A Lesson About The PTO
Date of Scene: 25 July 2014
Location: Njorun Station - Ring of Philosophy
Synopsis: Raditz gives a brief tutorial on the PTO, and it goes slightly awry.
Cast of Characters: Maya, Staren, 61, 73, 238, 486

Raditz (486) has posed:
The Ring of Philosphy stands in the place where the old New Washington Holodecks would have been used. It's basically the same thing, except now it's in Njorun. It's funny how that works!

Hosting this little training session, is Raditz, perhaps the one person in the Union right now that's actively from the Dragon Ball universes and is trying to put a stop to the PTO in all their incarnations. It's a VERY slow process, but it's one which he plans to kick into gear as soon as it's feasible.

So he stands in the ring of philosphy, wearing his 'King of Saiyans' attire, which is basically his normal look, except with pants and the royal cape. It's much classier. He glances at the time, and hmphs a bit, "Sometime soon..."

Beli Klum (238) has posed:
Beli usually isn't one to get into combat for the sake of it; her lack of participation in the WMAT in the many years it's been running is testament enough to that. However, she's promised that she would help Yunomi in taking back her world, and she's going to need to be prepared to fight an enemy that's only familiar to her as a secondary awareness, rather than direct experience.

So she's here now, stepping into the Ring at a slow stride. Her wings and halos aren't out at the moment, but if actual physical training is needed, then she'll be able to get ready quickly enough.

She smiles to Raditz when she stops nearby, lifting a hand in a brief wave before she speaks, her soft voice echoing with small, bright bells and a dull, volcanic rumble. "It is generous of you to offer this training, all things considered. How exactly will we be doing it, then?"

Maya has posed:
Maya knew enough about the WTO to know they were bad news, but she's not dressed for heavy combat. She looks like she's bene out mingling on some earth or another. She tilts her head to see Beli someone she's not seen in person in a very long time. Maya smiles for a moment.

"It's good to see you Beli Klum It's been a long time, it's good to see you."

The Junker turns her head to face Radtiz and bows a bit.

"Thank you for this offer of training, your idea to shut down s many iterations of the WTO is .. honestly a good one."

Anivia (61) has posed:
The room takes a noticeable decline in temperature as the beating of frozen wings announce Anivia's arrival. Though the Cryophoenix was technically an immortal in age, and has lived for literal eons... she had much to learn. She knew that no-one, not even those who live forever like herself, can know everything. Especially now that Anivia finds herself facing the Multiverse, with infinite possibilities and countless random occurrences happening every day... and this Planetary Trade Organization certainly sounds like a mighty threat.

Any foe who could target entire planets at a time and move on was certainly worth preparing for. Also... Anivia tends to have a thirst for knowledge that is hard to quench. After all, when one lives forever... new things become a bit of a thrill.

Anivia circles the room, her glowing blue crystal wings flapping in the air as she circles the skies and looks for an area to perch. After a few circles, the Cryophoenix settles on a nearby desk. Her large dinosaur-like feet and frozen talons clicking loudly as they wrap around the edge of the desk, and the Cryophoenix cranes her neck to look down at the gathered Union members... noting unfamiliar faces for the first time.

After only a few brief seconds of noting everyone gathered in the room, Anivia opens one wing and turns to dip her beak underneath it, rearranging a few of her crystal feathers and taking a brief moment to preen herself.

Staren has posed:
STAREN'S LAB, MINUTES AGO

Staren's eyes open on the lab table. And we're back, he thinks.

Something deep inside him shouts, we stopped existing for several seconds you know, what if one of these times we /don't wake up/?

That's not how it works, Staren thinks to himself, I studied this technology extensively and I know it inside and out, you could almost say literally--

Yeah, well, we didn't have body-hopping and turning ourselves off and on again in the ancestral environment, Staren's mind thinks back at him, and fills him with a sense of existential dread.

