Fright Factory - The Killing Floor
Date of Scene: 11 October 2016
Location: The Deep Valley
Synopsis: Three heroes endure the Killing Floor and the monster lurking there.
Cast of Characters: 368, 1057, 750, Lyria Mason

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
The storage yard outside the looming shadowy building is still dead and pretty much untouched. The shipping crates that collapsed have been moved away from gaping maw of a cargo doorway, but otherwise it's been left as it is. The less of Tesla Armadia's ire drawn before it was time to make the push inside, the better.

Yet arriving here, there's still that ominous feeling of being watched.

Not by security. But by something much more eerie and... almost primal. Definately not normal feeling at all.

Still it's a good spot to meet, and make sure you were foolish enough to come here alone...

Alopex (1057) has posed:
There are people that were fine with coming alone. The ninja that visited this place only a few days earlier was one of them. She had found herself caught up in something and she was going to finish what she started, even if Alopex had only acted to save a life. Often she felt it was better to only fight when needed. When a life was on the line? It was needed.

Today, she had hopes that the ones she met before would return. This factor had something dark going on within it, and the problem needed a little exorcising, and not the sort that needed a preacher and verses to take care of.

Rebound (750) has posed:
Yeah, this place is still creepy as hell. Rebound is shadow boxing near the agreed upon meeting spot, keeping herself warmed up. They couldn't let Tesla get away with whatever she was doing in here, even if they had to fall back from last time, she wasn't about to abandon this place yet. At least that's what Rebound figured.

Spotting Alopex, the kangaroo shifts her weight and hops, landing right next to the vupine ninja, "Hey. You came back."

Alopex (1057) has posed:
"I had no reason not to return," is Pex's swift reply, eyes slipping from the factory, to Rebound, and back again. "Something is wrong here. I feel we should deal with it before it becomes a bigger problem for others."

Lyria Mason has posed:
SO here was Lyria once more looking into things here once more she was arriving just after Rebound and Alopex and felt oddly out of place being a hume. Welcome to the multiers she's long since stopped assuming Humes were dominae everywhere he looks to the pair for a moment and tilts her head. "Ahoy there it seems I'm not the only one looking into this. The name's Lyria by the way."

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
And so our intrepid souls venture into the blot of darkness and dust upon this landscape. It might take a slight duck from taller morphs to get through the cargo door that has been wedged open and left to the crumbling hands of time, but otherwise there is little obstruction.

Crossing that threshold leaves the adventureous ones surrounded by towering machinery. It looks all around them as it disappears towards forgotten ceilings lost in the shadows. Coolant pipes, air ducts and other technological greebles weave around and through them, making it hard to distinguish what sort of industry these machines were meant for before being left to rust.

Other machinery can be heard running in the distance, farther within. But the path bending at sharp turns through the mechanical maze is constraining and shadily light; the lighting faint and patches of shadowy unknown in some places.

It's the only visible passage to take though.

Somewhere unseen, metal can be heard scraping against metal. If that was machinery groaning with disuse or something else is hard to tell...

Rebound (750) has posed:
Thankfully Rebound remembered to bring a flashlight with her this time, because she's able to bring it out and shine it down the long corridor in front of them, trying to spot anything, "Heloooooo!" She calls out, listening for the echo, "C'mon Tesla, don't make us wander around in the dark. Come on out, let us whoop your butt, and we can all go home."

Alopex (1057) has posed:
"Well. Lets see what we can find, then," the fox suggests before pressing forward. A welcoming nod is given Lyria as the fox starts to walk, "Alopex," she introduces before slipping into the factor and into the darkness beyond.

Even her eyes are having trouble seeing much more than abandoned machinery and the path ahead. A little more light, and she would hae scaled something to try and get a better point of view. Now? "I think it is best we stay together-" Metal scraping.. "-... for the duration," she whispers. She had another thought in mind, but if something is moving in the factory, maybe the alterior plan is a bad idea. The flash light causes Alopex to shield her eyes a moment when it's turned on, but she smiles at the woman, "If I had thought I would be doing more than salvaging, I would have brought different supplies.."

