Tinyplot: | WMAT 2015 |
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
The air is chilly in the remote regions of the Mountain arena and only on the highest of the mountain peaks does any trace of snow exist. Evergreen trees canvas the lower halves of the mountain where soil has settled. This particular arena was randomly chosen for the qualifier combatants today.
Allenby Beardsley looks like she enjoys this place. The Gundam Fighter waits patiently, perched atop one of the bald mountain peaks, arms crossed over her chest. Currently, she is on foot, but clothed in a skin-tight red, white, and blue uniform that covers her skin from her neck until her toes. Around her ankles, shoulders, and wrists antenna jut up from the suit about ten cenimeters.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
The pomp and showmanship of the qualifiers is much lower than the tournament proper calls for. There are a couple of vehicles in the air to film, but nothing like the usual swarm, and far fewer observers in the floating audience stands as well. It makes spotting the REVOCS helicopter far easier on approach, the double-rotor cargo chopper coming in low over the treeline. And once it's come up past the treeline and swung around over the peak, rather than her usual, flashy leaping entrance of the previous year, the young woman waiting inside does not step out onto the ramp until the vehicle has touched down, allowing her to simply step off onto the peak.
"Allenby Beardsley," Satsuki greets, her voice calm and even. "That's an interesting choice in battle attire. Your Mobile Trace Suit, I take it?" Someone has done her homework. But with hands on the pommel of her sword, the Honnouji Student Council President tilts her head back slightly, one eyebrow arched. "But now that we're both here, I believe we should don our... proper uniforms."
- Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
Shin's in one of the spectator seats, probably watching the monitors carefully. In one hand, he has a Satsuki Flag while in the other he has a Allenby flag. He waves both of them, despite being forever and a ways away from the action.
- Sagat (95) has posed:
It's not like Sagat is going to have to fight either Allenby or Satsuki in the course of the tournament; however, he is here, watching both of the women prepare to face off.
No pennants or other cheering implements. For that matter, the Muay Thai fighter doesn't even look like he's here to cheer for either of them in the first place ... he's just here to watch what should be a reasonably interesting fight.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Allenby's actually a little surprised to see any kind of coverage for the qualifier fight. It's just a qualifier, right? Even then, she seems pretty comfortable around cameras and spectators.
Those approaching via the air will be able to spy a small camp set up at the edge of the flat surface that comprises most of the arena. Here, the scientists of Neo-Sweden's Gundam Fight team cluster around portable monitors and other equipment they've set up to monitor the fight. They mostly keep to themselves but give dirty looks at anyone who lingers by them for very long.
"Hey Satsuki Kiryuin." Allenby says, pronouncing every syllable of the whole name as destined fighters are supposed to do. "You'd be right. This is the Mobile Trace Suit." She drops her hands to her sides, her cheerful grin widening to a smile. "That's right, we should. So let's get right to it!" Allenby swoops a finger upwards to the sky in a dramatic, practiced motion. "RISE! NOBEL GUNDAM!!"
At her command, the Nobel Gundam appears at the edge of the arena, standing from the crouching position it was using to hide behind a thick grove of evergreens. A hatch opens just below the knot of the metal bow on the Gundam's chest and Allenby leaps backwards once, twice, then a third time at a superhumanly tall distance to land neatly on the small entrance platform the Gundam has provided. The Gundam moves swiftly into the mountain plateau proper shortly afterwards.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
There's a certain degree of flair to Allenby's set-up that Satsuki can appreciate. As such, she remains politely still and waits until Neo Sweden's champion has finished before acting herself, watching with a faint trace of a smile. A strong opponent is a strong opponent, but it's always nice to have one with a sense of showmanship and self-confidence. Only once Nobel Gundam steps onto the plateau does Satsuki turn to set Bakuzan on the ground for just a moment, and then reach with her right hand up to the bangle at her left bicep. Three catches, three fingers, snap-snap-snap...
A bright, twinkling, starry light radiates from Satsuki's left arm.