Gnnngh, /stupid brain architecture/ Staren thinks to himself as he grits his teeth, sits up, and hops off the table to get dressed to go out, trying to ignore the ignorant fear eating away at the edge of his mind shouting DANGER DANGER DANGER

THE RING OF PHILOSOPHY

Ring of Philosophy, turn turn turn, tell us the lesson that we should learn, Staren thinks to himself as he approaches the door. Then he enters and nods a greeting to those assembled. "Hey guys." He waves. "Raditz. Maya, Beli, been awhile!" Anivia he hasn't really met, though he's heard her on the radio. "So," he walks in, "Is this just about their fighting style, or is this a briefing on how to counter their martial, political, and economic strategies for conquering the universe?"

Frederica (73) has posed:
Someone set the air conditioning a bit high, it seems. Frederica, clad in her normal sort of outfit, should probably suffer a great deal from the cold. She wears thigh-bareing skirts and detached sleeves, and her hood and scarf are clearly more for effect than warmth. Of course her outfit's also not heavily insulated or anything, and she IS a pyrokinetic. Naturally pyros aren't generally expected to endure the cold effectively.

Before she can begin shivering however, just as she enters, she lifts up a palm and ignites a torch-sized flame. After a moment the flame settles down, turning itself into a semblance of a flame wisp which she sets on her shoulder. It doesn't burn her, of course. It doesn't even singe her hair. Still, those close enough will definitely feel it radiating a comfy warmth.

Her hand freed, Frederica waggles her fingers in a casual greeting. She comes to join the gathering group, not speaking, figuring her own questions are likely to have already been asked and likely will be answered.

Raditz (486) has posed:
Raditz watches as people file in, inwardly relieved that he managed to get himself an audience. It would have looked dumb if he went through the fuss of telling people on the radio that he was doing a thing and it turned out that nobody was gonna show up. That would be aaaaawkward.

To Maya he sort of just nods, though he pointedly corrects, "PTO. -Planet- Trade Organization. Not World Trade Organization.... At least I'm pretty sure that's how most worlds would call it." He pauses for a moment, before shaking his head, "Semantics..."

To everyone else, he glances over once more, though he uses the opportunity to inform Staren properly as a chance to explain in more detail, "The Planet Trade Organization, if you were paying attention at all Staren, is pretty much bad news. Sure, they're no Confederacy or Union sized faction, but they're enough of a problem, especially given one of our allies' homeworlds has been invaded and, if we don't act quickly, is in danger."

The Saiyan paces around, "There won't be economics or politics or whatever. This is about knowing your enemy is you need to fight them, and You probably WILL." He reaches to his side and pulls a scouter from a pocket, "This.." He holds is up, "Is a Scouter. It's a compact communications and scanning device that fits to the side of one's head, scanning energy readings, functioning as a navigation tool, and communications divice. It's all purpose and the general PTO troops will likely be overly reliant on using them to gauge your abilities, and will likely underestimate you. USe that to your advantage."

Beli Klum (238) has posed:
Beli turns to Maya when the Junker arrives, smiling warmly. "Ah, Maya, it is good to see you as well. I am glad you decided to join us today." Anivia's arrival is met with a wave of greeting; she doesn't know the cryophoenix yet, but no point in being impolite. Then a wide smile to Staren. "Staren, it is good to see you here too. I hope you have been doing well lately." And Frederica! The pyrokinetic girl gets a wave as well before her attention is turned back to Raditz again, awaiting more information.

The rephaite crosses her arms thoughtfully as Raditz introduces the Scouter. "I assume it might not be able to properly identify foreign types of energy, right? Whatever it is saiyans use...I expect it would be different from, say, what a supernatural creature like myself uses, or someone who draws from outside sources. I guess that would explain it misjudging us."

Frederica (73) has posed:
Killing everyone on a planet so aliens can have it. Sure, Frederica's not actually certain that's what happened to her home, but it rings true enough to leave a chill down her spine. A chill that no cryophoenix caused. And besides, Serori's terrifying. The PTO is a scary scary force, and the only real way to face that fear is to learn about it and overcome it.

Frederica is very used to her fears, and either overcoming or masking them. This one is no different. "Either being underestimated or overestimated could be useful, and if they actually show the truth, then we're no worse off than we would be against other foes." she claims, her voice steady and showing no sign of nerves. "Can you tell us what this scouter shows for us? So we can decide how to best make use of their mistake?" she asks.

