From Multiverse Crisis MUSH
No Brakes! | |

Date of Scene: | 13 December 2016 |
Location: | Remnant <REM> |
Synopsis: | Remnant didn't get away unscathed by the Multiversal Grand WTF.
A section of Wall fell in Vale, and Grimm began flooding in, seeking blood and fear. An unlikely band of heroes, and the unlikely alliance between the White Fang and City Security, helped drive the monsters back, so that rebuilding can now begin. |
Cast of Characters: | Yang Xiao Long, Deelel, Athela Valemore, 750, 385, August Kohler, 1057 |
- Yang Xiao Long has posed:
City of Vale, Planet Remnant.
Southern sector C-12, 'Wall Street'.
The Wall is down. One the outside: The Grimm. On the inside: CitySec, White Fang, Armed Civilians of both Human and Faunus stock and assorted Hunters of both genders, and races. The stakes: The Fall of Vale.
The stage is set, the players are in place, let the games begin.
Yang is bogged down right in the middle of the fighting, the report and flash of her Shot Gauntlets marking her out, even amongst the other Hunters in Training that came to help. "Hold the line! CitySec, get those civilians out of here if they aren't armed! We need to hold out until the reinforcements get here!" she bellows over the sounds of the Grimm, their howls, roars, honks and other assorted noises becomming a din of doom, a creeping darkness seeking to swallow the light.
- Deelel has posed:
The sound of a light jet can be heard above the city she knows theres a hell of alot of Grim comming and she's not going to let this turn into some kind of dark living fairy tail. Her crafts straffs the street opening up on severl grim but it's a distracteion really. Deelel is better off with dealing on things up close and personal. The Jet vanishes into wireframe, seconds later Deelel starts to drop towards the ground, catching the baton as she drops. She lands in a three point landing, summoning her Keyblade the Duel Disc as she moves to charge into the nearest of the Grimm.
"Get GLITCHED!"
- Athela Valemore has posed:
Those reinforcements, they are arriving. Coming to the aid of Vale upon the back of ... a giant sealion in armor.
Yes that sounds a bit rediculous at first, rest assured this is not as bizarre as it seems when it comes to Pokemon. Even if not a horse it still bears an encouraging sight to behold as the Samurott barrels to the fight on it's own watery stream. Charging right towards the nearest flank of Grimms with his head down, lance-like horn upon his helmet aimed to drive into any foul creature that does not get out of the way.
Those that do get out of the way still have the sting of a blade to deal with. One hand gripping one of the prongs of her mount's armor while the other slashes her sword at the vile creatures, red hair and cloak flowing behind her with the strikes. Unusual steed aside for the moment Athela projects very much the image of valiant knight coming to the rescue of the people in need. "Fear not valiant defenders, your city shall not fall this night!"
- Rebound (750) has posed:
Getting right into the thick of things it seems. Rebound is of course on here, because she just likes punching shit in the face. Anything, doesn't matter to who who or what she's punching, as long as it's getting punched.
These Grimm, whatever they are, not that big of a deal to her. Unless she'll turn into one if she gets bitten by one. That would be unfortunate. Still she sails in out of seemingly nowhere, crashing down on top of a pair of them and immediately going in swinging.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Yuna is still trying to come to grips with the reconfiguration of the Multiverse. It's not that she can't understand what happened, mind you - she may be blonde but she isn't THAT dumb; she knows full well that the gist of what happened is that reality twisted itself around and the Multiverse basically popped inside-out, combined with the abrupt existential cessation of both the Union's and the Confederacy's respective headquarters, adding up to an equally-abrupt end to the war which was, in a nutshell, why Yuna ever joined the Union in the first place.
And she's very keen on the idea of peace. She had enough friends in the Confederacy that the fact they're not enemies any more is hugely welcome; she's looking forward to hanging out more often with former Confederates whom she liked seeing outside of battle ... and she's possibly one of the most willing to accept that former enemies are now potentially allies. Heck, she took that kind of thing in stride BEFORE the Grand Multiversal WTF.
No, her problem is much more personal and pragmatic: she's been cut off from a number of worlds that are personally relevant to her - and the Matrix of Light, except for Elner, was scattered between three worlds in particular.
Or rather, she HAD been cut off. She knows from talking to Staren that Equestria's been confirmed intact and still part of the known Multiverse, and Yang's call for help has provided not only a confirmation of Remnant's location, but impetus to get there personally.
