- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
The WMAT AQ2 Qualifier is already set up - Anti-Gravity platforms floating above chunks of rock and stone that angle this way and that, climing upwards, having been formed so many years ago. Be it from a battle between two beings or between nature and Earth itself, it does not matter - mainly due to the fact that they might be knocked down with little fanfare!
YET TODAY IS NOT THAT DAY.
If they are to be knocked down, it will /definitely/ be due to fanfare. One of the platforms that floats contains /only/ a band, all clad in the same uniform ( and surprisingly all alike in looks ) as they play for the crowd. There are a multitude of students from Honnouji that have packed some of the floating stands. Others float nearby with a more normal mix of viewers that dare to enter the rocky dry and dusty canyon.
Standing on one of the pinnacles of rock is a very obvious figure, standing at 4 foot nothing, or less, wearing a pink hat that makes up for a foot, with a skull on it. Nonon Jakuzure waits as she fans herself from the heat. After all, the uniform she wears doesn't quite look the comfiest for the desert. It seems to be a band uniform - not even a conductor!
"Well, it's not too bad out here - but you all better not stop playing yet~." She notes to the band holding the heavy instruments on the platform.
They get no respite.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
As the qualifiers have continued, the interest in the success of a particular guildmaster has become more and more important. If the stundents of Honnouji Academy have packed a section of the rafters of their own, they would clearly be able to see another section of the stands packed with all manner of Izzet League members, clad in red and blues, and being as rowdy as the rowdiest Cleveland Dogpound one could ever find. Goblins are raving and blasting off fireworks, humans are cheering and clamoring about their leader, and the other members do whatever it is they feel like! It's very possible some devoted magewright is even conducting an experiment -right now-.
The appearence of Rhapsody within the canyon sets the Izzet fans roaring. The Izzet Guildmaster gives a happy wave to her loyal league members, then to the crowd's all around, and even the cameras. Even the students would get a wave, despite any kind of reaction that they may send her way. With that done, Rhapsody would look toward the band, ponder a moment, and then would call up, "Nonon!" knowing her name as, you know, it IS her opponent, "Come down! Give them a well deserved rest while we handle our business!"
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
Compared to the unwashed mashes of the Izzet League members, the Honnouji Academy members all look like they are walls of cardboard, standing at attention. One could hardly be surprised to hazzard a guess they do not actually exist there - they would, of course, be wrong. Boy and girl standing side by side in a never ending wall of black and white. Saluting Nonon as she raises her baton upwards - to halt the band as Rhapsody speaks up.
"Eh?"
She heard her name, after all. Blinking twice, Rhapsody sends her own fans roaring - while the Academy simply holds the salute at the pause button. In fact, it's worse for the band. They freeze as if she hit a pause button - some holding their breath. "Are you telling me how to CONDUCT my students?!" She asks, a bit angry already! The nerve of that dragon! The very nerve! Yet Rhapsody would not be the only 'scaled' one present, after all, Nonon is quite the snake. Grinning as she bends the conductors baton a bit, eyes to the side, "Well... I guess I could~."
She takes a step forwards. "Onwards! MARCH!" Off she steps, a shimmering glow beginning as she clearly falls down into the canyon to impact the ground below. That would be if the musical instruments didn't follow her off, that is. Falling through three black stars as the material of her clothing unwravels and reforms, the pink and white become black, pink and white, an outfit more suited to a skeleton than Nonon - and something clamps down about her, and behind, as the massive form of the Regalia forms.
Shooting straight upwards, the Symphony Regalia Grave - Presto! Rises above the canyon to face down towards Rhapsody, "I'll give them at least ONE rest, but /two/ is cutting it. That's because this won't take long~." She chides, "SYMPHONY REGALIA GRAVE! PRESTO!" Red letters slam down into the canyon, crumbling into the ground. Nonon plays a bit of fanfare - and the Regalia responds - a shuddering wave of force emitting a shockwave of sound which would already attempt to damage Rhapsody - or at least her hearing!
