Date of Scene: | 21 September 2014 |
Location: | Strait of the Americas |
Synopsis: | Miss Clokwerk, Black Arachnia and Maya attempt to stop Ferham before she can assassinate the head of a giant corp subdivision, or get blown apart in the process! |
Cast of Characters: | Maya, 304, 516, 539 |
- Ferham (516) has posed:
The Knight Errant building is a towering citadel of reinforced bulletproof glass and steel rising up over the grimy deprecated landscape Detroit Michigan in the Shadowrun sector, an ultra-modern and pristine obelisk presiding over the poverty and crime-riddled city below like an uncaring god. It is this place where our story for tonight starts, as a few of those perpetually clean windows on the lower floors is blown out in a CRASH, something or someone is apparently shown up to party and didn't notify the current residents. Or maybe it's just someone who has a deathwish and wants to see how many corp meatsacks they can take out before the spiderlings and cyborg hound security gets them.
The security on the bottom floor seems to clam up the front doors just a bit, but it's clear their attention is focused skyward as only a few rudimentary bits of the security drones and guards are left as the others are called to the higher floors, but whoever is up there doesn't seem to be exactly waiting around to fight off security, and is instead rapidly climbing the floors, looking for something... or someone?
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
Click. A simple tap finds a message left. It was foolishly easy to decrypt the hidden morsel. Normally, Clokkie would be cross...and a little amused. Today? She simply passes an encrypted message along.
'Let's meet.'
~~ The Bar and Grill At the End of the Multiverse ~~
Clokkie waits in a dark corner for her opponent from last time. There's no drinks, and she looks /horrible/. When Arachnia comes? "Hoi." There's no enthusiasm. There's only pain in her features.
"Spill it. Can you help me find her?"
~~ Now ~~
Miss Clokwerk normally wouldn't get within a mile of Knight Errant. She's a runner. But tonight she's making her way towards the place. In typical style, it's in a stolen Knight Errant chopper. Perhaps even with a new friend. She's dressed in K.E. uniform, having pulled an old favor to get a fake SIN good enough to get in. Helps when you once worked for them.
She radios her new partner in crime. "Hoi, chum! You ready to overwatch me while we follow up this..."
SMASH! Windows blow out.
"...Lead. C'mon, Widomaker, timetable just moved up. Anyone asks? You're a High Threat Response drone being controlled by a rigger. C'mon!
Flying that chopper lower, she'll rapell down and leap into the smashed windows as she draws her assault rifle. Hacking into the K.E. tacband, she keeps a listen out, and throws a few K.E. acknowledgements down the line to fit in.
- Maya has posed:
Maya looked like something out of a trid show or movie really, like some world where the nukes did go flying and to be honest? Some might be happier at least it just be the gangers and not corps to worry about right? Either way Maya's here and she's gone by the name Blue Witch before a nation gave it to her when she had a bounty placed on her head. She just ran with wit she's also weating a cloak over her self now hiding her gear and her hair too. She's even got cloth over her lower face too she just looks like she fell out of the slumms just the way she wanted it.
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
At the Bar and Grill, Black Arachnia, aka 'Widowmaker,' is tersely sociable. She's also in robot mode for purposes of the meeting. "Find her, yes. Break her out? Probably not on my own."
And here and now, Black Arachnia - presently in her spider form - wonders idly who's in such an indiscreet hurry. The proposed cover story of being 'a drone' prompts a rather annoyed look ... but for now, she follows Clokwerk into the building. /If you've got any useful encryption keys for this place, pass them my way,/ she burst-transmits to Clokwerk - including Maya on the channel for good measure. While Arachnia would never admit it, she's glad to have at least one person on this jaunt who ISN'T Confederate.
- Ferham (516) has posed:
There is the sound of machine gun fire inside the building itself, apparently centralized to the 6th floor. Several of the security forces seemed to be engaged there. Inside, beyond the hazes of smoke caused by automatic weaponry fire, there is a winged figure, what looks like a length of pink glowing cable rifing from her left arm to encircle the Corp-sec and bash their helmeted heads together, knocking them dizzy. A few spiderlings armmed with needler guns fire dart after dart a tthe figure, which folds one of those long flat wings over her front, the needles bouncing off and some break on impact. There seems to be a full alert by now, but as earlier: The front door lobby seems to only be lightly guarded if anyone wanted to try to walk in that way, the source of the disturbance seemed to have been able to just fly in and enter through one of the above ground floors.
Even higher still, where the board rooms look like they're made from polished marble and synthetic plush carpeting--some may even be from animals specifically cloned and then skinned for their furs--a group of guards set up a blockade to protect some kind of VIP, apparently.
