A Fanboy and his Blobby Robot Arrives
Date of Scene: 11 August 2016
Location: New York-199999
Synopsis: Hiro Hamada decides to get an audience with Tony Stark, but runs into some hitches before he catches a break.
Cast of Characters: 1029, 20

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"Hiro. I do not understand what a 'fanboy' is. Are you hot? Perhaps a cool and refreshing beverage will make you feel better."

The big fluffy care companion that is known as Baymax waddles along behind the young hoodie clad teen that's almost a clear three feet in front of him as he rushes through the doors of the illustrious and awesome STARK TOWER.

"... Oh. My. God." Hiro's voice might as well be lifting him off his feet as he comes to a personally activated halt of the silent screeching variety. His eyes get bigger (if that's even possible) as he looks up and around at the glorious sight that he beholds. "I can't believe I'm actually standing in Stark Tower. Somebody pinch me."

It takes Baymax a moment to actually catch up to Hiro but upon Hiro's request he reaches out and squeezes his balloony fingers against Hiro's arm. Nothing happens. Repeatedly.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Stark Tower is bustling with activity as usual, with people walking to and fro in the lobby whether they're heading to or from a meeting, some are employees and others are visitors. Most of them are wearing fancy suits however, stating that this is no place where casual wear is usually worn by most people. As it is, Hiro stands out a fair bit, and he would even if he wasn't accompanied by a lage walking marshmallowish robot.

Perhaps that is the reason why the lady behind the reception desk is giving Hiro such a stern look, as if silently questioning what he is doing here. She doesn't stop her typing at her computer however, instead she just watches Hiro and his medical companion until they come close to her desk. At that moment she will speak up in a semi-bored tone. "... can I help you, ... Sir?" Strangely enough she doesn't sound like she's exactly eager to help him.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
Hiro is already leaping up onto the desk and flashing the biggest smile that he can muster up on such short notice. A smile that is equal parts adorable and TRUST ME. He's just trying to lay on the charm. Because charm is his super power. Or something. "Hey there. Hiro Hamada, Boy Genius. I'm pretty sure you've heard of me. Mr. Stark is totally expecting me. We got big things to talk about. Big science things, y'know how us geniuses are, right? Right. So! I'll just mosey on up and you can keep that keystrokes per minute count as high as the sky. Later!"

Hiro is almost sure that's not going to work but he's not sticking around long enough to find out. He drops back down off the desk, snatches Baymax by the arm and makes a break for the nearest elevators! For SCIENCE!

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
At that claim the receptionist only arches an eyebrow. "Mr. Stark is not in today, nor do I have anybody by that name on his list of appointments... Mr. Hamad-- HEY!"

She sits up straighter when Hiro heads towards the elevators. Perhaps that's when he notices the security guards who are approaching, and should he make it to the elevator... he will also learn that it's keycard operated. With no chance of ever making it up to the floors above. "Step out of the elevator, kid," one of the guards tell him as he approaches. But before he has a chance to close in on the boy, a voice speaks up from the entrance.

"So who did you piss off today...?"

The person who walks through the door is about Hiro's age, though she walks as if she owns the place. Even if she's dressed casually, wearing pants that cut off right below the knee as well as a girly top with a bunny print on it. The receptionist blinks, looking a bit startled for a moment before she gathers her wits and speaks up. "Miss Beifong, this boy was--" She is cut off however as the girl sighs and waves her hand, not looking too bothered nor concerned with whatever the receptionist might have to say. "Yeah, I get the gist... I'll handle it." The security guards back off, glancing at each other as the girl walks up to Hiro and Baymax. Strangely enough she looks Asian, however her eyes are a milky green as she doesn't seem to 'look' at the two of them. "So who are you, and what are you doing here? Most people don't try to /that/ obvious about sneaking in," she states, crossing her arms in front of her torso.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
Baymax waves his marshmallow-y hand in the direction of Toph and pretty much every security officer that's in the place. He's friendly. He can't help it. "Hi, I am Baymax." "Hi, I am Baymax." "Hi, I am Baymax." Yeah, that's going to go on for a while.

Hiro, on the other hand, is in a state of not being able to go anywhere. He slumps the moment he realizes that there's no way to go up without actually having a keycard. He could probably try to hack the elevator but there's definitely no time for that. Not to mention that Baymax moves to slow to try any 'run for it' scenario. Instead, Hiro just continues to let his body slump and throws on the overdramatic sigh of a teenager that has been defeated.

    "I'm Hiro. This is Baymax."

    "Hi, I am Baymax..."

Hiro rubs a hand at the back of his neck and looks up to Toph. "I wasn't sneaking in. Well, not really. I just wanted to see Mr. Stark's lab. Because, y'know, it's Tony Stark!" Hiro lets the Pout of Adorableness out without even realizing it. "But I don't want any trouble. I guess I can make an appointment. For about thirty years from now. Because I know he's totally booked for like ever. And I wanted to show him Baymax!"