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason looks to the Alopex and Rebound and humms for a moment to the fox woman before she follows in. "Good to be with you both I'd not want to go in here alone and Tesla again? What's up with her her inventions are trash too." She grumps, it's machineist ego which might just get her into trouble or not pay enough attention as she moves in. Still she does keep with the group at the very least.

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
Almost seems like Rebound's catcalling worked, except for when a panel opens overhead it's only to lower a frame that crackles to life with some kind of holographic flatscreen display. It is the infamous technopath herself on the viewer though, fingers steepled together before her. Rebound would certainly reconize her. Alopex might be able to at least deduct she's some kind of mutant as well, from the armadillo-like ears and nose ridges. "Well well well. It seems my unwanted company has returned." A pause, likely counting. "Most of you, at least."

There's a pause as she parts hands to reach off-screen and pull a mug back into view. "I suppose it would be futile to ask you to simply leave and save us all the frustrations."

She pauses to take a sip. A reflective sheen catchs across her glasses. "So I'll ask you this instead..."

Abruptly a heavy blast door slams down shut behind them with an ominous *WHOM* when it hits the ground.

Lips curl just enough to show Tesla's fangs in a wicked little smirk.

"Can you survive the Killing Floor?"

And that's when the corridor's floor drops! ... More accurately one end drops down, turning it into a steep slope to send them sliding down into the dark depths of the industrial nightmare.

Alopex (1057) has posed:
Going down? Tesla's sudden holographic appearence, in the Gendo-pose, complete with glass-flash, causes the fox some concern. "We'll survive anyth-" and then the floor drops out. Eyes go wide, the fox claws for some sort of traction, but she'll end up plummeting down into whatever surprise Tesla has created.

Rebound (750) has posed:
A hallway full of traps?! Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal, gravity! Rebound tumbles down the ground aftter the the fox, having totally lost her grip on the ground and with nothing to push off of, being unable to gain any sort of traction./

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason may be talking trash and it could come back to smack her up side the head. For now Lyria does "The killing floor?" She pauses with a cry and ends up going falling with everyone else she lets out a cry thankfully she's been climbing on rigging since she was a kid, however she's going to end up laning on the ground hard if she doesn't do anything she attemps to find something anything she can hang on to to keep from going splat.

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
There's enough traction to keep oneself from a violent crash into the floor waiting below, but not actually stop the descent in itself. The factory above can still be heard groaning and grinding away in its delapitated state but becoming no more than a fading whisper in the night.

The slope eventually spits them out onto a cold metal platform. To find that the 'Killing Floor' is aptly named. Machine purgatory would be another suitably horrifying name for it. Scrapped devices lie in a heap, gutted for whatever useful parts might of once remained in them. Remains of robots are hung at the sides, ranging from entire bodies to nothing more than broken frameworks. Robotic skeletons, if you wish.

Others lie on the floor like rusted corspes, unidentifiable fluids dried to the surface... Or is that blood? It could be. Something smells rotten down here, maybe there's a decaying cyborg in the decrepit room somewhere... Did that one just move a bit?... No, had to be your own paranoia... maybe...

There's also several conveyors moving in various directions, with more of the same upon them... Until one passes under a machine and is promptly crushed by a massive press, sending metallic bits showering away.

Another wreck is grabbed by mechanical arms, held as it's chassis is split open and it's technological innards pulled free. By the way the frame shudders and twitchs, it may of not been entirely deactivated yet.

A very brutal, viscerous method of recyling. When the broken and obsolute and sent to be dismantled and destroyed so new scientific terrors can be made. Is this what Tesla has been doing with this place?

A wheeze echos through the area, sounding like a cooling vent rattling loose. Also sounding like heavy breathing...