So it's not just Yuna who's racing towards the battle raging in Vale southern sector C-12. Erina of the Sky, who'd been hanging around Beacon to keep an eye on things, check for additional assignments, and so forth, is headed towards Wall Street as well - and no sooner has the battlesuited blonde come tearing around the corner from the nearest warpgate than Erina dives out of the sky. Yuna glances up with a look of relief and a yell of, "Let's combine!!" and the purple-and-white android swings her body around - not diving head-first, but descending feet-first, the sleekly armored form going translucent and shedding speed ...
Then overlapping with Yuna's body as the Savior of Light leaps into the air.
The translucent image of Erina is replaced by a differently-contoured wireframe; pieces of purple-and-white armor, including a large thruster pack with upwards-swept wings, materialize and connect to the Light Suit and to each other.
And then Yuna is in motion once again, the Matrix Divider appearing in her hands as she starts strafing along the front line of the Grimm. For all that Yuna should still be catching her breath from her desperate run, she still finds the wind to call out, "THE DARKNESS SHALL NOT OVERCOME US!!!"
Okay, her voice is probably too hoarse to be properly inspirational at the moment. But whatever emotional bulwark she can add to the physical defense of the city, she *WILL* contribute it. She and Elner were just talking about this the other day, after all ...
- August Kohler has posed:
First mission in a brand new organization! August Kohler is really upset that all of this is happening in the course of days, but, cest la vie. He's not whining (he'll do that at everyone else later). Instead, the 17-year old is dressed in a thick hoodie, because his new Multiversal environment is goddamn cold, and is wielding a shard of mirrored glass. The redhead just rushes through the streets, avoiding the direct fighting at this moment. Instead, he ducks into a building that is not currently being occupied, forces himself up the stairs, and looks down from one of the windows. And then, he glances into the glass.
"Persona!"
And emerging behind August is one robot soldier, with a gun for a leg and burnscars everywhere. From August's vantage point in the building, he takes a look for monsters coming...and then tosses the Tin Soldier forward. Gunfire sprays out of that leg, riddling through the window and blasting towards any monsters that get in sight. This is just stage one, though. Learn what they are, if they can be shot a lot, and then go in full-swing. Though, from what he's seen of them? He's not going to like them at all.
- Yang Xiao Long has posed:
"It's the Union!" cries one of the CitySec troopers, causing a rally in the others morale. Some of these people haven't heard the news yet, but it's probably best not to inform them, lest morale plummets and the Grimm feed on it. "C'mon lads! Lets show these Hunters even the CitySecurity can handle some Grimm!" cries another.
Deelel joins in the fray with the other Hunters. Her Keyblade easily slicing through the black bodies of some nearby Beowolves, before a larger specimen leers, and howls in challenge. And Alpha. It leaps with rabid speed, aiming claws at the Program to slice her to ribbons.
Athela's charge causes one flank to split like water around a rock, the unfortunate Boarbatusk she blindsided squirming and squealing on that tusk impaled through it, before it goes limp and begins to dissolve into smoke.
Rebound does her punchwoman thing, knocking an Ursa backwards with the strength of her strike against it. She's not left unmolested though, as two Beowolves come around from either side. One gets taken out by a Faunus wearing the White Fang mark on a white hoodie, his mask having come loose from a near miss earlier in the fight, hanging loose from its strap over one shoulder. "Watch your flanks, these things aren't stupid!" he says, racking his shotgun, then transforming it into a hamaxe, using the recoil from another shot to slam the blunt end into the other Beowolf's head as it turns to snap at him.
Yuna's battlecry helps rally the defenders, the once beleagured battle line reforming, and starting to PUSH THE GRIMM BACK outside of the wall, step by agonizing step. The strafing firepower helps too, of course.
Kohler's arrival helps break the Grimm's push, bullets punching through Beowolves and taking them down rather quickly, the Ursa and Boarbatusks taking more damage, bullets actually glancing off an Elder Boarbatusk's armoured hide, leaving only a shallow scar in the bone plate.
"Keep the pressure on!" roars Yang, as she uppercuts an Ursa to stagger it, leaving it open for a tall asian-looking man in green armour, with a long broad sword to slice it in half. "We can do this!" And that's when a resonant shriek breaks the air.