Crimson radiates outward across every inch of her uniform, until the entire thing is dyed blood-red. There is an instant's pause, and then the fabric explodes outwards, expands. Forms a cage, flows around Satsuki, reshapes and reforms. Surges upward, a beast of fire, swooping down as if to consume her, only to be bound tightly, compressed and shaped, forming a skintight, 'flashy' outfit in white and blue.
It is as if through sheer will alone, Satsuki takes control of this beast in the shape of clothes, the shoulders exploding upward into twin pauldrons through nothing more than her own effort.
"LIFE FIBER OVERRIDE! KAMUI JUNKETSU!"
A simple kick of the toe brings Bakuzan's sheath up into the transformed Satsuki's hand, and a second later the blade is drawn, the sheath tossed aside.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
The Nobel Gundam stops once in the arena, again assuming the pose that Allenby had held moments before she stepped into the Gundam. Aware that Satsuki would be unleashing her hundred-percent-fiber Kamui today, she waits those few moments so she can witness this power activating. There was no fun in attacking an unready opponent, after all.
It isn't only her that watches in rapt fascination but the Neo-Sweden scientists as well, the POV cameras of the Gundam picking up the best view of this. "Whoah." Allenby intones. "So that's why it's called life fibers."
The Nobel Gundam is moving, crossing the distance left between them as the sheath falls to the ground. A drawn blade is apparently sign enough for Allenby that the fight has begun and it's clear already she will not be sparing a second against this opponent. The size difference being what it is, Allenby is forced to go low for her blow, twisting as she plants a hand on the ground and launches the Gundam into a powerslide at Satsuki.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Even for such a light attack, the fact that it comes from a Gundam means that it would be enough to end the fight right then and there for a normal person. The bone-crushing force of a giant robot is more than any ordinary human being would be able to take and still remain conscious, let alone capable of fighting. It is here that Allenby gets the first inkling that Junketsu is as powerful as promised - she can FEEL the impact, feel Satsuki as a much more solid object than she has any right to be. It's like hitting another Gundam, almost.
And Satsuki is hit, make no mistake. She takes the kick before she can muster up a proper defense, arms coming up to block but not quite protecting her in time. The force knocks the Kiryuin heir flying back a good ten or so meters, and there's already soon-to-be-bruising visible on some of her exposed skin. But when she lands, it's on her feet, with Bakuzan in a ready grip. A faint smile tugs at her lips once again, for the single heartbeat that she remains where she lands...
And then she's charging forward at superhuman speeds, launching herself like a rocket past Nobel Gundam before Allenby can stand back up. The slash en passant is quick, a simple businesslike strike meant to land an opening blow on the Nobel's side or arm, but it's impressive enough in and of itself for the fact that Bakuzan is sharp enough to cause damage, and Satsuki has the strength to back it.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Feeling the difference in impact as the Nobel slams up against Satsuki is literal: the Mobile Trace Suit conveys the sensation of colliding with something much more solid than an on-foot human and the impact even leaves a return dent on the Gundam's armor because of the difference in surface area involved. A normal human would have gone flying clear out of the arena but Satsuki does not, even pulling off a graceful, combat-ready landing.
"Hmmmm..!" Allenby hums appraisingly, rolling and using her momentum to push herself up on one knee and one arm. Satsuki charges at her, a blur to all observers. Even Allenby herself has trouble spotting the exact vector of attack-it's instinct that forces her to roll diagonally past Satsuki's run with her own lightning reflexes. Satsuki tears a clean slice through the Nobel's arm but the cut turns out to be far more superficial than her opponent would have hoped, making it about halfway through the armor and not exposing the machinery within.
But despite that, yellow light fizzles on Allenby's arm on the trace suit in the exact spot where Satsuki had struck.
The roll carries the Gundam back onto its feet easily, no doubt a bizzare manuver to see from a giant robot. Quickly, she closes the distance again, going with another low kick, though this one aimed to dig into the ground beneath Satsuki to flick it and her up into the air. It turns out this is a setup for a follow-up flurry of punches.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Surprise. Curiosity. Amusement. All emotions that are anathema in the middle of a fight - at least, if allowed to influence the outcome. Satsuki keeps a tight rein on all of these things, such that seeing the Nobel Gundam come through a very human-seeming roll onto its feet stokes no more than a low-grade interest, and a mental note that she truly can count on her foe to behave as an up-scaled human being in most respects.
