Description

Galianda is a world derived from elements of the Final Fantasy series as a whole, set in a modern era. The major continents, or plates, of the world were each created from a major summon (Ifrit, Bahamut, etc.) and are connected together by a bridge-like network called the Great Span. Magic and technology are interwoven throughout civilization, and it is no stranger to use a sword than a gun, though it can vary wildly depending on the location. On Ramuh, magitechnological vehicles are common, and the MogNet transmits information from computer to computer at high speed, while the watery islands of Leviathan more commonly see large ships sailing between the sparse land masses. Many of the plates are still wild and dangerous, requiring brave people to drive back the dangers that lurk outside of the settlements in order to allow civilization to flourish.

Alexander Academy was designed to be the proving ground and training facility to give the best and brightest of Galianda the skills needed to do just that. It is the most prestigious boarding school in the world of Galianda, and graduates are expected to become society's elites with the power to save or doom the world. There, students learn not just math and literature, but discover their talents at magic, learn how to slay monsters and explore the unknown.

Legend holds that Galianda was forged by the First Gods in the ancient days. They say that Chaos was driven back by the forging of Galianda; that the First Gods banded together, pouring their essence and will into nothingness to produce a barricade against the nightmare of all Creation. The ancient texts proclaim the races of Galianda to be the offspring of those gods, placed upon it to guard the ancient seal, to maintain it and be a part of it, and forever watch for Chaos’s influence.

Galianda is a unique and beautiful world. Seven continents are placed upon Galianda; seven ‘plates’, said to be the bodies of seven titans transformed into the floating clockwork worlds linked to Galianda’s ancient core. Each continent was, once upon a time, like a world unto itself; advances in magitech have rendered that no longer true, and great interlocking bridges span the length of Galianda, across which cars and other vehicles travel. Airships move between the continents, flying over the Great Gap with ease; thanks to these innovations of the past century, the world has become a far more modern and beautiful place.

But not so modern. The Old Ways are still held strong even in the great gleaming glass cities; noble families and houses still compete for temporal political power, though now they compete with corporations as well as each other. Shamans still hold their might as god-talkers, advising noble and CEO alike with the wisdom of the Second Gods; mages serve as valuable consultants of both science and magic, and healers are often trained in the arts of biology as much as they are in the ancient ways of mystical healing. Swords remain in the vogue, despite the popularity of firearms; it is not uncommon to see a lawyer walking to work with his rapier at his side, in case monsters suddenly attack.

And there are still monsters. They may no longer be obvious; they may no longer roam unchallenged through the wilds of the seven plates, may no longer rule, but in the undercities, in the sewers, in the dark places and alleys where men do not go, monsters still remained.

All “native peoples” are assumed to be Hume variants unless otherwise stated, with minor adaptative things like “not being subject to huge freezing colds or heats”.

NOTE: Phoenix is the sun. It flies around and roosts in unknown areas Galianda wherever it likes. This results in highly irregular day/night cycles. Time is generally handled by business operation times that were standardized in Ramuh.
