WMAT A2 Rebound vs Fudou Moto
Date of Scene: 02 October 2015
Location: Papaya Island - Stadium
Synopsis: Fudou Moto and Rebound meet for the second time in the WMAT with unexpected results.
Cast of Characters: 750, 770, 784

Rebound (750) has posed:
Ah the arena, Rebound's home turf, so to speak. She's won both of the fights she's had in here. Something about the cheering crowd and the familiar setting makes her feel at home. Right now the kangaroo combatant is shadow-boxing at nothing in her corner of the fighting field.

She's got her gauntlets armed and ready, and she's waiting for her opponent to arrive. They've fought before, and the street fighter is the only one to hand her a loss so far. She's determined to get her hands on him and prove that the win was a fluke last time.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
From up in the announcer's box, there's a PERFECTLY NORMAL SIZED KOBOLD with a southern drawl commentating the match! Say hell to Target Sparktail! "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD EVENING, WMAT FANS! Tonight, straight from the stadium over'n the Papaya Island is gonna be a slobernocker of a fight between the kickboxin roo known as Rebound and the street fightin' main man Fudou Moto in a grudge match from the Bracket A Qualifier! So far, Rebound's not lost a single match except to this one fella! Will revenge come around or will the street fighter go 2 and 0 against the roo! Get in yer seat, tune yer radios, or head on out to the WMAT Stadium to find out! Get some snacks though, this one's gonna be great!"

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
A fluke? Nonsense! Fudou Moto lives for the fight, it's only natural that he'd be able to put up a hell of one.

The street fighter arrives in short order, his pants looking significantly more scuffed up today than the last time she'd seen him. Evidently, he's using the very same set of clothes for each fight. Reasonable, from an economic point of view. Also kind of stylish, in a way!

"Round two, huh?" Fudou rumbles, his stance unfolding into a loose, brawling lurch. "Give me everything you've got, 'roo. I won't be pulling any punches today, either."

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
"Alright," his lips draw into a wide grin. There's a thick, meaty *THUD* as he slams his knuckles together, "My little girl's out there watching somewhre, so let's try to put on a show, huh?" With that, he dips down...

And then, like a bolt taking off out of the blue, Fudou rushes in. His profile low, the Street Fighter wastes little time in sliding in under Rebound's guard. Toes dig into the ground, etching a trench into the arena floor.

With a roar, he drives his right fist in, following through with the whole of his body weight. The muscles in his legs fire like pistons, shooting him forward and upward in a driving uppercut!

IS THIS A SHORYUKEN!?

No, he's not a shotoclone. This is just a painful rising punch to the gut.

Rebound (750) has posed:
With her opponent coming in hard and fast, Rebound moves to try to block the blow, but misjudges the range just enough for it to penetrate through and strike her in the gut. She rolls backwards as she's hit, falling back and catching herself with her tail. Since she's already falling back, she moves to grab her opponent's arm.

Moving her feet up, she goes to plant them in Fudou's stomach and continue her backwards roll, to kick him off of her and send him flying through the air.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
And the fight begins! Up in the booth the kobold lets out a woop as Fudou's DRAGON PUNCH. "First strike goes ta the one with the scuffy lookin' pants! Lookin' like a pretty solid hit from up here, though, Rebound comes right back with a shot of her own! Looks like she wants ta throw Fudou behind her! didn't look like a very good landin either!"

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
A kick to the gut. Fudou expected that sort of thing from an oversized kangaroo. He's trained for it! A week of watching kangaroos punt each other on NeYouTube prepared him well! The Street Fighter goes flying and comes down hard, bounding off the ground once before he rights himself in mid-air, sliding to a full stop a short distance away.

There's a low huff of breath. Fudou's eyes narrow.

Another burst of movement. Fudou drives in at tremendous speeds. His rushdown technique is impressive, if unrefined- really, it looks almost like a bestial lope. But at the last moment, he shifts, diving down low to try and seize the mutant by one of her legs.

If he grabs hold, he'd twist, trying to hurl her not only head-over-heels, but bodily overhead, through the air, and hard down into the arena floor!

