Cast of Characters: 272, 300

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
Wherever Rick is, currently working, asleep, relaxing, or practicing his shots -- a mysterious package arrives, simply appearing into being -- who could it be from?

THe package is smaller than a loaf of bread. It is wrapped in blue foil paper with red sparkles on it, and desert digital camo ribbon. THe box does not appear to be rigged to explode, and when shaken there's a tinkling akin to a jingle bell inside.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
Richard Stadler sat at the desk in his living room, newspapers spread out over it as a protection from what he was working on. The odd weapon (perhaps not odd in it's look, just something he hadn't expected to see in a world) lay on it, showing the need for the protection by the way it left rust and aged wood, grease and deterius. Certainly, Fleece may have been able to make more of it they he did, but skills that went unpracticed atrophied, and everyone needs a hobby.

The fact that he was still signing a form with one hand occassionally showed he was mixing pastimes. It's in one of his look to the left that he happens to see the package, balanced on the ledge his balcony.

He paused for a moment, sighing slightly, pulling open the draw next to him, rustling through pens and paper, before pulling out the Smith and Wesson Model 410. A cursory glance at the chamber as he pulled back the slide to chamber a round, before the desk drawer slammed shut. Balcony window open , tenative views around, sweeping back and up to the rook with the pistol pointed up. No sniper then. Oh, certainly, there were a few places. And he knew about them all.

A grip of the package, a little shake for the bell, and then he's back in the house. Clip out, slide locked back, slide sent forward, round back in the clip, clip back in the pistol, pistol back in the drawer. Leaning forward to observe the box, before gently pulling on the ribbion, and working over the paper.

It was good paper. Damn shame to throw it away after.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
Luckily, the paper was secured with regular, run-of-the-mill scotch tape -- it lifts pretty easily.

A little note falls off as the paper is pulled away, flittering to the floor. Its neat, precise scrawl is unmistakably Yunomi's.

    'Dad,

No matter how the years pass, no matter how many leaves fall or flowers bloom, there will always be a place in my heart for you. I think it's right next to the place where I love Ice Cream! (Tanuki smiley face) With Love,

    Yunomi'

And the box is there! The box's cardboard is done up a bit like a shoebox. Its cardboard is sky blue, and the jingling comes from inside of it.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
The flick of a swiss army knife, tape removes with careful percision, before he looks down, bending to the left to pick it up. And reading the note. "Well, isn't that sweet!" He says, smiling to himself for a moment. "Always cute. And just because-" He stops, face freezing, before he moves over to the desk calinder he clearly isn't using. "June 16th, 17th, 18th- god /damn/ it." He mutters. How in the /hell/ do you forget Father's day. He was goddamn fifty. He was scrambling to the phone (it was only a day after) but stopped. "Priorities." He said to himself, before sitting down and flipping open the cardboard box, opening the jingling. That would require more than a vacation day to fix, but he hadn't been to Michigan in some time. Be good to see the folks, even if it /was/ in difference for forgetting to send a card.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
    YEah, Dad! Priorities!

Inside the box was... ANOTHER BOX. Wrapped in bright green paper with little autumn leaves flying around it. The box feels a bit heavier for some reason; and it juuust barely slides out of the previous box.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
Well, someone was practicing wrapping paper. And new wrapping paper. He tilts the blue box up to pop it on the desk, and hefts it. Was it heavier? Or just more dense? Hard to tell! Still, he slipped the knife over the tap again, removing the next set of paper, and laying it down on the blue foil, before opening the next box.

A part of him would not be shocked if the gift was simply smaller and smaller boxes.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
There is, indeed, another box inside the box, this one wrapped with bright pink foil with zebra stripes on it.

This box, suspiciously, is the same size as the last box -- but is three inches /deeper/ when it's pulled out.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
Another box slipped out. And then more tape... before trying to place it back in the box it came in. Then sighing, lifting his glasses up to rub the bridge of his nose. "Could have adopted some war orphan, but no, you had to pick the prankster." A pause. "Ehh. Not like I'm a physicist. And you know it beats the alternative of a /boring/ daughter." He muses, slipping the paper aside and opening the next box.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
THe next box's wrapping paper is bright metallic green! This box does not jingle. It moos when tilted to the left, and then releases a soft foghorn noise when tilted to the right. This box is additionally /ten/ inches deeper than the last.

