Date of Scene: | 11 January 2016 |
Location: | Hikari Sea Port |
Synopsis: | Nagato debriefs Momoyo and ends up challenging her. |
Cast of Characters: | Nagato, 928 |
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
It was very hard to make Momoyo dead tired. Her stamina was virtually endless, the risk of cleaning for her was more sheer boredom and time to scheme more mischief than it was to tire her out. Regardless, after cleaning nearly the entire base over the last two days for disrupting training that badly and the meal at Mamiya's, she finally came in to the office with what little she had packed up for enlistment. She was going back to her school life... and seeking out more opponents to fight. Preferably Fed, but she did not specifically ask to be pitted against the Abyssals. Over the short period of time, it seemed as if she had gained at least a little bit of respect for her Admiral.
Mostly when she got into your office, she looked... bored. Listless. It was probably getting closer to time when she would be seeking out another huge brawl to pick or schedule her next challenge, but for those that were just getting to know the woman it was always a painful sight to see such a young girl so eager to practically throw her life away, not due to apathy but sheer thrill-seeking and competition. Nevertheless her constant habit of getting assigned manual labor aside (of which she was remarkably productive over the past week, hardly the most efficient but since she could be worked longer than some of the fleet girls it evened out rapidly), she was coming in from having made a decently good impression for being constantly out of step. It was written all over her face that she just looked tired and expected debriefing to be... complicated.
Her affection for the Admiral was present, and visible, but not altogether as boisterous. Notably, the challenge to spar had never come since she set foot on base. Now, her red eyes sat meeting yours with even a half-decent salute before slumping down into the chair to fill out debriefing paperwork until her next draft.
- Nagato has posed:
Papers were strewn across the Admiral's desk, a pen in hand as she makes a few notes. When Momoyo made her way in, Nagato's eyes break from the paperwork to meet her own eyes. "Good of you to join me, Kawakami." she starts, setting the pen down and leaning back in her chair. "Over the past week, you've been doing well in the Fleet and the previous training shows you have the aptitude for it all, however, I want to say at this point, I'm going to let you go from the Fleet for now. You've done your duty and have not complained about it." as far as the Admiral's aware that is.
"I do not intend to make this debriefing complicated, so I will get straight to the point. For someone to be invisible to the Union, you have a lot of capability, something I can respect. Though your methods, however, are... ill fitting at times." Nagato turns around in her chair and looks out the window, still daylight but the sun was setting rapidly... "And for the work I've given you while on base, you've completed them to standards that I would hold my girls to."
"My question to you, before I fill the rest of my paperwork and revoke your radio access for now, is if the offer was given again, would you rejoin the Fleet as a Destroyer?" Nagato's head turns and an eye looks towards Kawakami, "Of course, you're free to leave at any time, you are not beholden to my Fleet at all."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
She shrugs her shoulders a bit. "I might. I learned some things." she replies. She was honest, but the tension in the room from the first day she arrived completely cocky was missing for the moment. "You can try to draft me any time you want. Like any other Chancer, I might find a way not to be around if I don't feel like it." That was a half-hearted joke, but it was not complicated for Multiversal citizens to submit reasons to appeal drafts.
"It's about time I went to find another huge fight... so I can feel alive again. My mind grows hazy and everything gets boring if I don't." she explains, simply. In many alarming ways the girl was not that far different from those claimed by the waves now. Her pen taps on the desk rather than filling out the forms further, but something other than the signature releasing her from service must have been on her mind a moment before she continued scribbling. "I've got a friend waiting for my service to end so I can train her anyway, Yang, and probably a bunch of friends back home that wondered where I ran off to." she admits. The way she admitted it clued in vaguely to complex feelings about a boy. While not dishonest, they were clearly not for discussion. "...So what were you hoping to accomplish by drafting me besides the... stuff on paper?" She must have been taking a stab at something other than the stiff formality and stated mission requirements out of curiosity.
- Nagato has posed:
Nagato nods, turning back around to face Kawakami. "The next time won't be a draft." she comments, "It will be an offer to sail with the fleet." she nods, "Complete with your own room and board and ful freedoms on base." she gives a bit of a shrug at the joke attempt, but when its mentioned about finding another huge fight, she nods, "That's the specific reason I wanted to see you in my fleet for the time being, to see how you fight given some restrictions, however, I would like to see more of you, up close, when you're fighting so I can get a good natured read on you."
