Cast of Characters: | Maya, 188, 385 |
Tinyplot: | WMAT 2015 |
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
It's about as nice and sunny a day as you ever get in the Gizard Wasteland; it might even count as peaceful if it weren't for an imminent throwdown between Elites.
As usual for WMAT announcing duty, Yuna's already in her Light Suit's Flight Form, hovering near one of the camera platforms; the winged variant of her armor allows both mobility (to keep up with a fight that goes running around) and protection (in the event of stray attacks or rubble headed in her direction). She's got her microphone ready, though, and as spectators take their places in the hoverplatforms' stands, Yuna addresses the camera, microphone in hand.
"So it's Lute and Maya, about to face off. They're both long-established Elites, Maya with the Union and Lute with the Confederacy; I'm not sure how much of an active grudge they've had in the past, but whatever past history they have, it'll be interesting to see how Maya's weapons and magic stand up to Lute's Pokemon!"
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute has shown up today, sans Mister Crabs. Last time he fought Maya, he used him. She'll be ready for that. It's time to shift up the strategy. No Pokemon are out at the moment. But, floating next to him is what looks almost like an elongated chunk of ancient metal in a vaguely creature-like shape. It's not much bigger than a large dog, but its eyes are terrifying, glowing with a red light. A purple ribbon is on her head. It's Lute's I-Class Destroyer, Imima Puddleduck.
Lute himself is dressed much as he usually does, nowadays. Loosely buttoned labcoat, no shirt, black jeans, boots. His arms are crossed in front of him, waiting for battle. It wasn't that long ago he and Maya first fought... In fact, they fought in the qualifiers. And, Lute won.
It'd be embarrasing to lose in a rematch.
- Maya has posed:
Maya is ready, she's got a another fight with Lute, he had been a challenge, this was a fight with only pride and fortune on the line. The lives of others were not hanging in the balance. She Arrived a bit later after Lute she's not sure what he's going ot bring with him this time. She doesn't see any pokemon she's not sure what he had with him but she does bow slightly for a moment.
"It's good to see you moved on so far. I'm looking forward to this rematch."
She makes sure Lute is ready and aware of her, she'll afford him respect as a fighter and not try to blind side him. She readies he rifle and opens fire not at Lute but his new strange companion!
"Let's get to this! Shall we?!"
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"And the fight is on!" Yuna announces, most of the cameras turning their attention directly to the beginning of the fight proper. "I'd forgotten that Lute doesn't restrain himself to standard Pokemon any more, and it looks like that anything-goes attitude has carried into the WMAT; still, his companion - looks like a destroyer-girl from the Abyssal Fleet - isn't enough to scare Maya away from taking the first shot, literally!"
- Lute (188) has posed:
"IMIMA! FIRE!"
The very moment the rifle is lifted, Lute shouts this attack. The Destroyer can be fairly quick to react. Sure, there are faster vessels amongst the Abyssal Fleet. Imima is no slouch. The rifle-fire hits upon its armor, creating a dent in it. The creature's mouth opens slowly, revealing a cannon within its mouth. A shell is fired towards Maya, exploding the moment it impacts either her, or the ground.
Lute moves behind Imima. A Pokeball is being pulled out, and opened. The creature reveals itself: A large Arcanine. It moves to Lute's right flank, in a defensive position. He reaches into his labcoat pockets, pulling out two more. He doesn't have time to release these, /yet/. But, soon he will.
- Maya has posed:
Maya is brekaing into a run already, she had no idea just what Imima could do but it hurts. The assault from the fire power does hit clipping Maya well enough and keeping her distracte. She doe snot want to get upclose for the moment. She does however seem to be chaning tactics she sees that Lute's got another ally out in combat. This was to be expected, Lute had mastered teamwork with his various allies after all. She sprints trying to make herself a harder target while she takes card in hand. Blue fire leeches out of her body into the card and sections of the ground it self break free and are fired at Lute and his comrades.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna flies somewhat closer, letting 'her' cameraman turn his attention to the battle as well; the idol veers slightly to one side so she won't obstruct any camera's view. "Lute's ready as soon as Maya pulls the trigger on their fight, though, and his destroyer - 'Imimia' - launches a counterattack as soon as it's commanded! He's letting another monster out, too - an Arcanine, a fire-elemental dog-type Pokemon renowned for their speed. What else did Lute bring to this fight ... ?"
