The Time Between ft. the Warriors Of Light | |
---|---|
Date of Scene: | 16 February 2020 |
Location: | The Mist, Eorzea |
Synopsis: | |
Cast of Characters: | N'raha Tia, Alruna Greengate, 7180 |
- N'raha Tia has posed:
It is still winter in La Noscea, but the chill of the season, as always, as bouyed away by the warm waters off the coast of Vylbrand. And the Mist has its name cut out for itself today, as the Mist has rolled in over the entire housing district. Which means it's a little hard to be grilling outside.
Which means N'raha is grilling inside. The sizzle of meat and sausage and potatoes fills the house, and the Cat Warrior is making sure his friends have food to both heal off their injuries and also for Thinking and Talking.
"Right, so, I call this meeting of the Warriors of Light to order. First business, mead or wine?"
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
"Wine." Alruna says immediately. She leans over, inhaling the scents happily before sitting back.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"Wine." Amelris Belthrone, the Red Mage, wearing his usual outfit is a little stiffer than usual. He's still bandaged from the other day but at least, he's not lazying around on a couch all day. "Definetively wine."
He nibbles and munch on a bit of orange.
- N'raha Tia has posed:
Drinks are poured, for everyone involved. And then Raha leaves the bottles on the table, as he settles in, plating up the fish and the beef and the veggies and everything. It's a pretty decent spread. There is also fruit, because Inga insists on these things.
Amelris has already found that.
"Okay. Alruna. Are you going to be okay? Do you need to talk after the other night?" A serious look at the Gladiator, as Raha starts on his meat and taters. He's not judging either. He's seen shit too. They all have.
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna climbs over the furniture like a damn animal. somehow rolling over the chair back into a sitting position without slamming her feet on the table, though it looks like a near thing. She has a forkful of meat and popotoe halfway to her mouth before N'raha drops some Concern on her.
She completes the motion, chewing quickly and giving herself some time to think. Gulp. "Yes, I think so. Yes." she says. She picks up her wineglass, hesitates, and puts it down again. "...no."
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
Amelris is, for once, NOT the godamn animal by just sitting on top of the furniture. It's like this place have been proofed like that. He drinks his drinks, eat his meats and looks at Alruna.
"No rush." The Red Mage adds. "It was a shock for every Eorzeans there."
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha also settles in, popping a piece of roasted fish in his mouth and watching the thoughts go through Alruna's face. "You're in good company, yeah. Amelris and I... we weren't at Caretenau. You were. We just got to experience the rest of that afterwards." He sighs and gets comfy on the mismatched chair, and curls his tail against the wood.
He leaves it at that, and then listens.
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna nods. "I would not diminish the struggle you all went through afterwards. It was..."
She swirls the wine in her glass around, absently. "I don't think anyone who lived to see the day after will forget the sight." She goes back to eating, savouring the taste of N'raha's cooking. "The Scions must love having you about to cook." she says, smiling. "Sharlyan cooking, by all accounts, is duller than doing your letters."
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
It's still something hard to fully cognize the fact of what she is suggesting that she is.
"It's not really useful to compare miseries in that manner, anyway." Amelris comments, nodding, grinning. "Yeah, he's a better cook than most people here."
- N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha chuffs at the compliments and then sighs. "You got spirited away and had... well. You are not that far removed. I'm not sure..." His ears wilt a bit. "I'm not sure if that's any better." A moment to poke at his potatoes. ""So. We're still going down there, and we're still fixing that. And damn anyone who says otherwise. Not after the Tower."
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna raises her glass more decisively. "Aye." She drinks to that.
She smiles. "Eight years was something of a shock. To go from the end of the world to... all this. Everyone picking themselves up and rebuilding and then..." Now she falters a little. "To see all that might come to naught again, so soon. It damaged my calm more than I should have allowed it to."
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
Amelris lift his glass in the call.
He drinks to that. "Hey," He adds, setting down his drink with a grin. "See it this way. That's eight year younger than you'd be! That's at least one good thing out of that."