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
And the battle begins! Nonon's transformation actually causes Rhapsody to backpedal for a moment, wincing at the size of the Regalia. "Well, that... is a problem," she stammers. It's the roaring of the Izzet League high above, calling for her to reply, that snaps her out of her stuppor. This was going to be a difficult fight, but it was not going to be a fight Rhapsody would back away from, not now, not ever!
As the transformation finishes and the cacaphonic (IS THAT EVEN A WORD?!) attack surges downward, Rhapsody, being a dragon, surges upward! While she did not think she would need them a moment ago, the Regalia has shown that Rhapsody will need her wings tonight. The feathered limbs unfurl from her back in a glow of blue mana before beating downward, sending her upward, and away enough to make sure the grand NOISE doesn't harm her, or her ears!
"Such a noise! Surely you can do better, Nonon! Lets give these people a show they won't soon forget!" With the fervor of the League infecting her, the Guildmaster draws both of her spellblades and goes whirling in toward toward her opponent, slicing here and there, testing for weaknesses in the great 3-Starred uniform of Honnouji!
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
"Are you seriously talking to me about shows!?"
Nonon is more worried about that than anything else, it seems, in shooting her mouth off than shooting back at Rhapsody. The spell blades are drawn, Nonon unaware of it up until the blades tear across the Regalia, cleaving into some of the outfit and sheering parts of the uniform, leaving a heavy mark on the side. Nonon huffs with as much expectation that she would have! "I know WAY more than you probably do!" Also, she totally got dispersed by some kind of barrier. A little bit of annoyance creeps up against her face.
Even as the Regalia shoots forwards to try to avoid any more cleaving blades tearing across the 3-Starred uniform, Nonon's twisting around mid-air, the blimp like machine quick, but not exactly evasive.
"You can fly too? ... LIKE HELL YOU CAN! I'll clip those stupid wings of yours!"
Quick to run her mouth as well, it seems. Though she doesn't seem to bother with running anything else, strapped to the front of the Regalia. "Anyways, I probably can make it memorable - but they'll /really/ remember your voice. It's like nails across a chalkboard."
As the Regalia floats in the sky before Rhapsody, an eruption of sound - but that's not how it is. "ALRIGHT! 1812 Overature~!" The music blares. Along with it, notes follow, streaming across the sky like a thousand tiny shuriken without any /direct/ aim. She's just swinging for the fences.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
"Why can't I talk about shows! Do you even know what the Izzet League is?!" She pauses a moment, "Don't answer that! But we do make shows! WITH SCIENCE!!!" she lets her know. After all, in the Izzet League, SCIENCE(!!!) is everything.
After her initial attack the dragon begins to bank around from her initial attack on the Regalia. "And of course I can fly! I'm a dragon! Draaa-goooon!" There is no tounge flick. What do you think she is? An asian dragon??? "The only thing that's gonna get grounded around here is y- 1812 wha-?!" And then NOTES. MUSIC. THE FIRST DROP EVER. And it was a CANNON drop, not a bass drop. Still. The POUNDING of the notes along with the explosive emphasis of the cannon from the overture sends Rhapsody spinning through the air, totally unexpecting the sheer volume that the Regalia puts out! The comment on her voice goes unanswered cause, well, MUSIC!!!
Even with the such a powerful song being played for all to hear, canyon and beyond, Rhapsody will not fall! Just one song? "You'll have to go -harder- than that!" she calls as she regains her balance in the air. If Nonon wanted to play rough, then she'd reply in kind! Rather than swooping in to slash at the Regalia again, the dragon wings up and away. As she goes, she spins about, inhaling sharply, before spitting a number of small energy blasts straight out of her muzzle!
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
"Of COURSE not!"
She answers it because /she doesn't follow your rules/. Yet Nonon does follow one thing. "Science is /for nerds/, so you've got to be the weakest dragon!" Her logic is clear and concise, because smarts are not her skillset. Being loud, in all ways, is. With Rhapsody /sassing/ her, it's no surprise that Nonon intends to ramp it up. Especially as Rhapsody is sent spinning through the air - and Nonon is left laughing, pointing as she leans forwards. Oh, look at just how /stupid/ she looks!