"But whatever Lute's got up his sleeves, Maya's got tricks to match!" Yuna adds, seeing the magic attack. "Lute has her on the run, but that doesn't mean Maya can't keep the pressure on! It's anyone's fight right now, both fighters trying to pick up some momentum and keep it!"
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute's too slow to give the order. The moment the flames come in, he opens his mouth. He shouts, cut off, "HAKAN--" His intent was to tell his Arcanine to move in front of it for him, the fire burning at Lutes body. He lifts his arms in front of him, to try and take some of the blow. It does little to stop it, though. He stumbles back, opening the two Pokeballs in his hand.
"GO, NINJACHU! KAELIN!"
Two more Pokemon appear. A Tentacruel and a Raichu. These three are Lute's original Pokemon. The three Pokemon who have been with him longer than anyone else. He knows there is a risk he could still lose this. But, he'll be going out strong.
"HAKAN! FIRE FANG!"
He'll have to give an order to his other Pokemon in a moment. For now, Arcanine runs forward. His mouth opens baring the fangs as he rushes in against Maya. He aims to bite at her torso, using his massive mouth to chomp down while covering his teeth in flames.
- Maya has posed:
Maya is still giving Lute a good fiht but he's clealry got new tactics and there's a tentacreuel, her skin scrawls at the creature she does not like where it's going. Also it's one of his orginals along with the other two? Are likely his strongest allies he has on hand. She knows this is going to be a hell of a fight at at this point. She's been keeping to the ground for now an the comes the Arcaine and well Mays' caught up close the chomp catches her she struggles she screms she attempst to break lose and the thing gets a rifle pressed to it's body as Maya pulls the trigger and holds it down as she fires.
- Lute (188) has posed:
The blasting at the Arcanine is mostly dealt with via tanking. It clenches its body up, trying to resist the attacks, while moving back to try and avoid more. It's bleeding a bit from where the rifle hit, growling towards Maya.
Lute doesn't give in, though. He's acting like the expert Pokemon Trainer he is. He aims a finger towards Maya, shouting out more commands.
"KAELIN! BARRIER! Ninjachu! Thunderbolt! Imima, fire!"
Kaelin lifts a minor psychic barrier in front of Lute. Not much, but enough to divert some hits from hitting him directly. He's the weak point in the formation. The Raichu, Ninjachu? It glows with power, a field of electricity forming around it. A bolt of thunder flies forward, aimed at Maya's center. No special aiming. He's just planning to keep slam at her until she falls.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Lute sets more of his Pokemon loose," Yuna reports, "a Tentacruel and Raichu ganging up on Maya in addition to his Arcanine and Imima; Maya's hard-presed, but she tries to -"
She winces.
"- Maya goes for close gunnery on the Arcanine ... but Hakan takes the shot somewhere durable, it looks like, and Lute sets up a coordinated attack, all four of his active monst-- uh, all three Pokemon *and* his Abyssal ally hitting Maya simultaneously! That's got to hurt, how is Maya going to turn the tide?"
- Maya has posed:
Maya's thankfully able to get lose, her intent was to try to get lose and that she's fully successful at. However keeping from harm? Nope not so well she's watching the barrier go up and the attacks come now. She gets shocked bad, the bolt strikes her there's a scream her hair's frizziled a bit and she's smoking friom where she got hit. She moves to get up as she selects the next fire mode on her weapon. His tactics keep adapting an she's gong to have to do so to, as she fires off a grenade and breaks into a zig zaging sprint to make herself harder to hit.
- Lute (188) has posed:
The grenade actually gets a bit of a swear from Lute. He and his Pokemon move for cover. Luckily, the Barrier helps protect Lute from the worst of it. His clumped together team, though? They're not so lucky. The explosion engulfs all of Lute's pets except for Arcanine.
