Cast of Characters: | 20, Steve Rogers, 796 |
- Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
And here they say that the Iron Man armors are fancy. Not that she can see this herself, but man this ought to be cool.
The blind girl steps in through the front doors, trusting that Sarah follows her and carries the two pieces she was given. Because Toph is already carrying lots of precious ore. Except not in the normal sense. Some people have seen Toph bend earth and metal around herself. But now she's covered from head to toe in precious purple gemstones and irridescent ore that shimmers. Only her mouth isn't covered. Sure, she could have bended it into a huge lump. But why not carry it like this?
"I think I'll go to that festival again next year," Toph asides to Sarah.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah steps in behind Toph, carrying a large chunk of gemstone under each arm. "There were too many people there for my taste, but the main event was *so* worth it!" She beams. "Maybe next year I'll know more people." She can't help but stare at Toph a little, "Doesn't that take a lot of concentration? I totally get wanting to show off, but we could've gotten a bag!"
- Steve Rogers has posed:
A motorcycle pulls up in the front drive, Steve reaching the Stark estate in Malibu just a bit behind Toph and Sarah making their arrival.. "Good evening, JARVIS," he greets the house's AI on his way in ...
And then he just takes a moment, to look over Toph and Sarah, and their respective hauls. "So ... do I want to know where you were?" he asks casually, once the moment of studying them (and Toph's new armor) is concluded.
- Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
It's clear that Sarah doesn't understand how earthbending works. "Honey, to me earthbending is as natural as breathing. I could do this in my sleep." Oh yes, Toph is rather confident about her skills.
"And why grab a bag when I can carry it like this?" she asks with a big grin, spreading her arms wide.
When Steve arrives though she gives the super soldier a brief two finger salute, still smiling. "Heya Cap! We went to this festival in another world, there were these huge sand dragons who had mineral formations on their backs! Everybody were welcome to mine these things off of them, so..." Toph spreads her arms wide around and does a little twirl, showing off the glimmering substance she is covered with, "I did! Heck, I feel generous... give one of the lumps to Cap, and you can keep the other one. Want me to bend them into anything specific?" she asks Sarah.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
"Okay I can't argue with that then." Sarah chuckles, turning towards Cap with a huge grin on her face. She holds out the two huge chunks of gems. They're probably about a hundred pounds each but she handles them like they're styrofoam. "This one's clearer, but this one's one got some chunks of metal in it. No clue what they are beyond the fact that they're not from this earth." She shrugs slightly. "I 'd love to know how they formed.. do the Sand Whales rub up against rocks over thousands of years or do they just grow right out of their backs..? or what? It certainly didn't seem to mind us mining it."
- Steve Rogers has posed:
Steve raises his eyebrows slightly, and takes the chunk of 'clearer' crystals/gems from Sarah. "Well, if they were free for the taking and you don't mind parting with one, then thank you both," he says politely - and a bit apologetically.
- Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
Toph huffs slightly. "You really think I would hand them over if I didn't mind sharing them?" Toph asks Steve. "You want me to bend it into anything for you?"
It's interesting to ponder just how the sand dragons got all this metal built up. "Maybe their hide is just nice for crystals to form and grow on?" she shrugs, then turns to Sarah. "Want your gem chunk bended into something specific, Babycap?"
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah steps out for a quick moment, grabbing place mats from the dining room so she can set her gemstone down on the table without scratching anything. She offers one to Cap as well. "Good question. Maybe a Jhen Mohran Statuette? I can't think of anything more creative right now. Tony's gonna go nuts over this stuff anyway so maybe I should wait and see what he finds out about it."
- Steve Rogers has posed:
"Looks nice enough to me in the natural state," Steve answers, taking the offered placemat, and carefully setting the hunk of gemstone(s) down on the table, with the mat underneath. "Good thinking," he adds, nodding to Sarah.
"This reminds me ... Toph, did you ever get the chance to 'look' at the second present I brought to Tony's birthday party?"
- Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
A statue of the Jhen Mohran? Toph shrugs as she follows Sarah, then steps forward, reaching both hands out. "If that is what you want...." Her gemcovered fingers move slightly, and the gem and ore sample begins to shift. There's a clear plate at the bottom, with the gemstones mimicking a field. And out of it rises a gemlike dragon, an exact miniature replica of the beast they saw in the desert. All in all it only takes Toph a few seconds.
Her mouth is set in a thin line when Steve asks his question, and she nods. "Yeah... I did." It's a specific topic indeed, but and two dimensional stuff is still a bit difficult to interpret for somebody who is used to seeing everything in three dimensions. "He has promised to take me on a trip with the bike too."
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
"That's amazing.." Sarah says breathlessly, "There's more detail in this than I remember seeing on the real thing! And I think there's some bits that were hidden under the sand too." She says in an impressed tone.
She looks curuiously at Cap for a moment, "What was this other present?"
- Steve Rogers has posed:
Although Steve is visibly impressed by the results of Toph's gembending the sculpture, he keeps most of his focus on answering Sarah. "I've been a sketch artist since I was a teenager," he explains . "Helped keep some money coming in now and then, when I needed it ... and when I didn't, it was still a good skill to keep in practice with, and a cheap hobby. But since Toph's blind, regular sketches don't do a lot for her ... so I worked out a 'process' to convert sketches into tactile surfaces that she can 'view' with her fingers and with her earthbending."
He grins briefly, "Of course, Stark helped with the first of those. This one, I had to go through other Union resources to produce - since it was a gift for Tony, commemorating his return."
- Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"Oh yeah, Cap is sketching all the time. He even sketched some stuff when we... went to my word," Toph settles for, not feeling like talking about the whole incident at the Beifong estate. "He did two sketches for me when I turned thirteen, I have them on the wall in my room," Toph says and points to where her bedroom is some hallways down. "I should get this put away in my room. Jarvis, no tattling on Goldie where I keep this!" she says loudly. "Very well, Miss Beifong. I do hope this won't end up like when you dragged clay in." The blind girl snorts. "Buster can't spread this stuff up the walls," she says pointedly.
- Sarah Rogers (796) has posed:
Sarah flops on the couch, "Man.. everyone's an Artist except me." She says in mock-jealousy. "Hey Toph, that reading glove you showed me when I spent the night a few days ago.." (oocly assuming it happened off-camera) "If Tony can whip something like that up, I bet he could modify it to read lines and colors and translate them into tactile sensations." She muses, "And Jarvis, If I'm not here when Tony sees the haul, can you make sure it gets recorded for me?" She asks with a hopeful grin.
- Toph Beifong (20) has posed:
"I dunnno, Babycap. You can always ask him, he's the genius," Toph says with a smirk. Up ahead Jarvis responds to Sarah's request. "Of course, Miss Rogers. Nothing happens in this house without me knowing." At that Toph nods and lets out a deflated sigh. "He's right."