Of course, Rhapsody makes a request. More on that later, as she responds with the eruption of small energy blasts that burn through the air - slamming into the sizable form of the Regalia and burning parts of 'metal', damaging one of the speakers in the mean-time as it sizzles and burns. "HEY! Watch IT!"
"I USUAULLY don't do requests, but since this is being aired, I'll make an exception~!"
"Next up! Ride of the Valkyries~!" With a wave of her baton, she is /off/, the massive Regalia chasing after the smaller dragon, small notes peppering through the sky as if machine-gun fire, trying to take out the enemy ace! The music of course makes it that much more trouble-some!
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
"NERDS?!" Oh that set her off. That even set off the Izzet Section above! The sheer rowdiness in that section is reaching critical mass! They'd throw things at Nonon and the Regalia if they were allowed! Still, all manner of roaring and insults are being thrown, but so loud and so mixed together it all just comes out in a roar of anger that simply mixes with the rest of the crowd noise!
And then the crowd noise is completely drowned out by the theme of Dan-er, by Flight of the Valkyries! Loud? YES. Notes? Everywhere! Struck? Oh my yes. Again, Rhapsody is sent rolling through the air, often struck, trying to dodge what she can, but not having a lot of success with it! And again, the sheer volume makes it hard to really focus! "What?!" Seriously, what? She can't hear you right now! "WHAAAAT?!" wait, maybe she's trying something. A bait? If Nonon stops to talk she may find that the dragon is aiming to send a bolt of electricity right for the front of the Regalia, and Nonon specifically! The bolt lances off of the dragon's red spellblade straight for it's target! And honestly, if Nonon doesn't talk, well, the bolt will get sent anyway! ... Seriously though, is there a chance she won't talk? Lets find out!
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
"I call them as I see them, and I KNOW doggy! Who CARES about all that science-crap!"
Oh that's not good! Even as the roaring and insults begin, Nonon isn't even bothered by that. Infact, if you look closely, she is /grinning wildly/ because of it. Someone might say that Nonon is specifically interested in such a thing. They would be... RIGHT. The snake loves the thrashing, but it's better when its teeth are embedded into something.
Rolling through the air once more, Rhapsody may hear her laughter - or not, as Rhapsody can't hear her. Especially. Does she talk? OH MY YES. "What? OH. Well, if you want to forfeit, and if Satsuki is the best ever, SAY WHAT." She roars back - before there's a sudden spike of electricity. The bolt shudders through the air, Nonon's eyes lighting up as her mouth widens, her very hair standing on end before she raises up the conducting rod - which the bolt strikes, passing through to the machine and ... somehow managing to be grounded, even if she for a moment is lit up, slightly smouldering!
Likely the life-fibers, or perhaps it is ... the drums.
The drums, of course, which are now riding below the Regalia as it accelerates, shockwvaes of music causing the electrical current to suffer a bit, as well. "Huh? ... HAH! See! Science doesn't help you with anything!" The Regalia seems to be catching up to Rhapsody though - is it going to overtake her?
Unlikely, actually, as it seems to try to /barrel into her/.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
Well. At least Rhapsody didn't say WHAT again. The bolt strikes home and .. doesn't really do much? Oh dear. Clearly she's going to have to either rely on her own natural attacks or the dragon needs to go in with the blades. One or the other! ... Maybe she could use the two swords like a pair of s... nah. That wouldn't work, right?
Still, the Regalia is quickly gaining ground! Juuuust as Nonon catches up, the dragon dives. It still manages to clip one of her wings, sending her spinning for a moment, but Rhapsody manages to pull out of the spin fairly quickly. "The tell me how your Uniform was made!" she counters, wondering if Nonon can explain it! Quickly after the suggestion, the dragon surges along the underside of her opponent, trying to carve up the uniform with both swords again, but this time along the underside!