Even mastery of her emotions, however, can only take Satsuki so far. She misreads the swinging foot as a direct kick, and hops back just a hair, intending to only barely evade; the upward flick catches her completely off-guard, and leaves her wide open for the flurry of punches. One, two, manage to hit, a third parried, a fourth connecting squarely, each taking its toll and leaving Satsuki without any footing to evade with.
But then the fifth comes, and rather than parry, one white-gloved hand reaches out and /grabs/ one of Nobel's fingers. The impact jars her, the subsequent yank wrenches at her arms, but she uses it to fling herself towards and past Allenby's bicep - and this time, the slash-in-passing comes with far more force behind it. "HAAA!"
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
This time, with more strength behind the slash, Satsuki finds the results are much more damaging. The armor HAS been breached and past that, the wiring and servos responsible for the arm's function. Pink sparks dance dancerously around the resultant gash and Allenby emits a loud grunt in response. The arm sags just a little but does not go inert.
Nowhere in Allenby's training was she encouraged to stop and nurse wounds in the middle of a battle, though. Adaptation was pushed, which becomes apparent in her response as she turns after Satsuki and chases her a few steps before launching forward in a one-handed handspring (with the good arm) that flips the Gundam over into a sprawling leg-drop over the Class President.
- Sagat (95) has posed:
A giant robot (with a distinctly school-uniform design) versus a superpowered school uniform.
It's an interesting fight so far, and Sagat watches intently as Satsuki pits her and Junketsu's power against Allenby's skill and the Nobel Gundam's systems. Just what he thinks of the individual fighters is a mystery, but he can't argue about their skills. If it were just the two of them without armor or giant robots, it would probably still be a fight worth watching - Junketsu may give Satsuki 'power,' but the Kamui doesn't seem to enhance her techniques, per se.
As for the Gundam ... well, it certainly noves in a manner akin to a living fighter, leaving Sagat wondering just how its systems were engineered to mimic a human's techniques while said human is within the cockpit. That 'mobile trace suit' almost certainly has something to do with it.
For now, he sits and watches - still not cheering for either fighter.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Satsuki's landing leaves her with little time to turn and respond. She can only just come around in time to see one giant magical girlbot heal coming straight down towards her, and reflexes heightened to superhuman levels are the only reason she even manages to bring Bakuzan up to-
Stone shatters, a spiderweb of cracks and rubble kicking up outward from the point of impact. Satsuki takes it with her arms, her legs, her entire body, driven halfway into the ground like a nail and eating enough force in the process to guarantee that her body will be aching for days afterward. On top of that, the part that she won't let show, Junketsu's 'price' is starting to take its toll, bit by bit.
But the fact remains that Satsuki has stopped the attack cold, leaving her in a prime position to ignore her body's protests and counterattack. It begins with a demonstration of raw strength, Satsuki bracing herself, tensing her legs and arms, and then outright /shoving/ straight upwards, hard enough to hurl Nobel Gundam's leg upward. The intent is to offbalance it, preventing Allenby from standing up just long enough for the Kamui-user to launch herself upward and unleash another vicious attack with Bakuzan.
And she's fighting smart, for that matter. This time the target is Allenby's calf, and Satsuki means to stab Junketsu inward before wrenching along the leg and out, slicing open a much larger wound than the one she managed to leave on the Gundam's arm.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Allenby feels the point of resistance that Satsuki makes beneath the Gundam's heel. "Wow! This is great, I'm not even holding back and you're stopping me!" She starts to roll her Gundam's leg off of Satsuki when she's clearly caught by surprise as Satsuki hurls her leg upwards, achieving the desired effect and sending the Gundam off balance. Allenby is forced to wast precious seconds floundering on the ground as she works the Gundam's legs back underneath it. This presents the perfect opportunity for Satsuki to take advantage.