The Red mage waves a hand. "We rebuilt, it was hard, it was difficult but that's what made me go out as an adventurer. Hells, you Warriors of Light been an inspiration when I was younger. So, chin up!"
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha perks a bit. "He's right, you... the general you, of course, were an inspiration to us all. Even if we couldn't remember your faces, anymore." A puff of breath, and then he lifts his glass. "So. You did well, and now you are here to inspire us once more."
He takes a drink, sets down the glass, and then huffs. "...Right, topic two. How's this thing with Shyra and the others going? You're both pretty tore up. Did you see Inga?"
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
"I'm just glad you believed me." Alruna sits back, rubbing her face. There's still so many holes, bits and pieces of her life that have gone missing, the ache of losing touch with her old comrades isn't one that will go away soon.
Come to think of it... if any of them ever pop out of the aether in the South Shroud in the future, she ought to leave a message there for them. She makes a note to follow that up later.
She nods. "Kingsmouth is not a nice neighbourhood, but it will serve our purposes." She elects not to comment on Inga's bone fences, regardless of their efficacy against the locals.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"No reasons for us to not believe you, honestly." Amelris shrugs, leaning back against his seat.
He drains the rest of his drink, wincing. "Yeah, it should do well. So. What now?"
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha perks. "You went to Kingsmouth?" He scritches at an ear and makes a face. "I'm hoping Inga's wards were holding or else that's not really a good place to rest." He takes another bite of meat and huffs. "So, is everything okay? I am guessing it wasn't if you had to dive into Solomon Island."
There's a moment where he looks like he's having an Echo Flashback, but he manages to fend that off.
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
"Aye, but as I said to Raphael, it's not like that we'll be looked for there, and it provides us ample opportunity to learn how to fight together." Alruna attacks her plate again with gusto. Highlanders.
"And we'll need every advantagshe we can get, judging from how our encounters went."
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"Plus there's a lot of things to just... go look for." Amelris concludes, shaking his head. "Lots of zombies. Fishmen. Treasures. Unspeakable horrors."
- N'raha Tia has posed:
Another bite of sausage, and then N'raha relucantly reaches for some fruit as well. "Hrmph. That school that's farther up the road is pretty out there too. The Innsmouth Academy. There's a hotel and a funfaire and... all of it is awful." A bite of an apple. "You're right all of it would do well for training."
A breath, and then he looks at the others. "...Anyone else got some things they want ot bring up?" He scritches at his cheek. "Even if I'm..." He makes a face. "Party leader for now doesn't mean I'm the only one who gets to ask questions."
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna thinks for a moment, chewing thoughtfully while staring at the ceiling.
"How's your impulse control coming?" she asks.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
Amelris looks between N'Raha and Alruna, fork and knife cutting up some meat. The Red Mage thinks on this. Things certainly have changed around here, ever since the world have opened up like it have.
He settles on something, grinning and leaning back.
"Nah, not really someting as /big/ as such," The Red Mage comments, holding his cut meat out beside him as he gesticulate. "I'm pondering what else to do on some fronts... annnnnd avoiding some people."
The fork goes into his mouth. Amelris frowns, furrowing his brows as he pulls it out. Empty. Nothing. He looks down next to him.
To everyone else, there was a flash of fluff that bounced from the side of the table, snagged the sausage bit and then fell back. Amelris frowns down at his Carbunckle. "I've spoiled you."
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha perks at that. "I... how... how do you guys think it's coming?" There's a flick of his ears, and he looks from Amelris to Alruna and Carbuncle and he just... lets out a breath. "Have you seen any issues in a while? I don't think I've... lost myself."
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna is struggling to contain a smirk, for multiple reasons. "That little ball of fur and aether is more trouble than he's worth." she comments.
Turning to N'raha she leans on the table, resting her cheek in her hand. "You seem to be okay. You handled the Coil better than I did, at least. Whether there was aught to be impulsive about... I suppose you could've leapt off the bridge after Lezard, but you didn't." she points out.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"We'll get our chance to strike at him." Amelris comments, grumbling a bit and cutting himself ANOTHER piece of sausage to eat.