"I am a robot." Baymax offers this knowledge before turning back to the various people and waving and scanning every single one of them. Toph gets scanned too.

"Sooooo. Since I don't want to get arrested right now, I just uh-- I'll be on my way?" Hiro smiles. Here's to hoping that works so he can get out of here before he gets into more trouble.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The teenage girl and the guards listen to Hiro's explanation, not saying anything at first. Baymax does get a rather curious look from the guards however, and Toph arches an eyebrow. While she's unable to see the Pout of Adorableness, she does hear the tone of his voice, as well as how nothing he says disturbs his heartbeat or breathing.

"So... you're a fanboy," she concludes, then waves the guards off. "Get back to your posts or whatever." "But Miss Beifong, we-" "It's fine, I can handle this," she insists in a firm voice. They do as she says, though they do keep an eye on Hiro even as they walk back to their spots in the lobby. Toph herself doesn't see a reason to move away from the elevator though, instead she keeps the conversation going. "Even I can tell you're a robot... never ran into one that's so... balloony before though," she comments, reaching a hand out to poke Baymax in the belly. Then she gets to the point. "Lots of people want to see the lab, so we just can't let anybody do it though. Why do you wanna show off your robot anyway?" The girl looks a bit curious, and well... it seems like there are no police coming to arrest Hiro.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"Uh. Because showing Tony Stark my brother's life work is like the greatest idea in the history of mankind?" Hiro doesn't think he needs to add the 'Duh' because his tone is already there, five times over. "Annnnnd maybe I kinda' wanted to see if he had any job openings for lab assistants? I mean, I still have to graduate and all but that shouldn't take long. I always graduate early. It's kind of my thing."

Baymax's belly is poked with the utmost of ease and he doesn't even react. This likely has everything to do with the fact that he is a robot. "Goodbye. Goodbye. Goodbye." Each security officer that backs off gets a personal goodbye. Baymax has the best manners. Although, he does reach out for one by the shoulder, "Pardon me. Your cholesterol levels are significantly elevated. I would suggest a healthy alternative for lunch today. Perhaps, a salad. Goodbye."

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
The tone of Hiro's words does make Toph let out an amused snort. "So your brother made this robot, huh?" Though when Hiro right out asks for a job the girl does look rather amused. "You work with technology and stuff too? Do you build, research, or...?" Is this a book nerd or something?

For the most part she is ignoring Baymax as he says goodbye to the guards, but when he adresses one of them with medical advice she does look curious. "Wait... you just scanned him?" she asks, canting her head a bit as she steps forward, and this time she reaches out to place a hand on the big robot's arm, a look of concentration on her face.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"Yes. As a Personal Healthcare Companion it is my duty to scan everyone and assess their health and medical needs." Baymax's vinyl marshmallowness is on full display for Toph as she pays him some attention.

"Well, my brother built him first but things happened so I rebuilt him and now he's just as awesome!" Hiro grins and leans against Baymax as the robot unintentionally shows off. "So yeah, I guess you could say I dabble in the world of robotics a little bit. Y'know, just enough to be the youngest student at the San Fransokyo Institute of Technology. No big." Hiro can't stop grinning. Could have something to do with the fact that he's not going to jail or that Baymax may have just scored them a Golden Ticket to Starksville.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
It does look like the blind girl is paying more attention now as her earlier expression has been replaced with one of curiousity. And she keeps on prodding at Baymax, clearly trying to do /something/. "Man, why did your brother build him like this anyway...? The metal is so far in... Can you deflate yourself?"

So both brothers are tech geeks from the sound of it. Though when he states the name of a particular school the blind teen blinks and reaches a hand up to rub at her chin. "San Fransokyo...? Wait, you don't happen to know a girl on wheels? GoGo?" she asks.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"Yes. My deflation capabilities are fully operational. Would you like a demonstration?" Baymax is just so helpful.

Hiro reaches up to pat Baymax because it's both his best friend and his pride & joy. "Carbon Fiber. Awesome, right?" Hiro is all about the bragging when it comes to Baymax. "Baymax is designed to help people. So he needs to be soft and squishy. And cute. He needs to be cute."

"I am cute?" Baymax's question is just offered at random.

"GoGo! Yes! One of my best friends, of course. We go way back." Hiro grins. "Y'know those wheels? All me." Hiro can't even take all the credit. "Okay, well, all her first but then I totally hooked her up with those killer upgrades." Hiro grins. "So. Am I hired yet or what?"

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Sure, show me how it works, balloon boy," Toph responds. Heh, at least the robot seems to be way nicer than most robots she's met in the multiverse.

