- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
Roy Torres has not been having a very good day.
There's a burst of light from the warpgate, and out he comes. Tall, mid-thirties, spectacles, and what had been a suit - he's lost the jacket, and the shirt beneath is stained with blood. He's stumbling, panicked. The peaceful and serene nature of the surrounding area ... does not seem to calm him at all.
The little black box he has in his hand fizzes and burps. Some sort of new communication device - new to his world at least - which is supposed to put out messages far and wide. He's desperate, and indiscriminate, as he stumbles his way towards the treeline.
"Please, someone help me! My name is Roy Torres, I'm a journalist, I just made it to warpgate coordinates sixteen eighty four, and, she's going to kill me, help!"
Thankfully for Mr. Torres, his luck seems to be on the turn. He's almost at the treeline by the time the warpgate flashes again, and Thirteen comes walking through. She's got a bloodied cricket bat on her shoulder, and is smiling from ear to ear. She is also fairly splattered with blood - but she, at least, seems in good spirits!
- Rose Quartz (1017) has posed:
Through the air she soars, leaping with the grace of a... Well there's nothing quite like seeing a near ten-foot curvy woman leaping through the air. She'd been taking to exploring this strange new world she'd found herself in, and the man's cries for help found her altering her trajectory. She flutters down towards the ground, feet touching lightly on the turf. "Hello there." she says warmly. "Is everything alright?"
- Anne Blakely (983) has posed:
Anne is nearby mostly out of convenience. She wasn't that far off to begin with, but the distress call got her curious, you know? So she was just moseying over for a looksee, carrying an ice cream cone. On this day, she's not dressed in her usual outfit, instead wearing a loose white sundress and a broad hat for shade, with a cute bow in it. A pair of sunglasses watches the whole assassination ongoing, making no move to help or hinder yet. Thirteen seems to have it nicely in hand.
- Alden (930) has posed:
Alden appears!, he is not particularly graceful, the garurumon making his way to the coordinates of the distress call, as quickly as his big paws can take him!. A rather small humanoid girl with cat ears and tail seems to be riding atop his head, holding onto one ear as he rushes there. He skids to a halt on he gets close enough, trying his best not to look menacing.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
About two minutes after the call goes out... something BURNS in the skies and it's not the sun. Possibly a meteor? Whatever it is... it's coming in fast, and that means that it's coming in HOT.
It's so high up though... that it might not be noticed. And since it's traveling far faster than the speed of sound... its approach is effectively silent. BRIGHT, but quiet.
As it nears the fields - relatively speaking - the burning hunk of SOMETHING ... FIRES RETRO ROCKETS and slows dramatically. At speeds that would simply be too dangerous for anything human to endure, that's for certain.
Those G-Forces should be enough to splatter most things biological.
As it does finally slow to a hovering pace... two things are made obvious. The first is the roaring, cracking, thunderous sound of its passage that finally catches up. A SONIC BOOM heralds its appearance for anyone who hadn't already noticed it... though thankfully from far enough away as to sound like strange thunder... and not blow out eardrums.
The second... is that its shape is revealed. It's a gleaming ship the size of... well... a large submarine? It certainly has room to host dozens of people inside if it needed to. The shape is streamlined and there are nothing that look like windows. The hull is mostly seamless and still glowing in places from the heated entry. Some sensory equipment emerges from panels that didn't seem to exist previously and do an active sweep of the area...
- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
Roy looks, well, frankly, even more terrified at the arrival of a near-ten-foot-tall woman from the skies above. "Am I alright?!" He repeats, incredulously, "No! She, she killed my source, and now she's going to kill me!" He points, gesturing frantically at Thirteen who ... does not seem too perturbed.
She does slow down a bit as something that looks for all the world like a wild animal, but in tie-dye colours, turns up. One eyebrow raises, and she starts to twirl the bat. Anne, too, gets a brief glance. Civilian with an ice cream cone. Nothing to worry about there.
"Okay!" She announces, an unmistakable london twang in her accent. "Let's get this over with quick--"
Then, suddenly, the sonic boom thunders in the area and the spaceship touches down. Thirteen raises her free hand to her ear, using her pinkie finger to - briefly - clean out the inside as Roy now cowers right behind Rose Quartz.