Rebound (750) has posed:
Getting grabbed is never much fun, especially when it's followed up by being bodily thrown through the air. Rebound lands on her back, but thankfully her judo training is enough to absorb some of the impact. It's not enough to get her out of the full impact but she's able to roll back up to her feet.

Taking a moment to brush herself off, she brings her arms up, and the two gauntlets hiss to life, lines of green running down the sides of them as the pulsarium conduits inside go live. With them powered up, she rushes towards him again, intent to lay into him with several blows from the gauntlets to help charge them up.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
"Oh wow! After gettin' tossed it looks like Fudou's thinkin' the same thing! With an ol' heave-ho it looks like Rebound's gonna be reintroduced to the ground here in the arena! After gettin' up she rushes in and introduces Fudou to them armored bits on her arms a few times!". Off the mic, the kobold waves down at one of the folks selling things around the arena, "Oy! Bring me a coupla those hot dogs and some water, would ya?! High energy fight! I need energy for myself too!"

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
Fists pound mightily into the Street Fighter's body. Bones pop and crack with each heavy strike. Fudou... grins through the pain. Even as bruises already begin to burst into bloom across his skin, Fudou seems like he's going to keep right on trucking.

Besides, Rebound turned this into a proper brawl.

Or, in other words, it's turned into his kind of fight.

A fist slams into one of Rebound's own, flesh and bone splitting and cracking against the heavy metal of her gauntlets. Even as blood flecks the floor, though, that same hand seems to waft with thin contrails of red light. Fudou roars, advancing into the rain of blows.

He punches.

He punches more.

He does not seem intent on stopping.

Rebound (750) has posed:
At this point the two of them are both just punching each other relentlessly. It has devolved into a bar brawl rather than a fight in the traditional sense. But as the two of them wail on each other, those gauntlets continue to charge. The energy in them builds and grows until suddenly the green lights on the sides flash bright and drivers reach full charge.

With that done, Rebound hauls back and then releases a massive haymaker swing, intent on punching him full force with her Corona Arclite made gauntlets and release the stored up kinetic energy into him with the impact. She'll still have a backup in the other hand, too, should the need arise.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
"I think we got a great slobberknocker goin on at the arena right now! Fudou's lettin' loose with a whole flurry of punches at Rebound! I don't think I'd like ta have that many punches comin against my noggin, I can tell ya that fer sure! Looks like Rebound's gauntlets are gonna leave a sting though! That punch, reinforced by that blast, looks like it hurt!" Target yells, starting to chow down one of the hotdogs he just received. Professionalism? What's that? The kobold is just having a good time!

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
A proper slugfest is the kind of fight Fudou loves. Nothing but two brawlers, their fists, and a whole host of bruises, broken bones and good, old fashioned violence. The Street Fighter gives as good as he gets, fists firing like trip-hammers in response to every jab and body blow.

And then Rebound uses her secret weapon.

The strike hits him square across the jaw. The arena goes up with a gasp as they *hear* the bones in his collar snap like twigs. The brawler is thrown back...

But he... stays on his feet.

His neck cranes over, red light flaring deep within the pits of his eyes.

"Not bad," he murmurs, leaning forward. His neck pops as he does, bones in his chest and shoulders grinding slowly back into place, though they don't exactly 'set' as they probably should, either.

Which might be a problem as he closes the distance to pick up from where he'd left off.

There's something different, though. There's more force behind his blows, and each punch is thrown faster than the last. Some kind of terrible momentum is building- not in some piece of technology or bit of magical jewelry, but suffused into his very flesh. A deep, RED haze chases after every strike, rising from the muscles in his arms and shoulders like steam from a running boiler.

Fudou Moto is getting fired up.

Rebound (750) has posed:
At first Rebound is actually a little worried. This guy's an Elite, he should be able to take a hit like that or he wouldn't be this far in the tournament in the first place, but that sound was horrifying. The human body should not bend in that direction.

As he suddenly recovers from it, however, she drops back into a defensive stance, that red energy building around him starting to become worrisome. She's seen similar when she was fighting those Neo-Saiyans, and she doesn't like it. She manages to deflect several of the blows as they come in, looking for an opporitunity to strike. She just needs an opening.

