Location: | The Foothills |
Synopsis: | There is a city fair in a small town and people are invited to take part! |
Cast of Characters: | 437, Duke, 773, 796 |
- Duke has posed:
Out in the open lands of the Foothills, one of the villages right off the main road is having a bit of fun time it would seem, as they opened up a part of their humble village to the Fairgrounds! Different kinds of carnival rides can be found here, along with different types of foods, drinks, and even games that allow you to win a prize.
Some of the stores have also kept their doors open near the Fairgrounds, open up freely to allow guests of all kinds to browse their wares of toys, fresh baked goods, and even every day needs. The people are all friendly and all the kids seem to be having a great time.
The only trouble may be the weather as some clouds have started to move in, but hopefully it wont decide to rain on this summer fun, just given some nice cloudy shade to all the village people and outsiders alike.
One such outside actually is quiet an odd one. He is around four foot in height and is like a bit of a dino dragon, with his white underbelly and red scales that has some black markings across it. Those gold eyes scan the crowds and he moves between the going and comings of people.
His ear fins twitch slightly as he tries to make sure his satchel stays close, which looks a bit weighed down by whatever he may have inside. Everyone once and awhile, some little kid will trying to pet him, yeah-- he doesn't mind them.. and in return, he reaches into that satchel sometimes to give them a piece of candy.
Actually after the last one, he pulls out a sucker himself and noms on that with his sharp teeth, before just letting it rest in his mouth. Then finds himself a nice barrel to sit down on in the shade as he gnaws away on the sucker.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah asked for a job that would help her get used to the Multiverse. She said she'd take anything! So, Somehow she ended up escorting a couple of kids out to a Fair in a rural area of some kind for another. At least she assumes they're kids. The Girl she has her doubts about and the Boy is green with antenna. But that's all normal here right?
- Banjo (773) has posed:
Relatively normal! Banjo is as normal as you can get for a Namekian, the youth with green skin and traditional garb on thoroughly enjoying his time not only with Sarah, but with Annie. Heck, it was nice just being off the Lookout and not doing chores. "Look at all the green trees and grass! It's all so nice. Oooh, rides!" His white eyes had been peeking out of the window for most of the trip. And now that they're out, heading for the carnival, Banjo shuffles with a bit of an increased tempo.
"This is gonna be so great. Thanks heaps for taking us out, Ms. Rogers!" The green alien beams up at Sarah, before flicking his thumb up at Annie.
- Annie Sandberg (437) has posed:
It hasn't been that long since Annie went to Tony Stark's party at Disney World, and she hadn't been able to do nearly as much there as she would have liked; so, she was eager for a chance to visit another place full of rides and games. A quaint example of a fair by comparison, to be sure, but Annie was excited all the same to visit, especially since she had someone to share the experience with. She didn't know Banjo or Sarah until now, but friendships have to start somewhere, right?
Returning Banjo's thumbs-up with a grin, she looked around the area again before spotting Duke, and waving in his direction. "Hi!" she called, glad to see him. Him, she'd met before! Even though they'd only met briefly, Annie was glad to see someone familiar here. That made it even better!
- Duke has posed:
The red dragon lizard watches everyone go by, though when he spots two kids and a woman, he takes the sucker out his mouth with his large claws. Those gold eyes studying them for a bit. They were not the people of this area and they had that smell.
One of his ear fins perks up slightly, before he hms a bit. Then pops the sucker back into his mouth, before he hops off.
Moving between the crowds, the four foot lizard comes up to Annie, Sarah, and Banjo. Though at the time, he doesn't realize he and Annie had spoken before; they they never have met face to face-- at least not by his memory. Though when she calls out to him with a wave, he does know her voice, "Hey Annie!"
Once the Guilmon X gets up closer to them he gives them a warm smile, before speaking up; He is actually pretty good at balancing that sucker so it stays right where it needs too. "Hi there~!" He places up his claw paw in a friendly manner. Those teeth grinning, "Would you guys like some candy?"
If he was doing this out of his own free will or being paid is anyone's guess really.
His gold eyes then look over to Annie. "Its good to see you again. Been awhile, hasn't it?" He then looks between Sarah and Banjo. "Also I'm Duke. Pleasure to meet you both!"
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Candy? Should Sarah let them have Candy!? Do these kids have any special dietary needs!? No.. She's over-thinking this, Candy's got to be find in moderation, right?
The Girl takes a breath then returns Banjo's smile, "I'm Glad I could be here for you Banjo." She's mostly sincere, part of her's a little annoyed with getting stuck with babysitting duty, but she does her best not to let it show.
She offers a hand to the Dragon, "I'm Sarah, it's nice to meet you. Duke. May I ask what you're celebrating today? and ah.. where exactly this is?" Her cheeks flush a little at the question.