"NEVERMORE INCOMING!"
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
Right, there are flying Grimm. Yuna hadn't seen any Nevermores yet - neither had Erina, for that matter - but both of them, and Elner, figured it was probably a matter of time before one of the bird-like Grimm showed up.
That shriek means they won't be waiting very long. Yuna finishes her strafing run, then sweeps her gaze across both the ground battle and the sky, starting to charge power into the Matrix Divider even before she spots the Nevermore. She's not sure whether it's going to be just one, but it would surprise her a little if there *was* only one Nevermore - the other Grimm are here in too-generous quantity as it is. There'll probably be multiple Nevermores in the air shortly; if she's lucky, she can take them out faster than they can converge on anyone.
If she's not lucky - well, she's also not *alone*; Athela offers some anti-air support with her ranged 'mon, and Yang notes that one of the neighboring sectors still has working anti-air firepower.
For now, though, Yuna searches the sky, locating the Nevermore and attempting to feed it a crackling blast of concussive radiance - ideally, sending the blast right down its throat, maybe even while its beak is gaping open for another shriek.
THEN she starts going evasive - and doing everything in her power to ensure that, should the Nevermore (one or many) go after her, they'll be aiming away from the fight on the ground to do so.
- Athela Valemore has posed:
Even as Athela is busy fending off the beasts with defensive swings of her sword she is paying attention to the discussion of tactics from her comm piece. The information is just enough to formulate more of a plan of combat that 'hit it until it stops moving'. "Lancer, the boars!" Much like the one you just speared. "Underside is the weakness!"
And not a moment too soon as one of the other large porcine beasts charges into the fray. The Samurott rears up to grapple with the monster as it slams into him, both skidding backwards and leaving ruts of upchuned pavement in the wake of the struggle, two armored juggernauts vying for position. Until Lancer abruptly pulls back and heaves his tail at the Boarbatusk, the armored fluke catching and heaving the monster like a catapult.
It won't even have a chance to hit the ground before Athela leaps in on the tail of her Pokemon's attack, lunging and thrusting Resolute Blade into the now exposed underside even as it falls from the tail flip.
- Rebound (750) has posed:
One of the two flanking Beowolves gets taken out, and Rebound wheels around to dropkick the other one in midair. Landing hard on her back, she takes a brief moment to catch her breath, but then kips back up to her feet.
Once back on her feet, she turns back to the Faunus, "I'll keep that in mind!" She calls back, as she goes back into the fray. With the Impact Drivers fully charged, she deploys them, the two gauntlets locking down over her hands as she slams them together, "Let's rock, boys!"
Whatever that flying thing, Nevermore they called it she thinks, well she's got it. She plants her feet, and then pushes down, sending herself flying up into the air. She's going to try to grab hold of one in midair, and slam one of the Impact Drivers into it's crazy bone mask thing.
- August Kohler has posed:
Bullets are effective, but not against everything. August takes note, and hearing no one saying 'DON'T USE FIRE!', decides that it's time for direct action. He glances through the window, down below...and leaps, followed by his Persona...
And lands in a dumpster below! He smells terrible now and is covered in garbage, but he'll deal with it. Instead, he's climbing out, as the Tin Soldier roars (silently), and charges into battle. That gun is now spraying fire at anything hostile, creating streams of scorching pain in an attempt to slaughter through as many of the beasts as possible. And then there's something flying...great. The Tin Soldier falls back, and searches for Yuna. "Hey, Kagurazaka. This is your angle." A shot rings out at her, but probably one she's familiar with: strength boost!
- Deelel has posed:
Deleel joins teh fray with other hunters her keybalde makes short work of some of the lesser Grima nd she keeps going but the Alpha? The alpha is going to be a bigger problem. She leaps intot he air trying to land on the larger grim. She'll then try to bring her keyblade down on it and leap away. If she pulls this off things will become a game of keep away. She'll strike rapidly then withdraw trying to keep it dancing to her tune and focuse don her. Hoping to keep it away from civilians and other hunterd.
"Viral trash you have no right to exist!"
- Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yuna would be first to spot the Nevermore. It's a Greater with two Lesser, a massive private jet-sized monster, with two smaller ones, about the size of jet fighters. The Matrix Divider bolt flies into the mouth of the larger creature... but that only seems to piss it off as it banks and attempts to just bodily tackle the flying Saviour of Light with its vast bulk.