Nagato continues to listen, hmming softly, "Of course, your service is done here and I thank you for it. As for what I hoped to accomplish is classified information only for my second and third in command." Nagato's face is stern before she scribbles something on a peice of paper. "To put it bluntly, I wanted to see how you did under unfamiliar conditions and to see how my Destroyers could handle a submarine that wasn't a submarine."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
She snickers a bit. "I'll keep my mouth shut to Akitsumaru, then." she quips, filling out the remainder of her half of the paperwork. "I think you scared the crap out of them..." she muses idly. It was really Momoyo that took it to the brink of way-too-far, but while her understanding of long term strategy suffered in school, her short-term tactical leadership and ability to draw fire while under pressure turned out to be decent. "If I have more fights in Njorun, you're welcome to watch remotely... I'm guessing you'll be an Officer in High Command before too long." she sits back, tossing her long silky hair as she's done with the paperwork.
Her similarly red eyes meet yours, but it showed even in her bearing that she was treating you with more respect. There was less snark and sarcasm, proper reciting of your rank, she quit slouching at least privately around you... it was as if you'd beaten her in hand to hand combat. If anything, she was starting to view the Admiral like her grandfather. For the time being though, she continued to look you in the eye, waiting for dismissal for the last time at the moment despite the signed paperwork releasing her. The awkward silence began to hang in the air in the room, as if she were expecting more but didn't know how to articulate her thoughts as she watched you pace about.
- Nagato has posed:
"Most of the destroyers and the submarines were wary of you when you did that, it's definately unconventional." Nagato mutters, "But sudden, unconventional tactics serve to help with the fleet." she picks her head up and turns to stare at Kawakami, "I have never given it any consideration to enlist in the Union's army properly. I do have my hands full with the Fleet here, even with two other command battleships to assist." a pause, "I'll consider your expectations, however."
With the papers being signed, she makes her way to a filing cabinet that looks quite old and beat up, shuffling a few things in the cabinet before putting the completed paperwork in. "Kawakami, you're dismissed from the Fleet." a turn towards the girl and a nod is given, "There is, however, one last thing I want to ask of you. I would rather see your style of fighting up close and personal. As such..." she looks towards the girl with a firm gaze, "I would like to have our own duel. I believe it will be beneficial to both of us once it's done."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
"Hmhmhm~." she chuckles, as the mirth and fire returns to her eyes, even a touch of hostility. "I thought you'd never ask, grandma..." she murmurs, though she meant it literally. "You know how many of your girls wanna see that...? My fights always get huge audiences." she tilts her chin a bit. The affection wasn't gone from her voice, it just changed was all.
"What titles do you hold in combat, Nagato? I'm undefeated... and known as the Goddess of Martial Arts, Goddess of Battle in my world... some variation thereof." she waves her hand in a circle indicating some variety among the rumor mill. "Momoyo Kawakami of the North, they call me... I'm assuming we'd have to modify the Ring of Philosophy's terrain to allow you plenty of ocean to navigate in." She wasn't dismissive at all, and was even angling for a fair all-out no holds barred sparring match.
- Nagato has posed:
"Most of my girls." she replies, though the 'grandma' comment gets her just slightly. "I hold no titles in combat, however you are speaking to Nagato, Flagship of the Northern Force and one of the Big Seven. As for being undefeated, I care not for that. This is a sparring session but I do not intend for you to take it easy." Nagato's knuckles crack a bit, "There will be no need to modify the Ring of Philosophy's terrain, I'm equally capable of fighting on land."
"I do expect a good session and I trust you will give it." especially after all the work Nagato's given Kawakami. "I'll let you choose the date as repartation for all the work I've had you do."
- Momoyo Kawakami (928) has posed:
"Surely, you know I don't hold back." she stands up a bit, perhaps slightly giddy, but her hand lands on her hip again as her other hand pulls her duffel bag over her shoulder. "And here I thought I was gonna get another lecture... I look forward to seeing you in three day's time in Njorun. I know it'll take time for you to herd all those cats into the stands." she teases about the other girls, reaching out to push your shoulder playfully. "Seriously... you can just call me in as reinforcements if you need to. I can crush a flagship." she quips confidently, waving a hand over her shoulder dismissively to signal letting Akitsumaru know she was heading back to the mainland where the Gate was located.
- Nagato has posed:
Nagato just gives a brief nod towards Kawakami, three days time, huh? "NO more lectures from me. Now get going, Akitsumaru cannot wait all day." With Akitsumaru standing outside, she leads Kawakami off towards the docks and sets sail for the mainland to deposit her near the Gate and to leave when she's ready. Before she does leave, "Kawakami, sir. Good luck."
