Unexpected Adventure
Date of Scene: 24 August 2016
Location: Techno Urbania
Synopsis: Two rogues leave Sarracenia high and dry with their stolen loot!
Cast of Characters: Sarracenia, Starlight Bandits

Sarracenia has posed:
After a rather boring day, Princess Sarracenia had departed in her airship. The ship is the size of an old Spanish galleon, but instead of sails it has huge propellers on its masts. And...someone forgot to refuel it! Sarracenia is standing on the bow of the ship looking quite annoyed as the ship makes its way down to land in Techno Urbania. Although land is a relative term, since it just comes to a stop above the appropriate docking area and lowers a rope ladder to allow the pirahna plant crew to disembark and refuel.

"And hurry up! We will never find adventure at this rate!" the princess exclaims loudly from the deck, leaning over the railing to yell at her crew as they frantically get to work. The princess hmphs, then looks out over the city. "Although, I suppose there are worse places to be grounded..." she says, a slight smile tickling at her mouth as the wind created by the tall buildings causes her hair to flow and her dress to ripple gently.

Starlight Bandits has posed:
The promise of adventure is like music to the princess' ears! But, because the wind is quite strong at this altitude, actual music is carried enough that she can hear it. It sounds like a full swing band is playing on one of the rooftops below!

However, should she peek over the railings, the only musicians she can see are a duet. And yet, they are clearly the source of the song. The instruments they play, consisting of a hi-tech saxophone and trumpet, seem to be able to produce music as if a whole suite was playing.

However, they are on a rooftop, with no one else listening to them play. None of the surrounding roofs seem to have an audience either. The two are just... playing.

Sometimes, adventure is less than some grand journey into far-off places. Sometimes, it's just going off the beaten path to talk to strange people you otherwise never would. The roof is high enough that Sarracenia could reach it by swinging from one of the airship's rope..

Sarracenia has posed:
Sarracenia blinks as she hears music. She looks around, then over the railing to see the...duet? But, it sounds like an entire band! Her curiousity piqued, she reaches into her purse and rummages around a bit before pulling out what looks like a teddy bear with a raccoon tail. She hugs it, and it disappears in a puff of smoke that envelopes her, leaving her wearing a fluffy tanuki suit! Her face sticks out, but otherwise it covers her entire body. It must have transformed her clothing, because her dress is nowhere to be found.

The princess walks away from the railing, then runs toward it and just leaps off the deck! Then, the long tail of the tanuki suit starts wagging and she flies right over to the pair. She lands on their roof, then approaches. "How are you doing that? The amount of music being produced could not possibly come from just those two instruments!" she says, obviously a bit baffled.

Starlight Bandits has posed:
    The duet look to the descending princess as she lands! They consist of a man and a woman, the man wearing most of a suit with a gold tie, the woman wearing a frilly dress. However, both are wearing dark sunglasses. They take the instruments from their mouths and the woman says;

    "Well shucks mama cat, it's the hip new thing~!" And then the man says;

"Honkers that make accompanying music to your smooth jams! Nuthin' like it baby!"

They walk over to Sarracenia, and offer their hands to shake! In fact, they move in synchrony so that the back of the man's right hand is against the woman's left hand. This way, Sarracenia could shake both their hands at once!

    "How do you do?"

Sarracenia has posed:
Sarracenia looks somewhere between intrigued and unnerved when those two approach her like that. They must have been playing together quite a while to be able to syncronize their behavior like that! She hesitates a moment before she shakes both hands at once. "I...am alright." she says uncertainly. "Why are you two standing on a roof playing music from such unusual instruments? And...how can they make such complicated sounds? Are you even actually playing, or are they just repeating a recorded song?"

The pirahna plants back on the ship are watching worriedly. They are supposed to protect the princess, and she just lept away without an escort! Frantic plantmen run about the deck of the ship, trying to figure a way over.

Starlight Bandits has posed:
Sarracenia's question... actually seems to stump the two for a moment. Again, in that oddly synchronized movement, they huddle with their heads lowered. However, they're still speaking loud enough to be heard.

"Hey Irvine, why are we up here playing music anyway?"
"Ahahah, well Molly my dear... we just got these instruments! We have to break them in, do we not?"
"Oooohhh... but why up here? It's kinda cold and windy..."
"Hmhmhm... well, it's so the soul of music can shine through us more easily!"

"Eeeehhhh?! The soul of music?!"
"Yes! For you see Molly, music have become heavily commercialized these days. Everyone plays for their daily bread or for the attention, and not for the love of music. For that reason, we come up here, where no one could hear us, so that we may play for the sake of it!"
    "Ooohhh, I get it now!"

And with that, they break up the huddle so they can give a proper answer. Molly gives Sarracenia a thumbs-up and a wink. "We stole these instruments for the soul of music!" Irvine just throws his head back and laughs. "While that's certainly true my dear, I can't help but feel we missed a step."