Athela's clash with a Boarbatusk earns a horrific pig-squeal-mixed-with-a-boiler-exploding in return, as the thing starts spinning up like a certain blue hedgehog. It charges in, only to get bodily smacked by that fluke, disrupting it so Athela can slash open it's belly, making it fall away limp and smoking.
Rebound's kick sends the Beowolf flying backwards, impaling onto the back spikes of an Ursa Major Grande. Her sudden leap into the air spares her from an impending bear hug, and as she grabs onto one of the smaller Nevermore, it shrieks and flails, dragged off balance by the sudden extra weight, and the Impact Driver strike to the face doesn't help much either. It starts to go down, rapidly.
August deliverse PURGING FLAMES, breaking the ranks of the Grimm even more than before, the searing fire melting(Literally) the shadowy figures on contact, howls of anguish and furious rage coming as Beowolves, Creeps and Lesser Ursa are simply evaporated.
The monsters seem endless, but they are being pushed back, slowly but surely as the White Fang and CitySEC continue to bolster and push the line.
More reinforcements arrive in the form of a CitySEC APC, disgourging a fresh group of Heavy Riot Troopers, who bring thick shields to the front, using them to physically shove the Grimm back, and cover for the ranged fighters behind. Ammunition is distributed, glowing capsules of Dust, gleaming bullet-filled magazines and shotgun shells, going to anyone who needs it.
Deelel proves more agile than the giant Beowolf. It howls in pain as she leaps on it's back, and strikes between the bone spikes, only to leap away and send it sprawling from the momentum. It doesn't stay down though, the wound on its back emitting smoke, but the monster still not defeated. It's red eyes flash, and with a sudden burst of speed, it lunges again, only to fall short and attempt to flank around with a quick sidestep, going to lash at her with its long, sharp claws from an unexpected angle. These things are /smart/.
- Alopex (1057) has posed:
The kangaroo lunges, and not far away, another springs from a higher vantage point toward the same target. The blur of white and black hadn't seen these creatures before, but from the way the fight had been going, they seemed able to be hurt just the same as anything else.
Closing in on the falling target, the surge of white calls out a very simple phrase, "REBOUND, NAMESAKE!" as the sound of metal against metal is heard for just a moment. So long as Rebound is clear of the Nevermore, Alopex would be kind enough to introduce the avian monster to her blade, the Tentetsutou as she clears the apex of her vault.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
It's only when her blast vanishes down the largest Nevermore's gullet that Yuna realizes how truly massive a specimen this is, and her eyes go wide with the realization setting in. She already knows that chipping Grimm to death is a difficult proposition at the best of times - you largely have to do catastrophically overwhelming damage: take off the head, bisect the whole thing, something similarly critical - or they'll reconstitute themselves and keep going. And the bigger a creature of Grimm is, the harder it is to deal that kind of a blow.
But she's also remembering something from one of Prof-- of *Doctor* Oobleck's classes: the older a creature of Grimm gets, it not only grows bigger, and stronger, and generally tougher - but it grows *smarter* as well, at least compared to your run-of-the-mill swarms of horrors.
August's strength-boosting shot connects, the flare of the power-up spreading over her body and seeping into both Yuna herself and her Light Suit; she calls out a brief "Thanks!" before swerving hard, trying to dodge the massive Evermore's bodycheck. She doesn't QUITE get out of the way in time - but it's nowhere near enough to knock her out of the sky, either; the Light Suit's defensive aura crackles visibly for a few seconds as Yuna regains control of her flight, and then she closes in again. This time, she's going for the monster's eye - not by shooting it, but by getting up in its face and stabbing, punctuated by another big discharge from the Matrix Divider.
Even so ... yeah, she's likely to need some help. Time to angle to the east and try to keep all three Nevermore interested in her, if she can - and if she can avoid a messy demise along the way.
- Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela pulls her blade free and takes several steps back when it becomes clear the monster is about to self-destruct, shielding her face with her arm from the burst. Boars that can spin like wheels to run people over? And Athela though Donphan were strange doing that. Well at least the things turn to smoke and shadows when destroyed so there's less mess to clean up.
