Lost Dog Returns
Date of Scene: 04 November 2015
Location: Boston-666
Synopsis:
Cast of Characters: 253, Heinkel Wolfe (Dropped)

Psyber (253) has posed:
Since the tower renovations, it's usually Psyber that mans the front desk. At least, that's where he can be found when he's not doing field work. Today is, luckily, a slow day for him. Since the events of Terra Majora and Lordran, he's had much more downtime. So, thusly, he can be found precisely at the aforementioned front desk.

The building is open for business, though as usual most of its clients are handled via online or phone, with every few walk-ins. Plus, Halloween just passed so the city is in clean-up mode rather than making trouble. That means that during the downtime of no phonecalls, Psyber is casually leaning back in an office chair and reading a newspaper with his feet up on the counter.

Overall, it is a pretty quiet and relaxed afternoon. Not much to worry about or focus on.

Heinkel Wolfe (Dropped) has posed:
There's no rest for the weary or the wicked. So it goes that the resident Vatican operative has been halfway across the globe in pursuit of the freakazoid mass-produced vampires that she's really come to loathe. One lead led to another, which then led to no less than three red herrings and several headaches.

After chasing leads for what felt like and probably was months, Bishop Maxwell finally decided that nothing was going to come of having Section XIII investigate the problem, and left his operatives to their own devices until more information came to light.

So, after another headache-inducing scramble through the airport, Heinkel Wolfe had booked herself a ticket from the Vatican back to the fair city of Boston, and the agency which she does occasional work for.

Outside one can hear the sound of a motorcycle headed down the road. A very old motorcycle. An antique motorcycle, in fact, a German bike that sounds like it's been restored just enough to make it run. The engine shuts off, and there comes a hearty thud, as of something heavy being dropped.

About ten minutes later the agency doors bang open on their hinges. In staggers a familiar figure -- tall, slightly disheveled, and muttering darkly under her breath in German. In marches Heinkel Wolfe, lugging two very large suitcases, which she lets drop on the floor. She's wearing her usual rough and tumble long coat, priest's collar, and dark sunglasses; although it's not possible to see her squint behind the dark lenses, she does frown and tilt her head like a confused dog.

"Vhat." Her voice is a croak. She snorts, absently adjusting the lay of her collar. "I go avay for a few months, you get demoted into desk vork. I see how it is. You rent out my room here vhile you're at it, too?"

Stern, stone-faced expression... wait for it... grin.

"Vell. Good to see the place hasn't burnt itself down vhile I vas gone, anyvay. So. Vhat have you been up to, Boss?"

Psyber (253) has posed:
It's always a pleasant surprise when Heinkel finds the time to return to the office between the long jaunts that the Vatican sends her around hither, thither and yon all over the world for business. He looks up from his newspaper, peering over the end of it as she arrives back through the front door of the office and tilts his head a little, "Hardly anything so dramatic. I prefer the front desk when I'm not doing fieldwork or taking time off."

Her grin is returned in kind, the paper folding up and setting down on the desk in front of him, "That's a trick question, though. You don't have a room. You usually only stay long enough to get comfortable on the couch before you take off again," He points out as he starts to adjust himself in the chair, "So I can't have rented out your room."

"Welcome back, though. It's nice to see you're doing well, despite Vatican business," He comments, answering her question a few moments later, "I've been busy. As usual, quite a few changes have happened over the past year or so. Nothing particularly amazing, but it's always busy."

Heinkel Wolfe (Dropped) has posed:
"Hunh. Vould've pegged you for someone out there to do the hunting, not a desk jockey." Heinkel shrugs out of her coat, tossing it over one of the suitcases, and revealing a sweater underneath. "Guess papervork isn't so bad. I end up doing a lot of it for Yumie." That is to say, when Yumie inevitably flips out and does incredibly violent things, Heinkel has to exercise damage control. And also handle the invoices for travel and supplies.

She grins at the assessment about the room. Maybe it's something of a trick question. With a trick answer, apparently.

