WMAT A1 Ivraala vs Shin Tokuyama
Date of Scene: 16 September 2015
Location: Papaya Island - Stadium
Synopsis: The Combat Vagrant meets his match in the icy-veined Ivraala!
Cast of Characters: 679, 756
Tinyplot: WMAT 2015

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
Shin gets to fight in an actual Stadium Arena today! This is a nice change of pace from his last couple matches, which took place in the more wilderness-oriented areas of the Tournament. The Combat Vagrant is standing at one end of the arena, hopping up and down on his feet gently as he waits for his opponent to be prepared and for the match to start.

Unlike his last couple opponents, he hears that this next one is WAY different from usual and conventional fighting styles. It oughta be a fun fight, if one he's not fully sure how to deal with yet because he knows next to nothing about his next opponent. Still, he is here, and he's got his suit jacket and tie off, and his shirt sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
Ivraala entered the WMAT to satisfy her urge for combat; continuing over to the next round of the brackets due to her opponent dropping out is not exactly something she's content with, but...anger is not becoming of a draenei, even a corrupted one such as herself. Whatever frustration she feels over this is something she's siphoned out by the time she strides onto the arena in front of the eager crowd, ensuring that she's as cool and collected as she always tries to be.

Her hood stays drawn over her head, horns protruding from the holes cut into it, blocking out the light to hide her face aside from the glow of her frigid eyes and the purple gleam of her earring. Her greataxe stays on her back while she walks up to the arena, though her tail weaves behind her like an eager snake. Steady hoofbeats come until she stops a good distance away from Shin, where she stares evenly at him for a few quiet moments.

Soon enough, she bows, bending an arm in front of her waist before bending her tall frame forward. "Archenon poros." 'Good fortune,' it sounds like, thanks to the Multiverse's strange translation. Almost everything else she says is obviously English, though with a clear, chilly accent. "I am pleased to meet you here today. Let's hope both of us come away from this satisfied, hm?"

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
Shin nods his head to the woman as she enters the ring and then bows to him. He takes a turn to clench one fist into the other and bow back, "what up?" He says in a much less formal greeting than her own, "I agree. Let's have a good fight, whoever wins. I don't wanna leave here with regrets, and I've only really had one even fight so far," He adds.

He shifts his footing immediately, one hand coming up in front of himself and the other drawing back into a ready position. His feet gently slide across the stone underneath them to. It's only a few instants before his martial arts stance has been taken and he has a totally different look to his posture, "I'm ready when you are, so let's get this started."

Ivraala (679) has posed:
"You want me to start? Fine, then." Ivraala rolls her shoulders briefly, then lifts her hand to grasp the handle of her greataxe. The giant weapon is hefted up, and despite its size, it looks like she can manage to handle it without too much strain. The blade thuds against the floor: the runes lining it pulse with a cold glow, as a chilling aura emanates along the cutting edge.

"You may be surprised, I'll warn you," the draenei intones, lifting her free hand toward Shin. "But that's the point of this tournament, isn't it?"

The tattoos along her arm suddenly flare with a cold blue glow beneath her skin. A frigid, howling wind rushes at Shin in the same instant; if he's not quick enough, it would strike down to the bone with cold, and the baleful disease of Frost Fever would begin to steadily gnaw at him from within with ice.

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
"I'm surprised a lot in the Multiverse. I also get my ass kicked a lot. So there's not too much that will really bowl me over any more, but I look forward to being impressed," He comments blandly, using his non-forward hand to brush some hair from his eyes as he adjusts his stance when she takes out her blade.

He quickly tallies out how he's going to counter a blade while unarmed. But before he can get too far into that strategizing in his head, she blasts him with a howling wind that bites him right through to the bone, clearly jostling him a bit and doing a fair amount of damage.

In response, he tries to get moving immediately to shake the chill out of his body. He lunges straight in towards her, aiming a straight haymaker for the stomach of her armor. As soon as it makes contact, he releases a brief flash of Ki that turns bright red to try to empower his blow.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
Unfortunately, thanks to the fashion choices of the Scourge, Ivraala's stomach is...pretty unprotected. It's a perfect idea to go straight for that, and if she weren't undead, it'd probably have killed her by now. Again. Fortunately, the Death Knights can survive such fashion decisions.

Her outstretched arm is the first to go down to block his blow, but it's a little slower than it should be; by the time her arm meets his to jab it away, he's already delivered a blow to her stomach. The strange power reinforcing the blow is even enough for the towering woman to stagger back a few steps, fangs bared beneath her hood as she winces in pain. That's something to keep in mind to avoid, definitely.