She finally spots one as he throws another strike, slipping under the punch and moving to grab his arm with her left. She throws herself into the air, bringing both of her thick legs around to try to wrap them around his arm and drop herself to the ground, wrenching back on his arm as she does so. If she can pull it out of socket, or shatter the elbow, it should give her an edge in the fight.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
"I dunno what's goin on with Fudou but he's lookin really hot! And I don't mean it the way yer all thinkin, I mean he's steamin! Steamin MAD! Kinda lookin' like the punches the fella's throwin are comin down a lot harder as he gets redder! I'm really startin' ta think I'm glad I don't have to fight'em. Phew. As the blows keep comin' Rebound latches on to one of'em and tries to get Fudou's arm outta the socket! She is -not- playin' nice anymore!" Target actually has been wincing at some of the hits Fudou's taking. Those sounds. Yeish. Don't sound nice at all.

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
Another grotesque noise. Fudou hits the ground with a roar of pain as his arm is dragged in one agonizing jolt out of its socket. The impact disturbs his already badly fractured torso, causing the whole thing to grind painfully together.

This guy is an Elite. Why is he taking so much damage?

More importantly, why is he still able to keep right on going?

Perhaps there's something about that strange force that, even now, blazes from the limb Rebound's taken up in her grasp. It's hot- but not in the normal, 'this is kind of like fire' sort of way. This heat scalds under the skin, it burns from somewhere deeper within. If it's flame, then it's a metaphysical kind of flame- a platonic idea of what 'inner fire' might truly be.

His hand opens.

It grabs hold of Rebound from within her grip.

Muscles all over the brawler's body strain and burn as he, impossibly, begins righting himself. The heavy drumbeat of his heart thrums through his veins and against the membrane of his eardrums as he stands, dragging Rebound up with him, but not letting her fall away from his arm.

For a moment, he stands there, muscles tensed.

And then they explode into motion. Like a thousand, thousand springs or pistons all firing at once, Fudou launches himself into a rolling leap, dragging the mutant through the air like an improvised bludgeon strapped to his arm. He twists, trying to slam her down, a sledgehammer of flesh and bone, into the arena floor.

Rebound (750) has posed:
She's a bit shocked when suddenly he seems to power through and pick her up through the air. So much for that plan. She tries to release her grip on him but at this point he has hold of her. Now she's scrambling, suddenly back on the defensive and trying to break free but it's too little too late as she gets herself slammed into the ground full force.

She's dazed for a moment as she lays there, but she remembers she still has the full charge in the left hand Impact Driver. From the ground she angles her arm at him, clenching her fist and triggering the ranged blast effect. It'll fire off a blast wave of kinetic energy which should put plenty of room between the two of them if it strikes the way it's supposed to.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
*GASP* "I dunno what is goin on with Fudou but he's startin' to be as violet as a deathscale down there! He's -burning- up and somehow he's turnin that crazy energy into the strength he's usin to turn Rebound into some kinda bludgeon to hit the ground with! Despite it all, she's STILL gettin' up! Crowd's TOTALLY diggin it! Heck, they're diggin this whole fight, crazy and violent as it is! Rebound still has a trick up her sleeve though! One of'er gauntlets unleashes a blast at Fudou to try and get some breathin' room!" Chowing down on the second hotdog, chugging down that water. Target is totally enjoying himself.

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
A shockwave. Thunder blasts through the arena air, a wave-front of compressed kinetic force tearing a hollow trench into the floor. A nearby wall cracks. Fudou...

Fudou's hand grasps her wrist, forcing it away.

It tightens, rough hands squeezing like a vise.

Power thrums across his palm- she would be able to feel it, a hot, furious pulse that races through his veins. An aurora of red-orange twilight power twists across the length of the Street Fighter's arm as he twists, going to drive the mutant /back/ into the ground.

A dull roar seems to build in the air. It takes a moment to realize that it's the sound of Fudou's voice, bellowing, crescendoing. It's the sound of his fists firing like a rain of meteors, hammering over and over and over again at his opponent. Mercy evaporates with the red haze. Each blow falls harder than the last, a pummeling storm of crimson comets.