Sarsuki jabs the Junketsu into the Gundam's calf, metal squealing against the sharp blade. Unfortunately, before she can execute her plans to draw out the wound, Allenby swings the Gundam's leg outward towards the edge of the arena, dislodging the weapon.
Now the Nobel Gundam stands, the undamaged arm reaching over to grasp a cylinder held at the Nobel Gundam's waist. With a flick of the wrist, a long, pink, beam ribbon flickers into place. Allenby twirls the ribbon, forming a tightly oscillating funnel with the unusual weapon. It looks pretty but as she turns it towards Satsuki, it clearly tears up the ground wherever the beam touches. "NOBEL COIL~!" she shouts enthusiastically.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Even before she sees the Beam Ribbon eat up the stone of the mountaintop, Satsuki can tell it's trouble. But the funnel attack is just wide enough to give her trouble - no option other than pure retreat, right off the edge of the plateau, exists to get her out of this without injury. Inhuman reaction times and preternatural vision allow her to spot a split-second chance, a piece of rubble the only thing between her and a gap in the ribbon, but the path requires her to smash bodily right through a chunk of rubble without even a chance to split it with Bakuzan. And even then, the energy ribbon scorches along both sides of her body on the way out.
But pain has yet to stop the Council President thus far, and she shows no signs of this being any different. Her split-second lunge lands her amidst the rubble of the blocked kick, and without skipping a beat she plants her sword in the ground next to her and hauls up a particularly large piece of stone. "HaaaaaAAA!" The boulder is nearly as big as she is, and she hurls it hard enough to send it flying straight towards Nobel Gundam's face. It moves slowly enough that it would be easy for Allenby to smash out of the way, to catch, to simply avoid, however she might handle it... save that it never gets there.
"/TAAAH!!/"
It seems almost impossible for a simple voice to be so booming. But Allenby can probably tell how it's possible: a kiai. Satsuki produces a kiai, enough spirit and force in her voice, amplified by Junketsu, to shatter the boulder in mid-air, producing a cloud of dust and gravel at just the right height and range to obscure vision. The true attack comes in the form of a leap halfway across the arena at waist height, Satsuki's next slash aimed for Nobel's hip. A blow meant to not just deny her the use of that leg, but ensure that moving her lower body at all is painful.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
'Protect the head' is one of those things of prime importance to a Gundam Fighter due to the rules of the fight. If the head goes, the fighter is disqualified. It's not even a painful thing if it happens, the Mobile Trace Suit not covering the head at all. Still, throw something at a Gundam Fighter's head and their first instinct will be to remove that item. In Allenby's case, she'll even risk her damaged arm to swat the boulder out of the way.
It breaks the rock pretty impressively, dust and gravel flying everywhere, providing Satsuki just the cover she needed. Allenby does not know what happened until she feels the pain burning across her hip, another grunt escaping her as the Gundam starts to tilt from the massive cut in the armor, right down to the frame, that threatens the unit's integrity. It is painful to move, thanks to the feedback from the mobile trace system, but she doesn't let that stop her from completely moving, suggesting that the teenager's had some kind of training in resisting pain. Satsuki is afforded an advantage for now as she doesn't seem to be as mobile at the moment.
Unfortunately, the she can still manipulate the Nobel enough to engage some of the ranged systems. She demonstrates this by moving her hands in a circular shape, forming a pink laser hoop between them. Yes, more gymastics floor routine tools. She twirls this on a finger and then flings it horizontally at Satsuki. "NOBEL HOOP!"
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Coming down on the other side of the Nobel Gundam, Satsuki turns and adopts a defensive stance. It's impressive that Allenby can still move as well as she can, the Kamui-user muses. A wound like that would hobble most people, and yet Neo Sweden's own Gundam Fighter is able to not just move, but turn and unleash an attack with deadly accuracy. And Satsuki's own injuries are starting to tell; she turns one leg to leap aside, but realizes too late the ground under her foot is loose, and the result is that she takes the Nobel Hoop straight on, protecting her chest and face with her arms but otherwise eating it completely. The hit knocks her back skidding across the ground, and when she comes back to her feet again, her left arm is visibly injured, bleeding and scorched.
