Union Military Headquarters - Elite Staging/Standby Room
LARGE is the best way to describe this room. Almost any Union Elite can get in here - which is not terribly surprising since this is the staging room, the place where 'on duty' Elites wait and prepare for combat or other operations, when they aren't training or otherwise occupied.
The room itself is rather spacious and in some ways resembles a rumpus room - several holovids, some game systems, and a row of computers along the side. Some smaller sub-rooms are available for study or getting away from things, including a few terminals linked directly to the library computers for research. There are a few holo-mats off in the corner. An ARTHUR and SCION priority terminal is here as well, if you have the correct clearance to use them.
On one wall, however, a large master situation display dominates, showing the current tactical situation, always reminding one just what the purpose of this place is.
A secured turbolift connects this area to some more or less sensitive areas of the base for speedy access, such as the hangar bays and the hospital.
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis is in the Staging Room, typing on a computer as he works on something. He is dressed in the Batman costume, except he is not wearing his cowl, which would completely cover his entire head and face. So you have an eighteen year old, in a black suit that has a red bat on his chest typing on a computer. Yea, Terry could have used the Bat computer, but than he would be more anti-social than anything. Plus, he would like to get to know more of those he will be working with. Additionally, since he is like Bruce, and he has not been told or knows that he is Bruce Wayne's biological son. Although he does have some of Bruce's appearances in his face.
For now, he is busy typing on the computer, looking up some information and not really looking at anyone who enters the room.
- Schala has posed:
Schala arrives from the turbolift in speedy fashion. As she descends from it, she appears to be highly preoccupied. It was rather peculiar to see her in this room, since her normal location was inside hospital walls. And for that matter, she hadn't been seen for days. As for everything else, she seems normal: her purple dress of Zeal, surrounded by her cloak, and her gold accessories—even her hair in the predictable ponytail. She walks to the center of the room, glancing at Terry for a moment. She pauses, bows lightly in quiet apology in case she had disturbed him.
She turns her eyes onto the master screen, following a finger in the air with moving dots on the holographic field. The princess whispers something, just standing there for now. Her bright blue eyes, an absolute match of her hair color, fleet across the screen quickly. But all in all, she is a silent statue.
- Karen has posed:
The staging area is an also a good place for someone to relax after a mission, so it's not really a surprise to see Power Woman walk in, reeking of wood smoke. "Hey," she says as she gets a large cup of coffee from one of the machines. "Creamer, creamer, where's the hazelnut … there it is." The blonde woman takes a long drink before she turns to give the young man a once over. "Let me guess. The future Batman?" she asks, noting the black suit and red bat symbol. She turns towards the other person in the room and nods. "Hi. I'm Karen."
- Fushigi has posed:
It had been a quiet day on the home front. Nothing in the job requests save a few low ranked finding missions, which were easily left to Kusshin taking some of the less experienced members of the team out for some field work. With little else to do since, Fushigi decided to go actually check out the Union base, just now walking into the 'Ready Room'. Sparx is with him as usual, as is a Meowth. Oh no!… though it's easy to tell it’s not THAT Meowth, as he's walking on all fours instead of two feet. He's also wearing a bandana around his neck that matches the rest of the team, and a pair of goggles of some sort on his head. <Huh. Place is bigger than I thought it was.>
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks up and blinks, "Yea," he says simply as he goes back to work. "Let me guess, Karen or should I say Power Girl?" he says to her as he looks at those entering, as he looks over at Schala Zeal, than looks over at the arrival of the Pokemon and blinks. "Schway," he states simply.
- Schala has posed:
Schala stops playing in the air for a moment. She turns to face Terry, Karen, and the Pokemon entering the room. She gasps, "My goodness, I didn't know this many people came into this room all at once. I thought it'd be a little quieter." The princess then paused, smiling, "But it's perfectly fine. It's been awhile since I've talked to anyone. I'm Schala. It's a pleasure to meet you all." She bows again, before striding over to a vacant terminal and sitting herself down.
- Fushigi has posed:
Fushigi and his little band pause after a few steps in, noticing the rather large gathering of people here. "Ivysaur?" <We didn't interrupt something, did we?> "Nyaaaaa…" A light bop to the head with a vine cuts the feline off. "Saur." <Save the salvage ideas for the enemy's stuff Houko.>
- Karen has posed:
"Yeah, that's me. Sorry about the smell, was helping put out a fire. Hard to get it out without serious cleaning," Karen says, dropping heavily onto a couch. "So, not worried about the secret ID thing, Bats?" the blonde asks before taking another long drink of coffee. "Hey, Schala. Nice to meet you." Blue eyes move to take in the Pokemon as they arrive. "Hello. Come on in. From the voice, you must be Fushigi?"