Someone's been having a lot of fun.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
Knife comes out, flipflip- Oh, come on. He picks it up and examines it closely. "I suppose I /could/ smash you. Get to the bottom of this, and all that, but I'm afraid with all the violation of the laws that keep me sane, you'll simply take out the block." He says to the box, tilting it to the left. MOOOOOOOO. "I'd thought you'd say that. Goddamn /foot/." he says ,before opening /it/ up.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
Inside there is an awful lot of tissue paper! NO MORE BOXES!

At the bottom of this one foot and a half deep box, there was simply a stick of deoderent/antiperspirant -- Old Spice.

It has a sticky note on it

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
The sticky note simply says: "Look out the window" with another tanuki smiley face on it.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
Tissue paper. Tissue paper... More damned tissue paper. How much was in here? Oh, there better be something inside it. Flicking the box over the desk, and shaking it, before something thunks out. Oh, deoderant. "She does know my brand-" He says, before reading the sticky note. "You know, if those boxes were filled with something else, this could be a damned horror movie.

Drawer is opened... drawer is closed. Really, he should still get the gun out, but he didn't suppose he wanted to see his daughter looking at him with an automatic in his hand. SO instead he gets up, to the balcony, and peers out.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
Outside, the parking area below has been temporarily transformed. A few folks are scratching their heads, some are saying that 'those crazy kids must be at it again'.

THe street has been turned into a garden, bright flowers of impossible blue and green hues stand out against the normal green foliage.

"HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! OPEN THE STICK!"

Yunomi must be somewhere nearby, laughing.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
You know, he thought. If someone was going to start a scavenger hunt, normally they made you go about town for it, instead of changing the laws of physics where you were. Oh, well. Again, it certainly wasn't boring. Though, really, where was she? Certainly not at any of the sniper perches. He peered out the window at a somewhat suspicious dog. Really wouldn't know /where/ she was, would he? Only way out is through! Popping open the stick, removing the cap.

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
It is not actually a stick of deoderant! What a lousy father's day gift!

No, inside the stick there is ANOTHER BOX...

No just kidding, there's a large puff of sparkles, and a plate of perfectly normal, bakery-sourced cupcakes appears in lieu of the stick, along with a gift certificate for Crabfest, the all-you-can-stand Seafood Fest nearby.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
He /had/ sticks of Deoderant. It was litterally a dollar fifty down at the local supermarket. I mean there was the generic stuff, but a man had to have /standards/- Oh damn!

He backed away quickly as the plate of cupcakes clangs and ringes aganist the desk. "Oh." He says, before picking one up and munching on it, while observing thegift certificate. "Well, /that's/ thoughtful." He says, finishing one (one!) off, and picking up the plate, moves the rest into the kitchen to saran wrap. Why not spread the things out? "And I think I know who I have to take." He says, another smile on his face. And it turns rueful. "If I can find her, that is. Suppose it would be in poor sport to order a sattilette pass...

And a minute later, he's searching for heat signatures from one of the few sats in orbit. "Then again, I can't shape shift."

Yunomi Stadler (272) has posed:
Yunomi is actually nowhere near by. And any tracer he has on his daughter would alert him she's right where she's supposed to be -- in Ravnica, in Nivix, in her workshop. And probably laughing.

Richard Stadler (300) has posed:
Perhaps the proudest things was not the grasp of magic, but the planning. One box, another box, flowers... all /remotely/. Marevelous. And he was beaming at that. Oh, certainly, she could have spoofed the trackers, but that would lead to the same thing. And that was just grand!

Well, now that was one priority. Now for the next. Phone's picked up, and a number is dialed. "Ahh. Hey, Dad. It's Rick. You can- yes, I know. You know. Work. Look, I thought I'd make it up to you and Mom. What are you doing this weekend?"