Carbon fiber? Well, Toph doesn't know much about robotics, the few details she's picked up won't do her much good. But she does seem genuinely curious about Baymax. And heh, many people might want a robot like that. "Lots of robots in the multiverse seem to be focused on killing, so it's a nice change of pace to meet one that is the opposite. Dunno how 'cute' robots are supposed to be, obviously I can't tell," she adds with a shrug. Okay, so he knows GoGo. For a moment Toph seems to be thinking a bit, then she nods. "I'll talk with Mr. Stark and see if I can get you an appointment with him. Usually he is in the office, but he's been a bit busier than usual the last months due to... stuff. Are you in the Union or considering joining it, by the way?"

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"Okay. Watch this. It is going to be... sick?" Baymax turns to Hiro for a bit of a confirmation on his use of the wording but wastes no time before he proceeds to deflate himself at a rate of annoyingly gross sound effect du jour.

Hiro's facepalming sound effect accompanies it before he slides his hand up and through his hair that just ends up as messy as it was before he even facepalmed. "Heh. Oh Baymax. What a comedian, huh?" Hiro elbows the deflating Baymax quickly before he moves directly into the next order of business. "All Unioned up and ready to help!" Hiro brings a thumbs up even though he's forgotten already that Toph can't see it. And those eyes of his go even wider when Toph mentions the possibility of an interview. "Oh man. That would be sooooo sick! Thanks! I'm gonna' have to whip up somethin' epic for this." And already his little brain wheels are turning.

    Baymax is still deflating. Noisily.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
At first Toph looks confused at the sound that emanates from Baymax... and then she begins to snicker slightly before she lets out a loud and amused laugh, leaning forward as she grips her stomach. "Seriously...?" she manages to get out, grinning widely. The fact that Hiro is embarrassed by it only makes it funnier!

Okay, so Hiro is a member of the Union already? Well, that makes it way easier since that's less of a security risk. "Good, then you could be my guest. Are you busy one of the next days?"

Even as Baymax is still deflating Toph does reach out, trying to get a feel of the carbon fiber skeleton inside once enough air has been expelled. "The name's Toph Beifong, by the way. Ensign of the Union," she states in a late introduction.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
Baymax only continues to deflate until his skeleton can be felt. "There." He has to leave some room to reflate again, after all!

"Uh. Too busy for a meeting with Tony Stark? Impossible!" Hiro is about to do a little dance before he realizes something. "Uh, wait. I can't do Tuesdays. Tuesdays are Family Days. But any other day I'll make time! Just say when and I'm there."

"I will be there as well." Baymax offers from his much more flattened state.

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Toph does appear curious when she runs her hands over Baymax's skeleton. "Huh. Kinda weird how you made him so... big, huh?" she inquires curiously, and then after some seconds she nods. "Thanks, you can go back into balloon mode again if you want."

Yup, Hiro is a total Stark fanboy, huh? The blind teen grins. "Just keep your schedule open and I'll talk with Goldie and arrange something, maybe a barbeque or something. And I expect you to be there, balloon buddy. Hiro did say that you're what he wants to show off. It would be kinda stupid to leave you behind, huh?" With that Toph gives the two a nod. "I was just stopping by to settle some stuff and transfers really, but heh, at least you two made the day less boring!"

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"Thank you." Baymax's manners kick back in just as much as the inflation does because he starts to balloon right back up.

"Sweet! You're not gonna' regret this. We'll be there! And we'll be impressive and Mr. Stark is gonna' wanna' hire us on the spot!" Hiro's excitement level is starting to rise as fast as Baymax's inflation. "C'mon Baymax! We gotta' get to work! Well, we gotta' get to class first and /then/ we gotta' get to work on somethin' awesome to impress Mr. Stark!"

Looks like today has turned into a better day for everybody. From boring to less and from 'oh god going to jail' to 'VICTORY!'

Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Okay, this robot is hilarious even if he doesn't mean to be.

"Just keep an ear out for the Union radio and I'll let you know, maybe Goldie will ask for you later too." Talk about getting excited... "Just don't go overboard. If Baymax is as good as you say he is it should be enough." Chances are that Tony will probably want to get somebody so young and enthusiastic in with Stark Industries, so eh, it's probably not that hard if he was able to make something like Baymax. He doesn't sound much older than she is. "Feel free to check out the nearby area though, maybe next time you come here we can get you a pass so you can check out all the labs and such if you want to." Which she assumes he does.

Hiro Hamada (1029) has posed:
"What?! An all access pass to STARK TOWER?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" Hiro even starts to tilt backwards but Baymax is right there to make sure that Hiro doesn't faint completely.

"Hiro. You must be careful. Falling backwards may result in injury." Baymax offers this information just to make sure Hiro is paying attention.

"Thanks again, Toph! I'll catch ya' later!" Hiro grabs Baymax by the arm and pulls so that he can get his escape back to his workshop on! Baymax's legs move as fast as they can. Which is not fast enough.