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks and thinks as he nods to Schala, "Batman,” he states to her. "And keeping a secret is a bad thing when it involves those who you maybe working with day in and day out. Plus, some feel that if you keep secrets, you are hiding something that can cause a trust issue," he says to them. "Nope, nothing going on," he says to the Pokemon and he looks, "Although Terry will do," he states to them as he takes a drink form his cup. "As long as you were able to save people in the fire, than it is ok. Part of being a hero," he adds.
- Schala has posed:
Schala turns from her buzzing terminal to Terry, blinking, "Are you accusing me of ill will?" She frowns, looking to the Pokemon for a second with a smile. "There is no secret. I'm just very busy with something concerning my brother, and I was keeping myself up to date with the war. Forgive me for arousing suspicion." She sighs, looking around the room, "So what is everyone else up to then? Relaxation?" She smiles again, again eyeing those Pokemon. It seems like she was trying to figure them out somehow.
- Fushigi has posed:
<That would be me, yes.> Fushigi replies, giving Karen a brief dip of his head. Close as a bow as one can come when you're a quadruped. He shudders a little at the mention of fires, though. Or something about that remark of keeping secrets. Though likely just the fire, he is part plant after all. "Pikachu!" <And she's that super Power Lady!> "Saur." <Girl.> "Nyasu?" <There's a difference?> "… Vy Saur." <… Somewhat.> That said, Fushigi sets himself on his haunches. <We were just looking around the place.>
Sparx cocks his head the side in a somewhat cute-like confused manner as he looks at Karen again, then leans over to Houko as he lifts a forepaw in 'secret whispering' fashion to the Meowth's ear. "Pika chu pika cha." <Female humans are odd. Their chests are even larger than Jynxes'!> Fushigi slaps a forepaw to his face at the two of them.
- Karen has posed:
Karen snerks. "Damn, almost made me choke on my coffee," she mutters, then says, "You sure you're connected to the Batman I know? He'd rather join the Joker fan club than let out any secrets." She adds to Schala, "He was referring to his wearing a mask." She leans back, stretching, joints popping audibly. "Well, the people were already evacuated; I just helped put it out before it got worse. Dug a firebreak, helped ferry water. Definitely need to learn that super breath trick again." Another long drink and she finishes her drink. Looking at the Pokemon, she asks, "So, how're you guys getting along here? And it's Power Woman. Definitely too old to be called Girl." At the mention of chest sizes, she just laughs.
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis shakes his head, "Nope," he says to her. "It was making a generalization," he says to Schala. "Is everything ok with your brother?" he asks her as he looks over at the Pokemon and than to Karen and sighs as he thinks for a moment but says nothing. Now if it was Ash saying it, there would be a lot of sweatdrops on people's head. "Yep," he says. "I maybe Batman, but I am nothing like the previous one, at times."
- Schala has posed:
Schala blinks, blushing a little at the mistake. "My brother…He's fine. I'm sure. I just haven't seen him in a very long time." She jolts for a moment, glancing at Power Woman. "Excuse me for interrupting. Did everything go well, Karen? I hope it wasn't too bad. I've been so busy lately, I haven't heard much of Confed activity." She stands up, deeming her computer for the moment a secondary priority. She wobbles a bit as she stands up. "I didn't realize how big this room was. My."
- Fushigi has posed:
Fushigi resists bapping Sparx for that, when Karen doesn't seem to take offense at the comment, though he does peer a bit narrowly at the two Pokémon as they murmur amongst themselves. Achems a bit. <You'll have to excuse them, most Pokémon from our world haven't had a lot of human contact.>
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks and nods, "Well, maybe I can help you find your brother," he says to her. "When was he last seen and where at?" he asks Schala as he stands up and heads over to the drink machine and gets another glass of soda to drink.
- Karen has posed:
"I'm used to it. Like I used to tell Green Lantern, that's why I never wore a mask. Nobody was looking at my face," Karen says with a bit of a sardonic smile. "And everything went okay. Going to have to replant the area or something, not sure. That for the botanists to figure out."