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
As the Reglaia makes a sudden intervention into Rhapsody's personal space, it is not a LASTING one. Especially noted that Rhapsody dives at the last moment, spiralling but allowing Rhapsody to surging under her. "Where did she go? Hah! Bet she gave up!" Nonon declares to no one in particularly, even if Rhapsody did talk - because she can't see her. Of course, she did not go. Especially not as the uniform suddenly is carved once. Twice. Three times from the underside.
"WHAT!?"
Nonon flails as best she can, "Get AWAY from there! I SAID GET AWAY!" Nonon declares, before thinking for a second. "Well, fine, I'll tell you! We have a sewing club~... AND THEY MADE IT USING NEEDLES AND THREAD! What the hell do you think!?"
As nice as always, that Nonon Jakuzure, and so very eloquent~! "Actually, stay right there and hold on tight!" Hold on tight? Why would she say that when there's nothing there!? "Tocatta! Symophony 5 - Widor~." At which point the music, loud as always, plays. None seem to bother Rhapsody until the bottom open up AND A MISSILE IS LAUNCHED POINT BLANK, intent on whistling all the way into a wall. With Rhapsody on it.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
Sewing club? Oh. Well. That would certainly explain it. Except for the fact that the uniforms had these amazing powers! Enough of that, however. Why? After all the slicing and dicing along the bottom of the Regalia, to see a -missile- right there, point blank? It causes Rhapsody to look a lot like a deer in headlights. "...eep," is all she can squeak out before the missile crashes into her with a thunderous explosion.
Dooooooooown she goes, actually crashing into the canyon floor with a crash, crater, and cloud of dust. The Izzet Sector goes quiet as a result. Was the Guildmaster down? Out for the count? Defeated?!
...
No!
The dust settles, Rhapsody is visible, on one knee, her coat tossed aside, but on her feet! The coat was in shambles, there was no point in keeping it on. With her arms far more visible, anyone with a good eye would notice that the only scales on this dragon are along her head and tail. No where else! As she rises, the roar of her magewrights explode. As they do, a single beat of her wings sends the dragon soaring into the air again. The time for talk, it would seem, is over. Instead of saying anything, the dragon takes a -deep breath- and expells a blast of raw energy upward, hoping to catch the thing from below, and maybe through the opening the missile came from!
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
"Hah~! That's EXACTLY what you get! I'm not a pushover, you know~. You can't take one of the Elite Four of Honnouji that -"
"WHAT!?"
Rhapsody, on one knee, manages still to stand tall! Well, she will be, THERE SHE IS. On her feet! Arms more visible - and with her own guns out of storage, Rhapsody charges upwards and SKYWARDS! As Rhapsody closes the gap, Nonon assumes - correctly in this single case - she'd try something UNDER-REGALIA'd again. She is correct, as the underpanel of the Regalia, as it closes, is targeted with a roaring beam of energy from her mouth. FROM. HER. MOUTH.
"WHAT!?" Nonon freaks out, once more. The Regalia twists around, rising quickly and flipping forwards as Nonon flails in a way to say that it is /simply not supposed to go this way/. The fact is though, it does. It is. There isn't a way to change it.
As such, Nonon makes the best of it, flipping upside down and twisting more to aim directly at Rhapsody as she cues the music. "Now! Let's finish this piece~! FORTE~!" The music is turned on louder, countless other speakers erupting from the various parts of the Regalia as the shockwaves roar, shuddering the canyons - and threatening to have the pillars of stone collapse onto Rhapsody, after she launches her down there!
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
LOUD!!! That's the word for it. Rhapsody actually tries to push through it but fails. Hands to her head, a wince, a roar of pain, the damage is being -done- through the music! It's just hard to tell from the outside. That much vibration? It's not good. Not one bit. Eventually the dragon is forced down onto one of the teetering spires, cringing, trying to focus for just a moment, trying to figure out what to do.