"Interesting power you have," she hisses, before suddenly whirling ahead to retaliate. Not with her weapon, or magic, but with her long, strong tail that whips around to try and slam into the corner of his neck!

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
"Yeah well! Yours is pretty nifty, too," Shin hops back a few steps after the blow connects, trying to keep on his toes, "Ki, though, we call it. Just standard martial arts stuff." He wags his hand a bit, "Fuck, though. Your armor's hard like a motherfucker," He flexes his fingers.

"What's it made o- HERK," Shin gets caught in the corner of the neck with a swipe from her tail that sends him reeling a bit and leaves a fat welt where the neck and shoulder meet that is distinctly cylindrical in shape.

"FUCK ME, that hurt. Damn," Shin hops a bit, trying to shake out the pain. A couple moments later, he's dashing in towards the death knight. Only instead of another punch, he's trying to aim a trio of kicks at her. Two are aimed at her armor once more, while the third is delivered as a spinning heel kick to try to nail her in the temple.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
"Saronite," Ivraala hisses, a slight fanged smirk curling her lips. "The Scourge is a resiliant force thanks to it. And...other things, as you can probably tell."

Her tail lashes back again, and this time she's in a more prepared stance as Shin recovers. It's enough for her to be able to shift aside when that flurry of kicks strikes, one grazing against the armor at her waist - the dark metal's screech sounding almost /sentient/ when he hits. Shin seems very good at adjusting, though: the second thuds against her exposed stomach again, and when her body jolts forward, it's down enough that his spinning heel slams into her temple, jerking her head to the side.

Death Knights can't feel pain, but that doesn't stop the impact from briefly jarring Ivraala. It takes her a second to shake her head free of the strange dizziness, but when she does, she's swift to retaliate.

Her axe swings up, but it's the hilt that's sent slamming toward Shin's stomach to stun him. With a sharp, fierce shout, the draenei jumps, and those hooves come into play with two rapid kicks aimed straight for Shin's chest!

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
"Never heard of it. Between the name and the title 'The Scourge', sounds pretty ominous, not gonna lie," Shin comments as he hops up and down on his feet, trying to keep mobile so she can't predict too much. But that can only work so well against a combat veteran like Ivraala.

The axe gets a shallow hit against his stomach as he slides backwards. And he tries to turn away from the pair of kicks, one barely getting contact. The other connects cleanly, staggering him and sending him back a few steps as he wheezes for breath and tries to regain his stance.

It only takes him a couple moments to regain his footing, and once he does he's in towards her again. This time, his stance changes and resembles less Karate and more boxing. He's shifted styles mid-fight, trying to land a crushing series of blows on her midsection as he delivers repeated hooking punches.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
Ivraala's landing is a fluid one, bouncing her back right into an upright, combat-ready stance as Shin recovers. "Indeed," she replies, rolling her shoulders briefly before she starts striding up toward Shin again. "I'd recommend being /very/ worried about them. Hate them, even, if you feel like it."

Not much more time for banter, though: the Combat Vagrant's coming right in with his fists, and Ivraala needs to be on her guard. A solid punch comes in against her torso, but she doesn't feel the pain of it, even though it sounds like something probably broke a little in there; it lets her bring her free arm down and block his next blow with her bracer, the strange metal once more giving a chilling cry on impact as it soaks up Shin's strength.

The next blow isn't one she reacts to in time, however, and it's strong enough to jolt her back slightly and draw a hiss from between her teeth. When his fist comes back for a fourth pass, however, Ivraala's ready: her strong hand pushes down to grab that fist in her strong grip, and while it jolts her arm back, her hope is that it's enough to open up Shin for a quick counter.

The greataxe's runes flare briefly, causing the dense blue mist swirling around its blade to roil even thicker. It's this thick layer of frost magic that Ivraala swings right at Shin, and while the blast of ice won't slice into him like the blade would if it hit directly, that's a formidable blast of cold being backed by the draenei's unrestrained strength.

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
"Eh. I don't really hate much," Shin comments idly, dusting off his shirt as he tries to give her some room after his attack, mostly out of politeness and wanting some space to catch his own breath. He huffs a bit and then adds, "I mean. I hate some stuff, but it's not an emotion I really rock that much."

She's coming in at him again, though. And Shin immediately reacts by darting backwards, trying to get AWAY from whatever hoodoo magic she has in that axe she's wielding. It's a narrow escape, too, because the axe coems down directly in front of him with a huge explosion of frost. The backash of the blast hits him more than the actual blow, pushing him further back as he struggles for footing, "Wooooah, there."

Punching a fist into the ground and dragging it a bit to slow himself, he then pushes off and forward again, "I can do explosions to! Try my..." He coils his right hand back, wreathing it with red ki.