"As I was saying." She repeats, louder, this time. "Let's not piss about. I ain't got a reason to kill the rest of you, so hand him over, I'll crack his skull, and we'll all be home in time for tea."
- Rose Quartz (1017) has posed:
"Don't worry little one." she says with a smile, patting his head. "Just run along and I'll handle things here." she says. She turns back to Thirteen, eyes scanning the other new arrivals. Plans begin to formulate in her mind as she turns towards Thirteen. "I'm terribly sorry, but could I convince you to let the small human go? He's not all that important, and surely you've got better things to do."
- Alden (930) has posed:
Alden needs a vehicle, hard to be all heroic and cool when all people see is a tye died wolf creature with oversized paws stumbling their way, with a tiny girl perched on his head!. The fact he almost stumbles trying to stop does not help!, "Came here as soon as I would." he mumbles, doing his best to avoid panting. Meanwhile the tiny girl on the wolf's head waves a few times, and looks up at Rose, "You are huge!, hi!" she says happily, "I'm Katze, and this is Alden, he's my ride.". "I'm not your ride!" comes from the digimon. Both focus on what appears to be the source of... the issue tho, "There is no need to cause trouble." he says.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
About five seconds after Thirteen's casual talk of murder... the spaceship reacts.
All across its surface... ports ripple into existence as smart metal parts and what look like WEAPON BARRELS on swiveling joints - extremely thin and minimalist designs, at that - snap out and lock into place instead. The air around it ripples... and near the back bottom, the cargo doors open partially. Two ENORMOUS robotic THINGS drop, each the size of a half-grown elephant. They're... robots of some sort, walking on six piston legs. They don't look terribly threatening beyond the possibly of them bowling into someone with enough force to pulp bone, if they could get enough speed going. They don't appear to be armed.
But then, neither did the ship.
A third thing flies out, this one appearing rather like a giant robotic dragonfly with turbofans embedded in the great spread wings to hold it aloft. It's swooping down towards the journalist...
- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
Thirteen cocks her head to the side, and waves expansively with her free hand, as the ship above her apparently engages weapons stations. She doesn't seem overly concerned about that. Even when the massive robots drop to the ground. Frankly, when you open with 'giant spaceship', 'giant' and 'unknown blue animal + friend' it is hard to ramp up the weirdness levels further.
"How can you possible know that?" She asks of Rose. Roy, though? He ... does not need to be told to run away twice. He returns to his sprint, fleeing through the forest at top speed, and that gets an aggravated sigh from Thirteen.
"Bloody hell, you can talk?" She asks Alden, "I was NOT expecting -- you know what, fuck it, doesn't matter. Get the kid out of here before something unfortunate happens."
And, well, that's that - the target is running, and there's people in the way now. She can't afford to lose him, so Thirteen just barrels right towards the group - looking for all the world like she intends to attack.
In actual fact, her aim is to dash right through the middle and hurl her bat at the robot moving towards Roy - either it is going to extract him (which would be awful) or kill him (which would be annoying). She doesn't like either option, so here's hoping it is more fragile than it looks.
- Rose Quartz (1017) has posed:
Gesturing towards Thirteen, Rose Quartz flicks a few droplets of liquid towards the rather bloodthirsty woman. The grass beneath her feet begins to twist up around her. It's quite enthusiastic, as it attempts to twine about her legs and feet to hamper her movements. The Green begins to shift and move under her influence, bending towards the bloody babe. It's unlikely to do much damage, but with any luck it will slow her down and foul her aim.
"I think you need to calm down a little bit. You seem awfully tense. It's not good for humans like you to be so stressed."
- Anne Blakely (983) has posed:
Truth be told, this is less than ideal for Anne. She prefers dead things over living, in terms of things she can use her powers upon. The odd arrangement is curious to her, though... and once again, she sees robotic minions instead of the kind she usually makes. Interesting. And from an airship, no less.
"Fetch," she says lightly. She isn't able to bring her full capabilities to bear, but there's enough fallen wood and the like to lift up with a gesture of her fingers, assembling into two primitive, squat puppets animated by magic. These two shamble toward the robot nearest to Roy, moving to tackle the construct, even while Thirteen's bat is soaring toward it.