But despite her injuries, Satsuki Kiryuin forces herself to her feet... or, perhaps it's more accurate to say that no amount of injury can prevent Honnouji's Queen from standing tall and proud. None of her pain shows in her face, her features stern and focused. "You have impressive willpower and toughness, Allenby Beardsley. I have never faced a mecha in battle before, but I can say that I was fortunate to have so capable an opponent for my first. However, I think it's high time we took this towards its conclusion."
And then she's off like a shot. Darting across the rubble-strewn mountaintop, suddenly lunging to the left, shooting forward and then shifting to the right. With her size and speed, it makes her tough even for the Gundam's HUD to keep up with, a fact she exploits to make her way in close enough to suddenly leap up in the air.
Bakuzan flicks and slashes before she even reaches the Nobel Gundam, a series of mid-air slashes that somehow manage to produce broad, flat pressure waves - arcs of nothing but air, like a weaponized kiai, each capable of cutting just as keenly as Bakuzan itself, and all of them aimed in such a spread as to make them difficult to evade entirely. But it finishes with Satsuki herself, turning around and aiming a boot straight for the center of mass, the middle of Nobel Gundam's ribbon. And the impact is just as hard as any blow from a full-sized Gundam.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
While the feedback provided by the Mobile Trace System was largely accurate, there was at least an installed failsafe in it preventing death. Part of Allenby actually feels a little bad that she isn't actually bleeding like her opponent now is. "I haven't encountered many people eager to fight a mecha on foot either. I'm glad that you did. You're obviously someone who can take one." she sounds a little strained, the injuries to the Gundam remaining permanent fixtures on the Mobile Trace Suit. "Alright then." Allenby tosses aside the beam ribbon and resumes a low stance, carefully manuvered to shift the weight to her good leg. Both of the Gundam's hands curl into fists.
Allenby runs at Satsuki even if she cannot track the School President accurately through the Gundam's sensors. Her own agility enables her to dodge the air-slashes as they come at her, twisting the wounded, hobbled body of the Nobel just barely out of each, being grazed by others, and struck outright by a few. The final boot to the center of the ribbon, however, strikes true and the metal caves inward. In the cockpit, Allenby sees a bulge appear in the full-view camera screen directly in front of her and the Gundam buckles backwards, sliding against the ground from the force of blow.
The hand on the good arm reaches over and attempts to grasp Satsuki. The other hand lashes out with a palm strike at her, though it is not nearly as strong as it should be thanks to the wound inflicted on it earlier. It's more to knock her into the air, a move which is followed by a burst of Vulcan gun fire from the Nobel's head. This too is more of an attempt to air juggle Satsuki or at least force her to do some kind of fancy bullet parrying-because Allenby's pretty sure Satsuki can do some kind of fancy bullet parrying with her sword. She seems like the type that would be capable.
It's meant to buy time, keep Satsuki airborne so Allenby can get the Gundam back onto its feet and launch a round kick at her, kicking with the damaged side since the other leg will not give out underneath her.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Still in the air, Satsuki seems to have predicted a grab or a strike attack in response. When Allenby's hand comes in after her, she's in prime position to twist herself in the air and come down in such a way that she lands /atop/ Nobel Gundam's fingers, rather than in their grasp, and from there she jumps straight at the palm strike feet-first. The impact does her body no favors as injured as she is, but that jarring pain and exacerbation of her existing injuries is worth it to be able to vault into the air on her /own/ terms.
Bakuzan whips back and forth in a rapid-fire series of slashes and parries, the ringing sound of high-caliber rounds being deflected or cleaved in half filling the air. She can indeed accomplish fancy bullet parrying, particularly with Junketsu's power flooding her, but parrying a kick of that size is another story entirely. Instead, she turns herself in the air again, coming down just over the foot and landing right on Nobel's instep, and from there she runs straight down the extended leg, slashing downward with Junketsu every time she takes a step.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Laughter comes from the Nobel Gundam, slightly tinny as it has to be piped through the speakers: "I had a feeling that might happen!" She calls out at the bullet parry, still sweeping in for that kick-well, except that doesn't work out entirely well either as Satsuki merely goes over it and lands, damaging the leg as the Nobel Gundam rotates. Allenby feels each slash and pulls the leg down to deny Satsuki a flat surface to run against, immediately putting some small distance between her and her opponent.