"WATER GUN! EMBER! THUNDERSHOCK! CONTINUED FIRE! AND SPREAD OUT!"
Lute starts sprinting back a bit, while the three Pokemon and Imima spread out, trying to make a circle around Maya. Each attack is aims towards Maya, one after another. A small shock of electricity, a small burst of flame, a small burst of water, and more cannonfire. Each is rather weak individually, but together? It will certanly add up.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"A well-placed grenade buys Maya some breathing room, and even Lute dives away from it!" Yuna announces, angling for a better view while still remaining out of combat range. "Lute's falling back on an elemental combination from his active Pokemon, plus continued shelling from Imima; it looks like he's trying to at least keep Maya from capitalizing on that opening she created, and it looks like he might accomplish that ... !"
- Maya has posed:
Maya hears the elements being called out and she's got a very good idea about the nature of what he's got in mind of what he might be doing trying and she seems to be light. She takes a moment reachs for the pendant about her neck. She focuses her magic and a pair of wings flare out, she botls up into the skey avoiding most of the harm. She jets away into the skis but she doesn't get out unharmed she does not stay in the air for long, but she does launch a barrage of powerful gusts of wind at Lute's formation trying to keep their heads down as she attemps to get back to the ground before she's shot down from all the anti air firepower he has.
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute and his Pokemon take a fair amount of damage from the wind, the various gusts knocking most of them to the ground. Imima and Kaelin both manage to stay up the best, but even they get slammed into the ground. Lute himself hits fairly hard, glancing up and frowning.
"KAELIN! Hydro Pump!"
The Tentacruel eyes Maya, judging her flight path. After a moment, a burst of powerful water flies, aimed to where Kaelin best thinks Maya will be. Lute's on the ground, still, but his Pokemon are beginning to right themselves.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna zigs back and away from the fighters as more elemental attacks are thrown into the mix. "Maya breaks out of the bombardment by taking to the air, and she's unleashing wind magic to open up some more space to fight in! It looks like Lute's Pokemon were weak against that element, too, so Maya's got an advantage she can try to use -"
Another wince from the blonde idol. "- but it's not enough to keep Tentacruel from hosing her down with Hydro Pump! Did that knock her out of the air? I can't even see through the spray ... !"
- Maya has posed:
Lute's partners and himself are a finely oiled fighting machine as they work in tandem to terrible effect, for Maya. The attacks comes in and the hydro pump catches her just as where she is about to be. She's hit and goes spirlaing down into the ground leaving an impact crater and there's no movment from it for the moment. Maya slowly rises she's soaked and looking pretty damn hurt from that last attack.
"Your team work is impressive."
She now lower her rifle and that's when she makes with another spell causing a chain of pillars of fire to explode all around her and to head for Lute and his team.
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute takes most of the attack, the barrier protecting him only a bit. He kneels on the ground, finally managing to get up. He'll be having a fair amount of burn wounds after this. This fight, though? It's too important for him to chatter much. He'd offer a comment back, but he is entirely goal focused at the moment.
"EXTREME SPEED! WRAP!"
Lute's Arcanine moves in first, knowing based on the attack after what Lute has planned. He rushes in, looking as if he is going for a full out tackle against Maya. A flash of movement, and he appears behind Maya. She might be able to see this happen. But, for a brief bit, the Arcanine just took on an intense amount of speed. It rushes at Maya, tackling at her. Trying to push her towards the Tentacruel. Soon after, the Tentacruel flings its tentacles at Maya, trying to bind her arms and squeeze down on them.
- Maya has posed:
Maya is moving fast but isn't fat enough to evade. Lute's Arcanine is quikc, and it works he's behind her she does see it but it's too quick for her to respond she's trying to get clear but it's too late the next thing she knows? She's grabbed by the Tentacrule and is pinned down abnd it's huring a good bit she lets out a cry as she's strying to break free of the things hold even as it's crushing her. This is a very effective tactic and she might not be able to get lose but Maya's a lot stronger than she looks as she struggles there trying to free her seld she even attempts to kick backwards given her legs are still free.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Maya's still up and fighting!!" Yuna calls out; if her wings had to beat to hold her aloft, they'd be flapping like crazy right now. "She switches elements, hitting Lute and his team with an array of fire blasts; Lute takes a hit too but bounces right back to his feet! Looks like Lute's going for speed tactics now instead of heavy hits, Arcanine going too fast to see while Tentacruel tries to grab Maya ...and SUCCEEDS!"