"Thanks." A forefinger pushes the shades more firmly up the bridge of her nose. "Vell, I don't haf any bullet holes in me yet, or tooth-marks. At least nothing so bad you'd notice. Figured I'd come back and offer my services to the Union again. Ve lost our leads, so vhile the Vatican figures out vhat ve're going to do about this ongoing investigation, I haf nothing to do but sit on my hands. Or maybe do a few odd jobs for this place." She listens a moment about his statement on changes, and rolls one shoulder in a shrug. "It's the multiverse. Everything changes. Is changing. I'd expect that much."

She sidesteps around the unburdened suitcase to sit down on top of it, apparently trusting its sturdy, tank-like build to support her weight without caving. Wait a minute, are those things reinforced with /metal/? "So. Any open cases I can stick my nose in?" She shows those slightly sharp teeth in a grin again. "I don't vant to report back to Bishop Maxvell just yet. Von't kill him to stall for a day or two."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Oh, I do both. It's part of what comes with running the whole place, you know that," He waves a hand vaguely around as if to indicate the office itself, "I handle office work when there aren't field operations I need to be out on." He lets out a somewhat tired yawn and then watches her as she pushes up her sunglasses.

"If you wanna cool your heels and hang around here until the next bout of work, you know you're always welcome. Your access codes and keys should still work and all," Psyber comments as he watches her sit down on her suitcase. When she asks about open missions, he pulls open the desk and seems to go through some files.

"Banari's world seems to be growing active again recently. There's also a world unified with fairy tale connotations. One of the Hyrules has an ongoing crisis. Priscilla's world is moving into a new phase of existence and needs stabilization. One of the Gensokyos also seems to have ongoing incidents," He muses as he looks over a list.

"Plus whatever other flare-up incidents occur day to day."

Heinkel Wolfe (Dropped) has posed:
Leaning over so she can rest her elbows against her knees, Heinkel glances up, raising a brow. Oh, good. Her keys still work, and her access codes also still work. That's always good to know, especially when you're getting back to the agency in the middle of the night, covered in monster ichor, pounding on the door because you need a shower so badly you're ready to kill something else to get into one--

  Ahem.

"Never a dull moment." She laces her fingers, resting her chin on the backs of her fingers. "Hunh. Tell me more about the Banari case, and the Gensokyo case. Might be something I can do vit those."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"The Banari case is that her world has an ongoing series of paranormal crises that arise and abate depending on unknown factors. Substantial active periods and then lots of silence. I've yet to personally dispatch to the world due to the fact my own schedule was tied up in Terra Majora and Lordran," Psyber hands her an abbreviated casefile, "You can talk to Riva for more information and see what she needs people to be doing out there."

"The Gensokyo issue..." He flips through numerous files and pulls out another, sliding it over, "A being from Gensokyo seems to be making repeated incursions into the Multiverse, based off my intelligence. I'm not sure what they want or what they're doing. Marisa Kirisame or Konoe Kanno are good points of contact for that."

"The former will almost certainly be a good fit for your combat skills and capabilities. I've been getting reports of monsters and undead."

Heinkel Wolfe (Dropped) has posed:
"So, something's causing trouble, and nobody knows vhat it is just yet. Sounds like an investigation's in order, although I guess someone's bound to have thought that up. There's just no leads, probably," Heinkel muses, frowning as she reaches into her pocket, withdrawing a small plastic baggie of... what looks like celery sticks, one of which is plucked free and crunched on thoughtfully. The bag is silently offered to Psyber. Want some? "Maybe I can have a look around. I doubt I'll see anything that other people missed, but it's vorth a look, anyvay."

Crunch, crunch. Heinkel considers for a few seconds, flopping the folder open and skimming through it. "Ja, I'll talk to her. See vhat I can find out." She snaps it shut, setting it aside.

The next case file is taken, and skimmed through even as Psyber explains the nitty-gritties. "Hunh. Ja, I'll talk to them too. If it's something that shouldn't be here, ve can talk to it, maybe. Or I can start shooting it, if that's vhat it needs."