"They are kept at bay, but we need to actually push them back!" the knight shouts for as much as she can be heard over the din of the battle. "Help them hold the line," she adds to Lancer, bobbing her head in the direction of the approaching backup with the shields. That will at least hopefully keep the beasts from getting farther into the city.
Then Athela reaches into her cloak to produce a glimmering aquamarine gem. "I need thy aid, Sprite." When she holds the gem out it releases a magical flicker that does bear similarity to the little red and white balls she's seen other worlds use, and a Vaporeon appears at her feet. Immeadiately she sense the battle raging, fins and gills bristling stiffly.
Athela looks up, squinting slightly to pick out where Yuna is trying to lead the flying monsters away from terrorizing the ground forces. "Let us see if they dislike the cold as much as most flying things." She points with her sword to indicate. "Now, Sprite! Ice Beam!"
"Vaaaa!" Frosty motes briefly flicker around the merfox's mouth as she opens it, only to be drawn in and then expelling in a shimmering beam of elemental ice energy at one of the Nevermore chasing after Yuna. Even if the frigid attacks only slow them down, it'll give Yuna and Tin Soldier an upper hand against the beasts.
- August Kohler has posed:
Well, there is a giant flying monster, and it looks like Yuna needs some help. The Tin Soldier, however, can not fly. But it can jump, it can climb...and it can wrestle! As August begins running through the streets, the Tin Soldier runs ahead of him, as it begins putting bullet holes in buildings...to make climbing grips. It leaps onto a light pole, and then into a grip, and then leaps off onto the first roof it can, and so on, until it's high enough up...
To make a daring leap and try and land on top of the Nevermore, arms first to make a grab.
Assuming the Tin Soldier grabs ahold, it silently salutes at Yuna, before shambling up to the head, and tackling it, wrapping its arms around it in an attempt to pin. But it waits until they're a bit out of dodge to do what it'll do.
And then, if Yuna's plan of luring it away works? The Tin Soldier /engulfs itself/ in flames, miming horrible pain as it attempts to tightly hold onto the Nevermore's head and burn it with it. Meanwhile, in the city, somewhere below it, August begins to fall to his knees, feeling the horrible burning pains.
- Deelel has posed:
Deelel is just being a little digital monkey even as the chaos of the battle beocmes a major thing? She keeps fighting the black smoke. She looks left she looks right and she seem to get an idea as it comes eat her. She moves to intercept itwith her keyblade but the force of the beast is enough to make some glowing cracks appear on her arm, for those that know Deelel? That's some pretty heavy injuries.
SHe then launches her blade into the thing throwing it into the beast and flips back summoning the weapon back and then starts to channel spell to send a burst of lighting into the Grimm.
- Rebound (750) has posed:
Not only will she jump off of the thing as Alopex seemingly appears out of nowhere, but as Rebound leaps she takes a second to hit the creature one more time to make sure it's not going to get out of Rebound's way.
She drops down through the air and angles herself to land on top of one of the Ursa creatures...Impact Driver first, of course. She's not dumb. Of course after she lands she rolls away from the creature.
- Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Alopex comes out of freaking nowhere and RKO's the Lesser Nevermore with her sword. The blade slicing through shadowy muscle, bone and whatever passes for internal organs, lopping a whole wing clean off.
Rebound's strike just adds another nail to the Nevermore's coffin, the thing falling down to the ground in an almost graceful arch, smashing into an open-ish clearing, smoke already billowing up from it. The Ursa doesn't know what hit it, as it's smashed into a crater in the street from the strike of the falling Roo-mutant.
Athela's deployment of Vaporeon, and subsequent Ice Beam manage to put some ice on the Nevermore's wings, visibly causing it to struggle to stay aloft with the extra weight and the loss of some aerodynamics. The remaining Lesser Nevermore begins to wheel about at the new ground-based threat... and with a powerful beat of wings, launches a barrage of spear-like quills at the Knight and her faithful waterfox.
Yuna manages to keep the attention of the large monster, her strikes at it's eye making it shriek in annoyance, though it can't do much with the much faster and agile flier being so close. It doesn't even seem to notice the Tin Man as it lands on its back.