Lightbulb
She knows she'd regret it later, but well, this was the WMAT. She had allies that could help her afterward with... whatever Nonon would throw before the fight was over. The dragon grits her jaw, lowers a little, then lunges back into the air, simply -roaring- out loud to try and drown on the Regalia. Her intent? Reach the front, find Nonon, and introduce her to both of the Guildmaster's Spellblades. Over and over again until the noise stopped! "STOP! STOP STOOOOOOOOOOOP!"
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
With a laugh of clear superiority, there's not much time for her to care about little things like being a giant floating target in the middle of the air. Still, there is a bit of thougt put into it. Rhapsody may be strong and fast, skilled and cunning, but Nonon Jakuzure was, in the best of days, still one who would give everything. One who hates losing. A bit too fanatical.
Her eyes never really leave the prize, even if she can't always see Rhpasody. Hanging from the front of the Regalia, Nonon gives a wide grin down towards, Rhapsody. "So, do you need a rest or two? Was that one too many fortes?" She asks, a bit in mockery, even if kindness just oozes out - it's all in the anti-spirit of the games, aiming to add insult to injury.
She is a jerk, after all.
Except there comes the dragon's roar, spell-blades raised as Nonon meets Rhapsody face to face. "... uh... hi?"
Blades swing, over and over again as Nonon stops the music, forced to 'dodge' as best as she can, ducking under one and being cut, the other missing anything vital but striking hard - the next clipping her leg and the final one diggin into her small body. The small girl hangs there for a moment, arms tethered to the Regalia.
She basically growls, "You bitch." She begins, "IF THAT'S HOW YOU WANT TO PLAY!"
The entire canyon shudders, the sound echoing off the pillars, almost like tuning forks, as the speakers behind Nonon erupt into a cacophany. Waves of sound hammer Rhapsody to push her away, notes, bladed and sharp, are fired en masse. Cymbals, two, sharp as they can be - are sent directly towards her body! Finally two drums erupt, fired like grenades - aiming to impact and detonate right on top of her.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
Slice! SLICE! SLIIIIIIIIIIICE! It would seem Rhapsody is in a frenzy and there's not a lot of her that is going to pay attention to the music. The vibrations are still crashing into her, but she's blocking it all out! As the next attack comes, the dragon beats her wings down, ascends, and pulls the trigger on her blue spell blade. For a moment, her whole form is coated in a silvery coloring, the attack seems to echo off for the most part, and then she returns to normal. "LOUDER!" she -demands- before resuming her slicing and dicing. "You think that's all music!? SAY MY NAME!" she roars. Is she actually slashing to a -beat- right now? Well, on the fourth 'beat' she unleashes another blast of energy at Nonon! Nice and point blank.
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
OH SAY CAN YOU SEE - BY THE BATTLEFIELD MID FIGHT - SO GALLENTLY FLAILING - GET IT OFF GET IT OFF.
Rhapsody, in her frenzy, continues to assault Nonon in close, unabiding her the time or demands to get Nonon to /really/ give her something to think about. Yet it's as Rhapsody glows bright silver that Nonon has to come face to face with the points of energy. This time, it's far more effective. "You won't MAKE ME SAY THAT NAME EVER YOU STUPID, STUPID, STUPID BITCH!"
There's not enough words for what she wants to say - even as the energy causes parts of the Regalia to shatter apart. Even as her uniform, a mock of a skeleton, gets real live blood stains from the assault. If there was a choice between honor or death, unless Satsuki said to stop, she simply would not.
The WMAT doesn't even matter, not to her.
"But you're right, it's missing something... YOUR SCREAMS!"
The volume amps up entirely, "I'm sure you might remember this, if you aren't some kind of ageless /freak/. Powerhouse!"
The music has a turumpet, but the shockwaves blare out one by one after each other, almost like a musical beatdown - with soothing jazz in the meantime.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
And the dragon simply will Not Stop. When Nonon calls for the dragon's screams, the one thing Rhapsody decides, right there, is to not give her the satisfaction. The Jazz comes through, smooth and awesome, yet so loud that it still counts as an attack! Rhapsody can't help but to be blasted away for a moment as a result, spiraling through the air again. When she does manage to catch herself in the air, she's struggling to do so. Her wingbeats aren't syncronized, it's clear it won't take a lot more, but, well? She'd rather be knocked out then surrender to Nonon! Not today! Not EVER!