Monsters and undead? Heinkel smiles, slowly, the sort of toothsome smile that sets no-name Iscariot personnel on edge. "You just said the magic vords. I'll get in touch vit' Riva immediately. Oh, and about transportation. I haf another car, so I'll need some room in the garage. Maxvell's going to haf a 'company car' sent out to me." One can almost hear the air-quotes. In reality it's just a black sedan with heavy armour plating, tinted windows, and probably something made of silver somewhere in the body. Running over the things that go bump in the night with a car is a completely legitimate tactic. "Just von, though, and I probably von't drive it much. Official Iscariot business is few and far between on this side of the pond." She wrinkles her nose. "I trust my motorcycle to get me vhere I need to go a lot faster than those boats; you know, I really don't like driving large vehicles."

Leaning back, she looks over, studying the office foyer. "Not too much different around here, though. It's nice to haf a place to jump back into things." Her sunglasses turn back to Psyber. "I should introduce you to Yumie some time. I think you'd like her." Pause. "Vell." Longer pause. "Yumiko, maybe."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber brings up a hand and waves the celery sticks off. Not much a fan of them outside the context of hotwings, in his case. He adjusts his chair a bit and nods his head, "You can go ahead and keep the file, it's not my original copy." (OOC: And consult with Riva where necessary for what it might have in it.)

"Riva's good, I think you'll get along with her well if you can put up with her eccentric nature." He slides the drawer in the desk shut, nodding his head, "We can get a place for you in the car port, no problem. I'll get you a spot number as soon as I figure out a good place for you to put it. No hassle at all."

"Always preferred cars to bikes, myself. Better for what I need them to do, that is," He notes off-handedly, leaning back in the chair and saying, "Yeah, you've told me about Yumie... or Yumiko... before, vaguely. She sounds like a nice girl," He remarks as he start shutting more drawers on the desk, "I wouldn't mind meeting her at some point, no."

Heinkel Wolfe (Dropped) has posed:
"Thanks." Heinkel stands up, kicks her suitcase open, and stuffs one of the two folios into it before latching it closed and dropping back down to sit on it. "I'll talk to Riva vhen I can. She'll haf more details than this."

  Eccentric?

She snorts. "I vork vit' Section XIII. How is she going to be any more eccentric than them?" Heaving herself back up to her feet, she nudges one of her suitcases closer with a boot, folding her arms. "Ja, just leave the number on my radio or something. I'll put my motorcycle there in the meantime." Flipping through the remaining folio, she shrugs. "Prefer bikes to get from point A to point B, but I need a car if I'm going to be shooting something. Can't exactly fit that case on the back of my bike, even if I love that bike. It's not exactly subtle."

Yumie? She grins, toothy. "Nein, nein. I probably told you about Yumiko, and she /is/ a nice girl. Yumie is her other personality. Also, Yumie is a bloodthirsty berserker who'll kill any person she thinks is a threat to the Church. Or, you know, even if they're not, just to be safe. I'm her handler; I know how to vake Yumie up vhen she's needed... or put her to sleep."

"Ve had a job in the Middle East, a few years back, before I joined the Union. Nobody there knew she vas a split personality. The papervork from that took a vhile," she sighs.

Stooping, she grabs hold of her suitcases, coat still balanced on one of them. "Anyvay, I'm going to go dump these upstairs. You're right; I like the couch, but I can't really fit my crap under it, so I'll just pick a room. Call me if anything comes up; you haf my number."

With that, if he hasn't got any other pressing reason to stop her, she'll shuffle along on her way. "I'll see about dragging Yumiko over here. Don't vork too hard," she tosses over her shoulder.

Psyber (253) has posed:
"Sure, sure. Feel free to settle in. Leftovers in the fridge and all that," Psyber gives her an off-hand wave and then settles back into his chair, not bothering to help with the suitcases. It's not meant to be rude, he just doesn't doubt Heinkel can handle them on her own and doesn't want to insult her by implying otherwise.

"We should still have a few spare rooms open, sure. Nothing special, but I doubt you need much," He sighs and picks up the newspaper again, unfolding it and going back to flipping through the pages to look for an interesting story to read, "Welcome back and all that, Heinkel."

There's a bit of a yawn as the feet go back up on the desk and he takes a more relaxed position.
