Date of Scene: 08 September 2019
Location: Shrine of Adversity
Synopsis: Corona gives a new friend a crash course in multiversal combat.
Cast of Characters: Corona Arclite, 7099

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite throws open the doors to one of the training chambers and saunters in like she already knows the place. Which is fairly accurate, she usually comes down to the Temple of Adversity when she needs to live test her weapons without actually putting anyone in danger. "Trust me Rosie, y'all love this place once ya give it a go'round. Train without havin' to worry 'bout holdin' back just to keep it 'safe'."

It's kind of hard with her drawl to tell if she's actually given her new friend a new nickname or just how her accent makes Rosa's name sound.

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
"So this place lets you spar without having to pull punches?" She asks, as she follows Corona in. She's wearing a similar outfit to the one Corona initially met her in, as she whistles a little bit, "How do they manage that?" She would love to know the specifics, but she figures that can wait until after the fight.

Corona Arclite has posed:
"Don't know the specifics, and frankly, doubt even the geniuses would entirely understand it even if Ah did," Corona replies with a snicker as she ambles over to the controls and punchs in a few quick commands. "All that matters is it does what it does, and ya ain't gonna be hurt perm'nently in the end."

Reality briefly ripples around them before settling in on a fairly standard street scene. An urban setting they'd both be familiar with but without annoying things like bystanders to get in the way of their sparring. The console 'masks' itself as a payphone... which really isn't much of a costume beyond appearance. Who the hell uses payphones anymore?

Corona draws both of her standard revolvers, twirling them a few times like you see all the movie gunslingers do before gripping them properly and THEN flicking off the safetys. "'Sides Ah wanna see what ya can do when we ain't gotta fret over civvies rubberneckin'."

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
As the room shifts around them, Rosa is a bit surprised, but rolls with it. "Okay. Kinda strange, it's like, holograms I guess?" They have sci-fi shows where she comes from.

Well, regardless, Corona wants to see what she can do. The gunslinger wasn't there when she showed off during her fight with the orcs, so she'll show Corona first hand, "Alright. No holding back, you got it." She takes a moment to tighten her vest, and then she plants her feet and takes off.

It's not a long distance to cover between herself and Corona, but the fox has guns, and Rosa does not. So she's going to have to cross that distance, and then try to deliver a straight punch to the vulpine before she can get too set up.

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite instinctively holds up and arm to shield her face with one of her reinforced gloves. But Rosa's punch hits with a lot more force than she was anticipating and even with saving her muzzle from being smashed in she's sent staggering backwards from the force. She snffs lightly, glancing at her arm. "One hit an' it's already dented. Ya'll takin' 'no holdin' back' rawht serious."

She takes another step back, tail swaying behind her as she turns with the movement to bring up one revolver, pulling the trigger as she snaps it up so it fires right as it levels off. It's one of the most 'normal' weapons she has, but at close range, even that is fairly dangerous.

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
The jaguar was trying to be quick, but clearly misjudged just how skillful of a gunslinger Corona was. She saw the gun starting to raise, and tried to move out of the way, but wasn't nearly fast enough. Thanfully for her, the round impacts her vest. It still hurts like hell, knocking the air out of her and making her stumble backwards. She manages to maintain her footing, if only just.

"Nice shot." She says to Corona, "Speed and accuracy, I'll have to keep that in mind." She moves forward a step, planting her left foot, before she wheels around with her right foot in a massive swinging roundhouse kick, again aimed for Corona's head.

Corona Arclite has posed:
Those reflexes are as quick at putting guns away as they are aiming them as Corona reholsters the revolves fast enough to still have her arms back up to intercept. She puts both hands together to catch the kick, the augmentations in her gloves audibly straining with holding the blow back. They may give her increased strength but it's designed more for weilding heavier weaponry, she doesn't have the size to fully mitigate the blow.

What she can do is activate their conduits, causing sparks to fly around her hands as electricity is discharged, leaving a shearing sensation in it's wake as the current naturally seeks the shortest path through Rosa's legs to the ground!

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
One of the downsides to always being barefoot is that you don't really have any way to protect yourself from electrical shocks. It's something that Rosa will need to look into in the future. The shock travels from her shin all the way through to her other leg and into the ground proper, and it knocks her back, away from Corona and onto the ground.

She lays there for a moment, briefly dazed, before she pulls back and kips up to her feet, "You've just got all kinda gadgets, don't you?" She asks, as she consideers for a moment, before she reaches up to her vest and grabs her baton off of there. She swings it outwards, the weapon snapping into place, before electricity crackles across the surface, "But I can play that game too."

She quickly closes the gap, the sparking baton moving to strike low this time, after a high feint to try to make Corona block her face again.

Corona Arclite has posed:
" 'Course Ah do, Ah'm an engineer after all," Corona replies with a bit of a smug grin. "Did ya think the goggles were just fer sho--" She realizes said goggles are still hanging around her neck instead. "--Oh." She grabs them and yanks them up into position over her eyes. "That's better."

The tactic mostly works. Corona ducks after getting her protective eyewear in place, and instead gets the electrified baton slammed into her shoulder and knocking her on her side. "Oof!" She hits the ground and rolls over so she hop back onto her feet, spurs rattling a little as they hit the pavement again. "Guess it's time to really not pull no punches." She slaps a hand over her wrist device to activate something, and then draws a larger firearm from her hammerspace inventory. It looks like some manner of shotgun. But it's usually a safe bet that the wily vixen's guns aren't nearly as simple as they appear.

