Duet's First Christmas In Boston
Date of Scene: 12 December 2015
Location: Boston-666
Synopsis: It's pretty adorable.
Cast of Characters: 92, 253

Psyber (253) has posed:
Psyber has asked Duet to meet him somewhere to talk. However, that location is not at the office. It is instead somewhere around the northern end of the city. It's cold out, Winter starting to set in to the city and the temperature going towards freezing almost every night. It makes one wonder why Psyber would pick such a weird place to meet him.

Well, the answer is pretty simple. Upon arrival, the place is revealed to be an ice skating rink. It's got a middling population for the night and Psyber is leaning up against one of the railing with two pairs of skates in his hand. He has devious plans for the poor Duet.

Duet Fortuna (92) has posed:
Duet shows up wearing a bikini and- wait, no. Actually she's bundled up reasonably well, though the way she moves hints that under the coat, she doesn't have layers. She's more resistant to cold now, so it takes less to make her 'comfortable' even if she still needs a coat. It does make for a weird place to meet, though. "Heeeey!"

Oh yeah, waving like that. She's far more... mobile nowadays. Energetic. She also smirks, showing that she isn't that surprised by the idea. "I should warn you, Psy, that I took second place in the priesthood annual ice skating competition at Lake Kanna."

She lets that sink in for about ten seconds before she reaches out to take the skates, "I'm just kidding, I'll probably fall on my ass a few times."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"It wouldn't surprise me if one of your infinite talents was the ability to skate," Psyber says to her with a wide grin on his face as he hands her the skates before sitting down on a bench to put his own on. The skates themselves should fit as he says, "But I figured, hey. You wanna live a normal life, this is what normal friends," A pause, "Or, you know, normal couples. Your choice. This'd be what they do."

Still not sure where he stands there. But he seems pretty laid back about the whole affair, "It's all about balance and just taking it easy. I'm not the beeest either, but I'll catch you if you take a bad spill, so don't be afraid to fall into me. I doubt you could really knock me over that easily."

When he stands up again, he extends his hand to her, "Come on, let's give it a try."

Duet Fortuna (92) has posed:
"Saaadly no," Duet laughs, lacing up the skates. "It isn't really a sport that was in my region, but I have at least heard of it before unification. I guess I'll see how I do!" She smirks as she manages to stand, walking along with hand on Psyber's arm. "Ah, this isn't too hard at all!"

Of course, as soon as she steps on the ice she'll end up on her ass.

Psyber (253) has posed:
Or will she? Because credit to Psyber's promise, as soon as she goes over backwards, a hand is around her waist to catch her in something halfway between what a dip might look like and the motion to catch a wildly-thrown football. Either way, he's hoisting, wobbling, and winding up setting her upright again, "Ooookay, there we go. Come on. Try to find your center of balance."

"Uuuh, you got sword training, right? Think of it as similar, you wanna find the stance that lets you move and glide along easiest," He smiles gently and tries to help guide her along, "So how's it feel being normal-ish, anyway?" He asks quietly.

Duet Fortuna (92) has posed:
Duet actually chuckles as she steadies herself. "Yes, I had formal training. I just... am not used to having it quite this way." She does have good balance, after all, and probably could fight on the ice in a pinch... but wearing skates changes things considerably. It makes her wobble more, then straighten as she slowly adjusts her center of gravity. She isn't ready to skate, but she's feeling better about moving her feet.

"I don't think I'll ever be normal," Duet points out lightly. "But it's... nice, to not have a driving force behind me constantly pushing. I have goals now, things I want to do, but I don't have a timetable."

Psyber (253) has posed:
When she finds her balance, Psyber switches to slowly swooshing around her in a lazy circle, mostly because he can't really do well when stationary, "Goals, huh? Knowing you, they're secret for now. Any of them involved February? Because I was hoping to take you out on the fourteenth to a nice dinner."

"And well. Normal is relative," Psyber declares to her, thinking it over, "Sometimes not being normal makes you a better person. I've done a lot of things I regret, but... in the end it made me who I am. And who you are. And I like both those people." Half of that last sentence is a lie.

Duet Fortuna (92) has posed:
Slowly, Duet eases up and tries to get some independence. Just like her. It's a bit of a large concession that she lingers close enough for Psyber to help if she slips, though. She isn't trying to go off alone immediately, at least.

She laughs, "I just told you, I have no hard timetable!" Flashing a smile, she tilts her head to take a look. "Not really secret... just haven't worked everything out yet. I may wing it a bit! I think I'd like to do something different. Maybe get a vehicle again to see the Multiverse in."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Knowing enough about her, he's never too far, but when she tries to get her independence, he backs off a bit and skates more at her side. He smiles cheerily and says, "Now you're getting it. You're a natch."

"Well, whatever your plans are, don't forget. National holiday in two weeks, don't forget to go shopping for people now that you're an 'American'," Psyber muses as he slides alongside her with his skates, "And... don't forget to just enjoy life. We're going out for coffee and cinnamon rolls after this, by the way."

Duet Fortuna (92) has posed:
"I have been Christmas shopping before," Duet points out, wobbling a little. Her natural balance makes it easy for her to stay upright after some practice, though she's not going to be doing tricks any time this trip. "This one just has more cards and less leather involved."

    That's... good?
Duet laughs then, flashing one of her more and more common smiles. "I /am/ enjoying it. Going easy on matters."

Psyber (253) has posed:
Whenever she wobbles, it shows that he's a bit protective as he prepares to catch her. But overall, he's good about giving her space to learn. He slides along the ice easily, "You know when I did ops in Russia during World War II, I had to hunt lake monsters in ice skates." This might be a tall tale.

"I'm still picking your present," He notes, folding his hands behind his back briefly. He swooshes lightly, "I considered asking for a kiss, but it felt tacky and cheesey. I'll figure out something for you, though. Gonna be hard to top whoever gave you that pistol."

Duet Fortuna (92) has posed:
"Did you, now?" Duet smiles in reply, daring to try a slow turn around. She's not rushing it, so she manages that and skates backward slowly. "That sounds interesting. I can't say I've dealt with many lake monsters."

Ah, presents. "I'm sure I can find something fitting for you," Duet replies with... a faint blush. "As for me... I have my likes aside from pistols. I'm sure you can figure something out."

Psyber (253) has posed:
"They're rare nowadays. Not like sea monsters, with lots of places to hide. Lake monsters, the hostile ones, mostly got fished out and dealt with by Hunters," Psyber explains in a brief history lesson, considering it, "Like most dragons. Anything that makes its presence too much of a threat, the natural ecosystem eventually handles."

He muses on this for a bit, "I'm pretty sure I can figure something out for you, yeah. Every day mundane girls are easy to shop for."