Yuna sucks in a breath. "And Maya's snagged, but it looks like she still isn't helpless - she's strong enough to give Kaelin a run for its money; the Tentacruel's going to have to REALLY work to hang onto her at this rate!"
- Lute (188) has posed:
Kaelin is struck, and Lute winces in sympathy. The tentacles release the arms as Kaelin falls back. Lute and his Pokemon are not in good shape. Maya has been doing a vast number of powerful attacks. Lute clenches his fists, finally standing again. He looks forward, glaring at her. She doesn't even look winded, compared to him. How could there be /such/ a massive and sudden turnaround?
He'll fight to the end, though. He takes a step back, bracing. He pulls out three more Pokeballs, bringing out his entire current team.
"REGISTEEL. GIRATINA. GARDEVOIR. FINISH!"
Three more Pokemon appear. The group of six Pokemon, and the Destroyer, line up. They attack, each launching the strongest they can possibly offer. Giratina gathers the energy for Shadow Force, taking the energy of the Distortion World and sending it as a burst towards Maya. Registeel gathers energy, performing the Shadow Pokemon equivalent of Hyper Beam, sending a beam of pure darkness at Maya. Gardevoir attempts to hold Maya still, blasting at her from all sides with her psychic powers. Arcanine unleashes a massive Fire Blast. Raichu brings down a bolt of thunder from the sky. Kaelin fires a burst of Hydro Pump. And Imima? She launches every single last bit of cannonfire she has, straight at Maya.
Lute is, basically, using absolutely every last bit of power he has to win this.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"Is it my imagination," Yuna wonders into the mic, "or did Maya kick the Tentacruel so hard that *Lute* felt it? She got loose, though, and - HOLY COW, Lute just had his ENTIRE team of Pokemon unload their most powerful hits on Maya!!" She circles above the battlefield, steering well clear of the path Raichu's thunderbolt took just in case there's any more lightning coming through. "Can't even see where Maya was standing ... Lute might have just locked this up!"
She has to be neutral as a good announcer, but inwardly, of *course* Yuna's hoping Maya isn't too badly hurt by all of that.
- Maya has posed:
Maya has learned a lesson that many people refuse to learn in the multiverse. Lute is a major threat, he can get such varied creatures to work together. They are a impressive team. She wonders if Lute could be if his life has been different? She can't worry about that now as she's now coming under a brutal attack it's all out, there is nothing held back here. Maya's also without her rifle which limits her options quite a bit. The Pokemon unload their attacks, she's caught with the energy blast of pure darkness she screams it burns into her, it's very effective on her like she was weak to something like that?
Maya's still held and she can't moves due to the mental power and the flame just makes it worse. Soon she's now being drenched which puts the fiures out. That's not all as shots come in and Maya is hit hard she's burned, bleeding, and is drenched. She has been through hell and she's on her last legs if this fails she's going to be down and out of it for good. She's got no rifle in reach so she's got to use magic.
"So this is ... it."
She channels blue fire burns out of her body into one card, then another and finally a third.
"To think I have to use this..."
The strain is clearly on Mayas body as she's casting the spell terrible forces are brought to bear its the only thing she thinks might have a chance to stop Lute and his team. IF she misses just one of them it's over and she knows it. Lighting crackles about her body and then a vortex starts to form in the battle zone and starts to get bigger no light seems to escape it as Maya casts.
"Black....hole..."
The spell keeps going there's a danger that Lute and his partners are going to drawn in and face horrible crushing force, it's not a true one but it's powerful it's also pulling other bits of train into it as well.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"And ... I don't know what Maya just did to conjure that," Yuna calls out, half-reflexively climbing further away from the fight, "but she just conjured a black hole to try and capture Lute and his whole team in a gravitational singularity!! Neither fighter is holding back, but if that didn't knock Lute and his team out, I don't see how Maya can have anything left after a spell like that one!!"