- Schala has posed:
Schala laughs, shaking her head. "No no, it's fine. I'm almost positive he's at Guardia. He probably wouldn't appreciate it if I had a task force looking for him." She smiles, poring through more medical information, "But thank you." The princess then stops once -again-. It's clear she may have ADD. "Well, I've heard the word once or twice… What's a 'Pokémon'? Even after being here for awhile, I'm -still- getting used to it all." She chuckles.
- Fushigi has posed:
Fushigi waves a vine in Schala's direction. "Ivysaur." <That would be us, for example.> Gives the other two Pokémon a nudge to get their attention away from discussing 'differences in weird human looks'. Guess he has a better idea of what it means than they do, or something. <It's… somewhat awkward to try and describe.> "Pikachu!" <We're cute, cuddly, and still able to kick baddie butts!> Sparx chas, making a few faux punching motions with his forepaws. Houko slaps a forepaw to his face. Fushigi rolls his eyes slightly, but he's smirking a little. <… I guess that works.>
- Karen has posed:
"Missing brother?" Karen asks, putting her feet up on a short table. "And there seem to be lots of different Pokemon, from what Gold showed me. Ash's friends seem to be very weird, though."
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis nods, "First time I ever saw Pokemon," he says to her. "Well, a single person is not a task force. Plus I am good at finding out things quickly," and he looks at Karen. "Good mentor," he adds as he thinks. "And I am good in a fight, having taken on The Joker and beat him at his own game."
- Fushigi has posed:
<Pokemon have their own personalities, just like people do,> Fushigi replies. Peers at the 'boxing Pikachu' for a moment next to him. <And just as eccentric at times, too.> Sparx pauses in mid-punch, notices the other two are staring at him, and chaaas softly as he slinks back a little with a sweatdrop.
- Schala has posed:
Schala is completely awed by these new, highfalutin' Pokemon creatures. She sighs after Terry speaks, "I'm sorry. I was being sarcastic with the task force comment. I suppose my brother was right. Sarcasm just doesn't fit me." She frowns at her failure, and then without warning, walks up to the Pokemon troupe. "Hmm… I see. May I um…touch one of you? Medical curiosity of course." But in her head, it was too obvious that they evoked some sort of estrogenic response. But Schala was fairly good at bluffing—not
- Fushigi has posed:
Fushigi chuckles a little at Schala. "Ivysaur…" <Don't worry, I'm not toxic to the touch, despite being partially a poison type as well as a grass type.> She's probably more interested in the fact that he's a lizard with a flower growing out of his back, anyways.
- Karen has posed:
The blonde woman chuckles, watching the woman examining the Pokemon. "I wonder do they stock beer here?" she mutters as she stands back up and makes her way over to one of the refrigerators. "Oh, can you do The Voice, Terry?" Karen asks over her shoulder. Looking in the icebox, she frowns. "Why is there a whole shelf full of ketchup?"
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks at Karen as his voice changes, "Not like the Original, but as close as I can get," he says to her as he shrugs, "I use that when I have the cowl on. And yes, I can keep the two separate like the Original is able to," he states to her. "I think one of these Pokemon likes ketchup a lot. I remember reading that I believe it was Ash."
- Schala has posed:
Schala's face lights up like a child's, and she hesitantly touches Fushigi's flower. "Oh my." Then she pets it just a little before taking her hand back. "How interesting. Does this flower open?" As she also listens to the other parts of the convo, even raising an eyebrow at Terry's changing voice, the princess seems to metaphorically deflate. "Maybe I really am a million years behind!"
- Fushigi has posed:
*ZOOM* Karen would have something small and yellow bolting past her almost as soon as she mentions 'ketchup', as Sparx bounds into the cupboard and grabs one of the bottles. "Nyasu…" <It's a Pikachu thing, apparently…> Houko mews.
Fushigi chuckles a bit. <It opens a little wider for some sorts of attacks, but it won't actually bloom until I evolve,> He explains. He doesn't seem to mind the curiosity much. Most Pokémon from his world would probably react the same way in seeing a human in general up close.
- Karen has posed:
Karen chuckles. "Yeah, that's pretty good. And you mean just the voice, or the personalities, too? Because I'm pretty sure he thought of himself as Batman, inside. Unlike Kal, who put on a suit to be Superman," she says, then blinks at the Pikachu rushes past. "Um, okay, if you say so. Wait, there we go. Don't recognize the brand, but its beer." The Maid of Might grabs a bottle and pops the cap off with a fingernail. "Evolve? How do you mean?"