Anne licks her ice cream cone, seeming unconcerned that she's suddenly made herself a 'target' to the do-gooders.
- Alden (930) has posed:
Alden opens his maw top speak, before the tiny 'girl' atop of him stands up, "I'm not a kid!, I'm battle robot!" she calls, before jumping down. Suddenly, out of nowhere, she seems to summon some kind of battle armor!, one of the arms is replaced by a drill, and she gets a helmet and chest piece. It would perhaps be intimidating, if she was not the size of... a tall action figure. Even the suddenly appearing floating drones are too cute to be menacing. Still, one has to give her points for trying. Alden grumbles something about 'don't show off'. Still, he guesses there is no harm on that.
The digimon perks his ears as he ses the tall... human?... humanoid?, control the plants, ears perked, and figures everything is under control, at least on that side. The movement from the 'puppets' catches his attention tho, quickly turning around and moving to rush at them, "Watch out!" he barks as a warning, even as he tries to tackle one of the two.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
The bat CLUNKS itself into one of the turbofans and the Dragonfly Drone starts tumbling in an out-of-control spiral for the ground. A haphazard attempt to dodge... was simply two slow.
It doesn't explode dramatically on landing. It's just sort of stuck there, sparking and scrambling to dislodge the bat that's jammed into its turbofan blades.
The 'Dwarves' on the other hand... show that they are indeed more than just there for show.
They unfold large panels that look like... SPEAKERS?
KRKKKKRKOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!
Rory White has studied the Elites of the Multiverse. She is aware of how tough, how fast, how insanely lucky, and how just plain determined they can be in the face of adversity. She has largely stopped using bullets, clubs, lasers, and other things that can be dodged, deflected, or easily shielded against. Elites have proven to be VERY GOOD at dealing with such things.
... So for today, her weapon of choice is SOUND.
Intense infrasound pulses that shake and rattle the body, mixed with an earsplitting, agonizing noise that would make most people feel like their brains are ON FIRE and SCREAMING TO LEAP OUT THEIR EARS. It's a searing, awful pain and enough pure sound to potentially shatter eardrums, scramble the inner ears and all sense of balance...
... A very clear statement of THOU SHALT NOT PASS.
- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
Thirteen finds herself hampered by the local plantlife which - honestly - was not what she was expecting from the large pink woman. She looked more like a physical bruiser to her inexpert eye, and she grunts with annoyance as she's forced to slow.
"Making a lot of assumptions there, Pinky." She says, producing from her pocket a switchblade which flicks into being. She handles it well, shearing away the plantlife from around her legs in a few harsh motions, and she starts to walk towards Rose with plain murder in her eyes - before, she'd been annoyed. Now? She's actively angry.
It is nice to see she's getting support from the girl with the ice cream, though. She'll have to remember to try and figure out why later.
Only, she almost immediately has something else to worry about. "Let's see if you're the same colour on the inside." Thirteen growls, only-- suddenly, she's hit by a wave of intense pain. Her eardrums burst. Her teeth rattle. Blood flows freely from her ears and nose.
That's... that's a lot of blood. It should probably have stopped by now shouldn't it?
- Anne Blakely (983) has posed:
Anne is... watching! Yes, still. She frowns as Alden crashes into the puppet, snapping two limbs and bearing it to the ground. The other one does as ordered, and starts to drag the damaged robot toward Anne. She lets it follow that simple order while she handles the other.
"Hm... you look familiar," she mutters to herself. The pieces of the puppet Alden smashed lift up and reconnect, snapping together to reform and try to hurl the digimon away... but the snapped branches and debris don't make as good a puppet as before. She can reanimate it, but it's less efficient and mobile each time.
- Rose Quartz (1017) has posed:
Perhaps she wasn't a target, but as Rose Quartz was about to step forward to engage Thirteen, that NOISE comes first. That awful, soul-rending, ear-gouging NOISE. She looks at Rory's machines with newfound respect, taking a step back to cover the approach to the journalist. "Go ahead and grab him again. I'll cover you this time." she says.