- Lute (188) has posed:
It's willpower alone that gets Lute through this. His feet drag along the ground as he's pulled in towards the Black Hole. His Pokemon are doing similar. Some of them are having more trouble. The Raichu is a bit of a glass cannon and agility fiend. It is pulled straight into the Black Hole. This will make things hard. If he just keeps resisting, he'll lose. He has to strike back. But, ranged attacks will be sucked into the Black Hole... Unless...
"IMIMA! Do you have anything left?"
An iron sound comes from Imima. It sounds like metal bending, creaking, and rubbing against eachother. Lute seems to take it for a vague affirmative.
"Turn to the right... A bit more... And... FIRE!"
Imima turns its body, while pressing itself against the ground. It's metalic shell is crumpling a bit in a few spots, due to the gravity. It can survive, at least. A Cannon Shell is fired. Lute is taking a guess based on the pull. This will be a miracle shot if it hits. But, the shot is fired /away/ from the Black Hole... AIming to use its gravity to pull the cannon shell straight back at Maya.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"And ... it looks like Lute has SOMEthing left! I saw Raichu go flashing past -" And yes, Yuna may be trying to put extra distance between her and the fight - but she's still watching enough to do her job. "- but Imima's still got her cannons, and she arcs a volley around the gravity well to try and take out Maya! Both fighters are bringing it right down to the wire, folks! One wrong step, one missed guess, and the fight will be over; last fighter standing advances to the next round, and neither of them is giving an inch!!"
- Maya has posed:
Maya expected a fight and a half but nothing quite like this, Lute is not relenting he's taking things that could rip a tank a part and he keeps coming. Will, sometimes it's the most powerful thing in the universe. She sees he' still standing with a few of his allies. Maya attempts to move but she can't fully dodge she's too weakened by all of her injuries and the strain of casting Black Hole. The Dark energy beam from earlier didn't help matter much either. The shot scores a hit the blast sends her off her feet again.
She's struggling to get back on her feet now and she looks at Lute, she's got one last card in her hand she focuses, she has a lot of power yes, but she can only channel so much at once and the Black Hole strained that a lot. She can manage one last spell she focus sending several pillars of water at Lute and his remaining comrades.
- Lute (188) has posed:
Lute falls to his knees as the Black Hole fades. He smirks at Maya. He beat her before, but today, she wins. He'll have to get back at her for this, eventually. But, the water comes in towards him, and his Pokemon. The blast strikes all of them, sending them flying in all directions.
Lute lays on the ground. He's unable to move, though still concious. He just lays there, looking up to the sky for a bit. Smiling.
He'll need to be healed. But, at least he got this far.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"There she is - somehow Maya is *STILL* on her feet!!" exclaims Yuna. "She's taken everything Lute's allies can dish out, she's withstood the stress of the black hole she herself conjured ... and she's still got enough in reserve to cast one more spell! Looks like a water strike - AND LUTE IS DOWN! The referee is counting it ... MAYA WINS AND ADVANCES TO THE NEXT ROUND OF BRACKET B!!! A hard-fought match by both competitors ends in Maya's win!!"
She almost feels bad for Lute; he really did go all-out and he hung in there something fierce ... but she's still kind of glad Maya won. More than either of those, though, it was an exciting match from her perspective; she's hoping that carried over for the viewers to enjoy through her commentary. For now, though, Yuna flits back to face one of the nearby cameras. "And there you have it, everyone - an awesome, all-out match between two really impressive fighters! There's a reason why both Lute and Maya have stayed active as Elites for this long, and we just had a great chance to watch them duking it out once again! Congratulations to Lute for a hard-fought bout, and congratulations to Maya for taking it all and coming out the winner!"
- Maya has posed:
Maya is now on her last legs she starts t slump she can't do more than keep on one kene as she's just about in the same state that Lute is. She barely stays on one knee she's lucid enough however to call for a medial pick up. Hopefully for both of them, it was a hell of a fight and she's going to be out of it for a while. She'll worry about things later when the hurting ... stops.