An electronic scream pierces the ominousness abruptly! A metallic skull, just removed tumbles down and bounces off the floor from an overhead dismantler, it's digital eyes still wide in now dead emptiness.

Something else is down here... there's that rattling weeze.. something metallic scrapes across a floor...

Lights flicker, making it difficult to see farther than the platform itself... The eerieness in itself is almost choking...

Alopex (1057) has posed:
If there is a mechanical hell, Alopex is sure that they just found it. After crashing into the ground, the fox winces as she rises, "Ow.." she mutters first before taking a long look around. "This is horrible," she muses, watching in horror as machines, possibly sentient ones, are being dismantled, ripped apart, or even worse. There's no slag pit down here ... right? Acting on her first thought, the fox starts to hunt for any kind of 'emergency stop' button that most places like this may have. The other sounds don't give her any pause. She doesn't care, at this moment, what else is down here. "Do you still have that light? Shine it around, see if-" SHRIEK. The skull actually did get Alopex to flinch a moment. She heaves a sigh, then continues her statement, if not a little shaken. "See if you can find any sort of emergency stop... Factories usually have them, right?"

Rebound (750) has posed:
Rebound does manage to roll as she hits the ground, judo training in action, but she rolls into a pile of scrapped robot parts, and groans out as she lays there, "Ow." She picks herself back up, slowly, "What the hell is this? Does she build all of this crap just to scrap it?!" She looks around and then pops her neck, "I doubt Tesla would put something like that in. She's not exactly the type to actually do stuff like that."

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria is jsut able to keep her self from ending up street pizza and she finally end sup getting to the bottom. There's a bunch of wrecked robots and it's rther creepy here. "It's like a gear slaughter house." She muses darkly and moves to get a floating hover unit out of a pouch. The thing flies by her shoulder and gives off fairly strong light.

"We're not alone down here? Is this some robotic Abyss?" She cringes at the machines and she'll moves with the fox. "Right on it!"

She'll attempt to see if she can find a way to turn this madhouse /off/

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
Scrape.. Scrape.. Scraaaaape...

Another flicker from the lights as that rasping rattle continues in the background... or is it getting closer...

The weezing air is NOT coming from a vent farther up one of the walls.. Wait, a vent! If they could get up and open that, they could maybe climb back up to the main floo--

Suddenly everything in the room stops. Stops -dead-. Cold and silent and dark...

Only to be split by a hellacious screeching wail!

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-upRyQ8WcGqS05JdG1BbjJXLWs/view

lunges out of the darkness like a wailing terror from the pits of this mechanical hell!

Gnashing metal teeth and lashing stain-coated claws. Gleaming unholy eyes in otherwise deep and empty sockets. Now it's audible that the weezing rattle is from the cooling ducts that form the jagged panels of a 'mane'. The angular jaws suggest something canid; the splattering of painted spots on the body imply a hyena maybe?

The visible piston struts and gaps in the casing around joints suggest something of an older model.. But holy hell that thing moved fast when it tore out of the shadows!

Better do something before it gets those claws on you.

Alopex (1057) has posed:
"It is worth looking if the factory did not belong to-" Pause. The fox's eyes slowly turn to peer into the darkness. The scraping noise has finally caught her attention. As her eyes sweep, she notices the vent, but, that would have to come later. The sudden silence causes a hand to drift to the blade at her back. When the mechanical monstrosity lunges out with its peiercing wail, Alopex can't help but stumble backward due to the combination of noise and suddeness overwhelming her senses.

A different sound of metal on metal pierces the darkness. This factory's owner has caused Alopex to draw the Tentetsutou twice. Somehow, she was sure a third time would come when she meets Tesla face to face. The blade is stationed between herself and the rusted machine, eyes narrow, "I will not fear you.." at least not again.

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason is trying to find a wya to shut this thing off then something comes leapoutn out of the wood work. She's not even sure what the heck this thing is. She was going to shut the thing down if she could but it turned off when that machine attacks.

"What the Deep Six?"