Then her attention is grabbed by Alden and... Is that a very tiny girl? Good lord, she's so small! She's surely going to hurt herself, trying to fight amidst real warriors. Reaching out, Rose Quartz encases her in a protective bubble of pink film, seemingly fragile, but quite tough. "There, all safe." she says. Anne she hasn't given much attention to yet.
- Alden (930) has posed:
The digimon was busy with the puppet!, as it reformed, he opens his maw to try the good old 'burn it until it stops being a problem' solution, but the sudden onslaught of NOISE on a creatuer with sharp ears?. Well, he is lucky he handles damage not... quite most living beings, but still, he ends up dissoriented and stumbling against the puppet. On the good side, it means he still keeps it distracted, on the bad side, he is not able to focus on the other one!.
Katze meanwhile, was being ignored, and she was getting a bit miffed, the small girl, with a drill for an arm and a large (for her size) cat paw shaped gauntlet/shield takes a step forward, when first the noise, and then... a bubble? seem to impede her, "What's this?" she asks, poking at the pink firlm with the glove, and tappign it a few times. "Hey, let me out!" she tries. The tiny drones around her all shoot tiny lasers, but well, given her size, they are not particularly dangerous. Even the one that looks like a tank and has the biggest cannon. She tries drilling the wall as well!. "I'm not a little kid!" she protests. Of course, she is not sure what she might do once free, but she will burn that bridge when she gets to it, or something like that.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
The Dragonfly Morph has managed to dislodge the bat, but its turbofan blades are bent beyond what field repairs can do. It remains grounded for now. Useless.
In short order, the MEGASPEAKERS Rory's Drones deployed are shorting out. They were not designed to operate at such intensities - even the highly advanced Transhuman tech cannot handle that much power. The noise dies down to a dull buzz, the speakers smoking...
The Cargo bay doors open again, and this time what looks like a TABLE ON WHEELS with a human torso at the front comes tumbling out, only to fire retro rockets and make its way towards Roy.
Meanwhile... every single weapon on the ship remains trained on Thirteen.
But why aren't they firing?
- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
Thirteen's head is still ringing, and the woman starts to chuckle. The switchblade dances between her fingers. Okay. Bright pink giant with bubbles and plant control might not be a standard target, but she's pissed now.
"Don't know if you can hear me, boss." She mutters, "But if you're monitoring the situation, I just want you to know, I'm not leaving until I've got a pound of flesh. At least."
Now that the noise has ceased, Thirteen cracks her neck. The blood flow stops, her back straightens, her balance restored by her decidedly inhuman physiology... and she lunges. There's no subtly in her movement - Rose is a big target! She aims to wrap her arm around the taller woman's throat, and use that as leverage to begin stabbing her with the knife, over and over and over again.
On the plus side, this means that Thirteen is not making any effort to go after Roy right now - though the journalist does not look entirely comfortable with the machine blasted right at him. Nor is Thirteen too worried about the girl who is loudly insisting that she ought to be taken seriously.
On the downside, well, she's making a very spirited attempt to shank Rose as much as possible. And she's good at shanking. She's had a lot of practice.
- Rose Quartz (1017) has posed:
And that practice serves her well. Rose gets grabbed. And Rose gets shanked. Repeatedly. Something odd though... The woman doesn't bleed at all. Not even a tiny dribble of life-blood drips from the numerous stab wounds that tear her dress. And neither does the arm around her throat appear to discommode her very much! While the stabs do hurt, Rose has a very good judge of when she's had enough. A ripple goes through her body as she shapeshifts away from Thirteen like a slime, coming up with a straight bladed saber and a large shield. "That actually hurt. I'm impressed!" she says giddily.
- Alden (930) has posed:
Alden thankfully was not there to see what was going on, or he might have snapped in a rather... harsh way. He was busy trying to stop the world from spinning, and his ears from screaming ot his brain, and thankfully, they do. He decides to destroy the puppets for good measure. He tries that by blasting them with fire, and good old jaw strength.