- Banjo (773) has posed:
Booths squelch across the soft grass as the trio make their way to the carnival proper. The sounds of kids screaming on the rides fills his sensitive ears, causing the youngster to wince a bit in pain.
"Hi." Banjo greets in a friendly manner back to Duke, studying the Digimon with a degree of fascination. "My name's Banjo. Good to meet you too, Duke. Are you... a dinosaur?" He asks, before shaking his head at the offer for candy. "Oh, no. That's fine thanks. I don't eat." Said casually and matter-of-factly, rounded out by a cheery tilt of his head. The small antenna quiver and pulse as he senses the energies around.
Somewhat quizically, he turns to Sarah. "You don't know where we are?" He asks, sounding amused by the mere thought.
- Annie Sandberg (437) has posed:
"Yep!" Annie said eagerly. "It's great to see you again too. And... um, sure, I'll have some candy." Annie doesn't have to worry about any of the negative effects of candy, but she tries not to overindulge around other kids, to avoid setting a bad example. But, if Banjo doesn't eat at all, there's no danger of that happening, is there? She laughs a bit at the Namekian boy's question of whether Banjo is a dinosaur, but she realizes she's actually not particularly sure herself what he is.
- Duke has posed:
Duke looks over to Sarah as she introduces herself and then reaches up to meet her hand, before giving it a gentle shake with his three clawed paw hand. "Nice to meet you! Um, as for what this is all about." He rubs the back of his neck. "I don't have the faintest of ideas.. eh-hehe."
Duke then ahems softly. "But people are having fun, so I offered to give out candy to kids! In return I'll get some credits and maybe some fresh goods to take back to a friend of mine." His tail moves side to side as he talks. "As for where you are-- this is one of the villages here in The Foothills. There are several different villages and towns at here. I think there is a rumor kids stay kids here, but I can't remember." He says taping the tip of his muzzle in thought.
The Guilmon X then looks over to Banjo. His ear fins droop a bit when he says he doesn't eat, before he tilts his head. "You don't eat?" He seems a touch confused by this, before he perks up with a soft smile and then takes the sucker out of his mouth, twirling it around in his claws. "As for what I am. I am a Digimon! A Digital Monster!" Duke then puts on a bigger smile. "Right now I'm a Guilmon X, only cause its easier to save up energy... and this place being as busy as it is..."
Yeah, he needed to keep his energy up encase something was to happen. Not like anything would, but he rather be safe then sorry. You never know when something /could/ happen and he may be needed.
He looks Banjo up and down for a moment, before he walks around the youngster. Then sniffs at him, "If you don't mind me asking in return--- what are you?"
Duke then looks over to Annie and grin. Looks like she also got her answer as well to what Duke was. He does however pop the sucker back in his mouth, then take the satchel off. He easily opens it up to show all types of candy inside. Suckers, ring-pops, gummy bears, twizzlers, and tootsie rolls! "Take what you like!" He tells Annie as his ear fins fully perk up.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah was happy that Banjo asked the question so she didn't have to, but the answer didn't help much. "What's a Digimon?" She asks with a bit of hesitation. "You don't look pixelated to me..? Computers where I'm from were either very primitive or so advanced they could read your thoughts.. long story."
At least the kids have been a lot better behaved than she expected. She filches a Tootsie Roll when she thinks no one's looking.
- Banjo (773) has posed:
"Digital... monster?" Banjo blinks in confusion, looking at Duke a bit more steadily. "I... don't really have much of a clue what that is. But you look friendly enough, so we'll just roll with that." When he's circled, Banjo just watches him curiously. "I'm a native from the planet Namek." He replies. "A place far away from here. We don't eat. We only need water to survive, and even then we don't need it very often. I'm actually here as part of an internship. Learning under another namekian; the current Guardian of the Earth." Banjo's hands fasten onto the red sash that is tied taught about his waist, his brown shoes digging a bit more into the ground. He shrugs then.
"But! I get a day off today. And what better way to spend it than with Annie and Miss Rogers, at a fair? Exploring new things?"
A small laugh escapes his lips when Sarah also reveals her ignorance, though his attention once more goes to the activities available. "Have you gone on many of the rides, Duke?"
- Annie Sandberg (437) has posed:
"Well, it's definitely a fair," Annie observes. That probably seems obvious to everyone! "I guess it doesn't have to be for any special occasion though. Maybe they just have them here every so often. Some places do that!" And those are the kinds of places Annie likes. Indeed, she likes fairs in general. Maybe at least in part because it reminds her of the stories Magus would tell her about Crono's journey to defeat Lavos, which apparently started out at a fair much like this one.
Annie wasn't particularly familiar with Digimon, but she nodded at his explanation. She'd heard a lot of stories about digital beings taking on physical existence, rather than controlling machine bodies the way she did; the Pokemon known as Porygon was one well-known example. She figured something similar was behind Duke and others of his kind.