And all the while, that power twists from his shoulders in drifting, smokey tendrils as it builds. Higher and higher, hotter and hotter, with each passing moment, that terrible, ancient, wrathful pulse seems to overtake the heartbeat of the world casting it into colors long forgotten.

Burnt gold and ashen terracotta.

Rebound (750) has posed:
Despite her shape, Rebound does not have any of these powers. She can't bring the power of long forgotten beings to bear on her opponents. She can't channel the very energy of the universe into energy blasts to unleash upon an unsuspecting foe. All she has is her brains and her guts and her four limbs.

She gets driven into the ground with enough force to shatter the stones that make up the arena floor, but she's not out, not by a long shot. She brings up her arms, defending all the blows she can, taking the ones she can't and plotting how to free herself.

Considering the location, she has to work quick. She shifts her weight to bring both feet up below her opponent, and then kicks up with all the force she can muster. A double legged kangaroo kick by itself is no joke, she's flipped a semi truck with it before, but the follow up is where the real power lies.

As soon as she has him off of her, she kips up to her feet. Battered and bloodied, she never the less intends on unleashing hell, crouching down and then bounding upwards. She sails up into the air, past her opponent, to set up in an intercept position and give him a second kick, sending him back down to the stone of the arena floor with the same force she sent him up into the air with in the first place.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
For about a solid 5 seconds, Target is gawking at Fudou, but then he remembers why he was at the arena to begin with. "Folks, I got -nothin- for what's goin on in th eright right now! There is some insane amount a energy pourin' off Fudou and I just dun got the words for it! He just went -in- on Rebound and let'er have it with a fist! It's NUTS over here! I dunno how but Rebound's still managin' to fight back! She is though, and she's sent Fudou airborne before tryin ta smash'm back into the arena floor! Mah god this is INSANE!"

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
There's something to be told for knowing oneself. The true masters of the martial arts know themselves perfectly, to the point that it becomes intuitive. Beyond mere instinct, they master the rhythm of their very souls, drawing it into their limbs or out into the world.

Fudou is not a master.

He has power, but he knows next to nothing of it. Those he has gone to for help have told him little; that his soul was tumultuous, that his wrath was great and terrible and blinding, that they had never seen such a strange Qi. He knew all this already; he lived it, every single day, and learned to control it in his own way.

But he is no master.

He knows not of its nature.

Fudou's flurry of blows is interrupted. A swift kick sends him hurtling into the air. The brawler has barely any time to react when his opponent rockets up past him. For a brief moment, he sees her wind up another and then, with a sudden rush of wind and a crack of whiplash, he's sent, falling like a stone, into the earth below.

A plume of dust obscures his landing. It doesn't last for long.

More thunder. This time, it's a little more... grounded. A bass rumble that seizes a body in the hollow of the chest and shakes them from the base of the belly. The ground itself trembles, the air splits.

Fudou blasts into the sky, his hands and arms snapping out like an eagle seizing its prey in mid-flight. Red energy swaddles him like cloth, twisting out from him in streamers as he keeps going up, up, up, but...

Eventually, he has to come down.

When he does so, he twists in such a way that he'll have a nice cushion to land on...

Rebound's entire body.

Rebound (750) has posed:
The kangaroo is shocked when he knocks her down, getting her in a position to counter everything she's just done. She hits the ground, and he hits the ground after her, on top of her. It's not a fun landing, presumably for either of them.

But she's not down for the count, not yet. So despite the impact, she gets up to her feet, stumbling ab it as she tries to adjust her stance. She wipes her mouth off, spitting up some blood as she moves back towards him. It's nothing fancy. It's fast, and brutal, as she goes in with knee strikes, elbow strikes, and she'll finish up the flurry with a headbutt to try to get him to go down and stay down.

Target Sparktail (770) has posed:
At this point, Target is standing on his chair as he's comentating, actually JUMPING up and down at the action. "Up, down, up again, and crashing back down again! "These two are goin up'n down more often then rail cars in a mine! I can't imagine that any of this felt good for either of'em, but Rebound is lookin like she got to be the cushon to Fudou's fall from the sky jes'now! Rebound is -still- gettin up though! These two are goin crazy on each other and the crowd is -loving- it! The roo is going in with a whole flurry of strikes now to try and finish off Fudou!"