Sure enough when Corona holds down the trigger and pulls back the action several times in succession, instead of standard shotgun rounds the weapon belches out large balls of flame!

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
A flaming shotgun? That's crazy. Rosa is trying to get out of the way, but there's no chance with the sheer amount of firepower coming her way. Her clothes catch, and she falls backwards, trying to bet the flames out, before rolling on the ground to get the flames out.

"Okay. That's a cool trick." She says, as she pushes herself ack up to her feet, rubbing one of her hands under her muzzle for a moment, before she begins to move in again. She shoots in, going low, aiming to take one of Corona's legs out from under her.

Assuming she actually manages to get a hold of that leg, she'll try to lock Corona into a knee bar, which will put a ton of pressure on the joint, possibly even breaking or dislocating it, if it's kept on long enough.

Corona Arclite has posed:
"Dunno how much experience ya've gotten with the Multiverse already Rosie, but yer gonna get everythin' and everythin' thrown at ya event'ally. Gotta be prepa--awk!" The commentary breaks off into a yalp of surprise as the fox is yanked off her feet and put into a very painful hold. If there's one real disadvantage Corona has in this fight, it's how small and light she is in comparison to the feline brawler. She's easy to pick up and toss around... If you can get your hands on her. "Sunnova!"

Despite her efforts to wiggle free Corona can't get out of the hold, so she resorts to more drastic measures. A little squirming manages to bump the right mechanism the right way, and a plume of hot energy erupts from the heel of her boot. Normally they're used as jump boosters, but she's counting on it being sudden enough and close enough to Rosa's face to startle her and help push the fox free when he grip falters.

Or the kitty might get some scorched whiskers.

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
Things are rapidly spiralling out of control thanks to Corona's experience. Rosa may be a trained fighter, but Corona has more overall experience in dealing with the multiverse and all the strange quirks that come with it.

Rosa is still thinking in terms of a normal fight, where someone won't have rocket boots to break out of a hold. She lets go immediately as soon as the burst starts, and yelps out in pain, pulling back, "Hell!" She growls out, "That was a dirty trick. I gotta remember that folks will do that."

She clenches her fists, and thinks. Okay. Dirty tricks. She can do dirty tricks to make sure she wins. She moves in again, this time driving forward, but instead of going straight at Corona, she shifts to her right side and finds a lamp post, running up it a few steps, before she turns in midair to pounce down upon the fox from above. After all, from above is where jaguars are the most deadly.

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite saves herself from a broken leg as that would really make the end of the fight difficult. But her ramshackle exit maneuver skids her across the pavement for her share of road rash in exchange, and she just lays there a moment as she tries to catch her breath. As a response to Rosa's outburst she just raises an arm and holds up a finger. "Dirty fightin' only applies to mud wrasslin'." Then she finally gets up and dusts herself off.

Only to get bowled over for the umpteenth time as Rosa leaps down on top of her. But this time Corona was at least able to roll with the blow and mitigate some of the damage, tumbling away and getting back up onto a knee. While drawing a much bigger gun this time. That one definately qualifies more for handcannon than handgun despite the revolver style chamber. It's hard to tell just how many rounds that thing holds when Corona fires them off in rapid succession and... one shot whizzes just past Rosa's head, but nothing actually hits her.

The first time.

Contrary to it's initial spray'n'pray appearances each shot of the volley is calculated down to the angles to send them ricochetting around the scene, off the walls, and repeatedly at the feline over and over.

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
Rosa thinks she's in the clear when Corona misses. Until she gets a sharp pain in her back. Then her side. Then her other side. It just keeps coming as the shot strikes her several times in rapid succession. She doesn't even have a good way to defend against something like that, trying her best to endure it, but unable to do so.

After about the fifth time it hits her, she finally collapses to the ground. Seems that Corona's experience has won the day, this time.

Corona Arclite has posed:
-This- time. And Corona knows it. It's part of the reason she dragged Rosa down here. Before she runs across someone that's not gonna pull their punches out there in the mishmash of worlds.

If nothing else call it a tough love lesson from a friend.

The fox walks over and grabs one of Rosa's arms to help her up as the system resets. "Com'n Rosie, back on yer feet. Y'all be rawht as rain in a moment or two. Might feel 'bit of phantom pain though."

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
The jaguar groans a bit as she gets back up to her feet, "Ugh. That felt like hell." She rubs her side a bit where it still stings, "But I'm not dead so that has to at least fcount for something, right?" She wonders aloud, as she looks back towards Corona, "You guys don't mess around out here in the multiverse."

Corona Arclite has posed:
"Ya got the jist of it." Corona gives her a pat on the back, grinning the sort of sly grin you'd expect to see from a fox. "Reckoned it was better ya get a taste of it in here b'fore someone tries to sidewind ya into a bad spot out there. It's a spot we've all be in at some point."

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
Rosa smiles back at the fox, "I appreciate it." She says, "That you would help me out by kicking the crap out of me. I might know how stuff works back home, but this place...Well, it's a whole different set of rules, huh?"

Corona Arclite has posed:
Corona Arclite's tail sways a few times as she picks up her dropped flame-shotgun and stowed it away. "Y'all get use to it. Let's go get a couple of drinks and cool off after all that, eh?"

Rosa Borrasca (7099) has posed:
"Now that sounds like a plan I can get behind. You won, so your treat, right?" Rosa says, giving Corona a playful punch in the shoulder, before she heads for the exit.