- Terry Mcginnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks and thinks, "I think so," he says. "But most that I deal with see Batman, tend to either fight or run." he says as he looks at the Pokémon, and pays close attention, taking mental notes.
- Red has posed:
And something cute, furry and yellow decides to wander in.
It looks like a Pikachu and its name starts with a Pi and ends with a chu with a 'ka' in the middle and is Pikachu. Who could that be?
Whatever he is, he wanders along through one of the side entrances (probably in one of the side rooms) heading straight for the fridge.
- Schala has posed:
Schala nods, yet in obvious confusion, "Evolve?" The princess blinks in utter ignorance, tilting her head. "Excuse me for asking so many questions. You all are really amazing though." She laughs nervously, and she takes no notice of their little visitor on the side.
- Fushigi has posed:
Sparx waddles back to the edge and hops out of the cabinet, carrying the bottle with him to find a spot to sit down and start trying to pry the cap off with his teeth. Still hasn't quite gotten the hang of opening these human bottle things.
<It's…> Fushigi uhs, trying to think of an applicable way of explaining it. <Well, it's not entirely like 'growing up', but that's the closest comparisons that I can come up with. With enough strength and experience, a Pokémon can grow into a stronger, more powerful form. Though that doesn't mean its previous forms are weaker, necessarily.>
- Karen has posed:
Karen looks down at the new arrival, one eyebrow rising slightly. She's not met enough Pokemon to be able to tell one from another, so she's not sure whose friend this one is. But she does step aside so he can get to the ketchup as well. "Want a hand?" she asks Sparx after taking a drink of amber grain fermentation. "And this is a good brand. Not that crap Guy Gardner drinks. Batman ever tell you about him?" she asks Terry.
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks over at the new arrival and nods, "Read about him and all of the Justice League. Including all of the villains that Batman and the others went against. I also spent a lot of time reading over all of the data on the various toxins, drugs antidotes and the like form the Batcomputer. I have even made a few that I have used. And like Batman, I am always gathering information on people, and doing what he does best, getting things ready for any and all possible outcomes."
- Red has posed:
Pikachu says, "Ka!" <Thanks!> and with that he leaps up to the drawer, and looks within…
And glances up. "Pika, ka chu pika pika?" <Hey, who took the last of the Heinz Premium?!>
Hmph!
- Schala has posed:
"Oh! That makes sense. The word evolve…" Schala stands finally. Her face is glowing like a little girl's—perhaps by the cuteness of these Pokemon things or the fact she learned something new. Her royal demeanor seems completely null and void by Fushigi. "So…Are there more like you, Fushigi?" OOC: Or Ivysaur..I'm not sure if you said your name or not Fushigi =O
- Fushigi has posed:
Sparx finally just slices the top off with a good whack of Iron Tail, and sits back to start chugging on it. <Got it, thanks.>
Fushigi nods a little, a vine extending from beneath the leaves, though it just points back at the flower growing upon his backside. <When I was a Bulbasaur this was just a large seed-like pod, for example.> Laughs a bit. <There's over 400 different kinds of Pokémon, miss. And that's only counting the -known- ones.>
- Karen has posed:
"They make premium ketchup?" Karen asks, looking at the electric mice, then heading back to the couch, dropping into it heavily and propping up her feet on the arm. "So, four hundred. How many are evolved versions of other ones?" The blonde takes another drink, and then glances at Terry. "Always be prepared, yeah, that was Bats' obsession. You set up any Omega protocols, or whatever he called them?"
- Fushigi has posed:
<I didn't know there was a difference!> Sparx chus in his own defense.
<You'd be better off asking one of the Trainers that,> Fushigi replies to the question of how many of what others are. <They have the little computer things that keep track of all that sort of stuff, from what I understand.>
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis nods, "Yea, in addition to the ones he did originally. So in a sense, they are more advance and well, he is the original," he states as he listens, "So you evolve by battling and learning and gaining experience. Sort of like how tigers and lions learn to survive in the wild by evolving," he states to the Pokemon. "Humans do the same thing, we evolve as new technology is offered and so we learn more that way, than as new things are introduced, we have to evolve or adapt to not fall behind. However, some do not evolve and enjoy things as they are, before the change occurred."
