Allies belong to either the Confederacy or the Union, but they are not part of any formal rank structure.
Taken directly from news characters/rank/info:
- These are somewhere between enlisted officers and contractors. They have a great deal of freedom, and are only expected to take orders during military situations - though common sense applies. They may sometimes command missions or have other arrangements for alliance.