Meanwhile, Katze panics as the well intentioned... woman?, is shanked repeatedly, letting out a soft gasp, her shock turning into surprise and awe as... the rather large woman seems to melt away and reform with... weapons?. All her attempts to burst out of the bubble stop as she just stares at Rose, she is sure no one will beleive her, even if she showed the recordings.
- Anne Blakely (983) has posed:
Well, as long as her puppet is still dragging that robot away, Anne could care less. Roy being killed is not really important to her, except so far as Thirteen seems more interesting than her nominal enemies.
Unfortunately the other puppet, despite a struggle, is torn up rather easily. Anne herself is staying well out of this, and sighs heavily. "Bother. The only good materials are the wreck that I want to study. A terrible place, this is."
- Rory White (673) has posed:
The Doctor Bot lands. It's... it's like someone designed a table and a person with many robotic arms and sort of fused them onto a wheeled apparatus. In fact, it looks much like a surgical operating table, but at the moment all of those possible extensions are folded away and disabled.
The good thing is, the (largely featureless face) is capable of speech. A girl's voice, in fact. "I know it doesn't look very appealing, but if you get in and strap down, I can get you out of here. I doubt that woman can fly very well. I'm Rory White of the Argonauts, and NOBODY is going to harm a journalist on my watch! Please, come aboard!"
The Doctor Bot continues zooming over the land towards Roy...
- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
There's a vicious, visceral hiss of pleasure as the knife sinks in and, then some confusion as she fails to get the screaming, bleeding, dying parts that she usually likes so much. Thirteen is left even more pissed off as Rose literally slips between her fingers, and comes back into being with a shield and a sword.
Closing the gap as quick as she can, Thirteen stabs and slashes at Rose, having to duck and twist to try and get in around that shield. "What even ARE you?" She demands, and it is as she's doing this that she catches sight of Roy...
Who is now frantically buckling himself into place, "Whatever, whatever! It has to be better than what SHE would do to me, just, get me out of here!"
"Oh NO you bloody don't!"
Thirteen's voice raises as she risks looking away from Rose to try and see if Anne is still there. Good. She is. "Oi! Whoever you are! Stop that robot and there's another ice cream cone in it for you!"
Bribery has to be worth a shot, right?
- Anne Blakely (983) has posed:
The problem is that Anne is not so good at dealing with living things... at least not in the direct manner. She hates direct confrontations, after all... but she's not helpless when it comes to that. Anne sighs, "It'll take more than an ice cream cone to hire me..." Then she swallows the last bite, and makes a wide gesture, flexing fingers with a murmured incantation. The ground beneath the doctor bot softens to a thick, soupy mud to try fouling the wheels and slow it down.
And just for good measure? She whips out what looks like a flintlock pistol, levelling it at the robot and firing it with a loud BOOM! The bullet... hits a lot harder than lead should, if it hits. She only gets one shot off, though the pistol is at least a breech-loader, and immediately the wheel on the side turns and pops open the back, automated systems loading another bullet.
- Rose Quartz (1017) has posed:
Rose Quartz has to make a choice between her personal safety and the safety of the man getting hauled off. With a vicious swipe of her sword she drives Thirteen back for a crucial second... She uses that second to throw her shield as hard as she can. A resounding sound like a church bell enchoes as the bullet hits the shield dead center, cracking it slightly. This leaves Rose open to several crucial slashes from Thirteen's weapons, driving her back into a defensive posture, great gaping slashes pulsing slightly along her body. "Is that all you've got?" she pants, catching her shield. Eyes darting around, she spots a patch of poison ivy that hasn't been trimmed yet. Scooping it up, she heaves it desperately towards Thirteen. "GROW!" she commands it. And suddenly there's a very large, very angry looking Poison Ivy Monster coming in for a hug, spraying its oils towards Thirteen.
- Alden (930) has posed:
Alden finally has a chance to see what the others are doing and sweet lord Azulongmon what is going on?. He just... watches Rose get stabbed! and seemingly, shrug off several attacks, while throwing a shield, captain america style, to intercept a shot!. He really feels a bit out of of league. At least this time he does catch sight of the source of the bullet, and tries returning fire!. "Ice Cannon!". He opens his muzzle as a large ice projectile quickly forms, and is launched towards teh seemingly human target. Since he... really does not know if Anne can take a hit or not, it is more of a 'warning shot', aimed down at her feet, hoping to distract her perhaps. He also begins to run towards the 'human', trying to prevent further shooting.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
"Alright. Hold on! And hope that madwoman doesn't interfere!" Once Roy has strapped himself in... the mini-thrusters begin to fire again! But just as the force builds enough to begin lifting it a foot--
BANG!
