+ | Fifth Force Reconnaissance Fleet: These three girls were assigned to Kuma by the Admiral. Together with Kuma, they act as an escort force, and a long range recon unit, scouting out potential sites to expand Fleet operations, or ferret out Abyssal nests. Shigure is armed with Cannons, and has a surprising number of Anti Aircraft emplacements for her size, making her a force to be reckoned with against aerial foes. She also carries Type 93 'Long Lance' torpedoes for dealing with surface threats, and depth charges for submarines. | ||

Profile
The Light Torpedo Cruiser 'Kuma' was built as the first ship of and thusly the Name Ship of her class, and served as an escort for many operations during Japan's involvement in the second world war. Kuma now has arisen as the spirit of her ship to serve once again in battle against the Abyssal Fleet, protecting innocent lives from the ghouls that lurk beneath the waves. Being a Light Cruiser, she doesn't have the armour or cannon batteries of the bigger Line ships, but packs two racks of torpedoes that can wreak havoc in any naval force. She is, however, very light on the anti-aircraft due to her early construction so aerial threats are a bane. Due to how she was sunk, she has a fear of submersibles, surprise attacks and fire, having been torpedoed by the HMS Tally Ho; this caused her engine room to burst into flames which went on to engulf much of the ship before she went under. Despite this, she's a cheerful and pleasant girl with a notable verbal tick. Kuma.

Disadvantages
Reciprocity: Kuma's fit-outs are all part of her 'self' meaning any damage incured to one translates to the other, and vice versa. She cannot translate from one fit to the other to repair damage, and any damage to her Ocean fit-out can cause severe injury to her Land Fit-out when changing back, depending on how badly damaged she becomes. The trade-off is that any repairs made to her Land Fit-Out carry over to the Ocean Fit-Out, making dedicated drydock facilities unnecessary.
Operational Exhaustion: Deployment to combat zones is tiring work, especially because of damage and expenditure of ammunition and fuel. While field repairs can patch minor damage, full repair work and restoration must be carried out in a dockyard facility.
Pyrophobia: Kuma was hit by torpedoes from HMS Tally Ho. This lit many fires within her aft and midships decks, that gutted much of the vessel and caused her magazine to explode. This makes Kuma deathly afraid of fire, even moreso than other Fleet Daughters. As a ship, fire is a very serious problem, as even with all that water surrounding it, there's little a ship can do to quench a raging inferno once it starts. This can also cause secondary explosions, especially of the Long Lance torpedoes, which while potent weapons, were just as dangerous to the carrying craft as to enemies.
Abyssal Nightmare: Despite being entirely loyal to her cause of protecting the surface from the Abyssal Navy, if she is 'sunk' she will rise again as a Chi-class Abyssal Torpedo Cruiser. This form has no knowledge of her former life as a Kuma-class Fleet Daughter and is loyal to the Abyssal fleet, until she is 'sunk' again, which will change her back.
Leviathan Syndome: Leviathan Mode has many advantages, but several drawbacks as well. Notably is that, while it levels the playing field against larger opponents, it leaves the Abyssal at a disadvantage against a smaller opponent in a one-on-one battle. It also puts a lot of strain on the Abyssal's body, and cannot be used more than once per any one battle.
Deep Waters: The shift from Abyssal to Daughter and back is a very traumatic one. Memories become confused and some become entirely buried in one form or another. However her allies can use their links to her through friendship, to cause the Abyssal to pause during combat, as memories resurface unbidden. Conversely, enemies that know her history could cause her to stagger if they bring up elements of her past which are rather traumatic, like the final moments of her original ship-self.Logs