It doesn't last long. It might be a surprise to see Allenby change up styles entirely mid-fight but she does it with ease. Twisting, she folds the injured arm on itself and lets herself just fall downward onto Satsuki, elbow-first.
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Being deprived of a place to stand leaves Satsuki no choice but to prepare herself for an early landing, and doing so takes long enough that she is completely unprepared for the incoming elbow. Completely open. She looks up just in time to see it plummeting down from above, but even 'bringing up her arms to shield her face' takes more time than she has. She's driven straight into the ground, stone shattering underneath her for the second time. And this time, there is silence. For several seconds, it seems as if Satsuki may have been beaten. No counterattack, no slow push out from under Nobel, no-
"HAAAA!"
A rapid-fire series of slashes from beneath Nobel's elbow shear away a broad, cone-shaped chunk of the mountaintop, cutting it away to slide down the side of the mountain. Satsuki stands, bleeding and battered, one eye swollen shut, her whole body scorched, right at the apex of that cone, Bakuzan in her grasp... until she shoves it into the stone in order to free both of her hands, and reaches up above herself to grab Nobel Gundam by the elbow.
And heave. And pull. And put all her weight into it. Strain every muscle and bone in her body, push Junketsu's strength to its absolute limit.
To drag Allenby over the edge and onto the slope.
But simply sliding down a mountainside isn't going to be enough to hurt a Gundam. Especially not piloted by as tough a fighter as Allenby. Which is why Bakuzan comes back out, the blade in her right hand the sheath in her left. The Kiryuin heiress returns her weapon to its sheath and then begins running down the mountain right after Allenby, stray chunks of stone still breaking off and tumbling down around her in the aftermath of the artificial landslide.
Her course does not waver. Her steps do not falter. She runs straight down the mountain - straight PAST Nobel Gundam - a white lightning bolt with speed far beyond an ordinary human, that stops only when she has enough room. It doesn't take much. Just enough time for Satsuki to turn around. Just enough time for her right hand to take hold of Bakuzan's grip again. Just enough time to set herself, to adopt a ready posture, to prepare herself for a blindingly fast and accurate attack.
"Gundam Fight International Regulations, Article One! A unit whose head section has been destroyed..."
She's standing in just the right spot to aim her attack for Nobel's face.
"...IS DISQUALIFIED!!"
Satsuki draws her blade.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
There is a moment in which Allenby is simply struck in disbelief. Though she's seen Satsuki parry her blows or stop them, never had she imagined that she could be able to haul the Gundam and shove it down the mountain slope. After the fight she'd reflect on this moment, further enlightened by the power of the Multiverse's Elites. After a hundred feet of sliding, Allenby tries to regain her footing, digging in to stop her momentum, clawing at the rocks that crumble around her and generally making the landslide even bigger.
Allenby lets out a surprised 'hmm!' as Satsuki starts to recite the very familiar Gundam Fight rules. Satsuki's attack cleaves into the Nobel's head, slicing into it, almost taking it clean off with the mighty blow-almost. Satsuki will find her blade now embedded in the Gundam's head quite firmly. "You're right." Allenby's voice crackles dimly over the speakers. "You've definitely done your research on the Gundam Fight. However..."
The remaining good arm reaches up, palm placed against the back of the Nobel Gundam's head, on top of the hair/heat fins. Abruptly, she pushes the Nobel's head downwards to push it against the mountain, hoping to catch Satsuki in it, even at the cost of damaging the Nobel further.
"This is WMAT!!!"
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Her iaijutsu strike doesn't quite manage to get all the way through. The screaming of her muscles tells Satsuki exactly why; she's spent. All her strength went into that last effort, and her battered, overexerted body is on the verge of giving out, thanks in no small part to Junketsu's drain. But until one of them gives in or collapses, this fight isn't over - and Allenby knows that just as well as Satsuki does. So Satsuki prepares herself for the worst, getting ready to draw Bakuzan back out... but she has no time. Her back is being rapidly pushed down towards the ground, and the only way of getting out of this will be to leave Bakuzan behind.