Staren has posed:
Staren frowns at the 'if you were paying attention at all Staren' -- did Raditz just sass him? That was uncalled for! He /did/ know that, actually! But he doesn't say anything. Yet. He forwns slightly, again, when economics and politics are dismissed as 'whatever' like they aren't important in fighting wars.

He tilts his head at the scanner. "Energy readings? What kind of energy does it read, exactly? Magic? No, for your world I guess it'd be ki?"

Raditz (486) has posed:
Raditz nods, and tosses the scouter to Frederica, telling her, "The scouter doesn't distinguish one sort of energy from the next. It doesn't care if it's magic, bio-electric, or Ki, it will pick up on the current level and measure that. They will generally assume that the energy in question is Ki, a basic life force energy that everyone has, and assume that any number that's lower than theirs is probably no threat. Punish them for that mistake, and don't give them a chance to learn."
He then holds up a hand, and forms energy into it in the form of a ball, "Speaking of Ki, moving onto the next part, most of the PTO utlize their life energy, or Ki, in a manner that allows them to augment their physical abilities, making them tougher, stronger, faster, allows them to fly, and even weaponize it. How they weaponize the energy differs between soldier, so be on your guard."

He then points to the area around him, "And just so you have an idea of what to expect, if only a basic one, the safety mechanism of the Ring of Philosophy has been engaged so that you can feel this what kind of energy blast it will feel like and what kind of distructive level it has. It's not pretty. So brace yourselves, because you're going to feel it.... Now...." With that, the Saiyan grows that ball of energy even larger, and throws it into the cluster of attendees, aiming at Staren in particular.

Frederica (73) has posed:
Frederica all but fumbles the scouter, having no particular athleticism and being somewhat distracted by the explanation. Ki is extremely similar to psi, and Frederica nods in understanding at Raditz' explanation, making the automatic translation to the familiar term. Rise, the ability to use psychic energy to enhance speed, strength, toughness, senses. Burst, the ability to weaponize psi. Frederica's terrible at the first, but exemplary at the second. It's quite likely a scouter will show her energy levels similar to that of an equivalent Saiyan, since the power is essentially similar in nature. If however it focusses entirely on Rise, on the physical aspect of enhancement, it'll see Frederica as a tiny and pathetic weakling until she starts calling upon her power.

She goes wide-eyed as Raditz fires up his ki. She's not tough, and not at all good at dodging. Instead she responds in the only way she knows. She fights fire with fire. It's a pretty good move, actually. Just like two Saiyan ki blasts hitting each other, her own 'ki' puts up a certain resistance to the energy of the blast. Not a perfect resistance by any means. The fan of flames, short and intense, is able to ward some of the damage. Able to turn the attack from an overwhelming direct hit into a merely moderate one. It still flings her backwards, sending her crashing hard to the floor, but at least she doesn't have virtual holes though her body.

Beli Klum (238) has posed:
The moment Raditz begins to form an energy ball, Beli decides that she should probably be ready for something. Six black-feathered wings slide out from her back, and three black halos form behind her head as she makes her own preparation. It's just a matter of figuring out how best to avoid what comes.

Then it's thrown, and Beli quickly throws up her right hand in front of her. Of course she's not going to try and /stop/ it with her hand; no, that's saved for what comes from the blue flames that appear in her halos and the cyan sheen that comes over her feathers. The golden orb of Compassion is summoned around her, a sphere of yellow light that flares out just before the blast hits.

The result is that the shield is filled with thousands of cracks etched into its surface, and it seems as if it would simply shatter if hit with /anything/, but it's at least spared Beli the brunt of the attack. She winces slightly as she lets Compassion dissolve away, shaking out her hand a little. "...well. I do not think I will be doing that too often, if I can help it."

Maya has posed:
Maya looks to Staren and gives him a nod, she also takes note of Frederica as well, she seems h glad to see a number of people taking things seriously. She knows planet pirates are no laughing matter at all. 5R
"I am sorry a few place have called it such but you are right."

She goes quiet as she now listens she looks at the scounter and nods a bit.

Staren gets another look for a moment.

"Can they pick up magic? Either way your right we can play off them thinking we're weak but that will only last so long."

