Now it's her job to make sure industrial resources like the Loadstar Depot are protected, by keeping its defense measures running and its defenders properly armed against the cosmic frontier. But instead of tolling in a workshop all the time Corona is just as likely to be fighting alongside the guardians, using her knowledge and skills to demolish the enemy's defenses. Turns out the know-how for building things and fixing machines is also really good for -breaking- them as well, making her a surprisingly effective sapper and saboteur when needed. And it turns out spending much of your younger life having little is good motivation to protect what's important now. Despite being sassy, spunky and all too willing to put herself in middle of the action instead of working from behind the safety of the walls, Corona is dedicated to the cause of protecting the people and resources needed to build better worlds than her own. To commodate for the small stature that allows her to quickly move between defense points, Corona wields weapons more geared towards deterrence and debilitating mechanical threats; like her plasma-powered hammer and shotgun, cutting torches, personal turrets, and plenty of explosives. Sensitive ears render her vulnerable to certain extremely high and low sound frequencies.

Loadstar Depot: Corona operates out of the Loadstar Depot, which serves as a hub for the network of railways that service the Brimsteel mines, thus also making it the primary defense point against everything from mineral-eating monsters to greedy bandits and industrial rivals. You can only profit from the resources you can ensure safely reach their buyers after all. Specifically Corona is the depot's machinesmith, putting her in charge of both repairing equipment and making sure the depot and supply lines' defenses are maintained properly. Which means that sometimes she has to take care of clearing out mine infestations or breaking the enemies' stuff before they can attack personally.

Profile

Corona Arclite was just a kid off the gritty streets of Brimsteel until she was taken in by an elder machinesmith and trained in the ways of the forge and gearworks.

Sensitive Ears: The drawback to Corona's sharp ears and highly tuned hearing is the susceptibility to extremely high or sudden noises, which overpowers her attunement to resonant frequencies. Certain pitches interfere with her hearing to the point of being painfully disorienting. Weaponry based around disruptive sonic or concussive shockwaves can be highly effective at crippling her even if they don't do physical harm normally because of this attunement to hearing resonations. The shape and position of her ears, along with how heavily she relies on hearing techniques, prevents her from employing more effective protection against such problems.

Tech Bruiser: Corona can dish out some serious damage in a fight, especially against physical structures and machine based foes. But she replies heavily on her special hammer, plasma-powered weaponry and other tricks to have any sort of presence on the field of conflict. Without her weapons, her tools, some bombs or a machine she can jury-rig into service she is little more than an eccentric vixen that may be too smart for her own good.

Lightweight: Being able to scale walls, crawl through small access spaces and move between defensive positions rapidly requires one to be as quick on their feet as they are with their wits. Corona travels light, carrying little more than the gear she needs to do her job, the weapons to protect herself, and some thorough but basic protective measures. She's got considerable stamina against exertion but can't take more than moderate harm from attacks before starting to suffer from it. She is also really easy to throw around in a fight if her opponent is bigger and stronger ... which is pretty much anything she goes up against. If they can get their hands on her, that is.

Lock And Overload: A wise machinist once said that Necessity is the mother of Invention... And that Stability is often a deadbeat dad. This has a habit of being true with Corona's more inventive works, like jury-rigging a vehicle to make it run, or her modified guns occasionally jamming or backfiring because they don't use standard functionality. It is especially true of the sentry units she uses for field deployment. She hasn't quite perfected the portable design yet and they have a notorious habit of failing at inopportune moments. They're also usually made out of scrap metal and spare parts, so they're not particularly durable, and when they do fail it tends to be in the most spectacular fashion possible. In other words, despite being small they explode really, really well.

Machinist's Duty: Loadstar Depot relies heavily on Corona's work to be able to defend itself and the resources it harvests, including a lot of raw material which goes to supplying the needs of warfare as well as her world's efforts to settle the volcanic frontiers. It's because of the these reasons that she works for the Union, but despite doing so she can't stay away from her home for extended tours of duty. If she's needed on home ground due to surges in raider activity or monster threats she can be gone from the main theater of the conflict for stretches of time if her homeland needs her more.