She cries out and her gun comes up now as she looks about while her other hand reaches for some kind of cutlass off her back.

"You looking for a fight? you will have one but consider your options, you may wish to Parlay...rather than fight."

Rebound (750) has posed:
"Okay what the hell?!" Rebound drops back a step, clenching her fists and watching the robot that's rushing towards them. She throws herself forward by pushing off with her back foot. She's not aiming to strike it though.

She's aiming to leap over the creature, trying to land behind it. She's seen Alopex in action last time, so knows if the two of them can split this thing's attention, they can take it down. She hopes.

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
Those kangaroo legs are good for more than just appearances, leaping Rebound over the mechanized monster and to the other end of the Killing Floor, sending a few stray bits of dead robots clattering about with the landing.

There's a pause, and the thing actually turns its head around backward entirely to look at her. That's kind of freaky just in the fact that it doesn't look like the pistons and struts making up it's neck are jointed -to- turn that way. Maybe still entirely aren't, as there's a bit of a jerky clicking as the head turns back to the ninja fox and the pirate lass.

Some attempt had been made at one point to give it a limited effort in expression. It's ears are on hinges that it splays back, eyebrows swiveling into an even more angled scowl. The only reply it makes is a grating, grinding growl of a noise... hard to tell if it can only snarl and shriek, or whatever speaking capacity it has is mangled by age and wear.

And then it lunges at Alopex, aiming to put those fluid stained, piston driven jaws around the vulpine's fuzzy little neck. Truth be told, outside of terrifying the older model has a fairly narrow scope of focus.

"I see you found Laughtrap..." A squeaky, childish sounding voice speaks up "Or did he find you?"

Sitting on one of the now still conveyors is a smaller form, oversized ears draping down from the head almost like pigtails. The lop-ear is dressed like an classic stage performer, right down to the coattails and tophat. The question is more where did she come from, though?

"Master Armadia leaves it here to pick the scraps and make sure survivors don't escape the facility." But she's just sitting there instead of getting involved. Or doesn't want to. Exposition rabbit?

Alopex (1057) has posed:
That was what Alopex was waiting for. The lunge doesn't even cause her to flinch, rather, she leaps to one side, hoping to avoid the claws. The last thing she wants is to get cut up by them, get whatever is on them -in- her, and then have to worry about getting a shot ontop of the rest of everything. That rust bucket would give anyone a horrible case of the nasty, no doubt.

"Bring it down!" Pex barks out, somewhat surprised Lyria is even trying to talk to it. "It isn't made to chit chat, it's made to do the same thing as the other machinery down here! Put an end to it!" To emphasize, the ninja's blade is sent singing downward, slicing for any exposed bits she can find..

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason halts for a moment with her weapon's ready, she pauses at the voice and leaps back fiing a few shots with her pistol at the thing. She doens't say a thing about the voice. So this is a way for her to dispose of minions? Oh man she's not even sure what to think, she'd back up the AI code of any drone she might need to strip for parts but she turned them off first and never had something with a mind of it's own.

"What kind of Maniac is this Land Lubbing Tesla?!"

She's going to try to keep grom getting eatn and she does start shooting. She then pauses shifts her stanse and a bolt of magma rises out of the grounf and flies right /at/ the thing.

Rebound (750) has posed:
"The mad scientist type!" Rebound replies to Lyria, as she moves in on the malicious mechanized monster. The gauntlet on her right hand sparks to life, and she swings, not for the creature itself, but the ground below it.

If she can take this Laughtrap thing off of it's feet, maybe Alopex and Lyria can lay into it while she's got it down on the ground. Or maybe the Killing Floor is hollow and she'll just punch straight through and send it plummeting to its doom

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
Sparks fly as claws scrap across the floor when the ninja vixen deftly dodges the deadly construct's vicious movement. Gunshots put a few holes in it's outer casing but don't seem to slow it down any.