- Schala has posed:
Schala gasps, "400?! That's so many! So you were a Bulbasaur before now?" Schala lays a hand on her right temple. "There's so much information!"
- Red has posed:
"PIKA? Ka chu pika pika…" <WHAT? Take a goodd sniff, you can smell it right through the bottle!>
He grumbles quietly… though a voice calls out from the other room. "Pikachu, he's probably never had any ketchup before!" Ash. Somewhere in here.
A sigh from the rat. "…pika ka pika…" <…guess del monte'll hafta do…> Pikachu mutters, pulling out the plastic bottle and raising it high over his head. He leaps up, closes the drawer with a kick, and lands with his less precious (but still precious) cargo.
"Pika, ka chu pika…" <Yeah, they make premium ketchup. It's the stuff you see in the fancier restaurants. McDonalds USED to put it in little ketchup packets… better mix of vinegar, salt and tomato.> Pikachu says, as he tugs open the bottle.
He glances up. "Pika pika chu ka pika…" <That's not what he's talkin' about. Evolving for us is more like growing up.> He glances at Fushi. "Pika chu pika…" <And I dunno about your world, but in P-6, there's thousands of species.>
Kids aren't all that uncommon in the Union HQ. Really. Especially since there's how many couples in the Union? Now elite kids are perhaps a little less so once you leave out the younger Trainers. But the pointy haired boy that pushes open the door to the standby room doesn't necessarily look like any Trainer. Saelus stops for a moment just inside the room, and turns his head back a bit to wave a gloved hand at someone unseen behind him.
- Saelus has posed:
"Just start at all the pubs, Tri. Koorin's got to be in one of those drinking himself silly again. But if he's singing that dwarf song about gold, I'd say just leave him be," Saelus shakes his head, groaning quietly at the memory, "Bad enough that he snores loud enough that I can hear it in my own dorm!" Tch, dwarves. Saelus ruffles his hair a little as he steps into the standby room, letting the door close behind him. Without really glancing around he starts walking towards the nearest vending machine, one hand groping around in a pocket of his vest, searching for change.
- Karen has posed:
Karen shrugs and takes another drink. "If you say so. I prefer mayo on my fries, and mustard and onions on hot dogs. Never got the appel of the red stuff," she says. "Nothing against it, just not my thing. Guess you guys must really like it, if you're connoisseurs. And heya," she adds, giving a small wave to the new arrival. "Well, not sure what you have for people like me, but basic green Kryptonite is the best way to go, Terry. Gold, red and the weird ones are too unstable, and they don't always work."
- Schala has posed:
Suddenly, Schala looks alert. She stares up at the ceiling for a moment, closing her eyes. "The black wind…" The princess gasps, almost inhumanly, before turning again to face Fushigi. "Forgive me! I must go. There's something terrible at hand. I can not stay." She bows politely, "Thank you everyone! It was a pleasure meeting you!" With that, she begins mumbling something while raising her arms. She glows for a mere second or two before she completely disappears.
- Red has posed:
"Pika ka pika chu…" <Yeah, humans don't seem to get it.> Pikachu says, before sucking some of his dinner right out of the bottle.
He pauses, however, as he peers over the bottle to where Schala is, who vanished before he could talk.
"…ka chu." <…black wind.> Eartwitch. "Pika chu pika…" <Is it just me, or is that not exactly the healthiest thing to be answering a call from?>
- Fushigi has posed:
<As I said, known species,> Fushigi replies to Pikachu. Then shrugs a little to Terry. <Experience, perhaps, but in more so than just fighting.> And… sort of sweatdrops as Schala takes off in a rush. "Saur…" <That was sudden…> "Nyaaaa." <Musta been important.> But as people go, more come, and as a more familiar face this time arrives Fushighi turns his attention to the kid. <Hello Saelus.> Cocks his head a little at the way he's fumbling in a pocket. <…You lose something?>
- Terry McGinnis has posed:
Terry McGinnis looks, "Yea, there are a number of things that I can use if it comes down to it," he says. "If it does come down to it," he puts some emphasis on the last part as Schala disappears and he thinks as he pulls the cowl on, covering his face. "I think I better go on patrol. Something didn't seem right with that," he says to those gathered as stands there and than just disappears from sight. "Have a good evening," is heard as he disappeared and than is gone.
