The chiming, soothing music playing matched the drifting patterns of light on the walls, aiding in the relaxation brought upon by that scent from the burning oil. Elliana had doubts that such a simple thing would solve her problem... but the fact that he'd tried was enough for her. Despite their incredibly rocky start, their often strained relationship... Nine had proven so very thoughtful.
Was this what Nathan saw in him?
Heaving a deep sigh, the blonde goddess rolled in her bed. Sleep... would come. Was creeping up on her now. But not quite yet.
Her life's goal was nearly complete... and she'd gone farther than anyone had imagined. The disrespect that had murdered her family and forced her to live in poverty was no longer sent her way. She had power. Prestige. RESPECT. The Union feared her. The Confederacy welcomed her. And now, she felt like the Confederacy, despite some disagreements such as the betrayal she would help with tomorrow... was offering friendship.
Tshallandria, Nine, Rubicante, Alia, Mir, the Materials... they aren't vicious monsters. Many were better than she was. She was the one who had turned on her friends... people who had trusted her, given everything to help her while expecting nothing in return...
Elliana shut her eyes as thoughts turned to that. Not a pretty or pleasant train of thought. True, in the Union she had been weak. Pathetic. Yet... in her short time there, she had accumulated respect nonetheless. She had bonded to others in a way she hadn't expected. In the end it just helped her plans, but... did she really need to go through with it? Perhaps the protests were correct, and with her help, the world could have been saved without the sacrifice of her friends...
Head turning into her pillow, Elliana shood those thoughts away. She did not have room or time for regrets. She was here, and she... was enjoying herself, wasn't she?
Sleep finally came for the priestess. As she expected, Nine's gift did not stop the nightmares from coming.
But it did change them to something else, for once.