Screams will not be served to Nonon this night. The only sound she'll get now is the roaring thunder caused by the electricity arcing off Rhapsody's spellblade as it tries to cleave into Nonon again and again and again, the dragon using the last five charges in the weapon for each of her next set of slashes!
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
In a battle of heard-heads, it comes to who has the hardest. So far, it's Nonon's - but it's Rhapsody that gets the jump on the woman, Nonon going to launch a final assault - but the Regalia /falling apart/. The blades cleave into the Regalia Grave, armoring and metal beginning to give way. "No NO! You are NOT WINNING!" Nonon declares, a hand held outwards, pointing towards Rhapsody. "I'LL MAKE Y-eh!?"
Nonon leans forwards, toppling afterwards as the Regalia and a veritable band of instruments tumble after her onto one of the pillars of rock that stand tall in the Canyon. The music stops, everything clatteric about as the battle is seemingly ... over. The Symphony Regalia Grave bested.
For the first time, however, the crowd of the Honnouji Academy speaks. It is in unison. A very /practiced/ unison. "Encore. Encore! Encore!! Encore!!! ENCORE! ENCORE!! ENCORE!!!"
"ENCORE!"
The final cry brings a sudden eruption from the pillar of stone below Rhapsody, Nonon battered, bruised and bleeding - but in a wonderful new outfit and a hat to make up for the loss of the loud speakers. "Sorry Rhapsody - guess I did say you name after all - but I can't just leave my adoring audiance without at least /one/ final song.~"
"It'll be your last one, too." Venom lacing every word.
"Let's see you struggle though~. And I present, Sabre Dance!!"
The music pours out from the top of her hat as she extends her baton from the top of the 'stage', a thick stream of music pouring out, upwards, into the sky to catch Rhapsody within it and follow her - a sound so loud that she would be lucky to even think inside of the a fast and hard hitting flood of music all at once. The canyons below shudder, streams of wind blowing the unloosened ground from the sheer force - and it's being focused, mainly, on Rhapsody. Even Nonon's clothing billows in the 'wind'.
- Rhapsody (325) has posed:
Too Loud.
That's the only thought that manages to get through Rhapsody's mind. She thought, for a moment, that she had managed to surpass her record from last year's WMAT, but to no avail. The encore is granted, and the attack that traps and overwhelm's her senses is just to much. When it's all said and done, the Izzet Section goes quiet upon seeing Rhapsody on the ground.
Time to call the medics.
- Nonon Jakuzure (805) has posed:
The form of Rhapsody silent on the ground is a bittersweet sight for Nonon Jakuzure.
That doesn't mean she isn't going to gloat and absorb all that her audiance has to offer. "Kinda like the Natural's election, isn't this?" She asks out loud, tapping the baton on her shoulder once, then once again. "Guess I kind of hand the home field advantage in a way. Well, you aren't much of a singer, but you sure tried for your solo~." The crowd of Honnouji Academy is silent as well - out of respect possibly.
Or perhaps Nonon ordered them to be silent, for the most part - on their best behavior.
"Well, look at it this way, you managed to force me to the final act~. That's pretty good against on of Honnouji's finest." Slipping off her hat, the uniform unwravels and reforms once more, returning to the pink band-leader and not the conductor, as it all vanishes - as if it never was. With a bow, she steps forwards, then bows again to the cameras and crowd.
'~I guess that went pretty well. Lady Satsuki won't have reason to doubt me. If I failed a third time in a row...~' Yet the smile on the outside, predatory as ever, bathes in the praise.
THe WMAT AQ2 concludes as she plays to the cameras and crowd - at least her own. That is, before a flying bus on a truck would come over to load the Honnouji students like cattle.