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
The impact is jarring, it's painful, it comes with enough force that it could easily shatter bones. Given Fudou's track record thus far, one could be excused for thinking that it'd leave him a puddle of shattered limbs, but it... doesn't. With a visceral leap, the brawler rolls away, whatever bones he might have dislocated sliding back into place under the influence of that strange, red power.

But Rebound is soon upon him once again. Fists pound his body and claws rend his flesh, knees hammer his bones and a headbutt hurls his brain against the inside of his skull. It's the kind of thing that could break any fighter.

Which is why it may be slightly disconcerting that he's standing there, his forehead pressed against hers, eyes white with fury, and staring right into Rebound's own.

Two hands reach up for the sides of her head. Two hands close tight around the shell of her skull. Fudou draws back, his arms hold firm. Pistons fire in his torso, legs, shoulders, his head slams forward, the flat slate of bone of his brow transformed into a biological sledgehammer, albeit one aimed right for the soft bones of Rebound's face.

Rebound (750) has posed:
The headbutt comes in to the bridge of her nose, shattering her muzzle with the force of the impact. She's dazed and bloodied and rapidly watching the world close in on her as she slips towards unconciousness. She doesn't have too much left, legs wobbly, feet starting to try to give out. Then she hears that familiar sound of the Impact Drivers being charged.

She doesn't have time to plan the move out. It's not graceful or pretty, she just hauls back with both hands and thrusts them upwards, towards his chest and abdomen. She doesn't even care where she hits him, the charged kinetic energy blast should do the job. Though if she hits a little low she won't feel bad about it

Fudou Moto (784) has posed:
It's as if a storm had settled over the arena. A peal of angry thunder, a shockwave of tremendous, unstoppable force smashes into the Street Fighter. Crimson fluid paints the arena floor as his flesh frays and bones shatter. Fudou tumbles through the air, sailing like a missile into the coliseum wall.

Cracks spread. Plaster falls in great sheets, sending up a great plume of dust. Fudou sags against the broken building, his breaths coming in great gasps as the hole in his chest bleeds.

Darkness claims the periphery of his vision. The world, cast into shadow, begins to fade away along with every erg of that mysterious, crimson power.

His head lolls back as he's taken by the sweet embrace of--

DADDY!

That voice. His breath catches- Fudou turnes his eye upward as droplets of... /something/ fall against his cheek. That voice is... It's...

His daughter.

The face of his daughter, looking down upon him.

With tears in her eyes.

Daddy, you have to get up!

He has to get up. Fudou grunts, his legs find their strength, his arms tighten over the gaping wound in his chest, groping at the blood. The street fighter staggers forward--

Fight!

He catches himself.

Win!

His head turns upward, flame igniting in his eyes. In his veins. The night is cast back. The sun rises anew.

We believe in you!

"You," Fudou growls, his fist clenching tight. White light throbs in his veins, pushing away the red. Tongues of red-orange flame lift from his lips. "You made my little girl cry."

Thunder.

Fudou launches himself forward, a sphere of rolling thunder on legs. Fury becomes him. His hands surge like a typhoon of violence, fusing into a single, devastating blow as he closes in--

And delivers a punch that shakes the arena to its foundations.

Rebound (750) has posed:
It should have been enough to finish him off. She doesn't know why it didn't, like some other power was at play here. Rebound rises up after she strikes her blow, only to find her opponent still standing. She doesn't understand it, but she doesn't have much left to defend against him either.

She doesn't even attempt to block the strike as it comes in, holding her arms out to her sides and letting it strike her full force. The impact shatters the ground around her and sends her sailing off of the arena floor, flying into the wall that surrounds the arena proper.

Members of the audience scramble for cover as the mutant kangaroo smashes into seats, winding up somewhere about the tenth row. Thankfully the medical crews are on hand to evacuate her, and the repair crew that always seems to be on stand-by in the arena can get to work on patching the wall and stands before the next fight is set to begin.