Annie picks out a lollipop from the bag and pops it into her mouth.
She listens to Banjo's explanation with a look of curiosity. "The guardian of the Earth is from another planet? How'd that happen?"
- Duke has posed:
Duke looks over to Sarah and grins a bit. Oh he wants to show off now, even worse when Banjo also shows a bit of not sure what to make of a Digimon. There is a moment of a mischievous look with the thought, but it passes just as quickly. "Mmm. We Digimon came from a Digital World, but...." His voice softens a bit. "That world is long gone. It was destroyed when our..." his words are followed by a snort as he continues to speak, "...benevolent god decided time to reset everything for possible a new world out there somewhere."
Duke shrugs gently. "Most of us though, couldn't go-- so we ended up here in the Multiverse." The Guilmon X then tilts his head a bit. "In the end though, we eat, sleep, and breath like any other creature or being. So while our core is comprised of data, we are pretty much alive and whole."
Duke's tail sways side to side as he looks over to Banjo fully, watching him fix the sash and how his feet dig in. "Do you like to spar?" Odd question, but fitting if you understand Digimon. "...and as for the rides," He then looks over his shoulder, with a tail flick. "Not yet no. But I hear the barrel tumbler is fun. It apparently lifts you up, spins you around--- planting you to the edges and the floor drops out! At least until they get ready to bring you back down."
Duke looks back to Banjo. "This is actually my first time being around a Fair..," He scratches the back of his smooth scaled neck. "I'll probably check out some of the rides tomorrow."
Duke glances over to Annie once she takes the candy and then closes up the satchel, throwing it back over his shoulder once more. She asks Banjo a good question really and this causes the Digimon's ear fins to perk up. Awaiting the answer eagerly.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah winces a bit at the explanation, "Benevolent huh?" She murmurs. "I hope most of you made it out alright?" She looks back and forth between Duke and Banjo at the Sparing question, "You'll go easy on him right? He's just a kid!" She says worriedly.
She grins an bit and nods in agreement with Annie, "Yeah, why's the protector of earth from another planet?"
- Banjo (773) has posed:
"Before Dende, it was Kami. He was the first Namek. The previous Guardians had become corrupt, or so the stories tell me. I guess Earth is better guarded by someone that cares for it, but can sit objectively? I dunno. We can also create Dragonballs. People on Earth like having Dragonballs, so it all works out." Banjo shrugs. It's the only explanation he really has. "I'll ask him though, Annie. It's a good question. I'm sure there are other reasons than the one I just gave."
Padding about on the ground, Banjo frowns a little at Duke's tale. "Sorry to hear about your world, Duke. Our planet was destroyed too. We had to move to a new one. Still, I think you're really interesting! So you're like a computer thing... but real. It's a bit weird. I like it though. It's different."
At Duke's question, Banjo seems to hesitate. "We're pacifists. Mostly. If we fight, it's only because we have to. So no, I don't really do any spars or anything."
The smile on the green alien widens when he hears about the ride. "That... sounds AMAZING! I can't wait to go on it! Do you know who much it costs to go on them, Duke? Or are they all free to go on?" He hopes for the latter, but you can never count on that being the case.
Shuffling over to Sarah, he pats her leg a bit with some comfort. "Don't worry, Miss Rogers. I'm not really allowed to do any of that spar stuff. The training plan I'm on is pretty strict. Just take me on some of the epic rides though. That'll be great fun!"
- Annie Sandberg (437) has posed:
"That's a sad story," Annie says to Duke as he tells of the loss of his homeworld. "But it seems like you found a new home, so that's good."
Annie nods, accepting Banjo's explanation, incomplete as it is. She smiles a bit as he mentions being a pacifist. "I'm the same way," she says. "I know how to fight. I used to feel like it was fun, but... not anymore. I'd rather help out people in need in other ways than fighting."
- Duke has posed:
Duke ears fins droops a little at Banjo's reply about sparring. "Aww... I love to spar. Its a good way to keep training and to keep getting better." They perk up a little as he looks to Sarah. "Don't worry! Like this, I'm pretty sure you could do worse to me then him!"
The Guilmon X then looks back to Banjo, "I am also sorry about your world as well, but hey, like me. You seem to be doing pretty well here." Duke then smiles. "And making new friends always helps. The Multiverse is a great place. Lots of places, people, faces. It never gets old!"
Duke then hrms about the rides. "I think kids are free and its just adults who have to pay." He points then with his claw finger talon at the booth. "You talk to him and he gives you tickets! I think the only ones not free are the prize games and food."