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
Grin! Clokwerk manages a bit of psychotic cheer, grinning towards 'Windowmaker' and the 'Blue Witch'. "C'mon, let's do this chums!" Then, the pair of them get blasted said encryption codes, more than enough to get into the tacband, and even several security systems. Spying a fleeing figure, Clokwerk shoulders her gun and whips out her cyberdeck. She'll try to get access to the cameras with a few taps to figure out where she's going.
What she sees has her nearly dropping gun and deck alike.
"F...FERRY!?" She whispers in horror over the private band for the trio.
"Wh...what the frag, Ferry? What's going on? Damnit! HEYYYYY! GET BACK HERE! SLOTTING GET THE FRAG BACK HERE!" There's /tears/ in her cybereyes as she dashes after Ferham. Those legs of her help. Something's wrong. Ferham wouldn't just assault a place like this without telling her.
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
Black Arachnia recognizes Ferham as well, from the raid on the supply depot; she doesn't waste time trying to get her attention, though. Instead, she starts trying to take over several of those spiderlings, using the encryptions that Clokwerk just transmitted - might as well get a head start turning security in the building against itself. Confusing the opposition is rarely a bad tactical move.
Apart from that, she's looking to pull a map of the building out of the computers - complete architectural schematics would be SLIGHTLY overboard, but there's always more than one way to get around a modern structure like this one. /Stay focused, Clokwerk,/ she advises the Confederate hacker. /We need to know what the connection is between this place and the chop-shop gang, and if 'Ferry' is ripping a path through them, it means they don't have control of her./
- Maya has posed:
Maya has not gone for her weapon no she's just moving along here she listens as they talk ove the comms she's not seen Ferham before so she knows nothing about this as she meeps a move on and pulls a card out palming it in her hand as she keeps watch over things. Then things get bac and She's chasing right after Clockwerk as she goes after this Ferry?
- Ferham (516) has posed:
Ferham seems to hear Miss Clowwerk, though she doesn't seem to pay her much heed as she digs her claws into the ceiling and those long curvaceous legs of hers go out--boots impacting hard into one of the lunging cyberdogs that was able to run under the Corp-sec's teams fire and try to close in on her. Ever been kicked by titanium high heels? well this dog just found out what that feels like. Boots clicking back down on the polished tile floor, she kicks off the floor itself and begins DIGGING THROUGH THE CEILING itself to pull herself up through it to the floor above her, coming up right behind the security blockade setup and knocking a few of the crouched security right over. KOOL-AID WOMAN.
Meanwhile, in said board room, a tall and lanky Native American man knocks over a few chairs and prepares what looks like a huge black polymer drum-magazine fed shotgun, resident evil 4 Striker style.
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
Deep breath. In, out. "Right. Focus. Alright. Right. C'mon, let's stop her before she does something stupid. This is Knight Errant headquarters. They'll geek her hoop faster than you can slot a trid."
The runner changes out her ammo. STick-n-shock rather than normal bullets. A bit mean, but, she figures Ferry will forgive her. Eventually.
Then Ferry's digging through the damn ceiling. "Frag!"
Then, she's spitting out an over-ride code for one of the dobermen on the next floor. Rather than shoot her? It'll try to tackle her as she clambors out of the hole and hold her down rather than maul her. Clokwerk follows, trying to shimmy up the hole.
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
Going through the ceiling? More trouble than it's worth in Black Arachnia's opinion; she heads for the elevator banks, forcing open a door and climbing up the shaft.
If the car in that shaft is somewhere below the floor she's entering on, she might also cut the cables to make SURE it stays down there. Depends on whether she's got reason to believe somebody else might use it against her. (... and/or her allies.)
But by the time the doors on Ferham's current floor are similarly forced open, Black Arachnia's engaged her electro-disruptor to completely cloak her presence; she goes for the ceiling and skitters towards the security blockade that Ferham is apparently headed for ...
- Ferham (516) has posed:
Ferham seemed dimly aware that more people than just the Corp-sec team were after her, but whether or not she seemed to mind at the moment was debateable. She seemed instead single-minded in her approach. As for the security blockade, well, the poor chummers didn't seem to expect her to come up right through the floor behind them, which is what she did.
WHOOSH CRACK, CRACK CRAK
That whip of hers lashed out as she swung it around and like a flail around her sides, catching each of the men in front and behind her. A booted heel came down on a needle-firing Spider bot as it fired off a few rounds from behind her, hardly giving the poor thing a second thought as she turned towards the door and brushed a hand behind her. Several long needle-like metal darts falling to the floor, likely laced with muscle relaxants and knockout drug cocktails like Sandman. She didn't seem to mind that they made her left thigh and rear look akin to a pincushion as she brushed them away and instead set her sights on the door to the VIP's boardroom...