She also braces her self for the incoming blast as she tries to brace her self as the blast hit and she's was not expecting that. Maya relies on speed and magic with a bit of armour to deal with damage. She was caught off guard by this. It's flinks her bouncing across the floor as she's knocked off her feet. She'll be a moment before she's back on her feet.

Staren has posed:
Staren eyes the growing energu ball. He takes a defensive stance when Raditz says they're going to feel it... and then when Raditz throws it he dodges instinctively... and he has a lot of tools for that! Jets in his shoes, the magic wings appearing on his back... he dashes out of the way, the blast possibly taking out his forcefield, and then in a smooth motion he turns and draws his magic staff at Raditz. "MASENKO!" He has to empty most of the robot's spirit battery to provide enough power for the energy blast. "What's your PROBLEM with me today, man?!"

Raditz (486) has posed:
Raditz rapidly answers, "Magic, ki, it all sort of blends into one. Their scouters won't be able to pick up the difference... Maybe." He glances about, "Most importantly, don't rely on all my information as concrete, because the Multiverse is NOT a big fan of being consistent with me."

When Staren fires an energy blast back at him, Raditz growls and rapidly gathers energy into his body, enough for him to harden his body rapidly swing his hand out and smash his fist into it, and bats it out of the ring up into the air, where it explodes harmlessly.

"Staren, my Nephew is mobilizing his forces to capture worlds that aren't his, STARTING with Yunomi's. That move you just used is one of his, so I'd appreciate it if you get your head in the game, because these guys mean serious business, and will not hesitate to kill you. Got me?"

Staren has posed:
Staren remains frowning at Raditz. Although the frown becomes surprise when Raditz reveals the Masenko is someone's signature move. "It is?!" The rest makes him frown again though. "My head /is/ in the game!" He steps forward with a bit of a stomp. "Why do you think I'm the one who tried to get the Union to accept immortality?" he sweeps his staff off to the side and clenches a fist with his free hand. "I /know/ the Multiverse is dangerous! Why do you think I don't?!"

Beli Klum (238) has posed:
    "ENOUGH."

Beli's voice can be very, very striking when she wants it to be. The normally-soft woman's tone turns firm and loud, the ringing of bells shifting to a deafening clamor and the dull rumble suddenly erupting like the volcano it mimics. She frowns between Raditz and Staren before clearing her throat and proceeding less loudly. "Raditz. Staren has been here a long time and is very aware of the dangers surrounding this organization and the threat they have posed to Yunomi's world. He is generally not someone that takes things lightly. In fact, he takes things /too/ seriously sometimes. So, please do not talk down to him or any of us right now. We know what the problem is."

She turns to Staren, then, folding her arms over her chest. "Staren. Please try to stay calm and do not berate the person who is making an honest attempt to teach us something important, something that will help a dear friend of ours. Please?"

The angel-demon sighs softly and turns back to Raditz, nodding for a moment. "Right, then. Where were we?"

Frederica (73) has posed:
"On the ground." answers Frederica, propping herself partially upright. "Owww." she adds...

Raditz (486) has posed:
Raditz is about ready to lose his cool when Beli does them all a favor and shuts it down before it has a chance to begin. He blinks for amoment, staring at Beli, before clearing his throat. "Right." He takes a breath. Remember, to not actually explode at your alies. Leaders don't do that.

He then reminds, "The safeties for the ring -are- on. I was going to throw that ball of energy regardless of who it was that got hit. The point of the demonstration, -Staren-, was to give you a clear idea the level of the devestation that can be had if kept unchecked."

    It really was nothing personal.

Staren has posed:
Staren collapses the staff and puts it away. He just nods slightly.

Raditz (486) has posed:
Raditz scans the bunch of them, focusing only on Staren briefly. "Anyway. The PTO in also is geared up in standard issue body armor, made of plasteel plating. Lightweight but durable. Keep that in mind.. With that said, if you want to spar, drop me a message. Fighting them is basically fighting me, except maybe weirder. Some of them have mouth blast attacks." He shrugs, "Dismissed."
With that, he turns around and grumbles. "Swell, Raditz..."
