Date of Scene: | 21 January 2015 |
Location: | Tomoeda-865 |
Synopsis: | Eiko comes by during closing hours to make a request and get fitted. |
Cast of Characters: | Tomoyo Daidouji, 650 |
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
It's actually late afternoon in Tomoeda, with the sun painting the overcast sky pinks and oranges. A slight clammy chill hangs in the air, suggesting impending rain. Tomoyo's Boutique still has the 'OPEN' sign in the door window, but everywhere else nearby is closed... is this really the best time?
- Eiko (650) has posed:
Kono Eiko keeps her own schedule, as the privilege of an adventurer. (It was also here privilege as a NEET, though in that case the benefit was dubious.) Basically this just means she shows up at unpredictable points and will scorn anyone questioning her 2pm breakfast of hot pockets. It also means that this is the point at which she decides she's sufficiently free to finally get in to see Tomoyo about that job.
She probably should have called ahead and booked an appointment of some sort, but--oh well! Already here. And the sign says 'OPEN,' so it had better be. She pushes (and possibly, then, pulls) at the door some slight difficulty, as she is carrying *two* backpacks and a non-folding umbrella.
"Hey! I'm here!" Helpfully.
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
At present, the store is empty, and dark! Although, the automatic lights kick in when Eiko enters, lighting the purple carpet, the wooden shelves and the curious materials placed on them. A thumping sound can be heard from the stairs behind the counter as Tomoyo comes down, looking a little dishevelled and tired.
"Ah! Hello there. Uh, we're actually usually closed at this time... but, well. I'm here, and so are you, so who cares~? Welcome to Tomoyo's Boutique, how can I help you?" she asks with a sweet smile and a bow.
The two backpacks get a bit of a raised eyebrow, but nothing else. Tomoyo is a professional, after all! It does not do to let her customer's eccentricities daze you, especially when you plan to cater to Elites.
- Eiko (650) has posed:
Eiko waves her hand up high. The one not grabbing an umbrella, obviously. Still a bit awkward for the two backpacks. "Yo! I'm Eiko. And you're Tomoyo--great! I called you about this stuff, and you said to come in and get measured." She walks on in--she's rather tall, as it turns out, so it's a noticeably long-legged gait, even ignoring the fact that she's significantly older--and looks for somewhere to drop one of her two packs down on. As soon as she does, she'll reach in.
At that point, it will become apparent that the backpack is stuffed full of something that looks and moves like silk, with pieces ranging from an ice-blue to black.
"Frostweave! That's what I learned it's called, anyway. Sure was a lot of ice-stuff out that way. Pretty sure it's all magic, too. Dunno what kind. Figure that out later."
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"Ah, of course! Hello Eiko, thank you for coming~" It doesn't even occur to Tomoyo that Eiko just decided to show up when she would typically be closed. She's too sweet to fret about stuff like that! The counter is as good a place as any to put her backpack down, and when she does, Tomoyo peeks in.
"Oh! Providing your own material huh~?" She rubs her chin as she examines the fabric. "You ah, don't know what it does? Are you sure it's even safe to wear?" She gently pokes at the fabric, looking from it to Eiko, as if measuring her already.
- Eiko (650) has posed:
"Yeah!" Bright and cheerful, that response. Grinning, even when she adds, "Lots of guys were wearing it! They were all dead, though. I mean, undead. I'm sure that's totally unrelated." She pauses. "If you kill an undead, does that make them redead?"
Pause.
Shrug.
"I'm gonna bet it's the kind of magic that helps people deal with living in a hellish, snow-covered wasteland, 'cause otherwise I don't know how those guys manage."
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"Ah, right..." She's not too sure how to deal with someone who talks so cavalierly about butchering corpses but... if they were undead, maybe she was putting them out of their misery? Who knows. "Well then, cold resistance eh? I can certainly do something with this."
Pushing the backpack aside, she takes a sketch pad out from under the counter and flips to a clean page, quickly drawing a front view and a back view of a female figure. "So, are there any styles or fashions you particularly like? Any articles of clothing you want me to make sure I include~?"