"Oof!" This is of course when the cyberdog lunges at her, with enough force and weight to nearly knock her over. And then she's on her back and trying to fight off the thing, her clawed, gloved hands going out to try and grab it's neck to push it away, winding up with it's jaws perhaps clamping down on her right forearm as she tries to defend herself.
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
Arachnia would find the schematics and a bit of sabotage easy enough! The crash the elevator makes likely scares the hell out of some poor intern.
When she's up through the hole, and poor Ferry's on the ground, she steps into her role.
"STAY DOWN CRIMINAL! YOU'RE UNDER ARREST DREKHEAD!"
Then? Looking very, very apologetic, Clokwerk unloads a full burst of stik-n-shock ammo into poor Ferham's leg if she doesn't get out from under robodog. It's chomping is surprisingly light, enogh to detain, but not hurt.
- Maya has posed:
Maya is still moving at this rate as she goes she ses that Miss Clockwerk seems to know this person. Maya notes after a moment
"Pump her for info anf given how this world is."
With that she moves on if she knew they were a reploid she'd still think they'd likely take them apart for tech as so far as she knows? It's hard enough for human variants to get rights in this world.
That's when maya casts a spell on the group, hastew the card glows red and they should be moving a hell of a lot faster now for the forseeable future!
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
"You boys are so far out of your jurisdiction ..."
Black Arachnia's drawl tapers off as she realizes the security goons are already down and out. She suppresses a chuckle, and de-stealths, looking to see how Ferham takes the shock rounds. If that puts her out of business, the Maximal spider turns her attention to the boardroom doors. "I doubt we just want to kick those in, but if you want to take your chances, feel free," she notes dryly to Clokwerk. "Let me see how else we can get in ..." She starts perusing the schematics that she grabbed earlier. Somehow she doubts the vents will be large enough to get inside that way ... what are the windows made out of?
- Ferham (516) has posed:
Ferham finds herself struggling with not only the dog but also the electric projectiles now plugging into her leg, causing her to shriek in pain. Like a woman who just realized theres a huge problem all of a sudden, like maybe a crosswind screwed her hair up massively, but she does sound like she's in pain. Her whole right side seems to go limp and she weakly tries to push the dog up and off her, that comely sultry body of hers now looking like it's slack and laid out on her back, one arm trying to get to the whip at her side, clawed glove grasping around to try and find it, just so she can try to garrote the dog and pull herself up.
The green eyes of the femmebot flash over to Black Arachnia and then to Maya, likely remembering the former from the attack while she was fighting Xau'ra and the others. She growls herself and struggles under the crippling effect of the shock bolts.
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
Thankfully, the robodog is easily enough garroted, the creature's metallic neck snapping and it flailing limply atop Ferham. Clokwerk sighs deeply.
"Stay down, criminal scum!" Depress trigger. Cue more stik-n-shock needles in poor Clokwerk's arm this time on the right side should she not flee in time. Seems Clokkie's aiming to take her down now!
The glass itself seems to be of the bullet-proof variety, to prevent sniping of important people.
- Maya has posed:
Maya says "Your not getting paid enough to deal with us. Trust me on that, /run/ and we won't have a problem."
Maya redies another card but does not put it to use just yet, actually scratch that plan, she palms another card and casts a spell to purge hopefully Miss Clokwerk of whatever was pumped into her.
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
/So the fembot we're here to rescue isn't recognizing her best friend enough to trust her, we're in the middle of corporate headquarters from a company associated with the people who did it, and we still haven't figured out why they made the effort to start with,/ Black Arachnia observes over the group's operational channel. /Clokwerk, it's your friend we're rescuing; do we make off with her while the getting is good, or should we try to get more answers out of the people in charge? I doubt we're getting through those doors without a fight, and I didn't bring demolition charges to help get in another way. I could try to cut through the outside windows with my lasers, but it'd take time and be noticed./
- Ferham (516) has posed:
"Nrghh!" Ferham was putting up quite a struggle, actually--the femmebot having quite a lot of fight left in her, it would seem. As more of the stik 'n shok darts sink into her opposite side, however, she seems to be in quite a bit of pain.
"Is that the BEST you can--AHHH!--Ow..." Ferham frowned as she definitely seemed like she was overloaded in pain, finally falling back and completely slack now as her wings clacked against the hard polished marble of the floor. More Corp-sec were likely to be coming soon, but whoever was in the boardroom had his 100 round drum magazine shotgun trained right at that door, and likely wasn't going to move until something came through it and was blown apart or he got a call from security notifying him the intruder had been eliminated.