"Power Geyser!" He slams his fist into the ground at Ivraala's feet, trying to create a fiery explosion to catch her in.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
Flame may not be a /prime/ weakness against Death Knights aligned with the aspect of Frost, but it's definitely a good move in any event. Ivraala doesn't know where to retreat for such an attack, and the blazing explosion catches her, knocking her back and scorching the furs along her leggings. A precisely-aimed crouch keeps her from falling over when she lands, though she still skids a few feet along the floor.

She doesn't wait until she's stable to retaliate, though. Her arm thrusts out at Shin again as she gives a rough shout. Light pulses under her tattoos once more, just a second before a sickly green orb of unholy, undead power flies out from her hand. Pure shadow energy, which would heal undead like Ivraala, but against living targets...not so much.

"You remind me of a few monks I ran into long ago," the Death Knight mutters, eyes narrowing.

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
"HAH. Well, I did train on a mountain, but the monk life is totally beyond me. Way too much of being in one place," Shin comments as he shakes a few cinders and embers off his hands, "Combat Vagrant works, though. People also used Karate Hobo. I used to call it something else, but..."

He dashes to the side, trying to put up a field of ki around himself to sponge up the sickly energy. It swirls around him and then eats the energy of the ki instead of his life energy, "... well, no one really liked the old title," He shrugs before stepping in towards her again.

"You're pretty cray, though. Like... some nuts abilities goin' on here. And I don't think you can feel pain, can you? You just eventually hit a limit," He judges, "At least I haven't seen you really show any pain," He comments.

He comes in at her again, whirling his entire body and trying to bring an axe-kick down on top of her head as he presses in on his assault.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
"Old title?" Ivraala snorts a little, a hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of her mouth. She shakes out her casting hand briefly before moving it down to help grasp her axe. "Now you've got me curious. And you're a perceptive one, too; have you met other undead before, or are you just familiar with causing people pain?"

When he rushes back at her, the Death Knight brings up her axe to try and block, but the agile move is one that's not really familiar to her. Fortunately, her hood is armored enough to dampen the blow a little, but not by much: Shin's kick slams into the top of her head, jerking her down and nearly sending her off-balance.

Ivraala's clever enough, though, to make use of the position. She's not going to /gore/ Shin, but those horns are still quite solid. With a slight twist of her head, she's at a good enough angle to push all her strength into shoving herself upright...directly under Shin when he's landed. It's a rising headbutt with the hard body of her horn aimed for his jaw.

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
"It's a big huge mystery now. People can make a game of finding it out or something. I likebeing a Combat Vagrant more anyway," Shin grins back at her and raises his hands to prepare for a counter-assault, "And sorta. You study martial arts enough, you learn to tell when someone can or can't feel pain. Everyone normally has a tell, no matter how tough you are. You don't have a tell."

"Didn't know you were undead, though!" Shin says, momentarily distracted by the thought of how un-decomposed she is for an undead. That means he's left wide open for when her head comes up and slams into the underside of his jaw and his chin, dazing him spectacularly. He wobbles around a bit and his mouth lets out a spray of blood from the impact before he topples backwards onto his rear.

"Fuuuuuuuuuuck. Ow, damnit, sonuvabitch," Shin swears as he pops back up to his feet immediately, "Damn that hurt." He shakes his head, trying to clear the stars from his vision before focusing on Ivraala again, "Alright. No more holding back!"

Shin coils his fist back, "Ryuuken!" He calls as he thrusts it forward, sending a bright red fireball of energy at her. If it hits, it'll explode into fire. But that's not all, he's following in right behind it, trying to force her to create an opening as his hand comes down again, "Power Gesyer!"

He generates another powerful upburst of fire towards her, dashing forward again and trying to push through it.

He aims another punch towards her, trying to press his ki-projectile assault and finish it out with a trio of hard punches towards her jawline to round out the combo.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
Ivraala gives her neck a brief crack when she straightens up, looking more than a little satisfied with that hit. "You were holding back? Impressive. /Now/ I can look forward to seeing what you /really/ have!"

The draenei doesn't seem intent on stopping Shin, but she /does/ look ready to react to whatever he throws at her. Literally, to begin: the Combat Vagrant's cry and coiled fist is enough of a tell for her to know he's probably going to hurl something at her. She twists, the fireball grazing just past her on its path and scorching along her armor, but not coming close enough to explode. Shin rushes, and Ivraala thinks this is enough, charging ahead toward him...but he hits low again.