He notices by this point his sucker is all gone and pouts a bit. Now just chewing on the stick like someone with a toothpick. He doesn't really respond further on the pacifism, beyond a soft, "...Pacifism can be alright... at the right times." Its really all Duke /can/ say on it. He was a combat Digimon. It was in his code to fight and it was already hard enough at times fighting off his attribute programming.
Though give events-- he now understand why he has the will to do so... just he wishes he could remember it all himself, instead of by hearsay. Though he does give a nod to Annie regarding finding a n new home. A few of them really in truth, but that doesn't the yearning to see his /world/ again.
"Well!" Duke says with a bright smile. "You guys enjoy the fair! I need to go hand out some more candy then get ready to head back home." He then turns on his right foot with a bit of a spin, then a claw victory sign. "Hee! Maybe when we meet up again. I can show you guys one of my other stages! Given I have four of them, but for another day."
With that he gives a wave of his paw. "Take care and when you find out more Banjo. I'd love to hear it too!" Then the Guilmon X goes to wonder off back into the crowds once more.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah calls after Duke, "If you feel like sparring later, I could use the exercise!" She offers hopefully. "Alright, you guys ride the rides all you want. They.. wouldn't be all that exciting for me. but I'll have fun watching you." She smiles, "If someone asks you to pay for something, point them at me and I'l take care of it,
- Banjo (773) has posed:
With Duke making his leave of the area to give more candy to kids, Banjo licks his lips -- excitement building at the notion of riding some of these beastly rides. A fist pumps up into the air as he cries aloud. "Ooou!"
This moment of excitement then shifts to Sarah, the young Namek looking up at her with a bit of wonder. "You're a fighter as well, Miss Rogers? What sort of fighting do you do?" He squints at the female, before shrugging. Whether he gets the reply or not, he's off to one of the more... exhilarating looking rides. Definitely the one that looks the most 'dangerous', if you were to rank rides like that.
- Annie Sandberg (437) has posed:
Annie probably doesn't like the thrill-rides quite as much as Banjo does, but she follows him anyway. While she has evolved far beyond her original programming, much of it still remains; and thus she still gets a sense of fulfillment and purpose from seeing other children happy while interacting with her. So whatever would make Banjo happy would make Annie happy as well, even if she might rather be doing something else.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
"Something like that." Sarah answers nervously, "My father was a soldier. He taught me to fight for what I believe in, and to protect people who couldn't do the same." There was probably more to her story, But Banjo's already running off towards the most exciting ride he can find. She tags along protectively, buying tickets if needed, but declines to actually go on the rides herself. She takes watching her charges quite seriously, though she stops to sample the food or peek in a shop when she's sure they're safe.
- Banjo (773) has posed:
Banjo appears to lead the charge and attends a host of thrill and not-so-thrill rides. The Namekian youngster enjoys them greatly, sometimes screaming with the other kids or trying his best to avoid dizziness on the ones that flip over. For a being that can fly, and one that has some pretty tough endurance, the standard fears don't really apply to him. Yet still, he enjoys them for what they area.
Eventually, after exhausting nearly all of the rides, he opts to take a break. "Did you guys need to eat or anything?" He queries, stretching his arms and legs out. Some of the cabins were a bit cramped! "We can take a break if you guys wanted to eat some fair food. I've heard it's pretty tasty."
- Annie Sandberg (437) has posed:
By the end of the last ride, Annie was actually starting to get into the experience for herself, and not just for Banjo's sake. The haunted mine cart ride in particular was pretty neat, if nowhere near the production values of similar rides in her home world. But much like a human child, all the excitement did use up a lot of her energy- and food happened to be an excellent way to recharge. "Yeah," she said, stretching herself along with Banjo even though she didn't really need to do so. "Let's go get something."
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
"I'm kind of partial to those giant turkey legs myself. But I've kinda been snacking while you kids were riding." Sarah says with a sheepish grin.
She peers an Banjo, "You said you didn't eat.. but can you? and would you enjoy it? Today's about having fun and you should take the opportunity!"
- Banjo (773) has posed:
"I can eat, sure." Banjo replies to Sarah. "I just don't get the same out of it. It's like... Well, I dunno how to explain it really." He shrugs. "So tell me more about your Dad, Miss Rogers. Was he a good fighter too? And Annie! Tell me more about you. You're a robot, right?"
At this moment, his antenna twitch and he feels a message come to him telepathically. "...ugh. Sorry guys, but Dende is calling me. Something's happened at the Lookout and Dende needs my help to clean it up." HAving done his stretching, Banjo suddenly starts to lift into the sky! No tricks or wires. Just flight.
"Thanks so much for taking me out, Miss Rogers. Sorry I have to duck out so soon. Maybe you guys can tell me your stories another time?" Hovering a meter or so in the air, Banjo turns his head up. With a narrow of his eyes and grit of his teeth, the young Namekian then shoots off into the sky! He's gone like a dart, disappearing high up into the air.