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
Frag frag frag!
Clokwerk bursts over the channel, "Yeah. Yeah, I know. Listen...I might be smarter to grab the man beyond those doors and question the frag out of 'im. But, I...let's say I know these guys pretty well. Best damn rent-a-cops you can find. They'll take Ferry apart faster than you can blink. Ain't gonna be no 'read your rights' here chums. We grab Ferry, and we split. Ahh...frag it. Runners don't do this, ok? But...she's my friend. One of the only I've got. So don't go spilling this, track, chums? I worked for these guys once. When I was legit. I think whoever's doing this is trying to get back at /me/. And...they're using my damn friend to do it!" Gulp.
"Let's get her out of here before she does something that'll really get her geeked."
And down she goes. How convenient. Wince. "...Sorry Ferry. C'mon, kiddo, I owe you one hell of a soykaf and rum after this." Heft! Over the shoulder goes a Ferry.
Then, she's transmitting over the Knight Errant band.
"Stand down! Threat detained! Currently moving prisoner to holding cell A-15!"
Clokwerk then conveniently loops some old footage of a prisoner being moved, splicing in some images of an almost-Ferham. But not quite.
She might have been making silly pictures of Ferham in her off time before she was taken down. Clokwerk has strange hobbies.
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
Well, that simplifies matters. Black Arachnia re-engages her electro-disruptor and begins moving off along the ceiling again, steering thoroughly clear of lighting fixtures.
Ideally she'd like to get to the roof first for good measure - it'll be easier to re-board our helicopter from there than by jumping from a window - but as much as she hates to admit it, Clokwerk IS the local expert. Besides, Black Arachnia has a mildly generous supply of data to go through from the schematics - figuring out what they might be hiding here, and where to go looking for it ...
And how, eventually, to get through the boardroom windows to gank some bigwigs who thought there was a profit to be found here.
/See, here's why I took this personally,/ she explains to Clokwerk and Maya. /Somebody's decided that it's fair game to hunt for mechanical life-forms outside of this world. Ferham there was the first target that we *know of*. I think we need to demonstrate that this is a losing proposition, and we need to do it fast. But 'fast' seems to be out of the cards here, given how much time we lost subduing 'Ferry' and not being sure how to get through that door./
Don't you just love glorified self-interest?
- Ferham (516) has posed:
The Corp-sec teams seem to be trying to regroup and close off either end of the corridor the group is standing in, ruh roh. Is that the tik-tak of spider bot legs as well? Who there can fly?! There is still the whole Ferham came through, however, and whatever path that Clokwerk took into the building, but if they're going to move, they better do it fast!
- Miss Clokwerk (539) has posed:
"They want a bunch of AI drones? Frag 'em! Take all they want. But ya see, they took /Ferry/. The little robot who gave a damn about this drekstain of elfmanity you see before you. And you know what? That's enough for me. I'm gonna frag the bastards that're responsible for this."
She frowns. "But let's not do something stupid, huh? We take Ferry back to some place safe, figure out what's wrong with her, and go from there. Vengeance second."
Drek. The drones are coming.
"Alright, no fragging time. Get down!"
The chopper lowers itself to their level. Clokwerk drops to the ground, and bodily covers Ferham with her own as the helicopter's guns blaze in order to take out the windows! then? She's taking the stupid option. Flee out the window, leaping with her friend into the chopper. Thank god for leg-jacks.
- Black Arachnia (304) has posed:
Demonstrating the same 'floors are for chumps' ethos that abuses her spider abilities to the fullest, Black Arachnia does not 'get down' as called on; she flattens herself against the ceiling instead as the chopper shoots out the windows.
"Be right with you," the spider calls to Clokwerk. "Maya?"
The mandible grapnel is launched; it should latch onto the inside bulkhead on the far side of the chopper's cabin.
"After you!" the Maximal spider states - and after Maya crosses into the helicopter, whether she uses the grapnel's cable for it or simply jumps, Black Arachnia reels herself into the helicopter's interior as well.
- Maya has posed:
Maya lowers her card at this poing she looks at Black Arachnia and nods she sees where this is going.
"Before someone like Skynet, Sigma, or Baiking Boss hears about what's going down here."
The first two would have a bloody feild day with the matrix to be sure. "Also given it's a nightmare for ... human banches off species to get rights here... let along a entirely alien form of life."
Don't get Cybertoians going about slavery.
"That doesn't sound like law enforcement that sounds like plain old mercs. Spilling what?"
maya's good at forgetting thing after all.