- N'raha Tia has posed:
A grump. "He was at Tallahassee when we were working tto prevent that Magical Girl from killing everyone." Raha slumps his shoulders. "I wanted to kill him right then and there but I didn't want to lose myself so... I faltered. Luckily there were others there who could help."
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna nods. "So your Inner Beast isn't spiralling out of control." she summarises. "That's good!"
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"Is that how it works?" Amelris asks, tilting his head.
- N'raha Tia has posed:
Raha sighs and puts down his knife and fork, and picks up his mead. "It's... It's something like that. I just..." His ears wilt again, and he looks to the others. "I know that the Beast still lurks. It wants to get out. Inga calls it the Odinsrage, which... I'm not sure she realizes how accurate that is, even here."
A callused hand rub at his face, and N'raha murmurs. "You guys trust me to be a leader, and I can't be that when I'm... lost to the Will to Fight."
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna grunts. "If it were no more than despicable acts that set this off, you'd be little more than an avenger riding across the land attempting to cut down all who crossed your path, afore long, aye?"
She cocks her head. "I'm not sure I have the knowledge or experience to help a Warrior tame themselves." she admits.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
The Red Mage is taking it easy, relaxing and trying to not push his wound all too much.
"Neither do I." Amelris admits, shrugging briefly. "Beyond that, I can't really think of much else."
- N'raha Tia has posed:
The catman wilts a bit. "But, until someone can help me tame that spirit, I will remain... who I am. And that Beast will only get to peek out when its needed. And Inga knows how to bring me back, so."
There's a moment as he lets out a brreath, his ears turning a little pink on the inside. He stuffs some meat in his face.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"By the way," Amelris says, peeking up, downing his second cup of wine. "If we have a pair of Maelstorm officiers Miqo'tes that come searching for me, I ain't here, alright?"
- N'raha Tia has posed:
"Uh."
N'raha peers at Amelris. "Are you dating on the side and we didn't know about it?"
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"No, it's my old folks." Amelris replies, happily, pouring himself a third drink.
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha picks up his mead, looks at Alruna, and then sips, his ears flicking forward. "I uh... I suppose this is a safe house for that sort of thing, but you... you know I'm with the Maelstrom too, right?"
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"Yeah, me too." Amelris replies, sipping on his third drink.
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna's eyes flick back and forth between N'raha and Amelris over the rim of her cup.
"Is... is that an issue?" she asks, putting her empty cup down. "Did something else happen while I was gone?"
- N'raha Tia has posed:
A frown from N'raha, and he sighs. "I... I can't fault you for that, I suppose. I uh."
He rubs his nose. "I always avoid my father when I go home too. At least my mothers and aunts know about Inga, so... I can't say I'm springing that on them."
He slides the wine bottle gingerly away from Amelris.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"It's not really a /huge/ issue," Amelris comments shaking his head. "They're just of the ... you know, nagging sort."
He finishes his third drink, setting the glass down. "Do you have any idea how ex-pirates that turn nagging and coddling is like?"
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
"I cherish my ignorance." Alruna says, trying not to think about the subject. Thal's balls, they've all got family problems, don't they.
"Give me that." she mutters, the Highlander's entirely too long arm plucking the wine bottle out of anyone's hands to refill her glass.
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha's ears flutter a bit as Alruna takes the bottle from him, and then huffs. "Mother is still a little put out that I'm not... coming home to be a Nunh, and I want to tell her that harems are for old men and I... bluh."
He pours himself a mead, and ctakes a big pull.
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
"She'll get over it." Amelris replies, shrugging, reaching for a mead as well to open it up, take a swig. "I suspect, anyway. Anyway. That's why I'm 'Amelris Belthrone', mostly because I was trying to go out on my own way and my own merit."
- Alruna Greengate has posed:
Alruna chuckles and raises her glass. "To family. And ignoring everything they want for you."
- Amelris Belthrone (7180) has posed:
Amelris toss up the bottle of mead. "Hear, hear." CLING against the glasses.
- N'raha Tia has posed:
N'raha continues the clinking, and then ets out a breath. "Here's to... finding your own path. We may be tied to Fate but it is not an anchor around our necks."