A bullet goes right through the table... and apparently cleaves something important. There's no serious explosion, but the thrusters sputter and a safety mechanism cuts in, aborting the launch and deeming them too damaged to be safely used.
Less visually impressive than perhaps desired.
Meanwhile, the Dragonfly that's being dragged off struggles, its many legs bapping and smacking to little avail. The Turbofan wings activate as it tries to protest being hauled off too easily.
"... moving on to Plan B. Unstrap and keep running, I'm bringing the ship down!"
A thousand feet up, the hovering COGNIZANT ODYSSEY's weapons swivel until all of them are trained on... Anne Blakely.
Ship-grade weapons, turned on infantry, is going to mean one hell of a thing to deal with. Railguns scream shots down from the heavens, each impact hitting enough with kinetic force to throw huge plumes of dirt skyward!
Whether or not Anne ends up STRUCk by any... it's going to be hellishly hard to fire through all of that dirt and debris and NOISE.
But the Odyssey's thrusters fire up to active again, and the great ship starts lowering and making a move to land right up against the trees. As it's doing it...
SOMETHING deploys from the Cargo Bay. It's...
It's a young woman? Except in skintight armor, and short blue hair. Her soft-featured face is currently... utterly emotionless, and with Rory that probably means one of two things: INSANELY ANGRY or EXTREMELY FOCUSED.
Whatever the case might be, she's wielding what looks like some kind of energy rifle. "Hurry!"
- Thirteen (1013) has posed:
As Rory enters a desperate stage of her rescue operation, Roy helps by gibbering and trying to get his legs to work. He's only partly successful, practically tripping and falling over himself in increased panic as the whole world seems to go insane.
Thirteen, though, finally has a target she can make sense of. The hideous, poison ivy monstrosity is a creature with enough similarities to those in her own world that she actually smiles as it bears down on her, feeling as though she's on solid ground.
That's nice. That's the first thing that has made sense since the pink-haired woman turned up!
Thirteen jumps right in to meet it, switchblade whirling like some kind of horrendous hedge-trimmer. She's not coming off well; the contact poison (presumably augmented by the growth command as well) has her skin blistering unpleasantly, but as much as it soaks in and the monster tears at her, she's really using the opportunity to vent her frustration at the constant impediments to reaching her target!
Which means that Rose herself is entirely free to act - or at least, Thirteen isn't trying to kill her right now.
- Anne Blakely (983) has posed:
Ice forms around Anne's feet, and she gets an annoyed look. Also probably frostbite. Yanking her feet free is a chore... but not as much as the problems she's about to have.
"Oh. Wonderful."
Fortunately, Anne has some ability to form barriers, so the barrage from the ship mostly gets deflected around her. Size matters not, really. But when the smoke clears, she's coughing lightly and nursing one arm, which is bloodied and splintered with a compound fracture. Rather than howling in pain, she snaps it back into place with just a wince... though she doesn't appear to have any super healing, unfortunately.
This could be a problem with Alden barrelling down upon her and crashing into her, and to that she DOES cry out, and not just because her hat tumbles away. "Get off me you..." A pause. "... unnatural projection!"
Anne is a creature of clockworks and analog, so the digital creature is confusing to her.
Nonetheless, a spring-loaded blade erupts from her good arm's sleeve, trying to stab Alden. Anne is not so great in hand to hand combat, but she's not helpless.
- Rory White (673) has posed:
Rory White's Flexbot - which vaguely resembles humanity enough to be comfortingly familiar, if a bit uncanny - rushes across the field to Roy. She'll help him up... or even carry him outright if that seems fastest. The Odyssey touches down in a somewhat lopsided angle on the uneven ground, and she's making a beeline for it with Roy...
"If we can just get into the ship, there'll be no way for them to follow!"