"Oooh foxy loxy there is a smart one~" It's hard to tell if the bunny girl is being sarcastic or actually complimenting her due to how high pitched her voice is.

'Laughtrap' as she apparently called it wrenchs its claws out of the floor and turns to keep stalking it's prey, its movements jerky but not necessarily slow. It starts to shift as if to lunge again... And then Rebound abruptly slams the ground, causing it to heave up beneath the strang machine.

The old animatronic systems aren't really good at stabilizing from that sort of disruption, especially since the hyena is built just as big torso/small hindquarters as the real animals are. The mystic blade gouges deep into the mechanical body, knocking it over entirely.

Old machinery must be stubbornly tough, because even having it's body cut halfway through doesn't stop it from starting to stand up again, beady glowing eyes staring balefully as it literally just twists its limbs around in inhuman ways to lift itself up...

And then a blast of magma from the other direction thankfully knocking the unholy automation down again, this time through the floor thanks to it already being cracked apart by Rebound's strike.

"That's going to be a loooooong waaaaay doooooown." The lop-ear pulls off her tophat, producing what looks like a magician's rope of scarfs from it. "You probably want to leave now. But if you really want to mess with the master, her main shop is on the upper level. Have fun getting there~" She tosses the scarf up, snagging onto some unseen machinery and hoisting herself away.

And that's when something rumbles in the depths of the machinery, and with several flaming sparks and smokey rumbles large portions of it start to fall apart. Oh, sure, NOW it self-destructs... Probably part of the trap, in the end.

That vent passage is probably looking pretty good right now. Quickest way to get out of here before everything falls apart

Alopex (1057) has posed:
When the machine goes falling down de hoooooooooole, the vixen motions to the others, "Vent, up there, go!" A pause, a glance between Rebound and Lyria, "Carry her if you need to, just get moving! I'll follow up behind you, just hurry it up!" She'll follow after the pair once she is certain they're through the vent and NOTHING ELSE follows them.

Rebound (750) has posed:
Rebound moves over and grabs Lyria, "Hold on." She offers, before she plants both feet and leaps for the vent. Her other hand swings as she heads up to punch the vent out of the way and she just hopes it's not too small of a vent. She grabs onto the end and holds Lyria up to the vent, "Get in, go!" She'll follow the geomancer afterwards.

Lyria Mason has posed:
Lyria Mason hadn't been expecting something like this Laughtrap? Yet she now has a damn good idea about Tesla. She's totally off her rocker and then some. She look to the lop-ear for a moment before nodding to Alopex. "Right it's time to go!" She doesn't argue at all as she stows her weapons and hangs on to Rebound it's time to get the hell out of here!

Alopex (1057) has posed:
And with the other two out, the arctic fox is -right- behind them, not even wanting to see what happens to the 'killing floor' behind them. "What kind of mess did I wander into..?"

Tesla Armadia (368) has posed:
It's a bit of a climb, but the vent passage will get them out of the now broken down portion of the factory with little overall issue. It was probably meant to be an emergency escape of some sort. The original facility wasn't Tesla's construction after all, she's just added to and modded it a few times.

****

"The Killing Floor has been destablized." Syntheia grabbed the screen she had been watching on by the ends and collapsed it between her hands. "And your... stray has already fallen off scanner range. You were right about it taking actual heroes to defeat that thing."

Despite what one would expect to be bad news, Tesla merely sipped the end of her coffee. "Of course I was. And Abby?"

"Tattled as she was told to." The catgirl holo-AI turned her head to a curious cant. "Is this not a lot of effort to go through? Not that I'm not looking forward to finally being removed from this dump's mainframe."
Another sip, and the mug is set aside. "Heroic Intervention is just an easier write-off, letting them do most of the work. After all the troubles I've previously caused? Easy enough to attract enough destructive attention to do so." Tesla folded her hands behind her back as she walked out of the room. "I best go prepare the workshop for their eventual intrusion."

.... Somewhere beneath the collapse of factory machinery a red optic flares back to life ....
