charming, but ever as venomous and deadly. If you hurt her Yari Takane-- you can be sure she will be on you before you even know she is there."

"And dead-- before you even realize her blade has gone through you." Gaius adds as he goes to walk away, before turning about to look at the two. "But worry not! I am sure you will do better then the past three or five." There was a playful sound in the serious man's voice.

A tease perhaps to help break the tension now leaving the area. After all, he can tease his Centurion. It was one of the perks of being a Legatus!

Sanary Rondel has posed:
Even Sanary's attempt at dignity is all but gone at this point, replaced by relief and an overwhelming sense of fatigue. "She is... Uh. She was joking about the midnight assassination thing, right?" She chuckles nervously at that and sits up just a bit at the smooching, bracing an arm around Yari to sit back up.

Not that she really needs an answer for that question. Not after what Gaius says. Her face pales slightly as he keeps going, slowly drooping back to rest on the table once again.

"H-hey. I'm not gonna hurt Yari or anything, but... Uh. You're joking, right?" She even chuckles nervously at that, eventually refocusing her gaze on one of the passing waitstaff to wave them over. "Refills. All of them."

She's going to need it after all that.

Yari Takane (691) has posed:
"...Double for me." /Sigh/. The look she gives both Sanary and Gaius may as well be a dead giveaway.

"Heh. You will be fine Sanary. Trust me." Gulp. Gaius gets a brief /look/. You are /not/ helping. And then she's slumping.

AT no point does she contradict her superior, however.

For about five seconds. "...It was only three, and that last one was an assignment." Huff!

Sanary Rondel is in for one heck of a life, with Yari in tow.