August's attack, burning flames grappling around the Greater Nevermore's neck, causes the thing to shriek and writhe, peeling away from chasing after Yuna and trying to climb. It doesn't need oxygen to breath, not really, and fire generally does need it... but it's too little, too late, as the fire actually manages to catch on the inky black feathers, soon spreading across the monster's back and out along the wings, beginning to melt the ice, but also charring the feathers. It shrieks in agony, as it loses all lift and begins to plummet, tumbling uncontrolled down into the middle of the mass of Grimm at the Breach.
The Impact causes a minor quake, and crushes several dozen Grimm beneath the falling bulk of the Nevermore.
Deelel manages to parry the Alpha, and then impales the thing with her Keyblade, before zapping it with a powerful surge of electricity. It judders, and then keels over, leaking black smoke as its baleful eyes go dark.
- Athela Valemore has posed:
It is times like this that Athela honestly wonders if she shouldn't get a shield or some such.
Lacking that she improvises, flipping Resolute Blade into a reverse grip, holding it down alongside her arm and holding it up to at least shield her face. Several quills glance off of it, several more gouge into her armor. A couple hit the Vaporeon, but then pass through to clatter to the ground as Sprite partially liquifies long enough to minimize the harm done.
Need to bring this beast down, and hard.
Athela starts focusing, calling more of the elemental force to herself. "The tides of Justice shall crush this feindish fowl!" The Tide Caller swings out her other hand, releasing the charging elemental energy spiraling into the air, forming into a sizable twister of watery force in its own right. That only gets bigger as the Vaporeon mimics, pouring water and her own elemental energy into the attack.
Remembering what Yang said earlier about Nevermores having difficulty turning and relying on their dives, the aim is to catch it out of the air before it can recover from it's bombing run with the quills and suck it into the aquareous cyclone and let the crushing, sheering force of the vortex to the rest.
- August Kohler has posed:
August Kohler is luckily not dumb, and moves away from the impact point of the Nevermore (he has to shamble a bit though). The Tin Soldier, meanwhile, mimes terrible pain as it burns, writhing on the vanishing body of the Nevermore before the Persona itself disappears. August is probably going to need some recovery!
- Alopex (1057) has posed:
The bird goes down, and the fox that took one of its wings clean off follows it to the ground, touching down just after the thing lands in a heap. Her blade is sheathed and then she turns to gaze toward the remaining Nevermore. A glance goes to the others around and then she turns back to the remaining threat. She's sure the others have it handled, but she'd move if needed. "Well done, Rebound, I will admit I wasn't sure you would know what I meant. I'm glad you did."
- Rebound (750) has posed:
The kangaroo turns around to the fox, and smirks, "I knew what you meant but you know 'Jump' is a lot shorter and quicker to say." She says, removing the Impact Drivers and then slapping Alopex on the back.
- Alopex (1057) has posed:
Alopex laughs, "Just in the moment, I suppose," she replies, giving the roo a friendly backpat just the same. "It's good to see you. I wasn't sure where you had decided to go, if anywhere. This answers the question I was going to ask when next I saw you."
- Deelel has posed:
With the beast down she knows there are others she takes a shor breath she keeps track of Athela Valemore and Augst and soon she also spots where Alopex is along with Rebound okay she's good and it sees the monsters are just about done. She takes a moment she'll spy some nevermores and throws her keyblade like a boomerang into their numbers hoping to help finish off the last of them with everyone else. The blde seems to not like physics as it moves about with more accuracy than it should and returns to Deelel's hand when it's done.
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
With the Tin Soldier piling onto the biggest Nevermore - and lighting itself on fire in order to light *it* on fire - Yuna just keeps stabshooting the eye; if she didn't blind it on that side with the first attack, she keeps trying. If nothing else, she can keep the flying Grimm too distracted and/or angry to do anything about the additional threat ... and *she* doesn't have to worry about breathing the air around her, either.
Her flight systems might need a little more in the way of local atmosphere than Yuna herself does, but the Light Suit also serves perfectly as a space suit of sorts - gotta love that defensive field.
Yuna actually gets singed a bit as the flames spread around to fully engulf the giant Nevermore; still, as the monster begins coming apart under the Tin Soldier's flames, Yuna takes enough notice of it to pull away. If the Tin Soldier hadn't disappeared when it did, she probably would have tried to catch it and soften the landing.