And then, they carry on as if they hadn't just admitted to a crime. "Recorded? Certainly not! We can play all manner of tunes! Let's show her Molly!" "You got in Irvine!" And once again, they break into song with those hi-tech wind instruments, a totally different tune this time! Totally ignoring the panicking plantmen above.

Sarracenia has posed:
Surprisingly, the princess also doesn't seem to care that they just admitted to a crime. "Well, I suppose not everyone has the good fortune to be a princess who could afford many such musical instruments." she says, then listens as they start playing again. She is soon smiling lightly as she starts enjoying the spirited jazz. It still seems unlikely that it isn't recorded somehow, but she is willing to dismiss it for now.

She listens to the end of the song, the claps for them. "Well, whether recorded or not you two are quite the performers! Are you musicians by trade?" she asks, then blinks. "Oh, forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Princess Sarracenia Sundew, Crown Princess of the Sundew Kingdom." She speaks and acts with elegance and pride despite wearing a fluffy animal suit. She smiles after that, then claps her hands together again. "Do you know any other songs?"

Starlight Bandits has posed:
After the two finish the song, Irvine says, "Hahah! Certainly, the two of us are more pauper than princess. But Molly here truly has the regal bearing and grace of nobility!"
    "Oh, Irvine~"

Molly swoons against Irvine's body, whereupon he catches her! Are these two lovers, or just overly affectionate friends? Either way, their lovey-dovey attitudes might make Sarracenia a bit jealous! However, they snap out of it when the princess properly introduces herself.

    "A PRINCESS?!"

Her strange attire doesn't bother them in the slightest it seems. Immediately, Irvine does a formal bow while Molly dips into a dainty curtsey. "Thank you for gracing our humble performance!" "This is a marvellous honor for us both!" Wait, what happened to music being too commercialized or abused by attention-seekers?...

But, now the time has come to introduce themselves properly. Immediately, they go back to back with their arms crossed. "Liberating the goods from the hands of the unworthy..." "The two of us burn with the intensity of the stars themselves..." "Beholden to none but each other, we ride!" "Our tales shall be known to all!"

In a dramatic flourish, the two whip off those sunglasses and toss them off the rooftop!

    "Molly Crescent!"
    "Irvine Lune!"
    "We are the... STARLIGHT BANDITS!"

And then immediately, either in response to Sarracenia's request, or simply to have a theme for themselves, they take up those instruments again and begin playing!

Sarracenia has posed:
The lonely princess does indeed feel a pang of jealousy as she watches the overly-dramatic pair. In her mind, there is no question. They must be a couple! She smirks as they are appropriately surprised and dazzled by her status as princess. She listens to their introduction, then ooohs. "Bandits, hmm? Well, do not get any ideas such as kidnapping a beautiful princess like myself! I am sure you would only be able to get a small fortune in exchange for my safety!" ...is she crazy?

She listens to the new song, then claps again once it is over. "You two are quite talented, if indeed you are playing these instruments and they are not simply spouting pre-recorded music." she says, then hmms. "Where might one aquire one of these instruments? I have learned piano and violin, as is customary for proper ladies. Where did you two learn to play?"

Starlight Bandits has posed:
When Sarracenia mentions kidnapping her, the two look at her shrewdly. A-Are they actually considering it? Again, they huddle and speak in loud whispers.

"A small fortune is still a fortune..."
"Nono, don't you see Irvine? She's testing us!"
    "You think so?"
"Look at her eyes... she's planning to use our kidnapping attempt as a chance to capture us for our bounty!"
"What a devious opponent! Perhaps another time, when we're prepared...""

And with that, they break up the huddle. As Sarracenia asks about where she can get such instruments, the two just wordlessly hand their ones to her, totally ignoring her question as to where they learned to play! "You can have ours!" "Indeed! Consider them souvenirs of our meeting, the proof of the bond we now have!"

Whether or not Sarracenia accepts the instruments, Irvine produces a short silvery staff and holds it out so Molly can also grip it. "It was wonderful to meet you Princess, but we have some more dastardly deeds to commit~" "Watch out for us in future! Our names shall be spread far and wide by our words and deeds!" And then...

    bip

They're gone. But the rooftop access of this building suddenly bursts open, a couple of police officers walking through along with a harried-looking woman. "There! Those are my stolen instruments!"

Sarracenia should probably make herself scarce.

Sarracenia has posed:
Sarracenia blinks in confusion as the two suddenly have a small conference. She taps her foot as she waits for them to finish, only to look confused again as they had her the instruments. "Ah! Than-" And then they are gone. And a moment later law enforcement appears on the roof, and she is holding stolen merchandise!

"What?! I have been framed!" she exclaims. She sets the instruments down quickly, then runs for the edge of the roof. To the police it probably looks like she intends to commit suicide! She leaps right off the roof, then...she's flying again! She flies back to her ship, which has finished refueling, and shouts for them to get underway as quickly as possible! They are away before the police can board the ship, but who knows what sort of aerial vehicles the police from an area like this might have!

"I cannot believe they did that to me!" Sarracenia fumes as her airship makes its getaway. "To think, framing an innocent princess for their crime! Was that their plan all along?!"