That geyser of fire blasts up at her feet, sending her staggering back as her body is burned by the flames. She winces, more in frustration at being caught off-guard than anything, but Shin's not slowing down. He rushes through the flames, and Ivraala's bracer comes up just in time to block that next punch with a shriek from her armor. Too slow, though, to block the next few strikes: one, two, three, each one slamming against her jaw and sending her staggering back, partially from recoil and partially to get an opening for herself.

She may not have gathered enough runic energy for a single, devastating blast, but the power of Death Knights is in versatility. A few quick casts, all stacking together...

The draenei whirls toward Shin, lashing out her arm as her tattoos pulse once more. The ground beneath him gathers a layer of frost as chains of ice burst out to coil around him, shackling him to a single spot for a few precious seconds. Another gesture and another pulse of her tattoos sends darkness slipping down into the ground beneath Shin, where a red arcane symbol radiates out for a few yards around him and sends shadow energy coursing up into him from the now-rotting arena floor. Another flash blasts a dark wave around Ivraala, sending shadow energy into Shin's blood to send it into a painful boil for a painful second. And with a last cry of exertion, her axe wreathes itself in another layer of that frigid power, and both hands swing it right at Shin as the chains of ice crack away to slam into him with another blast of frost.

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
A lot of things all come in at Shin all at once as he's recovering from the exertion of going at the Draenei as hard as he did. The recovery time, since everyone knows a fighting game Super has a few frames, is enough opening for her to come in with her own combination attack.

The chains come up and hold him in place, before the darkness below him eats away at his very existence in a painful way. The flash of shadow energy all comes in at him painfully as his blood is also set to boil a few moments later. The finale is when the axe comes down and hits Shin square in the chest, sending him backwards with a huge impact of frost and blood from his open wound that the axe left.

Shin lands face-down on the arena floor and his blood begins to pool around him somewhat. But he pushes himself to his feet and lifts his hands, gripping them into fists, "Holy shit lady. That was some intense mumbo jumbo you got there," He wipes some blood from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand.

"I'd actually probably go down after a hit like that usually, because lemme tell you, that shit hurt like a freight train with nothing but 'fuck' as the cargo. But... I gotta stick this one out to the end," He shakes his head a bit and wobbles, "My friend really wants me to take this to the finals, so I can't let her down."

He darts in again, reading his fists, "Hell of a fight, though. Win or lose after these next couple attacks, glad I got another really great fight out of someone," He comments.

And then he aims for a ki-powered cross-punch right across her chin.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
A sharp breath hisses from Ivraala once Shin is sent flying back. It's not so much that she needs to breathe, but that amount of exertion can take a toll on even an undead body, especially after she's taken so much damage, and even the undead occasionally find themselves resorting to the responses they gave in life.

"I'm impressed you stood up to it," she remarks, standing up straight as her tail lashes anxiously behind her. "You're really worth having gotten to this point. Worth continuing to the rest of the tournament, too. I have to wonder whose resolve will still have a thread left by the end..."

Shin charges, and Ivraala swings back, his fist missing her chin by an inch. It's enough of an opening for her to retaliate, suddenly swinging her hoof up to slam a kick up against his side with a rough shout of exertion. She may not have much strength left, but she's sure putting it all into this.

Shin Tokuyama (756) has posed:
Shin's punch misses by just a graze, causing him to let out a soft 'Tch' noise, "Anti-climacti- HURK." She catches him with a kick to the side that sends him staggering, wobbling in his footing as he tries to recover from the impact while still letting out an incredibly pained wheezing noise from the impact.

He plants one foot down in what is practically a stomp meant to steady himself. And then he whirls around, trying to land the back of his fist against Ivraala's chin in a spinning punch. But it's part of a combo instead of a single attack, and so he immediately steps in, trying to shoulder-check her with another burst of ki. The finisher to his combo is an attempt to jump up and launch a pair of bicycle kicks to her chest.

It's about all he has left in him to do something that fancy.

Ivraala (679) has posed:
Just as Ivraala gets her footing again from her attack, Shin's already swinging in at her. Too slow to react, she finds herself slammed in the jaw by his fist, sending her stumbling back again. But Shin doesn't relent: strike after strike slams into her, sending her stumbling again and buckling under each blow. She may not show /pain/, but /exhaustion/ is something even she can reveal. Shin was right; her body has to give out eventually.

And as those last two kicks slam into her chest, it does. The draenei goes flying back from Shin's final efforts, sending her tumbling across the arena floor and sprawled out on the ground. Her axe flies free, embedding its blade in the floor a few feet away and gathering rime along its surface.

The Death Knight's tail slowly swishes, and she lets out a low groan, but Ivraala doesn't manage to rise. Looks like she's out for the match!

The moment victory is declared, the present crowd roars to their feet with excitement, chanting the Combat Vagrant's title.