As it is, though? Two out of three Nevermores are accounted for, the third is well on its way from the 'active threat' column to the 'neutralized' column thanks to Athela, and the Grimm at large are retreating. Yuna settles for dismissing the Matrix Divider and flying down towards where August is staggering away, ready to give him cover if he needs it. She's also got her pulse blasters primed and ready, just in case any Grimm have second thoughts about getting out while the getting is good. The morale spike alone from the city's defenders carrying the day should be enough to make the Grimm decide this place isn't much to their liking any more, but she's not going to take that for granted.
- Yang Xiao Long has posed:
The final Lesser Nevermore is already beginning to pull back up after its dive when it's caught in the cross currents of water elemental attacks. It shrieks, but with the sheering forces tearing at its body, it's soon silenced, smoke mixing with the water, turning it an inky black.
As the Grimm are finally forced out of the Breach, the CitySEC and White Fang chase them a little distance, before falling back and taking up defensive positions. The APC is joined my a couple more heavy duty truck-like vehicles, which roll upp to, and park across the broken Wall, temporarily sealing it from entry, as they deploy automated turrets which track and fire on the Grimm until they flee out of range.
Yang drags herself out of some storefront or other, dusting herself out and looking battered, but unbroken. "Everyone alive?" she asks, as she approaches the gathering of responders.
- Athela Valemore has posed:
As the black that is a sign of Grimm destruction starts to melt into the vortex Athela releases her elemental grip on it, allowing the water to spin itself harmlessly apart, leaving the smoke of the monster to diffuse away into the air. If one wanted a demonstration of what a Tide Caller can do with their power, there you go.
With a grunt she reachs over to grab one of the quills that had stuck in her armor and pull it free, letting it dissipitate into smoke with the rest of the beast. "We all seem to be well, save some bang and bruising." Both Vaporeon and Samurott give barks of agreement to the sentiment. "Just the matter of the gaping hole in yon wall to take care of now."
- Yuna Kagurazaka (385) has posed:
"As far as I can tell," Yuna replies to Yang. "Elner, are you picking up the right number of life signs relative to when we got here?"
The little robo-faerie - who'd hung back from all of the actual fighting, of course - takes a moment to scan the area. "I believe so."
Yuna's vambraces snap closed, covering her pulse blasters once again, and the blonde girl lets out a deep sigh of escaping tension. "Huzzah. You need a hand getting back to Drachenblatt, August? Give me a few and I can help prop you up on the way ..."
- August Kohler has posed:
"I'm alive...", August replies, as he just sort of sits there for a minute before standing back up. "Shared pain. Ffire fucks me up more than most things. I should be fine after a bit, don't wworry." And then he goes back to sitting down, atleast as long as it's somewhere safe. He'll leave soon enough.
- Alopex (1057) has posed:
"I am fine, thankfully. I'm sorry I did't arrive sooner," Alopex calls over to Yang, moving toward her to greet her, "And being of the same group, I'm pleased to meet you in person. I'm Alopex." Handshake? She offers at least.
- Rebound (750) has posed:
"Yeah, Alopex is good people." She says, as she jerks her thumb at the fox, "Well people...Fox mutant person. You get the idea." She seems to have already known Alopex before the faction explosion.
- Yang Xiao Long has posed:
Yang nods to Yuna and Athela. "That's good." she moves to August, crouching. "Wait up, lets get you to one of the local triage posts, at least let them look you over. We might be able to help." she offers, placing a slightly burned hand on his shoulder, the skin glowing faintly yellow as the damage very slowly, but visibly reverses.
Alopex and Rebound earn a grin as she stands, taking the offered hand from the fox, and giving it a very firm and surprisingly strong shake. "Glad you guys turned up. All of ya... it was looking pretty dicey for a while there, even with the second-years coming in to help out."
- Alopex (1057) has posed:
"A pleasure to be of service, Yang," Alopex replies, her own grip fairly firm. "I'm not familiar with these creatures, but after watching you all fight them, seeing that they are hurt much like anything else, I saw no reason not to act. Seems my blade was effective enough to get the job done."
- Athela Valemore has posed:
Athela Valemore runs her fingers over one of the other rends in her armor, and winces a little as she feels the bruise underneath. Downside to opting for lighter armor, chainmail isn't always as effective against focused points like those quills as it is slashing and bashing. She might have to seriously consider some manner of shield.
The red haired knight sheaths her sword back at her side, then bows lowly in Yang's direction. "It is my duty to protect those in peril, regardless of when or where terror and malice strike."