- Eiko (650) has posed:
"Stuff I like? Cool stuff, obviously. S'long as it looks cool, no problem. Ah, gotta be practical, though. Probably gonna have to wear just about anything either under or over something else. So if I can wear it under something, good, and if not, if I can wear it over something, still good. Probably be different if we were talking heavy armor but this stuff is pretty light, ya know? Don't really care which way it goes so long as it's flex-equip, like."
She digs in the pack for a few moments, possibly to try to find just how much color variety there is in here. "Oh yeah, frost resistance is good, but I can use just about anything. I got a sword for swording things, and I've got the black magic. Magical types usually go for robes, don't they? Seems like a pain, though. Wouldn't want one of those. If you can't do backflips in it, it's not a good outfit." For all that talking, she didn't do much of actually answering the question.
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
And there it is, the typical vagueness of an unfashionable customer~ Ah well, its Tomoyo's job to translate such vague requests into something salient that meets the customer's demands. Still, these are quite tricky. Something that can be worn with other outfits, is flexible, but likely, also provide good coverage. Taping a pencil to her chin, she starts to draw.
Quickly she draws a hooded cloak, one that would cover Eiko's whole body when worn, with a quick-release clasp in case she has a sudden need for acrobatics. But then she does something else on a new figure. This one is a trenchcoat, ankle length and quite snug.
"Okay, here are some options for wearing it over your clothes. But for under..." She does two new figures! On the first, she draws a sleeveless undershirt and a pair of briefs. But on the other, she draws a camisole, some panties and a set of thigh-high stockings. "These are if you would prefer to wear them under whatever outfit you choose. This one is plain, utilitarian, and the second is if you want them to be cute as well as functional~"
- Eiko (650) has posed:
Eiko is, naturally, oblivious to Tomoyo's difficulties, but she's impressed by the speed with which the ideas make it onto paper. "Oh, neat. Yeah, cloak could be a problem if I need to take it off. Don't want to lose anything. Stuff you drop on a battlefield tends to get damaged. Trenchcoat would work. Lots of badasses wear trenchcoats, I've noticed. Most of 'em don't do a lot of acrobatics, but I'm not a flippin' ninja, either."
The second set has her staring for a moment, then breaking out in laughter. "Well! Yeah, I guess that /does/ fit what I asked for. But man, I didn't think I'd be coming in today to get panties fitted." She's not done laughing, but gets it under control enough to continue. "Okay, alright, so--yeah, as long as it does what it's supposed to, either of that's fine, too. Stockings are cool, I guess. And if I want to wear something heavier later, might be better to have the light stuff under than over. Though at this point, I figure I should ask, how well do you work the whole 'magic armor' angle, anyway? Can you try to make it fit whatever effect you want, to some extent?"
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"I thought so~ I just wanted to give you options," Tomoyo says with a smile. When Eiko starts laughing about not expecting panties, Tomoyo just gives a bemused shrug. "Well, you didn't specify~" She just sounds to be teasing though, not actually aggravated.
But, when she asks about how Tomoyo works, she blushes a little and rubs her arms. "I, uh... I have no magic of my own. Any special properties of my outfits are caused by the materials they're made from. I plan to hire enchanters somewhere down the line, but I only opened recently, and I can't justify the expense yet."
- Eiko (650) has posed:
Eiko snaps her fingers. "Damn. I did ask for a tailor, not an enchanter, so I guess that's on me. I guess I could always get some stuff worked on later, but in that case, better leave room for it to be worked on." She tries, not terribly hard, and fails to suppress some snrking. "I can just see myself, now, taking some undies in to get hexed up."
She rolls her shoulders, then continues, "Okay! Can't count on low-coverage doing much if it's just the materials, then, so let's go with the trenchcoat option." Finger-snap-point. "Not a bad idea, otherwise, just can't be sure it'd work, and it's my hide on the line and if I do stuff that doesn't work. You get me. Coat, though. That'll work. Well as anything can, anyway. So, what's next?"
- Tomoyo Daidouji has posed:
"Coat it is then!" Tomoyo seems to recover quickly from her disappointment as she circles the trechcoat. With a small grin, she takes out a roll of measuring tape and indicates the changing booth behind Eiko.
"Well, I can't make it for you unless I know your sizes~ Go in there, undress and let's get measuring!" She pulls the tape tight and smiles.