And so she does.
The impact does little more than lodge her sword more firmly in Nobel's head. Satsuki has already hopped to one side, and then up in the air. The last of her strength, the last of the power Junketsu can give her without ending this entirely, goes into one final attack.
"You're right! This is the World Martial Arts Tournament... and kenjutsu is just /one/ martial art!"
Down comes Satsuki, with nothing more than a punch to the back of Nobel's head.
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Allenby manages to accomplish damaging her own Gundam a little bit more and her opponent not at all. Her own reaction time must be slowing, she realizes, and only now does it hit her that she's really edging towards being tired. So far, the excitement of facing a strong opponent had carried her. Allenby removes the hand from the back of the Nobel's head and lifts it but unfortunately, between the strike of Bakuzan and her own self-inflicted damage, the outside feeds are pretty mangled straight ahead of her. She can barely tell what she's looking at and doesn't realize Satsuki's location until she strikes. The punch knocks the Gundam's head against the side of the mountain again and the whole unit starts to spark.
Knowing that the Gundam wasn't going to continue functioning for much longer (let alone Allenby herself), she tries to manuver herself into a better position by flipping herself over.
If Satsuki happens to get caught in that violent movement, which breaks the damaged arm in the process, well, all the better, right?
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
That one last hit took everything Satsuki had left.
She's already on one knee when Nobel's disabled arm comes around. There's nothing she can do. She's not getting out of the way.
SLAM.
It takes several seconds before the Student Council President of Honnouji Academy can lift herself away from the mountainside at all, and she only does so enough to draw in a breath - one that sends a ripple of pain through her, probably due to cracked ribs - and speak a single, loud, "I yield. I am no longer capable of fighting."
Herss the REVOCS chopper swings back down, moving with some urgency, she lets herself flop back against the mountain again and adds in a quieter voice, "Well-fought, Allenby Beardsley. I hope that I was a worthwhile challenge."
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Allenby continues squinting now, trying to pick out the form of Satsuki on her HUD. It's only when she speaks does she realize what just happened in the last exchange. The Gundam promptly stops moving, powering down immediately, the dangerous sparking and cracking where Satsuki had cut blows into the mecha ceasing.
The cockpit slides open again and Allenby staggers out, covered in sweat, holding her hip where the earlier titanic blow came in. Though the trace suit was no longer invoking its haptic feedback, the phantom pain was still there. Allenby seaks out to where Satsuki is slumped and offers her hand up to the Class President.
"It was everything and more, Satsuki Kiryuin. I'd like to do it again sometime."
- Satsuki Kiryuin (430) has posed:
Satsuki is hauled up onto her feet just about the time the helicopter gets there. She stumbles a little, but manages to stand straight, giving Allenby a simple nod. Her sword is returned to its sheath as she turns to go, an elderly butler rushing down the helicopter ramp to her side, staying by her as if he expects her to stumble or fall at any moment.
It's only as the helicopter pulls away and the ramp closes that Allenby gets a glimpse of exactly that, and perhaps even hears the urgent voice of a med-tech ordering others to "get it off her-"
It's almost certainly a familiar cadence for Allenby, in some ways.
- Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
Shin is, meanwhile, still in the safe observation area of the arena to watch the fight. He's waving both his flags, cheering for the fact Allenby won as well as for Satsuki's awesome fighting, "Wooow, I wonder if her school offers correspondance courses."
- Allenby Beardsley (760) has posed:
Allenby remains still and ready until Satsuki gets on the helicopter, positioned to move and catch Satsuki if she did happen to collapse back to the ground. She catches small snatches of that conversation just barely before the helicopter overrides all other noise.
The Neo-Sweden team moves now, going for the Gundam and not Allenby herself since the former looks like it was totaled. If this had been a Gundam Fight, she probably would have lost due to Article One.
